They don't greet you here or talk to you at all. You order from a kiosk and when it's done they txt you. The peach lychee juice is very tart and sour but it's not bad just on the sweeter side. Not a big fan of the teriyaki chicken and rice plate. It is nice that it comes with a side of chicken broth. Clean place I like the high top table & chairs.
Chicken Meets Rice is a simple yet tasty option for lunch. You order your food at the order screen by the counter. It's quick and easy. I got the Fried Chicken. It was pretty juicy. Salad was fresh, but they need some type of dressing put over it. The bonus is that nice chicken broth soup on the side. They have Wings for a good price as well. Good spot to grab a bite. I definitely will go back soon.
I love my chicken meets rice! On this particular night, I got the two different types of chicken, but the grilled chicken tasted burnt and overcooked, so I didn't eat much of it. The steamed chicken was the best. It was so well with the ginger and green onion oil! That was the best! Overall, you can never go wrong with this place!

This wasn't my first encounter with Chicken Meets Rice as I had visited their other location in Santa Clara. We really liked it then, so it was an easy choice for a quick dinner before our flight out. The major difference between the two experiences was the actual restaurant itself and what it had to offer. This location is much larger and spacious than the Santa Clara location, which feels more like a takeout spot. We ordered at the kiosk, and it's a pretty easy menu to order from. We each got our own Chicken Box, whether it was the Fried Chicken Box with Chicken Rice for $14.99 or the Hainan Chicken Box with Chicken Rice for $14.99. My absolute favorite sauce to get is the Ginger Scallion Oil. There's a self service water station and we took a seat. We were surprised that our food was brought out to us, as this was definitely not the case at the other one. (I'm not sure if it was because they weren't too busy and the order was obviously for us, or because the owners were working. And that's another thing, I really appreciated seeing the owners working the actual line. They were packing the food up and doing all the work, just like any other employee would.) I was pleasantly surprised to see our meal served in actual dish ware with real cutlery! Wow. This really just made the dinner that much better. And it was easy with clean up as they had bins near the trashcan so you can put your dirty dishes away. (This practice is so much more efficient than using disposable containers for dining in. I, personally, do not enjoy eating out of takeout containers or using horrible plastic cutlery.) And the food just presented a lot better not crammed into some box! We aren't in the area very often, but we know where we'll be grabbing dinner before our next flight out.

I thoroughly enjoy Chicken Meets Rice every time I get food there. The first location I ever tried was off of Tasman long ago. Now that my company has moved offices, we are right across the street from this one off of Coleman. I've walked over a few times to order take out and once to dine in. All experiences have been exactly what I wanted and needed. Dining in there was actually nicer than I expected. My food didn't come in a box (which was all I had known having only ever ordered as takeout). I found a nice quiet corner to sit in and my food was brought out to me when it was ready. It was lovely. The broth was warm and comforting, the quality of the chicken was top notch - never too dry. The chicken rice is tasty. CMR sauce is the best sauce and always the way to go with the Hainan chicken. I always look forward to the food and will be coming back for many more years as long as they continue to stick around!
Big portions. I like this places better than rooster rice. chicken was moist and I liked the sauces on the side. good amount of tables for sitting. pretty spacious place. order at the Ipads.

I didn't know they opened up this Chicken Meet Rice location. My wife and I stumbled upon it when we went shopping at Costco. There is a lot of parking around. This location is spacious, though it does not have a lot of seating inside and there is no outside seating available. They have two kiosks to order from. The mobile order pickup area is to the side. Only one unisex restroom. *Hainan Chicken Box (with dark meat with skin) (4/5). Served with your choice of two sauces. Also included is a salad, sliced cucumbers, and chicken broth. Come support your local business.
Love Hainan chicken rice! Please open more locations around the Bay Area (San Mateo Area!!!). I really appreciate the option to mix half rice and half veggies, choose different sauces, and pick between grilled or classic Hainan chicken. The Coffee Meets Tea drink is also perfectly balanced--not too sweet, with just the right amount of caffeine. If it's your first time, I highly recommend trying the Coffee Meets Tea and the regular Hainan chicken with chicken rice. There are plenty of parking spaces since it's located in a plaza, and the interior is spacious and super clean. 10 out of 10!
I reckon the best way to describe Chicken Meets Rice is akin to an Asian version Chipotle... It's all Chicken, as the name suggests. I see this as a brilliant alternative for a healthier fast food option. Bright, clean and inviting venue with a very minimalist interior, parking is not an issue with plenty of spaces in the plaza. I didn't really have any interaction with the staff, a guy behind the counter brought my order to the table...that was about it. I used the kiosk to place my order and grabbed a cup of water from the water station. Simple and self explanatory. The food came out fast as well...probably within 5 minutes. Quick and easy take out. Plenty of seating inside. Ordered on the kiosk and food came out fairly quick. Service can be better and welcoming. The chicken soup was on the saltier side. I got the grilled chicken and the steamed dark meat Hanian chicken. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Juicy and tender. The grilled chicken had a nice grilled crust to it and a tasty lemon grass flavor. Comes with two sauces. The ginger scallion oil went well with the dark meat. Yeah. We had no intention of eating here but I'm glad we did. Heading to SFO and got a text saying our flight was delayed. We have some time to get a quick bite. Headed to a In & Out but got diverted by the flashing OPEN sign at Chicken meets Rice. Super simple menu, quick and delicious. Friendly service was easy to notice. They were closing soon so they were also clean. I wish they had one nearby to where I lived I'd be a regular. Demographics wouldn't allow it. Being in its location I'll probably not ever get back. This place is terrible. They messed up my order. I will never go here again. I ordered white chicken with skin. They gave me no skin. I called to complain but no one answered. I left a message and did their survey online and complained they didn't give chicken with skin. They never called me back. read more

If you're looking for a solid spot for some Hainan chicken, look no further. My boyfriend recommended this place so I finally tried it for myself. Parking was easy to find and there was no line when I came on a Saturday afternoon. You place your order on a Kiosk and once your food is ready, the workers will bring it to you. I got the Hainan Chicken Box with chicken rice, mixed meat with skin, house salad (no dressing), and ginger scallion oil + Thai ginger soy sauce ($14.99). My meal also came with a soup which was really flavorful. The chicken was perfectly cooked and I loved the chicken rice. The portion size was pretty worth it for the price of $15. Service was good, the restaurant was nice and quiet, and the food was delicious. All in all, I'll gladly come back again for a cheap and healthy meal. read more

The food here was alright, I feel like I've had better chicken meat rice from other places. I think it was a little bit, rushed in preparation probably because they just opened when I got there. The service was OK. The environment is very spacious. I would say that this is a pretty pretty big shop compared to other Chicken Meets Rice. read more

My son loves chicken rice. He said this restaurant's chicken rice is delicious and he really likes it. Today I tried it myself, and it was indeed as delicious as my son said. However, I've had chicken rice at a Thai restaurant before, and I think that one was even better. It's all about the dipping sauce. This is just my opinion. read more
I'm so happy that Chicken Meets Rice has opened a location closer to me. Until now, I've had to drive over 25 minutes to get to one. This new spot is conveniently located at the corner of Coleman Ave and Brokaw Rd. That said, getting into the plaza can be a bit tricky due to heavy traffic from the nearby freeways and Costco. There are two self-service kiosks for ordering, and the process is user-friendly. I ordered my usual the Hainan chicken box with dark meat with ginger scallion sauce. It came with the standard side soup, and a nice bonus at this location, a side salad. The meal was consistent with what I've had at other CMR locations. I'll definitely be a regular here as it's one of my favorite quick and relatively healthy options. read more
Tried the 1/2 split if fried chicken and white skin Hainan chicken. This location is not as busy as Cupertino and wanted to check it out as they hadnt run out of anything yet. Ordered in store and it was ready in about 15mins. The portions feel a bit small but i guess it's perfect for no leftovers. They def dont skimp on the rice, the salad didnt taste very fresh and the chicken didnt taste as good or fresh as the Cupertino location. Good to have in this area if ur craving but wish it were as fresh as the Cupertino location. read more

Ordered Togo here and got the hainan chicken with no skin over rice. Very good and lots of chicken portion. Loved how it came with a ginger dressed salad. I really enjoyed their Singapore chili sauce. Spicy but not too spicy just the right amount. Will come again since they were fast with their service and there use to be many places that sold hainan chicken but nothing beats chicken meets rice ! read more

I ordered from Chicken Meets Rice through UberEats because I had a late-night craving for wings. They had an amazing BOGO deal, so I got 16 wings for just $19. As someone who grew up with traditional Chinese flavors, the salt and pepper wings didn't taste exactly like what I expected, but they were still really good. What made the experience even better was sharing the wings with my dad while watching soccer late at night. It reminded me of the simple moments we used to enjoy together--just good food, a good game, and family time. Those moments mean a lot, and the wings definitely made the night feel special. read more

Chicken meets rice was a great and quick lunch for me to grab on my break. I always pass by it and finally went to try it and was not disappointed the chicken was very fresh and I really liked the sauces on the side for each of them. I wish the portion sizd was a little bigger but it is good enough for the price and I felt like the food agreed with me perfectly so I do know that it's very fresh! read more
Convenient, lots of seating inside and bright lighting. Has a bit of fast casual feel. Kiosks to order, simple menu. I was recommended to try both the grilled and hainan. You can only get 2 sauces but can pay for more. The salad was nice and refreshing. Rice had some flavor. Chicken was tender. The ginger scallion sauce was a bit salty. It also comes with a clear broth. Overall a balanced plate, okay size. Honestly I didn't feel like the chicken itself had much flavor but it was tender, i think i wished for more ginger flavor overall. The Singaporean chili sauce is really good. read more
A new Chicken Meets Rice, and a lot closer to me than their other locations to boot? It's like a belated Christmas present! I've been a fan of their Hainanese Chicken and delicious sauces for a while and this location has only deepened by appreciation for their fare. If you've never tried their Thai Ginger Soy sauce, do yourself a favor and give it a try as it is incredible and pairs excellently with the delicate flavor of the Chicken Rice and poached Hainanese-style chicken. When you order the Hainan chicken you have a choice of light or dark meat along with whether you want the skin left on or not. The choice is yours, but I'll tell you now that there is really only one correct answer if you want the best experience and the most flavor, and that's to go with dark meat and skin on. The chicken and rice is served with a little side salad along with a bowl of chicken broth so it ends up feeling like quite the complete meal and I was left absolutely stuffed and satisfied after my latest visit for lunch. We tried the Crispy Salt & Pepper Wings for the first time which were pretty solid as well, and came with an unexpected mouth-numbing tingle as a result of the Sichuan peppers they use. The wings are served with some fried Fresno Chili slices so make sure you can handle the heat before you accidently go biting into one of those. This particular location has quite a lot of indoor seating so feel free to dine-in, but they also have a good online ordering system for takeout if you want to grab it and go. I'm delighted that they decided to open this location on Coleman and I know it's going to be a go-to lunch option for me moving forward. read more
Super happy there's a new CMR near me. I frequent the Tasman location, but having this Coleman one right by Costco is great. They just opened their doors today 12/30/24 and are offering a free side of papaya salad. With the new territory also comes some growing pains. My simple two box order of the Hainan chicken rice took 15 mins to come out with a relatively low queue. Not terribly slow, but significantly longer than the other location. They were also out of wings just two hours into service. Ambiance is nice fast-casual, great for a quick bite. Spacious, enough seating, bright. Toast tablet ordering system, staff is dialed in. All the best to Chicken Meets Rice! Hope it breaks the curse of closures in this little plaza and is here to stay. 4/5, will be back often. Congrats on the opening! 01/06/25 Edit: I came back a week later to try their salt & pepper wings. Very tasty, would recommend. Brought my brother with me to get a split-box and it looked great. Picked up dinner on a Friday evening, and the place wasn't busy, just a few customers picking up orders. So it was quick and easy to pay at the self-order kiosks and receive my food in no more than 10 minutes. Got the grilled chicken box with chicken rice, sesame teriyaki sauce, and salad no dressing. The portion sizes appear to be larger than what I've gotten at the Santa Clara location in the past. The ingredients were fresh and delicious, the chicken nicely grilled and juicy, the teriyaki flavor subtle not overwhelming the dish. A very satisfying meal. Plus the restaurant looks clean and new with ample indoor seating and parking available. read more

Food was pretty good but not mind-blowing, very simple and straightforward but thats not a bad thing. Grilled chicken was especially good, seasoned well. Hainan chicken was a little bland for my liking, but very tender. Extra sauces and broth were a nice touch. Ended up paying 19$ for my food which isn't terrible considering the portion. Definitely worth trying. read more
