No sausage for breakfast? That's like half the menu. Only a few people working and a long wait and line. Close this location.

13 Indian Taste & Salad is a casual Indian food eatery located within the Finger Lakes Premium…read moreOutlets in Waterloo, NY. We were on the road between Canandaigua and Seneca Falls, and saw they had largely great reviews online despite recently opening up, so decided to roll the dice, but were sadly disappointed. The interiors (1/5) are very spartan without any sort of ambiance or atmosphere whatsoever. There is no music playing and one side of the seating area in the back left of the place has plain white walls and no decoration, while half of the space is not an eatery, but rather a store selling Indian clothing attire (a very bizarre set up that I've never seen in my travels). There seemed to be one lady running the entire food side of the eatery, but was only there maybe 10-15% of the time while spending the rest of the time in the kitchen. What seemed to be her son was at the front entry area, so the eatery was without any sort of adult supervision presence for 85-90% of the time. Service (1.5/5) was so absent/bad, that several customers just left after being seated and pretty much ignored. Multiple tables had to ask for cups just to have water, and were given flimsy little plastic cups. The water was unfiltered and we felt it had a funky taste to it. In plain sight of the customers, the lady/waitress was cleaning utensils in the middle of the eatery using brown paper towels at an island covered with plastic straws, a bottle of Shout cleaning spray, coffee creamer, and a half empty bottle of water on it. I like to give small businesses the benefit of the doubt, but it was amateur hour and a comedy of errors on how not to run an eatery. I wouldn't refer to it as a restaurant and rather call it an eatery since there was so much left to be desired. We were hoping to have a quick lunch as we had to hit the road, so just ordered a paneer tikka masala and dal makhani with 2 orders of naan for our main course. It took a very long time for food to come out, but was decent when it finally did. The dal makhani (4.5/5) was the star of the show and was tasty. The paneer tikka masala (2.5/5) looked nothing like pictures of an orangish tomato-based gravy I had seen online. Just so there was no miscommunication, I showed her pictures of the gravy I had wanted from prior recent online reviews, but we got a dish with a red colored gravy that was loaded with red dyed food coloring. We noticed it had dyed our fingers a slight reddish color a few hours after the meal (once again, this has never happened before to us after eating Indian food). The dish was otherwise pretty tasty, but like the dal makhani, it was pretty small in portion size compared to other eateries/restaurants. The naan (2.5/5) was similarly small in size and tasted average otherwise. The real kicker was when we had asked for some additional rice, and she failed to inform us there was an additional charge for it. It would have been nice if there was some sort of transparency by letting the customer know rather than just adding a random $5 additional charge to the check after the meal, especially since 95% of the Indian places I go to eat offer additional rice complimentary. You aren't presented with a check, so you have to head up to their main desk area to pay on a tablet. This is when I noticed that they also tack on a 4% "admin fees" listing on checks which isn't disclosed anywhere either. All in all, the additional charges when it came time to pay added insult to an already dull and slow paced meal (took well over an hour, so you can't expect a quick lunch). I really hate to bash a small business and wanted to give them 2 stars, but this is one of the rare times I'm deducting an additional star for tacky undisclosed charges and poor communication with the customer. This was a one and done meal for us at 13 Indian Taste & Salad for us, and I cannot recommend them to others. Hopefully the business finds this review as an opportunity to step up their game to better serve their customers and communicate fees better.

If you like real Indian food don't hesitate to stop in. The food was so good and we were so hungry I forgot to take a picture before we devoured it. We had vegetable samosas, butter chicken, chicken korma and garlic naan (even though we ordered butter naan). All were equally delicious!

The place was busy and when a table is available, you seat yourself. Service was very friendly and attentive. Reason for 4th star. Worth stopping when in the area and will return, next trip to the outlets. Just no lemonade or turkey dinner! Private parking, large lot. Milk shakes oh my. Unique menu, with interesting toppings. Vanilla milk shake was excellent. Stay away from their lemonade. Very disappointed. Pepsi machine and tasted poorly. TURKEY DINNER WAS JUST OK. SIDE Salad came with the dinner. Very fresh. Next trip getting their Julienne Salad. Looked amazing. Roast Turkey Dinner - Just like Thanksgiving, Not! There was live music in the back room, so we opted for a booth in the front room so we could have quiet dinner conversation. Alisha was great. She explained the menu, the Mac & cheese, and the dairy bar in the adjacent bldg. We ordered dinner and it was out quickly. Hubby had the entree of brisket & pulled pork with a side of veggies and the Mac & cheese. The Mac & Cheese is so, so good. We ordered some to take home for my son! My balsamic chicken entree was delicious - I loved the side of carrots & zucchini- very fresh & unique! Great dinner, no hesitation to come back here. And, we did have to wander over to the dairy bar and check out the ice cream too! On the way, we noticed lots of outdoor seating and maybe a little stage too. There is live music regularly! Hubby got a shake & I had a dish of hard ice cream. It hit the spot! Thanks so much!

First, the cafe itself is clean, bright, and welcoming. It has a pleasant interior where you place and pay for your order and then received a numbered sign. Second, it has a large, free parking lot (associated with Generations Bancorp of NY) which is super-convenient for drivers. Third, the breakfast sandwich was delicious. My wife particularly enjoyed her omelette with fresh locally-grown tomatoes and avocado. Fourth, the regular brewed coffee here is phenomenal. Overall, I would strongly recommend Cafe XIX for Saturday brunch just before visiting the Women's Rights NHP museum. As an added bonus, you can walk across the street from the parking lot and see the Ripples of Change outdoor sculpture of four women, including Harriet Tubman and Sojourner Truth with a lovely background across the lake.
