We were at a spa retreat in Skaneatles and decided to have breakfast here before heading home. From the outside it did not look as large as it really is. It's an open floor plan with ample booth or table seating. We loved how bright and clean this diner is. Our server, Alexa, was very busy yet was attentive and friendly to us. I had the Honey Waffle with cinnamon sprinkled whipped butter cream and a cup of really good coffee. My bestie had the "Sweets Meets the Meat" consisting of two huge blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs with cheese and sausage. She really enjoyed it! For starters, I don't need a fork the size of a shovel. Smaller cutlery is in order. Whatever they are using to fry their obviously frozen hash browns and frozen home fries needs an upgrade. Cheap oil doesn't cut it for me. Their pancakes are horrendous. You could dump a gallon of syrup on them and they would still be dry enough to chamois your car. And how about real maple syrup instead of corn syrup or whatever abomination they serve in tiny plastic containers. Summary: using the cheapest ingredients in a breakfast joint is sinful. read more

Bright, clean and modern breakfast/lunch place in the village. Nothing fancy, but serves both breakfast and lunch when they are open (thin they close at 2 pm). We stopped on the opening day of Dicken's Christmas and were able to get seated immediately. Service is good. I ordered a grilled chicken salad, which was fairly large. I tried my husband's corn beef hash, which was very good. I noticed they rushed an order out for a man who had a small restless child with him, and was happy to see they got the order out so quickly. Clover's was a great choice after yoga! My daughter and I each had a Greek egg white omelette and could have easily shared it. We also had a blueberry pancake that we shared and the blueberries were delicious! Ryan was our service and service was STELLAR! On time and kind. I guess the only thing I could be super picky about is the ambiance was clean and crisp yet the food and feel would be more welcoming if it was a bit more warm and cozy. Today I wanted to enjoy a nice meal with my family, but instead we waited an hour to be served and waited another 30 minutes for our food to come out to us. The eggs were undercooked, the quiche was burnt, and the cinnamon French toast had no cinnamon in it. The ambience of the restaurant was nice but servers would pass us left and right and would not stop to ask for our drinks or orders. We saw our server about 2 times the whole experience. Overall would not come back. We also had to help ourselves to our own boxes. I understand being busy I work in a restaurant myself, but this. THIS is unacceptable and unbelievable. read more

While Dickens Christmas was winding down, we went here for a late lunch. We didn't realize they were shortly closing, but they sat us anyways and were kind the hole time. One of my friends wanted to come here and I love a good diner. Unfortunately the food I ordered was inedible. I ordered the chipotle chicken sandwich, once it arrived it looked great but I then as I always do, tried to cut it in half and I literally could not. It was strange but I decided to pick it up and bite it... well the first bite was the horrible texture of undercooked chicken. Crunchy and not easy to bite through..I then looked at it and it was pinkish in color still. I immediately spit it out and had to go find our server to ask for something else. I asked very kindly if I could order something else and what was wrong with my food. Then nobody came to take the plate away so I ate my fries because I was starving and figured I wouldn't get any new ones. So After I had ordered the tuna melt in replacement(came w/chips) a woman came out to me and proceeded to tell me "we cook our chicken sous vide, it's not raw or undercooked" I was very taken aback and just said, "well grilled chicken shouldn't be crunchy in the middle..." she then continued to justify the clearly undercooked chicken and I just said okay so she would stop. I order grilled chicken 90% of the time I go out to eat, I've never had chicken as awful as this. I will never go back here. Oh and I also got charged for 2 sodas when we had two waters and one ginger ale.. disappointing. read more

After mourning the close of nearby Hilltop diner, I finally made my way over to Clover's to check out the second iteration. It was amazing and I've been back a second time to confirm how good it is. First off, atmosphere is clean, bright and comfortable. Service was great, coffee was always hot and topped off. The booths are comfy as well. The food is so good! I ordered the special avocado breakfast sandwich on a croissant with home fries. It's awesome they offer the home fries with onion but there is a small up charge for it. Have to say the home fries are some of the best in the area! Also, very reasonably priced food. Clean bathrooms.... All in all, such a welcome low-key diner in otherwise posh Skaneateles. read more

Went for breakfast on a Thursday afternoon. It was pretty crowded at around 1:00 and it closes at 2:00. We were greeted promptly and shown to a table. What a transformation from the old restaurant to this one! Everything is really clean and looks like a lot more seating in this new configuration. Our waitress greeted us and was very friendly and helpful with a few of our questions. The menu is small but that's ok what we ordered was very good and very reasonable. They do make their own pies but on this Thursday it was limited because they were just about sold out. The only drawback I have is that it's very loud in the back room where we sat and that was with it not being full, with a full restaurant I don't think you would be able talk with your eating companions. read more

Nice place with good food but I was very disappointed at the miss use of the available technology... the server took my card and disappeared into the ther room... I guess??? Gel really not cool. They use toast as their POS so I'm surprised they did not have the payment QR code on the bottom of the check so I could use my phone to pay... I get the conservative nature of restaurant operators but some of your patron are more forward thinking... and it's a card security issue. read more

Very cute breakfast or brunch spot with good pricing. However there was a decent wait for the food which other reviews have noted (and this was when it wasn't very busy) and the food came out lukewarm and just average. The cinnamon French toast wasn't especially cinnamon-y so it didn't seem very different from regular French toast. There is a paid public parking lot behind the building and it's close to all the other stores and restaurants in Skaneateles. There is a limited amount of outdoor seating as well. read more

What an incredible addition to Skan, I'm so glad they opened this cute little diner. The space is open, clean, and simply decorated. The service was friendly and prompt, the food was fresh and delicious. Breakfast (and lunch) is served all day, they're open until 2pm. They've got a lot of seating and even though they were busy, we were sat right away. The prices are almost unbelievable, entire meals for $8-10, steak breakfast is $12.99! We went to Clover's for breakfast based on reviews on our last day in Skaneateles. Looking for good diner food, we were beyond disappointed and we are not picky people! Coffee was weak, OJ was watered down, potatoes were cold, quiche was meh and the fritatta was a mess on a plate. My husband, who usually can eat anything, couldn't eat the fritatta. I don't know if you can even call it a fritatta - as there were no eggs in it. Alot of money spent for a disappointing breakfast. The waitress obviously saw that we didnt eat most of our food and didn't bother to ask how things were. The plus side was that we were seated quickly and the place is very clean. I have been to Clovers many times. This is the first time was very disappointed. I had made reservation for 9 people (10:30am) and arrived 10 minutes early. We were seat by a lovely hostess. Our waitress arrived soon after we arrived. Mary was not friendly, I felt like we were a bother to her. We ordered our food and waited and waited and waited. She came over once to ask if she could refill our drinks. Never gave us an update on our order. 45 minutes later no food. 3 of the people in our party needed to leave by 12. I asked about the status for our order, and she says they are starting to work on it. We waited another 5 - 10 minutes and the 3 who needed to leave left. Mary, our waitress, brought over the food 10 minutes after the 3 left. We told her they had to leave, and she said OK. No apology!! I have always had good service, but this time it was terrible. This place SUCKS. It feels completely unmanaged. Our service was horrible. My 81 year old mother who is experiencing the early stages of Alzheimer's asked for more half and half and our server looked annoyed. Later, she noticed there was no silverware for two out of four in our party and requested more silverware. The server again looked irritated, left and came back with a wad of silverware and napkins he through down in the middle of the table. Next was the food. First it was cold. Cold toast with scant butter on most and none on mine. Finally, worst part was the home fries were way undercooked, practically raw and crunchy. Gross! When we informed our server, he replied, "Oh, I'm sorry, that sometimes happens..." and did nothing else! Didn't offer to bring over some properly cooked ones or take a bit off our bill, nothing! The omelets were decent but, again, cold. In fact, after we had been waiting a good long time for our food, I stood up and peeked over at the kitchen and could see our orders sitting there waiting to be delivered (three omelets isn't hard to miss) and there it sat for a good ten minutes until I looked again and, some other server noticing, brought the food over. Overall, the vibe of the place is just hectic, and everything looks cheap, like decor from Home Goods to dress up what looks like a school cafeteria. It's hilarious that they offer "merch" because who would ever want to buy a memento to advertise they ate at this mediocre place? read more

We stopped in for breakfast on day one of our vacation in Skaneateles and we were impressed. Service was a little slow to start but it was a busy morning for them. I had a sausage, Swiss and mushroom omelet and it was awesome - I rarely finish my breakfast but I had to with this one. The homemade cracked wheat toast is well worth the up-charge. Fair warning home fries were very heavy on garlic - I love garlic so it worked for me but if you don't love garlic I would recommend asking for a substitute. read more
