On Sunday, March 29, my wife and I went to Babe's Chicken House in Granbury. We were met immediately and seated promptly. Our server was a young lady named Lauren. More on Lauren shortly. This was not our first trip to Babe's Chicken House. But it had been a while, definitely too long, since we were here when we came years ago, we would usually order a chicken each. Now we are in our golden years and we can't eat that much, so we split one. But it was just as delicious as it has been each previous time! The Chicken was fried too absolutely perfection! The golden brown skin was seasoned perfectly and was very crunchy, just the way we like it. And the meat was hot and fork tender, Oh, I still prefer to use My fingers. The sides of green beans, corn, and mashed potatoes and gravy were off the hook! I'm not sure how they cook that corn, but they can come over to my house and cook it anytime! We both drank a sweet tea with lemon, very, very cold and lots of ice! About Lauren: Lauren is a local young lady who has a constant smile on her face. I never saw her not smiling while we were here. I watched her as she engaged in conversation with many people, both employees and customers, and she was an extremely pleasant young woman. But to my wife and I, she was an absolute, unfettered joy! She kept our tea glasses filled, and Make sure that we had plenty of potatoes and gravy, corn, and green beans. She did all of this as well as tending to her other customers I think that she is one of those young ladies who is so personable that she has the gift of making everyone feel as though they are the most important customer to her. I know that is the way that we felt. My wife had ordered some vegetables to go, And had mentioned this to Lauren when we ordered our chicken. We were nearly finished with a meal when Lauren arrived at the perfect time with the "to go order." She remembered when many such servers in the past at other venues Have forgotten. I need to address one other thing that I frequently hear people complain about. Yes, babes does serve instant potatoes. When you feed as many people in a day and in a week or over a holiday weekend, as they do, something has got to give. And by the way, those instant potatoes are absolutely delicious! I don't know what they do with them, but they are incredible! So if that's your own grip, find something else to rape that and instead insert some positivity into your review! This was the most pleasant dining experience that I've had in years and it was because the food was good and Lauren's service to my wife and I was even better! The only suggestion would be that Lauren gets paid more! She's clearly not being paid enough! As for Babe's Chicken dinner house, we will be back! Thank you all so much! We enjoyed it. It's been a number of years since I've been to a Babe's. Three of us came for dinner around 6 pm on a Friday night. We were seated right away - lots of open tables. By 7 pm, the place was mostly full. Happy we got right in. The dining area is one very large room. Lots of tables. 4-tops, 8-tops, And round tables with lazy-Susan's. Our server, Gracie did great. We ordered and shared the following: - Chicken Tenders - Chicken Fried Steak (CFS) - Fried Chicken We enjoyed them all. The CGS isn't huge. A single eater can finish it. The Fried Chicken is a half-chicken. So that's a lot (breast, wing, leg and thigh). Easily shared unless you're really hungry. The Chicken Tenders was a pretty large order. Two person shareable in my opinion. We also asked for the Armadillo Sauce. It's sort of like a honey-mustard sauce. It was tasty on the Chicken Strips. We had leftover Tenders and Fried Chicken that we ate on the next day. A dressed salad and biscuits came out first. The salad was nothing special but it was appreciated and we ate it all. We all loved the biscuits! We asked for more when our dinner arrived and enjoyed them with honey. Both Honey and Sorghum were on the table. The sides were decent. I enjoyed the mashed potatoes and gravy. The corn and beans were 'okay'. I'd recommend Babe's to anyone who's looking for some breaded and fried chicken, steak or fish and enjoys family-style, unlimited sides. read more

First visit to the Granbury location and 4th Babe's birthday overall. I'm always interested in what each Babe's will be like. Each has unique decor and features with the same great food & hospitality! My son and I were driving thru and stopped in. We beat the Friday night rush and were greeted and seated immediately. The dining room is a large open space with tables and chairs packed tightly and close to each other. It's always great for larger parties and groups but also fit the both of us nicely too. We ordered chicken tenders and smoked chicken with all the fixings of course. I'm telling you this is one of my all time favorite meals. Service was excellent, friendly, & timely. The unique feature is the surprise in the hallway when visiting the restrooms. Look out for a giant bunny or chicken! Unfortunately I was too busy eating and enjoying our conversation I forgot to take pictures. I guess that's a good problem to have. read more

Welcome to the Granberry edition of babes! This is a fantastic restaurant with wonderful fried chicken or chicken fried steak as the main entrée choices. They have other great side dishes as in mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, green beans, and a plain salad with excellent salad dressing. If I did not mention the rolls with honey or molasses, then I failed. This is a great place to eat, and I highly recommend it. We come here with our family for special occasions and extended family and friends. We recommended several people to come here through the years and I sure have enjoyed it. I've never had a bad experience and never had anyone that I sent this way ever complain. I encourage folks to try any of the babes locations in the greater Dallas Fort Worth area. This location of Babe's offers the choice of one of five main entrees: fried chicken on the bone; smoked chicken on the bone; chicken fried steak; chicken tenders or fried catfish. The sides are corn, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy and the appetizers are the salad and homemade biscuits with honey and molasses. Wow, this place is Texas Chicken. You have to bring the family to this one. It looks like Texas. It feels like Texas and the best part is, it's in Texas! The original fried chicken was excellent, and the sides where just like Mom's.. The salad was great and I felt like I got more than enough food. Homemade style. Jesus himself brought me to this restaurant because it was chosen rather randomly and turned out to be exactly what we needed. We had a long drive into town and had planned on Christina's for a special bday dinner. However, upon arrival we underestimated how dressy the restaurant was and also didn't have reservations, AND were also starving. We walked around, spotted this chicken place and made a decision on the fly. (Fellow yelpers will understand, this is a terrifying way to choose a restaurant - but how many stars does it have?? We don't even know!) Babes does not provide menus, which was amazing, as I was too tired and hangry to look at one anyhow. You choose your meat entree and everything else just comes to you immediately family style. The salad I found to be much too sugary, don't waste your stomach space on this, you need it for more important real estate. The biscuits are amazing. The honey and sorghum syrups are perfect, however, if you like something more savory, save your biscuits for when the other sides comes and you can dip them in the gravy. The chicken is very high quality, both fried and smoked. If you have kids under 5, I dont recommend getting them a kids meal, it's *so* much food, they can totally share with you. They do let you take the biscuits home FYI if you don't finish. The mashed potatoes were my other favorite side, they are the kind made with flakes, which are strangely what I absolutely prefer. The corn was super creamy and buttery. I didn't prefer the green beans, but I really never do when they're canned and have a bacon flavor to them. Service was terrific, however I feel terrible for these sweet teens who work here. During our meal the freaking YMCA song came on very loud and they had to dance the entire time it was on. Please, Babe's, stop this. It's embarrassing for us all. Ambience is rustic. Stuffed chicken everywhere are pretty silly and fun. Would love to be one of the lucky chosen few to sit underneath the lit pergola area. Maybe can call ahead for that. read more

Delicious food. Always. I love their salad. I love how everything is served family style. Always lots of food. I was disappointed to see my daughter's WATER was $1.79. I know it's not much but I means a kids water? Our waitress was not great and not very friendly but the neighboring one was so she made up for ours. Consistently good food! Originally I wasn't sure how I felt about the salad that was both vinegary & slightly sweet but each time I ate it I was more addicted! The chicken fried steak is delicious!!! The biscuits are consistently delicious as well as the honey & sorghum that I eat on them every time!! The service is almost always good, which is a rarity these days. I just realized this week that you can eat chicken strips at Babes for the same price as Fast food, Canes. And Babes chicken strips have a dipping sauce that is way better than Canes and you get restaurant quality food and sides vs Cole slaw and icky fries. I'll only go to Babes from now on for chicken strips. I end up with four meals for the same price as a 6 strip Canes meal. Plus I do curbside. Why would you go anywhere else? read more

This please is interesting since you pay by the meat and it comes with great sides. The sides are unlimited and are delicious. The price is great and the service is excellent. I was very disappointed with my meal. We ordered smoked & fried chicken. As soon as I took a bite of the smoke chicken it was rubbery and chewy. I called our server and mentioned it to her so she went and called the manager. Manager offered if I wanted to order some chicken fingers or something else, I told the manager I was only going to finish eating my vegetables. He then mentioned that he would only charge me for a vegetable plate. But at that point I was grossed out and lost my appetite. Babes Chicken is always good. Chicken fried steak was on the menu for us tonight, so crispy, so big! Really like the bottomless bowls of veggies and gravy. Corn is a bit sweet, green beans have some southern style added to it, and the biscuits are yummy. This location is in a nice lake town with a beautiful town square. Inside it tall, somewhat dark. A lot of wood walls and ceiling area. Lot's of brown with low dimmed light, tho the music is a bit loud when the place isn't full. Very cool place! Will return when in the area. read more

Delicious! A really good chicken or catfish dinner! The restaurant was super cute, and sold some delicious honey and sugar cane sauce, along with jams or preserves. The waitress was super nice, and gave us the whole run down. This is what we got: My sister and I shared the fried chicken dinner, which came with four pieces, drumstick, breast, thigh, and wing! The chicken was really crispy, seasoned, and juicy! Quality fried chicken! My dad got the catfish dinner, which was also super good, i liked the breading, and it had a good flavor/texture. The only downside is that, if you don't like white meat, go somewhere else. $20 for a side of chicken with a leg, thigh, wing, and one gigantic piece of white meat (breast) and they don't allow substitutions. That's the only thing I'd change. If I pay for it, I want to get what I will eat and not something I don't like. Other than that, I highly recommend it. The easy menu choices (which you can't go wrong with any of the options, though we are a fried chicken and chicken tender family), shared sides and nice space to visit and enjoy spending time together. We eat here fairly regular. It's located about 25 miles from the town we live in. We were with two of out close friends and there were four of us. We got there at 11:00 am their opening time. My wife and I always get the chicken but our friends both ordered the chicken fried steak. All of our food was great. Fresh, hot and just what we wanted. The service was the best. The business was very low at that time. If your anywhere near Granbury Tx. it's worth the trip to eat here then stroll around the square and church out the shops. read more

A trip to TX to visit family led us to Babe's. While the fried chicken might've been the best I've ever had, I do wish there was a healthy option. My niece, who is an avid runner, wasn't able to eat much because of the limited choices.
