The food is always a blast to eat, I enjoy the chicken very much. Although you may have to wait a long time for your chicken, I feel that it is worth it if you love chicken. The ambiance is like any other chicken express/chicken fast food restaurant. The downside of this chicken express is the price of meals. We paid about 60 dollars for 5 meals of chicken. Overall this place is a great stop if you love chicken. read more

Always slow even if nobody is there. Employees aren't welcoming, and the food never fails to disappoint me.

Waited 30 mins and $21 later my friend were burnt. The tenders were okay I don't appreciate waiting to get bad food read more

Chicken Express - Fried burnt - Fast Food Near Me - Glen Rose, Texas

I noticed the reviews here were older; Just for clarification this place has NOT gotten any better. It is a world of difference from the one in Granbury. We had the unfortunate episode of taking my elderly mother there for lunch on Wednesday. They were slow to take orders, it was covered in flies, the workers were inefficient. They had several Hispanic men trying to get lunch and a front counter person was doing all but making fun of them because she didn't speak Spanish. She made no effort to assist them or try to help. Fortunately another customer helped (hello, you can order by NUMBER) Later, when we did FINALLY order, the employee kept running back to let us know which sides were OUT...THREE TIMES. The cherry on top was the hair cooked into the tender. DONE HERE. read more

We are staying in Oakdale RV Resort and didn't feel like cooking. So this was convenient and chicken sounded good. Upon arrival in the drive through I was greeted by "Dick the Rooster". This has to be the only Chicken eatery in the world with a volunteer... wild... Rooster greeter. Service was excellent and fast. Food was great. I had simple two piece dark meat with a biscuit. My wife had the 7 piece Chicken Tenders with biscuit and gravy. The Chicken tenders in gravy were absolutely delicious. We are here for a couple weeks... so for sure will be back to see Dick... and get more great chicken... served with a smile and a laugh. read more

Ok the environment needs to change. I'm sorry why are there FLIES again? And they have all the chicken prepared, yet we are waiting for a long time Food: Chicken tenders: Disgusting and dry. Outside is not crispy, inside is just trash. Fish: looks unappetizing so I didn't even try it 2 piece chicken: probably still dry and SUPER overpriced Mac N Cheese: terrible and literally soggy with ZERO flavor Mashed potatoes: Pathetic and dense. Gravy: no flavor whatsoever literally just cream with pepper Biscuits: your average biscuits Terrible and pathetic. Place is a dumpster inside and out. Just don't come here. read more

Chicken Express - The worst 20 bucks ever spent in history - Fast Food Near Me - Glen Rose, Texas

I would give zero stars if possible. Stopped by on way home and ordered a seven pc and four pc. We did not get what we ordered plus the chicken was hard and dry plus spent $29.25. The cold slaw was horrible like no mayo in it. Only corn nuggets were fresh. If I didn't live twenty minutes away I would have gone back. I do not recommend this chicken express. BEWARE. read more

I love Chicken Express and have visited many locations all around the state of Texas, however, if you want a great dining and service experience, I honestly cannot suggest this location. Ordered the 4 tender meal which ran 11 bucks. You get 4 tenders, bread, one side and a large drink. I received basically three tenders, cold mash potatoes, runny and flavorless gravy and a biscuit that could be used as a hockey puck. In the past, if one of the tenders was not full size, they would give you another tender to make sure you got your moneys worth. Not here. The receipt had NO prices on it and no total. Why give out a receipt if the food items are not broken down by price? Restaurants who do this are suspect and could be doing something very shady with their pricing. I will be contacting their corporate office. Go to the Granbury location and avoid this location at all costs. read more

We spent a weekend in Glen Rose at a BnB. While driving in we stopped in at Chicken Express. First off we eat at Chicken Express where we live all the time. The best tea. The best fried chicken. The best catfish. The best service most of the time. The bottom line here mainly is the archive is rude and filthy. No hair nets. And yes, I did find hair in my mashed potatoes. Once I brought it to their attention, the cup of mash potatoes was snatched out of hand and thrown away. Handed me a new one with absolutely no explanation or remarks. Food was still good as it should be but attitude is what destroys the ratings here. read more

Got home with my 12 piece after waiting for 20 minutes... it was 4 wings, 4 legs and 2 breast. Apparently somebody can't count. Also my family sides were regular sides. ‍ read more

Chicken Express - the receipt for the chicken express - Fast Food Near Me - Glen Rose, Texas

Stopped at chicken E in Glen Rose Tx the food was terrible. The chicken , okra and gravy we all cold. The fries were good. They had just cooked. Very very disappointed for $20. Service was good no one in there. read more

We stopped here on our way to a playoff game. There is a parking lot out front with plenty of room on the side to park a bus. The restaurant inside is a decent size but prepare to come out smelling like fried chicken. The bathrooms were pretty clean surprisingly. Prices are decent here for fast food. I only ordered a sweet tea because I have a food allergy and there wasnt anything I could eat. Their food is all breaded and fried. There isnt anything grilled. If you have a gluten allergy you probably shouldnt stop here. The sweet tea however is really good. Its so sweet I could only finish about half of it but still worth it to get! read more

Absolutely the worst customer service EVER! Management is rude and could care less if you entered this establishment again! second time I have not received what I ordered! Taking my business to Granbury where customers are considered, NEVER HERE AGAIN! read more

Ordered gizzard, livers and a l leg. I believe it was Erin (said she was the manager) that came out and told us they were out of legs and would a thigh do. The lady waiting in front of us also had a waiting order of livers. We get home and there was a box of gizzard and no livers. She said we ordered different. Still no livers while she said we made a mixed order of gizzard and livers. But where was those livers? In the other box was 2 mashed potatoes, 1 leg and 1 thigh. Instead of offering us the opportunity to come back for livers, she just argued I was wrong. Whatever happened to pleasing the customer? We are NOT broke and would never try to beat someone out of money. I promise I will never eat there again. I'll stick with Brookshies chicken which is the best in town. I've never heard such disrespect at a eating place before. I also asked her again what her name is and she told me, "I'm not telling you my name". But answers the phone with first name. All I can say is- never again!!! read more

This franchise of Chicken Express serves as a convenient stop for my somewhat regular weekend travels. I think it is a pretty standard Chicken Express, which actually says a lot. I find their pieces of chicken superior both in size and flavor to the point where I will not go to any other fried chicken establishments. This franchise also a MexTaco Express, which means that you can get a crispy beef taco with your two piece mixed. How fun is that? read more

Clean, friendly, great food! Catfish is cornmeal only, no flour so is gluten-free. Also, the fried pickles are cornmeal only. Corn-on-the-cob would round out a gluten-free meal. Also, out green beans would be great! read more

Chicken Express - We are especially excited about our "facelift!" - Fast Food Near Me - Glen Rose, Texas

A person referred this place and obviously didn't have anything better to compare it to. We ordered chicken, gizzards, hot wings and sweet tea. The sweet tea was good and the rest wasn't, even compared to gas station bought chicken. The service was very good though and price seemed average. I would not recommend unless you never had deep fried chicken... read more

Very hit or miss. Sometimes the chicken is good and fresh and other times it's very dry and I can tell it's been sitting under a heat lamp a very long time. The sweet tea is the only good constant here read more

Versus 1 year ago- totally shameful to Glen Rose. Been waiting 17 minutes in the drive thru and haven't even seen the food. Finally got it and was shorted both chicken and poppers. Sad to see new management that does not take care of business. Won't be back- read more

First time we ever tried Chicken Express. We were traveling through and were hungry. Absolutely some of the worst chicken that I have eaten. Ordered the chicken tenders and they came battered with an particularly unremarkable mix of flour and water that was tasteless. The chicken that was encased in this terrible batter was flavorless....no seasoning at all! Even KFC (which I hate) would have been better. I'm sticking with Church's Chicken and Popeye's. Rolled the window down to get the order and in addition to the order got about 100 flies! Should have known then that it was garbage. Don't waste your $ here. read more

Disgusting. Saw flies and roaches. Honestly I've never been more revolted in my life. Never eating here and wouldn't recommend it.

Terrible service. These employees are rude, if you want business id recommend looking into new employees. They act very entitled. Encouraging smiling at your customers I'd recommend too. read more

We showed up at closing and they were still so kind and made us fresh food! I love the people of this town and the kids at chicken express!

Today we called in a order for chicken, sides and livers. Called in the order so we wouldn't have to wait in line. They said it would be 20 minutes, so i leave to go get it.
