Wow... amazing milk tea. Just get perfect sweetness level, I tried to order less sweet but after I tried their sample I just went with their regular sweetness. I ordered their classic boba milk tea without ice and it was perfect. The best boba milk tea I have had so far (It rank neck and neck with my favorite Ceylon tea). Service was great and nicely decorated inside. Highly recommended.
Holy crap this is actually some of the best boba I've ever had as someone who loves boba with a PASSION and has had many all over la. This tea house makes it fresh and you can tell because the boba is still warm in the cold drink. The tea isn't too milky or strong and it's super nice. I really like the vibe of this place they play good music and the wall decor is cool. My drink also came out fast. Highly recommend!
I wanted a drink after eating lunch. I was craving for something with lemon, so decided on trying the high mountain tea with lemon juice. I ordered from the kiosk. Waited for about five minutes. Ambiance was fine. The tea and the lemon juice was fine. Can't wait to try another drink next time. My first time at this branch. I have been to other branches.
Having enjoyed this spot in the Pacific Northwest, I was eager to try this location. I ordered the osmanthus oolong tea with boba. While the tea itself was great, the boba was a bit disappointing- it was chewy, but lacked soft, consistent texture, with some pearls being noticeably firmer than others. Despite the mixed boba quality, the flavors were solid, and I'd definitely return to give it another shot!
This place is always popping with a line out the door so I had to try it for myself. The line is almost always very long, but moves fairly fast. They have both a self serf kiosk and a cashier processing orders. Orders are made very quickly. Interior is nice and has a modern, upscale element about it. I've been here twice. The first time, I ordered the passion fruit green tea and it was extremely delicious. The second time, I had their standard jasmine milk tea with boba. The jasmine milk tea was above average--not the best I've ever had but certainly very good. The boba pearls themselves were excellent and I could taste the quality. Overall I would not hesitate to come back here. My go to the next time, would for sure be the passion fruit green tea, it's just so good. This place is a worthwhile stop a tier above your typical milk tea shop. Brave the long line and indulge in their delicious passion fruit green tea.
I've been to the location in San Gabriel and I am so happy that we have them here in west LA now When I walked into the store and the aroma of tea said hello itself Me and my friend went on a Saturday afternoon They offered a touch pad panel so people can order themselves but we preferred to order from the employee The assistant was very sweet and introduced what they were promoting and also gave us the sample to try I finally decided my high mountain tea with floral honey with konjac and it tasted so delicious ! I loved the aftertaste of the tea itself and I could smell the floral scent. We walked outside and sitting there to enjoy our tea there! Note: parking garage and street parking are all available
I have mixed feelings about Chicha and honestly I think it comes down to the drink you order! I've been here on multiple occasions since grand opening to try different drinks and each one is a hit or miss for me. My personal favorites are the taro bubble milk tea and mango tart - these are definite hits. The taro tastes balanced with just the right amount of sweet, whereas the mango is more of a refresher/great as a summer drink Service is standard and the interior looks clean and modern. Parking can be validated in the plaza's underground parking structure, or you can park on the street/at the Michael's structure and walk. I just wish the drinks weren't so expensive... these were near $10 each. I'm not sure if they've fixed the photobooth, but hope that has been done as it was down the last couple of times I went.
Yes, yes I know the parking is hard in Sawtelle but there's the undeground parking, meter, etc. The shop itself is very sparkling clean, friendly staff and you can watch them brew the tea and make your drinks. That being said, it does take a while for your drinks to be made. I believe we got the most popular milk tea drink that was recommended. The milk tea drink itself had a soft foamy top, not too sweet and the boba balls were nice and chewy. I guess that frothy texture threw me off. I also expected more of a tea flavor but it was a bit lost on me. This is my third time trying Chicha San Chen in a third location and I think its just not for me. Check it out if you're a fan and curious of the hype. Glad to have it locally in Sawtelle for others.
Oooo this place is GOOD. First off it's super cute & is giving the ikea of boba tea. Customizable, aesthetic, friendly service. I loved this cutie westside stop. Parking is notoriously tough around here but I snagged a prepaid meter nearby and was in and out under 10 min! Def make a couple rounds & don't be scared to walk a block. I went with a delicious unsweetened oolong, cream top + boba. Everything is made fresh to order, and I loved walking out with my adorable lil boba purse.
This might be my favorite new tea spot! This is more of a traditional tea brew place with more tea drinks than milk tea. I went with the honey oolong and got the orange lemon pouchang for my partner. Both were brewed fresh and made to order and they were both refreshing and delicious! You can order at the kiosk or there is someone available for in person ordering. Even though it was made to order it did not take long. Not to mention parking is validated up to 30 minutes. For Sawtelle, parking is a must!
Taiwanese tea chain CHICHA San Chen currently has a foothold in Los Angeles and the chain recently opened this new location in one of the busiest parts of LA - Sawtelle Japantown - where other competitors like Odd One Out Tea, Volcano Tea House, Noble Tea, and Teaspoon are all located within two blocks of each other. Heck, that's not even mentioning that CHICHA San Chen is located literally next to popular regional coffee chain Alfred Coffee with Tomo Coffee just a block away. So I guess CHICHA San Chen is certainly not afraid of the competition. [Parking]: To my surprise, it was nearly impossible to find street parking in Sawtelle at 10 PM on Friday. Luckily, the plaza where CHICHA San Chen is located offers 30 minutes of free underground parking with validation. Bring your parking ticket with you and the staff at the shop will stamp it. [Atmosphere & Ordering]: This location has several indoor tables and an outdoor bench to sit, but no seats were available on Friday night. Single-file line to order drinks and customers can order through a kiosk or with the staff; however, most customers wanted to try the free drink sample so they mostly waited for staff assistance. The shop only lets customers sample whatever featured drink they have available at the moment, but customers can also smell the aromas of various tea leaves at the ordering counter. [Menu]: The laminated menu lists several popular drinks including Bubble Milk Tea, Bubble Volcano, Creamy Mango Lemon Tart, Honey Osmanthus Oolong Tea, Orange Lemon Pouchong Tea, Classic Fruit Tea, and Passion Fruit Green Tea. Came here after a looooong day in LA looking for something light and refreshing and I definitely found what I was searching for!!! I got the honey osmanthus oolong tea because it was one of the top recommended drinks on the menu and I thought it was the perfect balance of sweetness and tea flavor. There were also some samples of honey cassia black tea set out which was also VERY good!!! I don't have much to say about the milk teas but my drink was very good and I would definitely come back the next time I make a trip to LA! The store itself is also very nice and clean and the service was pretty standard. There are two kiosks on right side when we walked in which is always pretty handy since we can take our time thoroughly looking through the menu. Also not the first time I've seen these types of carrying strings but it really comes in handy when you're in a walkable city like LA.
Last month, I visited ChiCha San Chen for the first time. I went to the new Sawtelle location with my friend on Saturday afternoon, and it was packed. The shop space is small, yet clean and well-lit with some tables and casual vibes. I got the Osmanthus Oolong Tea with light sugar and normal ice ($7.25), which was fragrant and refreshing with the perfect amount of sweetness. The cup packaging was neat as well. Additionally, I wanted to note my order/pick-up experience and bring awareness to those planning to visit during the shop's peak times. During my visit, ordering was quick, but picking-up took a while. Every receipt had an order number and I knew I was going to have to wait a bit, but several numbers past mine were already called, so I asked the staff at the counter about the status of my order. They verified my receipt, apologized for the delay, and made my drink right away. I don't know how my order was missed, but luckily, the situation was resolved after I checked with the staff. Finally, about 20 minutes after I placed my order, I got my drink and a free tea bag as an apology from the staff. Honestly, the customer service made up for the ordeal. I may return to this location at a less busy time to avoid repeating this situation.
I love CHICHA San Chen. I originally go to the one in Rowland Heights. However, like many others, I went to this CHICHA San Chen for the LE SSERAFIM event. The STAFF is actually the best part of the event. The way they handled the event, they are such troopers. The Weverse staff and CHICHA San Chen staff made sure to check the line, gave updates if there was low stock in photo cards. While I did not get free merch myself because there was so many excited fans, I was not surprised by the outcome because they gave us continuous updates throughout the line. Because of how good the communication was, I was not surprised that the photo cards and free merch was well loved and sold out. We still had an opportunity to leave messages for LE SSERAFIM and hang around the store! I am really thankful that the CHICHA San Chen staff let us hang around the store even after purchasing a drink. Many fans stuck around and it gave me the opportunity to meet other fans and FEARNOTs. While this could have been considered loitering and push other customers away due to the crowd, the staff was kind and let us hang around. The Weverse staff made sure to stop the line at times to make sure the CHICHA Staff can catch up on drinks. The quality of these drinks is so good that it needs special attention - because of this detail level of care, my drink (Made my Night) which was a black tea with cream (basically boba black milk tea) I would say, even tasted better than CHICHA RH!!!! Despite the crowd, the staff still treated us kindly, respectfully, and with a smile on their face. Shout out to the workers Jess and Phoebe - they really added to my experience and I will definitely come back to CHICHA San Chen in Sawtelle. For events and collabs, I fully recommend this location, especially from my experience yesterday! read more

I love Chicha San Chen and think they have really high quality tea, but I think I ordered the wrong thing here. This location is relative small with only a couple tables for seating. There is some outdoor seating as well. I came for a post lunch drink on Sunday afternoon. I was surprised to see there wasn't a line, but not long after I ordered, a bunch of people joined the line. Guess I got lucky with my timing. You can either order from the cashier or use the tablet next to the register to order. I've had it before in other locations and love their Dong Ding Oolong Tea, so I got it here as well for $7.25. In the other locations, the drink was on their popular drinks menu and I never had to customize it myself. However, because it's not on their popular drinks menu here, I had to choose between cream, mousse, and milk myself. The cashier recommended milk, so that's what I went with, but it wasn't what I wanted. I looked up my previous review and apparently cream is what I should've ordered. Will keep that in mind going forward. I got it with light sweetness, since I prefer drinks less sweet, but it was not sweet enough. Next time I will go with perfect sugar. read more

Creamy lemon tart is my go to order at Chicha San Chem. This was my first time at this location, they barely added any lime zest flavor in the foam here compared to other locations First time trying the osmanthus with orange, I usually get the honey osmanthus oolong which has a perfect balance of osmanthus with tea flavor, but since it was so hot this day I wanted to try something new and refreshing. The orange flavor was refreshing and not too sweet at the recommended level, but with it added I did not get any osmanthus or oolong flavor at all. Had lunch in Sawtelle and walked over to check out this new location. I parked elsewhere but it seems they also have garage validation. There's a few tables inside and some outdoor seating in the plaza. Lots of customers awaiting their orders but no line for placing an order. Super excited to see the return of the taro series, especially since the SGV and Koreatown locations don't have it. I ordered the taro milk tea as I'm a huge fan of the taro balls and taro paste and it didn't disappoint. Would highly recommend this drink, or any in the taro series, if you're a taro fan. Their green milk tea with taro balls is also an amazing drink. Quick service, friendly staff, would come back again. read more
If you look at my page, you'll see I rarely give 5 stars. It has to be really really good for me to give it 5 stars, and this place IS! It's our new favorite boba spot. It's usually pretty crowded but the line moves fast. You can also order online. I always get the bubble boba with less sugar (it's the perfect amount of sweetness like that). My hubby gets the taro latte because he says the taro balls are way better than boba. They validate parking in the structure for 30 minutes! Staff is always really nice. And it's cute inside with plenty of seating. read more

This tea chain will be my new go-to if I'm ever near a location! Loved it. Fresh tea, brewed in front of you and served the way you like it. I got mine iced with konjac jelly. There is a decent amount of seating, not sure how busy it would be get during rush hours. They went with a simple ambiance and perfected it inside. read more
I'm genuinely happy they opened up a location in Sawtelle, gone are the days that I've to sit in traffic for an hour to drive to SGV for this. Hands down my top 5 boba spot in LA, no cap. Even if you don't care for tapioca balls, this is still worth trying because they are tea-emphasis boba store. Ambience is clean and bright, they have their own tea machine and they are well staffed (unlike boba stores with just one staff being there for the whole thing). Love it. read more
We tried two different teas here, and both were very refreshing.It looked like they have tables for tea tastings, but when I visited on a Sunday afternoon, I didn't see any tasting or tea consultation sessions taking place.The brewing machines were unique, and it was fun watching how they prepared the tea. However, I didn't notice a significant difference in flavor compared with other tea shops. read more

I got the black tea with mousse and boba, regular ice and regular sugar, and it was SO good. My friend got the passion fruit green tea and it was super refreshing and really well balanced, not overly sweet or artificial tasting. We actually went back and got the bubble milk tea too because they were handing out samples and it was also so good. Easily the best milk tea and fruit tea spot on Sawtelle right now. We got our drinks in under 20 minutes. Staff were friendly, offered samples, took our order quickly, and overall the service was great. Yes, it's a little pricey, but honestly worth it. Great drinks, friendly staff, clean store, efficient service. My favorite boba place on the street :) read more
New location in Sawtelle with small surface lot (parking time limited here) and garage in the lower level. Interiors beautiful with a nice aroma of tea as well as some small tables outside space right next to Alfred's. Went Saturday evening and there was only a small line (1-2 people before me) and you can either choose to order from the register or a touchscreen. Drink came out relatively quickly - I'd say within 5 minutes. Price is a bit steep though even for boba and price. I got the creamy lemon tart drink -- nice contrast between the cream top and the lemon tea. I usually have to adjust the sweetness for drinks but didn't this time and didn't think the sweetness was too overwhelming because of the nice balance from lemon tartness! Right off the bat I have to say the service here was incredible. The workers were very friendly and gave great descriptions of the tea choices and we were even given samples. I ordered the osmanthus oolong tea with milk and boba. I liked the drink, it was good, but it wasn't mind blowing. And after waiting in line 30 minutes, and paying a whopping $9.06 for the drink, I just wasn't as impressed as I hoped to be. Don't get me wrong, it was a good drink. But it wasn't $9 good. I did really like the boba here. Perfectly chewy with the right hint of sweetness! :) Overall I had a good experience here, and I recommend trying it at least once! read more

The lines can get very long but the staff works to keep things moving at a fairly quick pace! Originally from Taiwan started in 1998 and they use quality ingredients! Absolutely love that we have a location on the west side, quite dangerous as it's close by and I want it daily! The quality is incredible and they make each drink to order! When at the register they gave a sampler, which they rotate what they give out daily. Tried a sampler last time which was better than I had expected and so I'll be ordering that the next time I go. Overall lovely aesthetic space! They do have limited seating options inside. There's also limited underground parking and they also have street parking close by! read more

Seriously some of the best teas. Recently just opened on the west side and it's in a perfect area with plenty of eateries so you can either have a pre meal or dessert drink. Some of the popular choices that even won awards are: High mountain pouchong tea Ding dong oolong For this visit and that gave a sample and won me over is the green tea and mango, less sweet and with boba. The boba texture. Divine. Although I haven't been to many locations and I've only gone to the SGV location twice during covid but the staff here is so friendly. From walking in, sat the counter and even to the owner. It shows that they enjoy working there. Fun fact and probably a secret is they really use filtered water. That should have been a given but that is what probably what lets the tea flavor shine. Congratulations on the new location and great to me that I can enjoy great tea more often. read more
Sooo happy a high quality boba shop has opened in West LA. I've tried their other locations and they never fail me. Happy to say that the Sawtelle location delivered as well! The green milk tea with bubble is a must. They use cream instead of milk to give it a richer texture. I came when it opened on a weekday, but there were other people that came to. Ooo another tea shop in Sawtelle! I'm a zero sugar kind of gal, so I got the green tea with milk and it was fantastic. I usually get oat milk, but they don't do that here, so I got the regular milk that's somehow special so it's easier on the tummy. Cool with me. The tea was SO fragrant, tasted floral and earthy, and the milk did not upset the tummy, as advertised. Love this place. read more
Stopped by on a quick visit to Sawtelle, and everything about CHICHA San Chen impressed! I haven't been following the hype, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Service is friendly, and the place wasn't too busy when we went, but I could definitely see the line going out the door during busy Sawtelle weekend hours. The vibe is sleek and minimalist. We were able to try a sample of their pouchong tea with lemon juice before placing our order. That stuff is GOOD! I ended up getting the creamy lemon tart, which adds a dairy-free mousse to the pouchong + lemon juice. It was really hard to put down. It tasted almost like a creamsicle! We also got the creamy mango tart, which was really good, too. It's just really hard to outdo the lemon juice--I'd highly recommend it if you're unsure of what to get. Will be back to try more of the menu! read more
This place is not overrated!! if you're a fan of tea, it's a must visit. even if the line may seem daunting , the staff is extremely efficient and works very quickly :) I appreciate their hard work. Came here for soft opening with a friend and our experience was great! I ordered their award winning green tea with cream and bubble and it was good. I ordered mine with normal ice and perfect sweetness. The green tea flavor was good, but I do wish it was stronger and less watery. The same goes for the cream. The cream was nice and light though. The bubble/boba was nicely chewy and not too hard nor soft. It also wasn't soaked in sugar which I liked. Overall this was good, but I've had better elsewhere. My order was also $9 which was too expensive for a boba tea. The drinks came packaged cutely with their signature holder which was cute. The interior was neat and nicely decorated with Taiwanese elements. I liked how there was a tea tasting station. However, we didn't have time to participate since the tasting takes about 15 minutes and the restaurant only validates 30 minutes for parking (underground) and we did have to wait a bit for our order since the shop was relatively busy. They also have a free photo print station which was nice and cute. The service was also great and all of the staff I spoke with were nice and welcoming. Overall, a solid contender for boba in the area and worth checking out! read more

Checked out this new boba spot today. Their drink is very tasty but if you don't like too sweet be sure to adjust when you're ordering. I really love the boba flavor and texture were perfect! We waited about 15-20 minutes all in all, waiting in line and getting the drinks. They had some seating inside, but also outside there are shared seating with the other store fronts. My son enjoyed the little decor they had and took a little photo on their instant Photo Booth. read more
