We stumbled upon this place and boy am I glad we did because the food was absolutely divine! I had the garnished tilapia with jollof rice and vegetables. Not sure what vegetables I was eating perhaps spinach but they were cooked to perfection. Bae had the garnished goat meat which was so tender and I appreciate the bite sized cuts instead of the chunky portions. I low key wished I had gotten the goat. We ended up getting a side of jollof rice because the goat meat plate did not come with any sides. I will definitely be back if I am on that side of town again. The four stars are because I wish they adjusted the spice levels. I like my food spicy and Bae who is Yoruba's spice level is not for this world! so the food wasn't as spicy to both of us as we would've liked. Service was a little bit slow, but I think it's because they do make the food fresh. Nice clean restaurant great customer service and cannot wait to be back next time I'm in humble

I recently had dinner at Bantu House with my daughter. I am not very experienced with African…read morecuisine outside of South African restaurants and a few Ethiopian-style places, so this was a very new experience for me. Overall, I found the food to be very flavorful, well seasoned, and unique. My daughter and I actually ended up liking each other's meals more than our own, so we switched plates, which worked out well. We also ordered a few extra items, including wings and yams. The pounded yam was interesting and very different from anything I usually eat. It is probably not something I would go out of my way to order again, but I am glad I tried it and now understand a little better how it is eaten. The one disappointing part of the visit was the ordering experience. The young man who rang us up was polite, but he was unable to make any recommendations. He said he had been working there for about three months and still could not really suggest what to order. For someone like me, who is unfamiliar with this type of food, recommendations would have been very helpful. I would have appreciated some guidance on the most popular dishes, common choices, or what first-time customers usually enjoy. That said, the owner was extremely kind. She came out to our table, spoke with us, and helped explain how to eat some of the food we had ordered. I really appreciated that. She came across as a very sweet person, and based on her hospitality alone, I would come back to support the business. This style of food may not personally be my cup of tea or something I will crave often, but I respect the flavor, the care, and the local business behind it. I would give Bantu House four stars. It could have been closer to 3.5 for me personally, mostly because of the lack of ordering guidance, but the owner's kindness and the quality of the food pushed it to four.

I shared the fufu with egusi soup with stewed goat added, the Stewed Hen, Moin Moin, & Jollof Rice, and the meat pie with a friend and it was plenty for both of us. The fufu with egusi soup was super delicious with a spicy kick that I loved (7/10) . The plate was the star of the meal. Everything from the stewed hen, to the rice, to the greens were all so well seasoned and I truly enjoyed every bite (8.5/10). The meat pie was also delicious with a savory filling and the pastry was thick and buttery but surprisingly not overbearing considering the pastry to filling ratio (8/10). Overall the food was awesome and seemed quite authentic. Would definitely come back to support this small local business!

When I woke up this morning and checked DoorDash it said that the order was picked up at 7:37pm and my card was charged $60, which is honestly too much for 2 soups and 2 appetizers. Also on top of that the location was sketchy, had no visible signage, and was dirty. Would not recommend this place at all if I could give negative stars I would.

AFTER SPENDING ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL WEEKEND MOVING OUR THINGS, I AND MY HUSBAND AND MY BROTHER AND HIS FIANCEE WERE EXTREMELY HUNGRY AROUND 8 P.M. AFTER NOT EATING ALL DAY. I go on doordash and see this restaurant. Of course, being Nigerian, we wanted good Nigerian food and there aren't many that are offered on doordash nor did we have the strength to make any NAIJA dishes at 8p.m. at night. So, we ordered our food for dishes... Okra soup, vegetable soup, jollof rice and another okra soup. My order was complete and processed around 8:19 pm. We go drive to get some water to pass the time and an hour had exhausted... Well, an hour and like 5 minutes... WHICH they said my order would be ready at 9:19. A lady calls shouting (Yoruba for whispering) asking if I was who I was and then further proceeded to tell me that our order had not been fulfilled yet... I'm looking puzzled like... What EXACTLY does that mean... And after I asked for clarification she has the AUDACITY to tell me that not only has the order not been fulfilled, the order had not even been MADE yet... As innnnnnnnnnm... Not even MADE. THIS IS OVER AN HOUR LATER AND THE ORDER HAD NOT EVEN BEEN STARTED YET. if you think that didn't have audacity written all over it already... They further had the NERVE to ask me to wait an ADDITIONAL 45 minutes to an HOUR for my order. Now come on... if you know what HUNGER does... Then surely you know what being hangry does to somebody. And I'm the POSTER child of HANGER. P I. S. S. E. D. That word does not even describe the HEAT that was coming from my body. BECAUSE OF THE RED THAT WAS SHOWING IN MY EYES... We opted for some pizza... (even though I'm lactose intolerance and really can't have white bread...) Just so I can have SOMETHING in my belly... I will... I repeat and EMPHATICALLY... I will NEVER order from this restaurant EVER again in LIFE and I will LITERALLY advise ANYONE that I know and love to NEVER do so. (IT'S ONLY AAAAAAAFTERWARDS THAT MY HUSBAND TOLD ME HE TRIED TO ORDER FROM THIS PLACE BEFORE AND IT TOOK THEM 2 HOURS AND 45 MINUTES TO FULFILL HIS ORDER... SMH LIFE!) it's a shame.

Ms. Ade was helpful and took time to explain what was available to order. I personally did not plan on eating Amala because I usually do not like/eat it. My friend ended up ordering the Amala, of course, and I got the goat pepper soup with a side of rice. To my lovelyyyyy surprise I ended up eating the Amala with my friend because IT. WAS. DELICIOUS! While ordering I did mention that I don't like/eat Amala and Ms. Ade confidently stated that if I ate theirs, I would enjoy. I'm so glad she was right. Easily a 9.5 out of 10. Our only critique was that it could've had a bit more meat. But the portion was great. We were even full and had some leftover. (no amala photos taken because we demolished it lol, a reason to go see/experience it for yourself) I did eat some of my pepper soup and it indeed was pepper-ish. Although it was yummy, it was a bit too much for my liking. I would recommend for those who have a very high spice tolerance. Ended up spending a little over $55 but highly worth it due to taste, portion size and service :) Would absolutely recommend and would revisit to order Amala that I used to not even eat lol.

I visited to place a takeout order of jollof rice and pepper goat soup. Pepper Goat soup can be spicy, but they did ask me me how spicy I wanted it. If you've never had goat soup I would compare it to oxtail soup. Oxtail are much larger pieces though. Goat is better, healthier and leaner than oxtail. It's also high in iron and low in saturated fats. This restaurant serves good quality food and friendly plus quick service. The pepper goat soup was delicious and meaty. For once, I've gotten a bowl of pepper goat soup that is mostly meat pieces versus gristle fatty parts. The soup and it's meat was seasoned perfectly. It was not too spicy at all to where I'd break a sweat just trying to eat it. It was definitely perfect. The jolloff rice was good and seasoned good too. I wil definitely be back for this meal. I'm so happy to have found authentic quality Nigerian food much closer to me in Katy. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you're looking for some good, quality healthy food with even lots of gluten free options.
