    Beef Egusi Stew Jollof Rice
    Quiana G.

The beef was a little dry and tough and I picked spicy for the egusi and the separate order of Jollof wasn't spicy either. I ordered it on UberEats but wasn't impressed perhaps it's better in person.

Food family!! This is by far one of the best Nigerian places I have been to in Houston. First and foremost the food is fresh and flavorful. The portions are definitely worth the price. I ordered this through Uber eats, I ordered the rice and efo riro and it was absolutely delicious! The real star of the show is that meat pie!! That meat pie is to die for! Hands down the best meat pie I have ever eaten. So buttery and flakey! Anytime I'm in Houston I will make sure I go in person to get the full experience. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Egusi Stew with Poundo & Peppered Chicken (2 pieces)

Tasted like home cooking. The Egusi Stew and the Peppered Chicken is bomb! The pounded yam (poundo) was smaller than I'd like. Would need two to go with the meal next time because I have a lot of stew left over. The meat pie had a buttery crust and the filling was very flavorful. Not a restaurant but part of a food hall. Order food at a digital kiosk and the wait was only 20 mins! I hate when Nigerian food spots take hours!

Was hankering for some Nigerian food tonight so ordered from Dupsy's Kitchen which recently opened and operates out of the ghost kitchen concept in Blodgett Food Hall (i.e. it is not a sit down restaurant). I had some egusi stew (a stew thickened with dried and ground melon seeds) that included spinach, collard greens, red pepper purée, cow skin, tripe, crawfish, and palm oil. Also present was peppered chicken and the obligatory poundo (pounded yam). I may not be a Nigerian food expert, but this also wasn't my first rodeo, so I can attest that the food and its flavor were excellent. The only drawback was that it wasn't very spicy, which is something I normally encounter and expect with Nigerian food. Regardless, I look forward to ordering again in the future to sample some of the other stews (designer, efo riro, beef) as well as other traditional Nigerian dishes like jollof rice, fried plantains, meat pies.

Delicious cuisine once again! Goat stew and peppered chicken! I am loving African food! Yummmmyyy

The food wasn't flavorful at all very bland , the chicken was tough, Clementine was very amazing though and also I loved the fufu and the sauce that the chicken was in

The food took way too long to be prepared. Our shrimp was burned. Flavors were good but the portion sizes could've been bigger.

They always have a sample of the Golden Bowl for anyone to taste & it's absolutely my go to dish. All the ingredients work well together in this Golden Bowl. The chicken, jollof rice, veggies, the sweet of the plantain with the spice in the curry makes for a delightfully seasoned bowl. I will admit the spice made my nose run but yet I would only describe it as a "subtle" spicy dish. One day I'll try another dish but for now. That golden bowl speaks to me everytime. I had leftovers & even the next day my taste buds got happy all over again! Never had Nigerian West African food or had it somewhere else, try it here, it's delightful!! My daughter and I actually ended up liking each other's meals more than our own, so we switched plates, which worked out well. We also ordered a few extra items, including wings and yams. The pounded yam was interesting and very different from anything I usually eat. It is probably not something I would go out of my way to order again, but I am glad I tried it and now understand a little better how it is eaten. The one disappointing part of the visit was the ordering experience. The young man who rang us up was polite, but he was unable to make any recommendations. He said he had been working there for about three months and still could not really suggest what to order. For someone like me, who is unfamiliar with this type of food, recommendations would have been very helpful. I would have appreciated some guidance on the most popular dishes, common choices, or what first-time customers usually enjoy. That said, the owner was extremely kind. She came out to our table, spoke with us, and helped explain how to eat some of the food we had ordered. I really appreciated that. She came across as a very sweet person, and based on her hospitality alone, I would come back to support the business. This style of food may not personally be my cup of tea or something I will crave often, but I respect the flavor, the care, and the local business behind it. I would give Bantu House four stars. It could have been closer to 3.5 for me personally, mostly because of the lack of ordering guidance, but the owner's kindness and the quality of the food pushed it to four.

It's West African cuisine, which is not exactly something you see on every street corner. But more importantly, this food is clearly made with love.
