At the risk of being burned for heresy, I have to say that Chicago's is probably my favorite Chicago-style deep dish pizza. They have a huge selection of toppings. I usually get fresh garlic, broccoli, and olives. When I told my nephew that I get broccoli on my pizza, his mind was totally blown. Broccoli on pizza=insanity to a 10 year old. Also, the Heart Salad is one of the best salads I have ever had. Spinach, seared mozzarella, corn, tomatoes, nuts, and a some sort of magical agave dressing. I accept that it takes an hour to have my pizza delivered, and that unlike other delivery services, it never, ever arrives early. I figure this is a trade off for them delivering pizza every day until FIVE AM. What I don't understand is the dine in experience. The restaurant is pretty nice, actually, but there's never anyone in there. And yet it takes FOREVER to get your food. No joke, it took 40 minutes for us to get our food last night. And they brought the salad out with the pizza, which makes absolutely no sense. It takes 90 seconds to make a salad. At least let us have that before we gnaw our arms off or wilt like delicate flowers. read more

I have to say Chicago's Pizza is very good. I have never had a problem with them, nor the delivery. In fact the owner lives by me, and always supplied the block party with pizza, very nice guy, great food, and the chicken soup is so good. The restaurant is clean. The food is always fast and hot. The employees are always polite. If you live around where they deliver, and you always order from them. Like I do. Around Christmas time, they surprised me with a coffee mug with their name in it, filled with candy. I thought that was pretty cool. read more

A staple of a pizza place is whether or not they can create the basics and how well they do it. Order a small, deep dish cheese and pepperoni. It is basic but excellent. The crust is crunchy but soft, the sauce has flavor, the cheese is thick and the pepperoni has spice. If you can do the basics well, you can do the rest better. read more

Chicago's Pizza is a hard-to-beat, local restaurant - especially if you live in the area. I find myself at least once a week walking by and grabbing two slices of pizza (I suggest the stuffed spinach), which rounds out to about $7.00 - and yes, you are full after just two...they are huge pieces...GREAT DEAL. Not to mention, great drunk food at 2 a.m., AND they deliver until 5 a.m.! You can also order online for delivery or pick-up. Their burgers and sandwiches are phenomenal, and meals can be ready in 20 minutes. At this point, I've gone there so often over the past year I'm amazed my body isn't 40% pizza dough. 4 stars for food - the thin crust is pretty good 5 stars for their ability to deliver almost on the dot of whatever time they quoted you and open ridiculous hours. Unlike other people on here, I've never had the occasional missing item...but i have had the occasional extra items. If I had reviewed this place a couple years ago, I would have given it 5 stars. Have been ordering from here for at least 8-9 years. BUT lately, they have been SERIOUSLY skimping on cheese on their pizza AND raising the prices. It got so bad, that I had to take pictures and complain to show them their lack of cheese. 4-5 inches of crust without cheese on some areas is unexceptable. Their "xlarge" pizza is more like a regular large at most places but you still pay a lot more than anywhere else. I had friends over one time, and knowing they put on not to much cheese, I ordered from here (only because I really wanted the stuffed pizza too, and it wasjust easier) and actually paid to have "extra cheese" put on. There was NOTHING different than a regular skimpy pizza and it ticked me off that I even paid extra to ensure good cheese, and there wasn't. They have out right forgotten items when ordering online and have had to forward them emails to prove I ordered and paid for other things. They continually raise their prices and skimp on ingredients. They have some decent pasta dishes, and some good wraps. My favorite is their vegetable stuffed pizza or spinach stuffed, although the crust is very salty and I wind up drinking gallons of water after eating it....it is worth it because I love the taste so much. If they would get their act together and stop skimping on everything and get a bigger diameter for an xlarge thin crust pizza to go with the inflated price, I'd be much happier. I have stopped ordering from here, just based on food quality....and not getting much for my money. Sorry, you used to be my all time favorite pizza place, but not any longer. My wife had a salad and I had a thin crust pepperoni pizza. We also ordered a cheesy garlic bread as an appetizer. I enjoyed the pizza. It reminded me a lot of Giordano's, although it was not quite as good. My wife thought the salad was decent, but neither one of us cared for the cheesy garlic bread. We definitely wouldn't order that again. The price was somewhat reasonable considering the type of pizza it was. I am a big fan of Chicago's stuffed pizza--I would even venture to say I like it better than the 800 pound gorilla that is Giordano's. The best thing is they deliver wayyyyy into the night, I want to say like 5am or something. Great for night owls and party people! Always fast, too. The sandwiches can be hit or miss, and I don't like their salads. Service when I actually ate in was not impressive. I went there yesterday with my sons. Son number one got stuffed sausage which was fresh with white melty cheese and looked good. Son #2 and I got stuffed spinach and instead of giving us slices from a fresh pizza, we got ones that were not very warm and the white cheese had yellowed from sitting around for so long. I'm writing this review based on their gluten free pizza. I was so surprised to find a true dedication to creating in-house gluten free dough and breads that actually taste good and are made in a separate oven with separate cookware. Very few pizza places allow for a lot of flexibility in the gluten free pizzas they offer. Most places they have a 10" thin crust; take it or leave it. Before knowing that I had celiac disease I really enjoyed going and getting a big pizza and sharing it with friends. Chicago's Pizza allows me to do this again. They offer their gluten free pizza's in all the same sizes as their regular pizza, and they offer it in all styles as well (thin crust, deep dish, stuffed). Their gluten free pizza is so good that my friends don't mind us just going in and ordering a large gluten free pizza to share.I usually get the thin crust, but I had the deep dish once and it really tasted like the real thing. I haven't tried their gluten-free sandwiches, but I'm interested to since they make it on homemade gluten-free focaccia bread. I wouldn't say Chicago's Pizza has the best pizza in Chicago, but I would say if you're dining with someone who needs to eat gluten-free it has to be one of the best options out there. Oh and they don't upcharge you a ridiculous amount to make the pizza gluten-free. I think it is something like between $2-$3 for gluten free crust depending on the size of the pizza (but when you're getting an 18" pizza and only having to pay three extra dollars, that's pretty good!). read more

Order small cheese pizza with cheese fries. Say it'll be here within an hour. Awesome. Delivery guy comes, I pay and tip him and proceed to eat my cheese fries appetizer. After sufficiently stuffing myself with the greasy cheesy gooiness, I proceed to open the top of my pizza box and without looking, stuff a piece in my face (it was a long week, okay?). Pepperoni. Pepper-oni. On the entire small pizza. Thank god I'm not a vegetarian. Otherwise, you would've heard profanities all throughout Chicagoland that specific Tuesday evening. (Okay, the "tough week" was really just a bump in the first few days.) Call back up the pizza place and explain situation. He says he'll make another pizza (cheese this time) and send it out. Should be here in about an hour. Awesome. 10 minutes later, my (correct) pizza arrives. I hand back the one-bit pepperoni and I'm back to gorging my evening away. A very pleasant surprise. My wife and I dined here one Friday night after attending the Grant Park Music Festival. We ordered our usual: chicken wings and cheese fries for apps and for the entree, a large stuffed cheese pizza (this place is supposed to be famous for their stuffed). We had no idea what to expect, especially given the less than stellar reviews. However, the food was very good! The wings were meaty while crisp on the outside and the Sweet Baby Ray's sauce they were covered in was tasty. The cheese fries were good, and the pizza was also. The pizza crust is crisp, buttery and on the flaky side. Everything was piping hot and fresh. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, they start you off with complimentary foccacia bread and this was the best foccacia I have had. It was pillowy soft and very fresh To top it off, our server, Lindsay(sp?), was one of the nicest/best servers we have had. The restaurant is very nice in general and we will be back to try their thin crust and other items on their expansive menu. read more

I love the food from here. It is so yummy! What I don't like is the lack of care that prevents them from getting a delivery order correct. Tonight, we ordered the grilled calamari, chicken soup with cheesy garlic bread, a greek salad, a vegi focaccia and a bowl of cream of broccoli soup with salad. We paid for the same and the delivery receipt showed the same. Some how we did not get the grilled calamari and cheesy garlic bread. when we called the driver, he said that he delivereded everything and that we should call the restaurant, so they never even packed it despite their own instructions printed on the receipt for the employee stating "READ ALL ORDERS CAREFULLY!!!" at the top, in all caps and with exclamations points. Then again at the bottom is a "PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK ALL ORDERS!!" Which tells me that this is most likely a chonic problem. A call back to the restaurant and I got an "You didn't get the calamari? Uhoh" and then a promise that we would get it , but that wasn't the end of it, a while we got a call back questioning us again. "What? you didn't get you calamari?" which told me that it probably wasn't bening grilled yet and we weren't getting it any time soon. We didn finally get it over 40 minutes later, and it was very very good, but this shouldn't be happening, our order should have been double checked as the receipt instructed and if it was, maybe we would have had the very first item on the receipt. read more

It was a cold and dark New Years Eve..... we were hungry ... we were lazy ... we wanted food brought to us .... they delivered. I had their deep dish supreme pizza, which I shared with mom. It was not bad, much like many other deep dish pizzas I have tried. After my initial taste of it, I added hot sauce, but I do that to almost all pizzas and for me it always enhances the experience. I got mom the minestrone soup, which was flavorful and made her happy. I also got her a small Greek salad. The only complaint was that some of the sun dried tomatoes were really tough and the olives had pits. I'm glad she was careful, as she did not need to break a tooth, especially on a holiday. Christopher had their spaghetti with meat sauce. It was ok, nothing special. I think most carry out / delivery places are very stingy on the meat sauce for spaghetti. I think it would have benefited by more sauce. Also they did not send any Parmesan cheese. Fortunately I had some, so that was ok. Oh yes, we also got an order of buffalo wings. They were mediocre and the blue cheese dressing was very thin and watery. I used my own dressing, which improved things greatly. All in all, it wasn't a bad experience and getting a free six pack of Diet Coke with our order made me a lot happier. If I ever get pizza cravings in the middle of the night, I would certainly order again, but otherwise, I will head to Pequods. read more

I ordered pick-up (mmm... 14" thin w jalapenos, black olives and cheddar cheese - even though cheddar is not on the menu! - and a liter of diet coke) last night and have since devoured the entire thing. The food was ready when I arrived and I was greeted by not one, but two friendly girls. Everything was good, but not great. I was a little sad that my pizza was square-cut instead of pie-cut, but now I know. I'll probably order from them again, but I'd be just as likely to order from somewhere else just to try something new. Oh yeah, heads up.. err, down. The place has decent pizza - nothing to write home about but you can stop here onto the wee hours of the night and get a slice (or 2) to take out and bring home and eat until you pass out. Been ordering from this location off and on for at least 5 years.. I'm not sure if management changed or what, but this last time was just a complete disappointment. The deep dish was soggy, and watered down.. the bottom of the crust was just deteriorating and the cheese/sausage all ran right of the pizza when I cut into it. The wife's shrimp dish was so-so, nothing to write home about. I think I'll stick with Tedinos / Giordanos from now on when I'm in the mood for deep dish. read more

This is hands down the best pizza in Chicago for GLUTEN Free fare. I regularly do take out and get the thin crust gluten free pizza and have never had issues with my allergies there. I've also tried the gluten free fettuccine Alfredo, cheesy garlic bread and loved them both. Ive also tried the deep dish gluten free pizza, and while it was good, Deep dish just isn't my thing. I used to love this place. A few years ago I lived closer than I do now and would walk in to pick-up my orders. Now that I've moved to Edgewater and use their delivery service I'm noticing CONSTANT incorrect orders showing up at my doorstep. Last night was the last straw, and I unfortunately have to say that I'm done with Chicago Pizza. Where to start?!? Their new online ordering system is completely unreliable. It took 3 tries for my order to go through. The web site took upwards of 5 minutes to transmit data each time, and each time returned a "error transmitting" message. I'd finally given up, and was about to order from another establishment had it not been for a nice young lady at this location calling me up to verify that I still wanted to proceed with the order (good save guys!!!). After the order was verified via phone, and delivered, I noticed it was wrong...again! This is the third time in a row I've ordered something at the Ravenswood location, and received something entirely different (in this instance, ordered the BBQ chicken tenders - which are yummy - and got Buffalo wings). Over the last couple of years I can clearly recall at least 5 incorrect orders, and as Joe D. below stated, it isn't a problem with the orders being taken wrong (receipts correctly show the items that I wanted). There's something going on in the kitchen at this location where the preparers either don't know what's on their menu, or can't read. To clarify, I really like (or I should say "liked") the food at Chicago Pizza. The people are also pretty nice at this location. However, if you can't be relied on to get me the food I actually ordered I see that as a major problem. And one that necessitates me taking my business elsewhere. read more

Great for late night. I can't personally recommend the pizza, but the turkey sandwiches are great. The burgers much like fast food burgers, the appetizers have gone uneaten and the salads (which I would LOVE to order) have consistently had dirt in them, so I've stopped; however, the pastas are good, the gourmet garlic pizza (with mozz garlic olive oil basil and no sauce) is good. I remember their pastas being enormous (enough for 4, in my book) but last time we ordered was not quite as huge. (Understandable, better to cut quantity than raise price, if you ask me). I do recommend the sandwiches, I order a LOT and they're consistently good. On great bread. Also, the soup chicken noodle soup is a bargain and has veg that is still slightly crunchy for three bucks. Side note: They've begun offering sandwich-only options, cutting down the prices if you don't want the chips/salad. Huge plus for me since I generally get a bowl of soup from the regular menu and turn it into a dinner for two the following night - with half a sandwich cut into appetizer portions. In short, great for late night and sandwiches/soup, but would never be my go-to pizza* place. *Apart Pizza for eat-in thin crust, Gino's East for thick crust, Ian's or Santullo's for NY-ish crust, and obviously Giordano's for stuffed. Chicago's is a great place for delivery, carry-out, or a quick late-night slice, but it's also worth visiting their dining room for cheap beer and wine and great lunch specials. When I saw the 6-page menu, I did not have high hopes for their food (WAY too many options), but everything I've tried has been tasty and made fresh with quality ingredients. Their stuffed pizza is delicious and so is the thin crust. They have a small but good selection of draught beer is $4 for a pint ($3 on Mondays!). The dining room isn't fancy, but it's a nice place for families or to go with friends for good, reasonably-priced food and drinks and good service. read more

There are limited options for late night pizza by the slice around here so we tried this place after catching a show at the Riviera Theater Friday night. The place is open until 3am according to the store sign, but will take orders until 5am according to the pizza box. Hubby had a slice of the sausage and I had a slice of the pepperoni. It tasted like the frozen pizza I used to eat in elementary school, with the exception that it was not square. There were a few bar stools to eat within the carry-out area. The water dispenser was pretty much out. Does the job of satisfying the hunger pains after a night out, which usually makes the quality of the food forgiveable, if not forgettable. read more

Well, they do allow dogs on their outdoor patio. That's a plus. OK, so we went on a Saturday for lunch. It wasn't crowded and the service was pretty good. We ordered a medium thin crust pizza half cheese, half sausage. It came out in a reasonable amount of time. I liked the cheese and sausage ok but the crust was not too great. It was only slightly better than a frozen pizza crust. If we went back I probably wouldn't order it again but I'd try their deep dish or sandwiches.... We ordered here for the first time. We ordered a bacon, Italian sausage and roast beef pizza, cheese fries and cheese sticks. The delivery came within under an hour so that was nice. The pizza itself is okay. I didn't really care for the taste of the sausage or the beef. I didn't really notice the taste of the bacon. The sauce was a little thin and the spices just didn't taste right. The dough was mediocre but it was really cheesy. The cheese fries were okay, nothing good or bad to say about them. The cheese sticks are the same as anywhere else but the sauce was weak again. I'll probably only order here if it's late otherwise i'll go somewhere better and cheaper. read more
