Chicken and ribs are consistently great. Sides are unremarkable but very consistent -- which makes them reliable and therefore pretty good for what you pay. The one star is for the fact that on the last 3 occasions + I've witnessed it happen to other people as well, the cashier basically assumes whatever amount of cash they are given is for their keeping. I understand the demand is high and they are busy, but what kind of unspoken rule doesn't return change to their customers? The lady at the register always takes your money, and regardless of how much overage she is handed, says "thank you", doesn't offer change back, and expects you to leave. Best chicken place I've ever tried. The quality of Chicken Lovers is consistently good. You know what to expect once you get there: delicious, juicy chicken, great sides, and magical green sauce. The ribs here are also pretty good, but the chicken is the star. I always get chicken (either 1/2 or 1/4), corn, and either broccoli (if I'm feeling healthy) or rice (if not). Expect a pretty long wait for your food though, since just the same amount of people order for pick up as those who order in the resraurant. The wait can get absurdly long, even on weekdays, but that doesn't bother me enough to warrant any less than five stars. One issue I have is the use of styrofoam for both dine-in and take-out customers. There's no reason to do this for dine-in customers, and it just tacks on more waste. Again, this isn't enough for me to deduct a star, because I just love the food here so much, but I just wish they could be a little bit more eco-conscious. I have been going to Chicken Lovers since I was in High School and the service as well as the food as been very consistent and delicious every time. I'm not a big rib eater but when it comes to Chicken Lovers, I always prefer to order the ribs instead of the chicken and the meat always just falls off the bone. The customer service is amazing. When I walked in, I was welcomed very enthusiastically and there is no delay in ordering. They also take orders online via their website. I ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs with the sides of Mash and Corn which came to a total of $21.00. The portion size is huge so I always share it.  I also got extra green sauce with no additional charge. There is also an outdoor dining area with a parking lot. There is no wait staff so you get to choose any seat you like and there's no need to tip if you decide to sit and eat your food there. There was no problem with my order at all today but I noticed that even in the past, if there was a problem with the order or even just a lack of supply, the company would make it up without me needing to state anything. For example, once I tried to order ribs but they were completely out so I just got the chicken. When I got my order, I was shocked to see the chicken order but also another box filled with ribs which I did not get charged for. All in all, I would recommend Chicken Lovers without blinking an eye. The food has been consistent and delicious for years. The customer service is absolutely amazing. One of my most favorite local spots in Queens. They have gotten quite popular over the years that even when you order and there's no many people there, you'll still end up waiting quite a while because they're receiving orders through the phone. There is very limited parking right in front but you can find some parking within the neighborhood. They also got rid of their high table seating and have all regular tables now. The only con is that there is no heat during the winter so it's cold inside and they have some heating fans on the floors. There's also no AC in the summer either. The price increased slightly for their lunch special to $11 but it's still a great deal! They pack the sides into the box as much as possible and top it with a grilled pita bread along with your choice of meat. Both the chicken and ribs are chargrilled to perfection and taste absolutely delicious. They also have the most amazing green sauce to pair with the meal which adds so much flavor. I literally put the sauce on everything (meat, pita bread, rice, other sides, all)! Honestly all of the sides are pretty good. The rice is my absolute favorite side! I don't know how, but it's super flavorful. The mac and cheese is always dry but add green sauce and anything can be bomb. The mashed potatoes are super creamy and literally just melts in your mouth. Came here on a Saturday during lunch time. Placed order online at 12:14PM, with ready time at 1:04PM. Arrived at 12:40, checked on status at 12:50 and found out they didn't even know about my order. Food was ready at 1:18, one hour after order placed, while walk in customer was told wait time is 25-35 minutes. I specified all that, because they don't seem to have the online ordering work out well. I see plenty of chicken cooked and put away in warming trays, I don't get how they couldn't put my order together while at it. Somewhere down the line, the streamline is loss; or perhaps it's under a new management. Now let's talk about the food, I ordered chicken & ribs combo. I mentioned there's chicken already cooked and put into warming tray, I feel that's the reason it was a bit cold, and not as warm as the ribs coming off the grill. The meat was also a bit dry. Meanwhile, the ribs are coated in very flavorful sauce, but the inside is lacked of flavor. Been coming here for over three years. This place is a staple in bayside, and people come from all over to visit this place! The woman in front of me told me she was visiting from Florida and was gonna bring this chicken all the way home! Thats crazy. The chicken itself is remarkable. It's grilled well, but what really completes the dish is the green sauce. It's a very creamy, slightly spicy sauce, and paired with the chicken it's a match made in heaven. Depending on how lucky you get, you could get the fresh ribs, or the last ribs of the batch that have been slow cooking for X amount of time. By far my favorite chicken spot!! The green sauce is to die for, so delicious I always asks for extra. Their lunch special is a great deal and is enough food for at least two lunches. I was first introduced to Chicken Lovers over 10 years ago. It is not even a fraction of what it used to me. This is what happens over time, management or staff changes. The pitman that was around for years is no longer there, the workers are all younger and rude, and owner is never around anymore. Just a lot less care. With all the positive reviews on Yelp, Chicken Lovers caught my attention. The restaurant is popular for its charcoal grilled chicken and ribs. However, it's honestly not worth the hype, so don't be fooled by all these reviews. Their clientele enjoy the prices rather than the overrated food. The chicken tasted average, the skin was flavorful but the meat was bland. The sides were a huge disappointment. The mac n cheese tasted like it came from a school cafeteria and the corn tasted like it came directly from a can. It's nothing compared to authentic Colombian/Peruvian chicken. If you care about basic hygiene, you'll find the restaurant to be extremely unsanitary. The place has garbage everywhere and appears to never have been cleaned since they opened their doors. The cashier handles some of the food preparation and the money without ever washing their hands. You could call this place a hole in the wall, but the food has to be somewhat decent. Now if you still decide to order from Chicken Lovers after reading my review, I HIGHLY recommend that you place your order in advance. Based on my recent experience, the restaurant is disorganized and cannot handle multiple orders at once. To give you rough estimate, I waited approximately 45 minutes for my order even though there were only a few other people waiting inside the restaurant. Would I recommend Chicken Lovers to others? My friend who grew up in Latin America brought me here for lunch on a weekend. Her family are loyal customers of this restaurant and they claim this grilled chicken to be the closest thing that reminiscent them of the grilled meats back at her childhood home. As a bodybuilding fanatic I've had countless chickens and till this day this is the best grilled chicken!!! We ordered the family bundle - one whole chicken, one full rack of ribs with four sides. The chicken was smoky yet juice squired in every bite (even the chicken breast!!!) The ribs were wrapped in spices and had a nice chew. The mac&cheese was soft,creamy and complimented all the smokiness extremely well. Overall it's a very affordable restaurant with a less than pleasant environment but the amazing food makes up for everything!!! To be honest, you might enjoy the food better as a takeout. My husband and I had the pleasure to try this place out for lunch today. I had called in and requested my order for take out. When I arrived, the food was ready as promised. I ordered 2 lunch specials, the 1/2 chicken with corn and yams, chicken cutlet with 2 sides of mac and cheese and a 1/4 rack of ribs. The lunch specials also comes with a beverage (bottled water or can of soda). The prices are reasonable and the portions are huge. And the staffs were all very nice, friendly and helpful. The interior wasn't very attractive but who cares, the food was fresh and delicious. If it bothers you, take it to go. The chicken and ribs were perfectly grilled and was amazingly moist, tender, and flavorful. Words and pictures don't do it justice, you need to try it out for yourself. Don't forget the green sauce! (they gave me 9 of them :D). The meats were even better drenched in the sauce. They also added 2 free pieces of hot wings along with the chicken cutlet meal. My husband really liked the sandwich and the mac and cheese. The sides, corn and yams were nothing special. They were ok. But the charred pita bread did compliment the chicken. Love this place and have been going here sporadically ever since I was introduced to their chicken. The outside of the restaurant looks a bit dingy, but the food is simple but delicious. In the past, I'd always go for their 1/2 chicken lunch special for 12 bucks, but the deal isn't available anymore during these Covid times. Their roasted chicken is smothered in herbs and grilled to perfection. The meat is rarely overcooked and is always juicy. And it comes with this delicious mystery green sauce that's creamy and slightly spicy, which goes perfectly on the chicken and pita. Their ribs are always fall-off-the-bone tender and generously slathered in bbq sauce. It's always a good choice for me when I want to have a little more than just chicken. Their sides aren't anything special, but they come in large portions and compliment the meat really well. I personally like their roasted red potatos and buttered corn. On a hectic day after all errands with the kids in bayside, we decided to give chicken lovers a try, yelp approved :) so it was go for us . We order take out , at first it looks a little outdated but we still gave it a try. The food was good it even made me come back. I decided to pick up dinner early and came early, the place wasn't even open and there where people already waiting for it. I order and waited 15 minutes I understand because if just open. For my surprise when waiting for my food I looked around the place and it stared looking duty and really disorganize, the owners look carefree and the employees look immature by the way they where acting and you can see they didn't have any experience in dealing with food customer service. The cashier had headphones on the whole time taking my order chatting away on the phone :/ Basically they look lost. I was a surprise the chicken was good. One customer made a comment about one of the employees looking drunk and by coincidence others coworkers where asking him , are you drunk dude? OMG ....... I opened my big eyes and looked at the customer that made the comment and he made smirk. Sad but the face of a restaurant says everything about it, it seems a lot of there customers order take out and don't stop to look around. Trust me you'll be surprise. Sorry not coming back. While the food here is good . Chicken is always good, their fries are pretty crispy and good as well.. Ribs are bleh .- but I'm not a big on pork anyways. Mashed potatoes - while other people need gravy and or some sort of sauce on this, I'm perfectly fine with them just the way they are . I think the mashed potatoes already have enough flavoring.
