Charming seafood restaurant, right on the Skaneateles lake. Views are amazing. Service was very good. There is street parking but it is meter parking. They have a bar with great cocktails. I like that they offer sushi and the sushi was very fresh. I recommend the kani salad.

Nice greeting and choice of seating. There is really no great view of the water. The outdoor seating has some view through a tree, open indoor seating the view is blocked by the boathouse roof, and indoor seating has a view of water by the pier. The soy sauce was gross. It had caked on food. See pic. The waitress was not very friendly, more of a short quick take the order and move on. The coconut shrimp were super greasy, my husband patted them down with the napkin. They were small, and the shrimp were not firm, but soggy. The main dish was mahi mahi over rice. The rice in my husbands was okay, my rice was crunchy, like it was scraped off the bottom of the pot. I told our server she just said she will let the back know. Never brought new rice. That was it. Will probably not return to this place.

July 2025: we were visiting the Skaneateles area and wanted to grab a bite to eat downtown. Most of the top rated restaurants that were recommended were either fully booked or closed. We walked past Blue Water Grill and liked that it was on the water and they had one high top table open for two inside, so we took it. We were seated at a tabletop in the back of the restaurant in a corner across from the back bar. We both felt it was very warm inside the restaurant, it seemed like they didn't have air conditioning and it was 85 degrees outside. It was uncomfortable for us but we were hungry. The menu was large with a variety of items- from sushi, to hamburgers, to salads, steak, curry, pasta, and more. We ordered the Classic Napoleon and a few sushi rolls for dinner. I liked the Napoleon because I liked the combination of the pineapple, onion, and avocado. My husband thought it had too much red onion and needed a starch. The maki was okay. Overall, a nice place to stop if you want a variety of menu options and a decent meal.

Wanted to recognize Blue Water for their awesome brunch. They have a very fun and unique bloody Mary bar, where you can customize your Bloody Mary and create your own skewers. The eggs benny was delicious and a good portion size. Our server was super kind and kept an eye on our table in case we needed anything. Overall, great experience and will be back!

Originally from the area and grew up coming to Blue Water and the quality is still top notch with great service and a varied menu. No matter what, you gotta get the bread. It's still from the patisserie and softs and delicious. While I've had a lot of meals here in the past, came here closer to closing on a Friday and they were still happy to serve us and our server was a delight. I had the curry mussels which was a delight! Not too spicy but very warm and tasty. It's a great dish to share, though I had just for me. Lots of mussels, excellently cooked, and more of that amazing bread to dip in too! This place does remain the best and absolute lake front restaurant, great for brunch, lunch, happy hours, dinner, an a great all year round lake adjacent dining experience.

Fish tacos and a specialty mojito

I always enjoy my time at blue water grill as the service is always great and just a good energy overall. It typically gets busy for lunch time so we tend to find a seat in their bar area. Or if it's quieter my mom loves to sit with a view of the lake. The food is always delicious and the fish tacos are always a good choice that a filled to the max. We also love the shrimp corn chowder when they have it! I tried a mojito on their specials list but I didn't care for it. It tasted like candy with a side of bitterness. I'm not sure how to fully explain the taste but I usually enjoy mojitos, this flavor just wasn't a great mix. Overall I'll always come to blue water grill when I'm out in Skaneateles!

    Lobster bisque
    Linda M.

I stopped here for lunch with a few friends while in town for the Dickens Festival. It was a rainy damp day, and I really wanted a nice bowl of soup. I was very happy to see lobster bisque on the menu. Another in my party also ordered the lobster bisque. The other two split a huge order of nachos topped with black beans. The lobster bisque was amazing! I had nice chunks of lobster in every spoonful. It was creamy and smooth and perfectly seasoned, allowing the lobster to be the star of the dish. The nacho platter (it was huge) looked delicious. I tried a few bits. Everything tasted fresh. The generous wine pours topped off our lunch. We ate in the bar area. It was airy and comfortable but had no view of the lake. The main restaurant area had beautiful views, but considering the dreary day, it didn't matter. Excellent service was the topping on our quick meal. 2023-121

A fun spot right on the lake. Sushi was great! Service was amazing. Food and beer were pretty good! I would go back and definitely get more sushi!

    Sunday bloody Mary
    Tim K.

Specific to their popular Sunday noon time bloody Mary bar special, I have yet to find a better spot than right here on the lake. For $16 you get a bloody Mary with your choice of libation along with a 7 ounce corona with lime. Start by picking your favorite libation, then proceeded to a menu of olives, shrimp, assorted veggies, and various other foods to spear. You can get your glass rimmed with old bay or other flavoring to sip your beverage through. Pick from one of three tomato type mixes to finish off this party in a glass.

Didn't have brunch ends 2pm but some of our group enjoyed their Bloody Mary's with goodies and a beer. Others enjoyed their fried calamari, which was excellent. Great taste and fantastic dipping sauce. Bison burger with fries excellent taste and cooked perfectly. Salmon burger also was very good. Great food and service all around. Back area was busy and based on that noisy. Free parking on Sunday

This place was great! Service was very good and views of the lake and stream from the restaurant were also very cool. Crystal clear water so could see fish! It was quite busy so I would recommend a reservation if you plan to come at peak hours. As for the food, was pretty good. Everything was cooked to order and brought out very quickly. The food that we got wasn't anything to write home about, but I saw several people order lobster rolls which might be what I should get next time!

What a great place! Nice ambiance, lots of different places to sit (bar, high top, table, inside, outside) and super wait staff! We stopped in for lunch on a busy Sunday and were treated to live jazz. Ordered the scallop and corn chowder, and a few cocktails. Mains were lobster salad (hug portions of claw meat!) and butter chicken tacos (amazing!). Couldn't be happier!

The bar area smelled like a dive bar, drinks were made with low quality ingredients, sushi should be fresher. I was disappointed.

Was wondering if The Blue Water Grill had any outdoor seating? If so, do they accept reservations for lunch or dinner? Thanks

It appears in season summer, weather permitting that offer outdoor seating. They took reservations in the Winter for a group of 4.

I just finished my meal after ordering take-out. I had such a pleasant experience, from ordering…read moreover the phone (Matt P is a gem) to picking it up, just great. We ordered the karrage, crispy rice w/ spicy tuna, wagyu maki, yubi, HanHan, and the miso cod roll. Everything was fantastic. The karrage is a must get and we will order it again the next time we go. It's crispy and rather light for being fried. The same goes for the Crispy Rice w/ spicy tuna. These are two great appetizers. As for the rolls, everything was great. The fish tasted fresh and flavorful. I have nothing but good things to say about any of the rolls that we ordered. I can't wait to go back for their omekase experience. Overall, very happy with today's lunch. I would recommend it, especially if in Skan. It's away from the main road and has its own parking (big plus). The interior, while small, it's pretty nice. I would definitely want a seat at the sushi bar when I return. Again, great experience and I'd recommend visiting.

My husband got a Sapporo Black and I had the house iced tea.... beautifully flavored with mint and yuzu.We started with shrimp toast, not the traditional deep fried kind....but a lovely, lightly toasted piece of bread with chopped shrimp, whole grain Dijon mustard, sundried tomato and capers. It was a small but delicious bite. The next course we had Asian Caesar salad - grilled romaine with sesame dressing and toasted panko. It was crispy with a smokey flavor that was very good with the sesame dressing...the panko giving that extra little crunch. I especially loved the Fluke served in a fennel butter sauce with fried capers. I had three pieces of Nigiri as an add-on. Salmon, Striped Jack and Waygu. Incredible taste on all the pieces. The fluke was perfectly cooked, a little crispness, soft and flaky and the butter sauce and capers went so well with the fish. For dessert we had black sesame cheesecake with vanilla ice cream and sweet potato underneath. It sounds odd, but I really enjoyed it because of the subtle flavors that blended so well and it wasn't super sweet. The service from Navi was excellent from beginning to end. From taking our order to refilling water, checking if everything was good and answering my questions about different items. I'm looking forward to my next visit to try some items off the menu.

We were in town for an event and had one night to eat out. I wish I had picked a different place. The atmosphere was warm and our waitress was very nice but the food was mediocre, at best. The calamari appetizer was bland and chewy. The three of us didn't finish it and that's saying something because my gaggle is usually fighting for the last piece of any good calamari appetizer. The tastiest part was the bed of red sauce with spicy peppers but it lacked cohesion with the calamari. I had the braised beef ribs. Not only was it not fork tender, I've made better pot roast. I had to ask for salt and I can't remember the last time I've needed salt in a restaurant for a dish like this. The potatoes were the consistency of a thick sauce. Two stars because my husband said the lasagna was delicious, I enjoyed my wine, and the Caesar salad was good, but wait until I tell you my pepper story. So the pepper story... our waitress was very nice, but table service was a bit slow and when I asked one of the other staff for fresh ground pepper for the Caesar, she acted as if I asked for moon dust and responded, "I can bring you...pepper". Um ok, thanks, if it's not too much to ask. Our nice waitress came later with a little dish of coarse ground pepper which was appreciated by all at the table. My son thinks I should give it 3 stars because he enjoyed his pasta and meat balls but I think he's being generous because he's 12. I would have preferred dirty dishes to be cleared before new plates arrived. I don't want to shuffles plates around the table to make room.

I recently filled in a major gap in my CNY dining résumé with a visit to Rosalie's Cucina. I had…read morebeen reluctant to try it because most places that are hyped as much as Rosalie's has been over the past 30 years tend to disappoint, in my experience. Nope, not this time. Rosalie's is the rare exception that lives up to the hype and more. We arrived early for our reservation to enjoy a cocktail at the bar. From my brother's well-made Manhattan to my perfectly balanced Sidecar, the barmaid had some serious chops. And the impossibly long, thin, and crunchy breadsticks were unlike any I'd ever had. Addicting. Although it bills itself as an "Authentic Tuscan dining" restaurant (which the décor lives up to), the menu at Rosalie's is more Tuscan-influenced or maybe Tuscan-adjacent than strictly authentic Tuscan cuisine. There were grilled polenta and grilled, prosciutto-wrapped shrimp panzanella appetizers (which my sister-in-law ordered for her entrée; see below), but no baccalà or cacciucco or polpo. There was veal piccata, but also Sicily's veal Marsala and Southern Italian/Italian-American staples like manicotti and pizza margherita. I mention this to inform prospective diners, however, not to warn them off. The food at Rosalie's is amazing. One word to the wise: the serving portions are enormous. We were a party of three and ordered the carpaccio and grilled polenta appetizers and the antipasto affetati e formaggio as starters. That could have been our entire meal and we would have been very happily well-fed. We literally had trouble fitting all three on the table. The carpaccio was a huge portion and came on a gigantic plate. It was amongst the best I've ever had. The polenta had a perfectly char-grilled crust, yet remained nicely moist inside. But the antipasto easily stole the show. It came on a giant board that took up a quarter of the table and had enough "nibbles" to feed a family of five. Everything was superb, from the cured meats to the aged and fresh cheeses to the massive mound of shelled pistachios, but the little jar of honey was exceptional, especially when slathered on a hunk of the oven-fresh loaf of bread that was brought to the table as soon as we sat down. For the primi piatti we skipped the insalata and went with the zuppa del giorno, a deliciously rich cream of wild mushroom. The funghi were puréed, not whole, and the layers of flavor (was that a hint of sherry?) were sublime. That soup could easily do double duty as a sauce for game dishes, like venison or wild boar. For the secondi piatti, my brother and I went with the Maiale alla Milanese (pan-fried pork loin, roasted fingerling potatoes, wilted spinach, prosciutto, oven cured tomatoes, green beans, with a Dijon crab cream sauce), whilst my sister-in-law chose the Gamberi Grigliati di Panzanella appetizer (three grilled prosciutto-wrapped shrimp, panzanella salad with tomatoes, onions, olives, anchovy croutons, feta cheese, basil, lemon vinaigrette) mentioned above, which was easily an entrée-sized serving at most restaurants. The pork cutlets were served hot and had a perfect crispy crust while remaining juicy and tender inside, which is hard to pull off with cutlets hammered to a centimeter thick. My sister-in-law reported that, like the polenta, the shrimp had a nice char from the grill, but remained tender and succulent. My brother and I are notoriously big eaters, but we had already been served so much food that we needed to take home half our entrées if we were to have dessert. And you MUST save room for dessert! Alas, although we originally intended to try a selection of desserts, like the rest of the dishes, the portions were ginormous, so the three of us split a banana budino...and ended up taking half of it home! A word about the budino: although I was accustomed to budino being a cross between a soufflé and a lava cake (with lemon curd or gooey chocolate filling) cooked in a Bain Marie, this dessert was more akin to a mousse. Described as a house-made cinnamon-sugar phyllo shell filled with layers of fresh bananas, banana cream pudding and almond cookies, finished with caramel sauce and almond cookie garnish, the best word for this is decadent. The best word to describe the ambiance at Rosalie's is vitality. While some people think it is "loud," I think that's overstating it. The restaurant is small and is bustling with life. There were couples dining alone and two large, multi-generational families filling long tables set for ten and fourteen, respectively. Between the décor, the exceptional service (thank you, Eric!), and the other diners, I felt like I was back in Northern Italy for a few hours. This was one of the best meals I've had in my life and I strongly recommend you go out of your way to dine at Rosalie's.

Usually our go to, but disappointed last night.
