In the past (maybe around 2009), I was able to eat at Shake Shacks in NYC. Delicious food! Tonight I ate at this Shake Shack on the Thruway. I ordered only fries with cheese. How could that go wrong? What I got was fries and a plastic cup of cheese. Clearly the cheese was heated (microwave?) in the cup. When I stuck my first fry into it, the whole glob lifted out of the cup. The cheese was not dippable and was bland. My take away is to not eat at one of these Shake Shack wannabes. read more

Pros: tasty food and fairly quick. I ordered the veggie shack (burger) which the cashier told me would take a few minutes. I assume it's because they make those to order compared to the beef and chicken items which were coming out super quick. The veggie shack was great though! I didn't get fries but heard they were good. Cons: the digital menu flips frequently making it tough to read through. There's also limited seating inside. read more

Ok this is basically a get your stuff and go as it's at a highway rest stop. It's not a bad thing but be aware and also check your order before you leave. I've had SS (Shake Shack) before as we had one in Chicago I liked it.. everything was fresh, hot and I believe of the best quality you can get. This spot was started by Danny Meyer in NYC and it's been running ever since. We now have these at your NY Highway Rest Stops. Ordering was pretty easy but anything over $25 even with a card has to be signed for? Why? It's kind of annoying but whatever. We ordered two SS Burgers they come with Angus beef cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce on a toasted potato bun It's tasty all of it is We got fries a side of SS Sauce and a Chocolate Shake. So I get my order and noticed we only had one burger, fries and I was given the shake. Yes I asked "Hey where's my other burger" I get "oh they did not put it in the right place." I told her as you can see in the bag it's ONLY ONE BURGER AND THE FRIES. Duh.. she gave me the other burger. Now they are known for the freshness and etc but I wished everything was HOTTER.. that was a sticking point for me. It was almost $30 for this and yes I get it, it's at a rest stop but.. whatever. Since they share the space in the rest stop it's all light, bright and shades of green and blue and they have Starbucks and a convenience store. We were at the Junus Ponds stop. Shake Shack! I was so excited one came close than NYC but alas, this is super slow service. Took 30 minutes to fill 10 orders. They refuse to give you your beverage while you wait. Just keep this in mind if you're were thinking fast food at a rest stop. Food is decent but they don't have the full menu available and it takes Waaaay Too Long. read more

I've tried TWICE now to get a shake here. I've been coming home from concerts and get here right about 10pm. BOTH times, they've turned their shake machine off. They are supposed to close at 11. Given that "shake" is in their name, you might think they'd try to serve them to people while they're open. read more

Overpriced and underwhelming. First time eating at Shake Shack. I get it that a rest area location charges more but that was just way too expensive for a fast food meal. The Shack Burger was too greasy and average at best. read more

My first time at a shake shack which I have been hearing about for years. Be prepared to consume plenty of calories and bring a fat wallet! I ordered the 'shroom burger, a deep fried portobello on a bun with sauce, cheese, tomatoes and curly lettuce like you see in fast food photos. Everything is ala carte, so I said "Deb, you are this far, go for the fries and shake". So I did. Shroom burger was really good and crispy, but the entirety of the cheese fell off with the first bite. Lots of crinkle cut fries that tasted like fresh potatoes, so good. Oh, and the shake, chocolate, lived up to expectations. Food may take a little longer than other fast food places, but is fresh and served piping hot. My husband ordered a burger, fries and shake and our bill was just south of $40. read more

So excited to have a Shake Shack that is somewhat local to Rochester! I love their fries with cheese sauce, nothing can top them for me! The drive is always worth it! The service here is fast even though they're super busy. This is inside a NYS Thruway rest stop so it can get busy and noisy fast! Try and nab a seat with a table asap. The wait time wasn't bad since we did get there when it opened. I ordered the protein burger with the bun on the side & I definitely ended up eating my burger with the potato bun. It was just too messy trying to eat my protein burger without the bun but I had no regrets because the bun was soft & it had the perfect toast to it. The girls loved their shakes & the fries were fresh so that was a plus. I would definitely try other things on the menu the next time I come here. read more

This Shake Shack is located inside of a rest stop and because of this the prices are higher than at a regular location. However, the food is worth it! As someone who does not prefer crinkle cut fries, I was suprised to find that Shake Shack has made me a fan. The burgers are so juicy and flavorful. The inside does get busy and loud, so try to go at off times if you are sensitive to that. Overall, I would come back here for the food! read more

With a limited menu you'd think production would go more smoothly and rapidly. Service was slow af on a Sunday evening with not that many customers. This review is for the relatively new one on the Thruway at Clifton Springs. Service was extremely slow and they ran out of shakes. Very disappointing. I would've thought they'd be prepared on one of the most busiest travel days of the year. read more
