If you are a member of The Spring Creek barbecue email club, they will send you deals and freebies. One a month, I get a coupon for BOGO free rib plates. A good deal! Unfortunately, the closest restaurant is 2 hours away. We still make it once in a while, on one of our out of town shopping trips. I have to be honest, their food is not the greatest, but it is good. Kind of the difference between a franchise and a craft BBQ place. Both the baby back ribs and the St. Louis style are worth trying. I will say they have some of the BEST rolls around! So good! I went to the Granbury location, the young man who greeted me was about high school age, and was polite. But I got a to go order of ribs, and the to-go area is off to the side, not where you can see them prepare or cut off the ribs from a rack right in front of you. What I got was burnt, 1 of 5 ribs was not edible the other 4 were burnt though somewhat edible. I picture that this employee that helped me had some tough ribs off to the side somewhere, and when a to go order came through, where they can't see which ribs are being chosen, he took advantage of that and gave me the bad ones. I don't know this for sure, but I do know it makes sense. And I do know this was not a good selection of ribs. read more

I like coming here with my Sunday class. The place is clean and the food is pretty good. However it's becoming so expensive to eat out. This barbecue place rocks! The food is SO yummy and melts in your mouth. It is SO tender and flavorful. The staff is VERY accommodating and they served endless bread right from the oven which melts in your mouth. We ended the meal with homemade hot peach cobbler à la mode which was to die for! Happy Father's Day, not so much. My family and I went into the Granbury Spring creek BBQ for Father's Day Dinner, that was a big mistake. Two of us ordered lean cut brisket dinners, well lean today meant literally at least 30% pure fat, the manager told them not to trim the fat off the bottom of the lean cut. Another person ordered marble cut Brisket cut dinner, they were cutting everything so thin that the marble cut was like chopped Brisket. Needless to say, the portions were well smaller than when we usually go to this location and we have been there many times. Another person in our party ordered a three-meat dinner, they received two ribs, two very thin slices of brisket and a chicken thigh-leg combo, the brisket was fatty, the ribs and chicken were very dry and old. The dinner rolls were overcooked and burned and hard on top. I understood why they were basically empty today. The manager was doing nothing, never greeted any guests even when he walked by a table he ignored everyone, very poor management skills. I do not recommend this Spring Creek to anyone, and I will not be returning. read more

No excuse for this place to only have 3.8 stars! The staff is awesome, all of them! We are "craft bbq" people, we rarely go to chain bbq restaurants. We also make all this stuff at home. We came to a meeting here over a year ago (we live 1.5+ hours away), I had ribs then and remembered how good they were. We were back in town and absolutely stopped here. Still great ribs, brisket and sausage are great as well. If people are complaining because it's more expensive than "fast food", duh! It takes 18 hours (ish) to make good brisket. The rating for this place is a travesty. My husband and I are RVers checking out good food and we knew we wanted great BBQ in Texas. We found it and are going back before we leave. The setting is quaint cafeteria with comfortable family friendly seating. I knew I wanted brisket and although don't usually go for Mac n Cheese I took a look at what was being served and felt it would be worth a try. I always try coleslaw. The brisket was awesome. Peppery and the mix of lean and marbled was the best. So tender. The sides were superb. A waiter comes around with more mini loaf bread rolls and they are fresh and good. You NEED to try this place. I'm gonna start this review out by saying my husband didn't want to go to Spring Creek because we had eaten there in the past and he didn't have a good memory. BUT... I was starving for barbecue and he loves me...so...., I ordered the large brisket plate, and my husband ordered the soup and salad. We also asked for an appetizer fried green tomatoes,when in Texas. I have to say our waitress was a very sweet girl!!! she brought us out our fried green tomatoes. They were kind of lukewarm but still yummy then came arm meal. My brisket was plenty of meat. I ordered baked beans and a baked potato. First thing I started to work on was my baked potato, I put the butter and sour cream in. I've never seen where a baked potato didn't melt the butter before. Needless to say it was cold then I took a nice bite of my risk. I had dunked it in the warm yummy barbecue sauce, put it in my mouth and began to chew the meat, kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger. I was almost about to spit it out. It was so dry that I could not continue to chew it, I was afraid to swallow it. My husband giggled at me and said what's wrong. I said this meat is so dry. It literally is about to choke me. We contacted our waitress and said can we please exchange it for maybe something else like the sausage thinking how could sausage be dry in the meantime from my husband soup and salad that he got salad was good nice and cold, but his suit came. It was tomato basil I swear to you that it looked like Jell-O. It responded like Jell-O he made me take a taste and oh my gosh, it did not taste like Jell-O. It was so thick that it was almost an edible. It was gelatinous well we thought we could at least share the sausage and share the baked potato when the sausage came it was really fatty with no flavor. I'm sorry to say we had a terrible experience and I know we won't go back. My bill ended up being around $48 and we had two glasses of water for $48. I expect good barbecue. read more

Me and my 2 granddaughters decided to stop by because of the cafeteria style setting. We were hungry and didn't want to wait. The staff was very nice and helpful. The guy who was at the meat section was very helpful at describing on how to order. I got the brisket, so Good and tender. The green beans and pinto beans were delicious. Went on a Sunday for lunch. Ordered the sliced sandwich which came with two sides for 15 bucks. The sandwich will fill you up and you can get the meat with as much fat as you want or as lean as you want. For a bbq meal, the price is very reasonable and the cue was good, not great, but I would recommend it. Sides were beans and potato salad with the delicious rolls. They also offer free vanilla ice cream if you didnt want the cobbler. I highly recommend this place if you want good bbq and sides without having to take a cash out refinance on your house. A friend of mine once told me of a man he was cooking brisket for, that the guy corrected him about how he was slicing the meat. He said, "You've got to slice against the grain!" My friend was irritated at this but I told him the man was right. It has been my experience at Spring Creek that often the person who is cutting the meat has no idea what he is doing. How many times has a bbq meal been been ruined just before it is plated by a person who doesn't know how to cut the meat to serve?! This goes mostly to how or whether these young people have been trained! Managers, make sure your people know how to cut the meat before they plate it up. Otherwise your customers end up with a mouthful of stringy fat that makes for a very unpleasant bite! Don't allow your food to be ruined at the last step before it's given to your customers. I usually stop at spring creek when in granbury. I was in town today so I figured I'd give it a go. I went in, grabbed my tray, silverware, and waited to order. And waited. There was a gentleman chopping some brisket for a to go order. I patiently waited for him to finish. Not once did he ever greet me or say hello. He wrapped up his to go order and I figured I was next. Still waiting, I watched him grab some meats off of the grill, etc. There was also a gentleman next to him who was working on something, and another worker at the side station. No one greeted me, informed me that he would be done soon, etc. I ended up leaving after standing there a few minutes. I would also like to point out that the restaurant was not busy. Barbecue that is consistently great. We eat there at least once a month. Their Black Pepper Sausage has become my favorite as pictured here. The sides are also great with cole slaw and green beans have also become my favorites as pictured here. The big rolls are the best around. Outstanding in every way! We happened upon this awesome bbq restaurant while visiting Granbury. Every person was warm and welcoming and the food was out of this world! Nice smoke flavor to the meats, we had ham and beef brisket. Both were high quality meats, custom cut before us. The chef even asked if I liked lean, more fat, or mixed of both for the brisket. Wonderful rolls, and we were surprised to have someone come around with fresh out of the oven rolls midway through our meal! Good side dishes; we had green beans, Mac n cheese, and a large, perfectly cooked baked potato! A spacious restaurant with good social distancing and all other Covid practices were spot on as well. I really liked it! Hubby and I ate here for lunch and had a great experience! I ordered the 3 meat platter-peppered sausage was nicely seasoned, pulled pork was moist and tender and the baby back ribs were delicious too. I also ordered the potato salad and mac and cheese, so cheesy and not dry. I ordered another potato salad to go. Nom nom! He ordered the same except beans instead of potato salad and brisket instead of sausage. Every item was flavorful and had leftovers for dinner! Love the hot rolls they bring by! Need to buy a bottle of the pulled pork sauce next time! So I normally try to support small businesses but when it comes to bbq I have tried some local businesses and consistency is always the issue. Sometimes its great and other times it's dry and hard which is so upsetting when that happens especially when you spend @ $50 for lunch. So, when it comes to bbq so far we've picked here bc sometimes the chain restaurants have better quality control and when splurging on a meal you want to eat somewhere where you don't have to cross your fingers hoping it's good this time. ZERO STARS! WORST BARBEQUE IN THE STATE OF TEXAS!! 6 pm on a Sunday night. My first time here. More staff than customers. First of all this place is run by stupid high school students with no adult supervision. My Guy and I ordered the Texas Twosome. No other customers on line. We waited while stupid teenager sliced brisket and it took forever. I saw the bun she was going to put it on. I waved it off and said no bread. When we got to the cashier they'd charged me $5 more for no bread! What? Then it was a big deal to get the money back. A different girl came to the booth we sat at and insisted my boyfriend give her his credit card. She asked 3 X. He told her, we just paid cash! Then 10 minutes later another stupid teenager returns the difference and tells us his name. Who cares who he is. We've been there 20 minutes and have been passed through 5 employees. Why? I took 1 bite of the brisket and started to wonder what kind of meat they'd given me. I mean, in the middle of cow country, in the middle of Barbeque country and what the hell was this? Dry, shoe leather, ZERO flavor. I'd taken some Barbeque sauce and dipped a piece in. What the hell WAS THAT? Disgusting. BBQ sauce housed in a tray with steam table on the right and cold food on the left. 2 minutes after the second bite and I was off too the RR. No more of THAT!. I ate the baked potato only. Staff doesn't know if they're serving butter or margarine. Nincompoop with the dinner roll basket texting on her phone. NO ONE wearing gloves or hair coverings. Soooo, my boyfriend paid $10.25 ( after getting the extra $5 back ) for me for just a baked potato. I thought, should I take this home to the dogs? Why would I do that? I love the dogs. While leaving the property I started to feel sick. We made it as far as the public restrooms on Courthouse Square. ***Thank you to the City of Granbury for permitting public access to restrooms on a Sunday at 6:30 pm*** Public RR was cleaner than RR in this place. ALL the way home, belly rumbling while I'm belching up a storm. Food at a full service gas station would have been safer. Vinyl tile in dining area makes your shoes slide. They're washing the floors without rinsing the soap off the floor. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen. If you want to throw your money away take $30 on the interstate, open the window and toss it away. At least there is some chance it will go to good use. This place has been open more than a dozen years yet has only 20+ reviews, many of them TERRIBLE. If you look at my reviews you will see one for a new Greek restaurant in Florida. It's been open 6 weeks and has over 70 .... 5 star reviews. The purpose of Yelp is to rejoice and celebrate great food and businesses. It's purpose also is to warn away potential victims of bad food,bad staff. Spring Creek Barbeque was one of the few places open in Granbury on a Sunday night. Overall, it was a 4, but I do want to give the staff a full 5 stars. From the greeter who met us at the door, to the polite young men behind the counter, and the especially the darling young lady who came by to offer us the incredibly delicious fresh bread, the service was exceptional. My fellow dinners enjoyed the brisket and my husband had the ham. They all enjoyed their meat selections. The baked beans, coleslaw and green beans were unremarkable. The macaroni and cheese was nicely done. The offering of fresh, hot bread was an added bonus to the generous portions of the meal which includes whatever gigantic portion of 2 sides you choose to load onto your plate. read more

I asked if I could sneak past the "12 and under" restriction and was promptly told no :( However, they did offer to cut a smaller portion of meat for me and told me I could pick one to two sides for 'around the same price.' I went with a quarter of the chicken and two sides: beans and coleslaw. The flavor of the coleslaw has improved, but just a tad too sweet for my taste. The beans were better when I added chopped red onion to them. Customer service was spot on, and we were regularly asked if we wanted fresh rolls. Next time, I think I'll opt for one side and make my own little sammie with a roll and choice of meat. After all was said and done, my meal came out to around $6.50 - $1.25 over the kids meal price. SpringCreek is an average BBQ restaurant. The sliced beef was only okay. The black pepper sausage was different and pretty tasty though. Their BBQ sauce is decent but nothing to write home about; a little sweet, a little smokey. The staff was pretty laid back and came around offering hot fresh rolls periodically. The Food: I was generally pleased with the sliced beef and the black pepper sausage was a unique item that I haven't seen before. I wouldn't have eaten either meat without the sauce as it was a little too dry for my taste. I also tried the baked beans which were okay and the macaroni & cheese which was enjoyable. The Verdict: I would go back to SpringCreek BBQ, because even though it's a chain restaurant, it has decent enough quality throughout all of it's locations.
