Son had a nearby baseball game and decided to drop in for a quick bite. Upon entry, we were greeted with a smile and placed an order for the Carne Asada plate. It comes with 3 hefty slides, which I got the fries, white rice, and rice and beans. The fries were crispy and fresh out of the fryer. The beef was tasty but was pretty dry and thin. The place was very clean with about 8 tables to dine-in. Parking was plentiful as it is a shared lot with the nearby businesses. Would be back if around the area. Enjoy!

After considering the positive reviews, I decided to try the place. I ordered the Bistec a lo Pobre (beef) and opted for three sides: yuca, coleslaw, and plantain. The meat was well-cooked and flavorful, while the sides complemented the dish nicely. Additionally, the service was efficient, and the ambiance was clean. I look forward to returning to sample their renowned grilled chicken in the near future.

-Price was a tad bit too much for the amount of food we had received. Fajitas barely had any meat in them. -Tres Leches was too sweet. Restaurant appeared to be a takeout place mostly. Food was being prepared fresh. Rotisserie had chicken cooking for the evening rush. Fried Yucca was delicious! If not anything else, get the Yucca from here!

One of my favorite Peruvian chicken places. Service is good, Ambiance is casual. The food is always delicious.

1/4 chicken dark with yuca. The yuca spot on, hot and crunchy not overpowered with salt. The chicken grilled but missing the flavors I am used to for Peruvian. So-so at best. Wash your hands please after you eat corn on the cob while walking around mama. The experience was more like street food with chairs. Just OK. Brush up on the Spanish, Englishis not their thing but I would hope for more flair in their food. Bathroom were clean. Family members were a little loud blaring their phones while sitting at tables. I gave it a try... 2.5

Saw this pollo place as it was preparing to open, and gave it a try as it finally opened! Went to pick up dinner on a Sunday and there wasn't a line. With that said, the chicken wasn't quite as fresh/hot as we're used to eating. In fact, the meat was a little mushy, but the skin was cooked really well - perfectly crispy. There were no ovens on at all and all chicken available was already cooked and sitting in the warmer. We picked a couple sides including yucca and salad. The salad was not a good choice - iceberg lettuce that wasn't in the best shape. There are 3 sauce choices including their house made sauce - all were good. We'd probably try again, but maybe at a busier time so the chicken is more fresh.

Just came back from Peru and wanted some more chicken. Saw good reviews from this place and decided to give it a go. The chicken was fantastic, well seasoned and cooked. Nice smoky flavor and meat fell right off the bone. Wish it came with some more sauce but still a quality meal. Service and vibe of the place was good as it looked like a family style place

This new restaurant has really upped the chicken game. Awesome food, great ambience, reasonable prices, & friendly staff. Their chicken marinate is the bomb. For the sides, I tried beans and fries the first time and yucca and rice the second time. Loved it. Definitely go for the sauces too. Highly recommended.

Delicious Taiwanese sausage with sticky rice 大腸包小腸; very authentic 鐵板牛排 steak on a sizzling plate; tried their hot pot 小火鍋 for the first time which is nice on a cold evening. They offer Taiwanese popcorn chicken with basil leaves, 鹽酥雞, very good. Various bento boxes such as 滷肉飯, all very authentic. Food was good; ambiance was homey as usual. But the service (a sole waitress) was not welcoming. She just wanted to get us out of here. No smile either. Many items are already out (they probably do not restock, seeing that they are wrapping up anyway). Location is of course off the grid with no real public transportation. We got some takeout as well; beautifully packaged and presented takeout bento boxes (see my photo). For dining in, the bento box is also beautifully presented. However, for whatever reason, popcorn chicken and appetizers all came in paper boxes rather than on plates even for dining in. That takes a bit of the special feeling away.

To be fair, Momo's Cafe is a bit out of the way and hard to get to (for us, we have to drive through Georgetown on M Street), but it's worth it! TAIWANESE POPCORN CHICKEN - 8.95 The chicken was salted and peppered perfectly, crispy but not overly so. The chicken itself was juicy and tender. This really hit on a rainy day, and I could hardly focus on the conversation with my friend because I was pre-occupied eating the chicken. I could not ask for a better Taiwanese popcorn chicken. BRAISED PORK BENTO - 11.50 This bento came with a lot of food, where 25% of it was braised pork over white rice. There were some sides like sauteed napa cabbage, a bit of pickled vegetables, steamed corn, and an odd assortment of Chinese sausage, fried tofu, and half a tea egg. Everything was good. The braised pork was fatty and juicy, and the sauce was a bit milder than I'd expect, but still flavorful. The sides were all homey and not too over-the-top, which was what I wanted. The corn was cooked with butter and clearly came from a can, but it hit home because that's how my grandma used to cook for me. So I'm not sure if anyone else would like the corn this way, but I did for nostalgia reasons. Also, the prices are actually reasonable?? I wish it was easier to get to Momo's Cafe from where I live -- I'd actually stop by quite often if that was the case. The food is homey and delicious, I'd definitely recommend it!

The tater tots were barely cooked and definitely not crispy (more steamed than anything, so much so that quite a bit of condensation had built up in the container). If there was any of the miso ranch, it must have evaporated in the container. The crag rangoon was missing from my order but was on the receipt (DoorDash was able to refund). The buns were pretty good. The pork belly was my favorite, with bulgogi taking 2nd and tofu coming in last. The pork belly was a nice balance of sweet and spicy, while the bulgogi had a bit too much sauce vs bulgogi meat (more tiny bits of meat). The tofu was pretty 'meh', it was a nice chunk of tofu but even the sauce didn't make it memorable. With the size of the buns, definitely take advantage of the 'happy hour' discount. If I ordered again, I'd probably just go for the pork belly.

First things first did you know that Maketto has been around for 11 years! That's amazing, especially for a small business. And I fully understand why, because this place is a gem. Maketto is a Cambodian, Taiwanese blend restaurant that is surprisingly open from 9 am- 10 pm most days. I love the vibes, the exposed brick, the food, drinks, and the bartender was super friendly. So my friend was telling me that the restaurant used to be half retail store and half restaurant. I'm sure I would've wanted to come in here just to browse all the time because they're definitely trendy and in tune with the culture. Now to my experience. I tried their fried chicken wings and the lo mein. Both are medium plates and large portions. Between my friend and I we were stuffed at the end of dinner and still took some food to-go. All of their dishes come family style and they are not skimping you with the portions. The food was all fresh and soooo flavorful! Kudos to chef Erik, who also owns/created Providencia up the street. I'm so excited to come back to try more because everything sounds delicious. One little word of advice is to check if the restaurant has a private event booked before heading over. I recently tried to go for an early dinner on a Saturday and there was a wedding getting ready to happen. BRAVOOO Maketto, I will be supporting frequently :)

I had sooo many meals from here since I went to UMD. When I crave for rice dish or a cozy beef noodles soup, I always go to this spot. Honestly, it's not up to par as to Taiwanese restaurants in Rockville, but it's also not mediocre and it's quite good value for the price. One thing I have to give it a solid 4/4.5 is the popcorn chickens and fried snacks, it's huge in portion and taste very close to actual Taiwan flavor. It always comes out piping hot and juicy. Very satisfying. On the other hand the drinks are meh, I'd rather walk a little further for other brand's boba milk teas. It's more of a food cafe than for drinks. I would recommend for students and staffs at UMD, but I won't go there if I have to purposely drive to this place. I believe there's better somewhere else but it's very convenient and solid lunch for UMD. (UMD don't really have too much Taiwanese food options, this is about it)

It's usually packed with Asian folks who come for A&J's dim sum-style food. The food is described as "Northern style" Chinese, and it's definitely not Americanized. I've eaten many a bowl of noodles here, but my favorites are the Dan Dan Mian (with hot spicy sesame sauce and peanuts) and Xue Cai Ro Si Mian (shredded pork and mustard green noodle soup). I've also enjoyed Ma La Er Si (sliced pigs ears with hot and spicy seasoning) and Pi Dan Dou Fu (tofu with Thousand Year Egg) - things I doubt will EVER show up on a menu in my hometown. And the dumplings: oh my. I think I've tried them all, and haven't found one yet I wouldn't order again. The only downside to A&J (besides it being a drive for me) is their cash-only policy. Fortunately there are lots of nearby ATMs, but beware if it's your first visit. Prices are very reasonable and portions are perfect, so overall value is great. I have kept this place in the back of my mind, with fond memories, however, have not visited in some years due to multiple moves around the country. Recently, my friend was organizing a casual gathering for our friend group, and asked ChatGPT if there were any good recommendations for food in the area that was affordable and delicious, and A&J came up as a top choice. So I came back to A&J after almost 10 years, and the food was just as good as I remembered. The decor remained simple and unchanged, but this is very typical of Asian restaurants. The menu was large, and it's easy to order by circling items you want on the paper menu. We had a mix of noodle soup bowls (so many different flavors and styles) and appetizers, and everything we tried was delicious. Our bill came out to less than $25 per person with tip. I could imagine more pretentious Chinese restaurants downtown upcharging a lot more for lower quality Chinese food (Queen's English, for example). It was so good and affordable, that I actually ended up coming back the next day with a different friend. Overall, excellent experience, and I will be back again soon! One interesting tidbit, my coworker who grew up in the Midwest and only eats meat, potatoes, absolutely no vegetables, started going here for lunch and loves it. I think flour-based items (noodles, dumplings, buns) are really the star of the restaurant, and this can be enjoyed across different taste palates! I hope you will give this place a try.
