I tried to reason with them and ask them if I could speak with Ali but they said no, and another stylist came up to me and was extremely rude telling me to leave and that they would not cut my hair. The vibe of the store looked cool and I'm sure I would have enjoyed getting a haircut at this location, but I was treated disrespectfully in a way that no customer should experience.

He showed her 3 inspiration photos for cuts. He specifically stated we wanted a trim around the temples and shaping and an evening of his bangs. We were new customers and booked a kids haircut thinking that's for kids a not a style of cut. Diana proceeded to cut inches off of his hair he'd spent months growing. She did layer it on the sides, but cut it in a mushroom cut. But most egregious is she finished by brushing all of his curls out. She clearly knew it looked crazy because she asked about whether she should make it shorter (already much too short). His father could tell she had no idea what she was doing so declined further "fixes." Since we had a day out planned. After leaving, given how terrible he looked they went back to the salon to ask for a fix. At least wet his hair. She finally re-wet his hair leaving his curls insanely short - particularly the bangs. He asked her to bring it up on the temples to fix the bizarre mushroom shape, and she refused saying she didn't understand and it's a "kids cut" and that's not what they do for a "kids cut." We were not told there was a standard haircut provided to all kids. She also stated they don't style kids hair for the cut. So they let curly hair kids leave looking like brushed out frizzballs?When he got upset about the whole experience- they made it clear in front of our son that his expectations were too high and they wouldn't be fixing anything. Please please avoid this place with your children - or your curly hair. What a terrible terrible experience! If you can't do a hair cut, just admit it. Don't destroy a kids hair before the holidays and holiday photos. ..... Update - regarding the haircut - we received the following message about the cut and blow dry: "At the beginning of the appointment, your son's father showed the stylist inspiration photos for your son's hair. The photos that were shown were long curly cuts, and it was explained to the stylist that when your son's hair grows out, he does not want it to be big on the sides of his head. With every child/teen appointment, all of our stylists first talk to the parent at the consultation and at the start of cutting. The stylist was following the instructions she was given by your son's father. Once she started cutting, she asked your son's father to come over and check if the first cut was OK. He said yes, and she proceeded to give your son a trim and was taking her time during the appointment. She noticed that the sides were previously cut unevenly, so she made sure to even them out while she was shaping his hair. After she trimmed and shaped his hair, she dried his hair, as it was very cold outside. In the video recording of the appointment, there was not much hair on the floor. She just did a trim and did not cut inches off of his hair." So yes, they were provided the inspiration photos. Yes their stylist asked him to "check on the cut" only after she had already cut significantly more than was requested. At that point, there was nothing meaningful he could do. Yes, she did blow dry his hair into this state, and they are defending it as appropriate for how you blow dry curly hair. "Your son's father and your son were satisfied at the end of the appointment and gave the stylist a generous tip. Your son was not upset when he left." They claim because we left a large tip ($10) that we were please. No, we just believe in compensating people for their time - even if we dislike their services. Monetary penalization is not something we support. All we wanted was an apology or acknowledgement that how our son was sent into the world by the salon was not appropriate. That there was a communication breakdown of what the stylist could provide. That there was any sort of acknowledgment that the cut received was different than the intended and requested.

I got my hair done by Naho, who was an absolute gem and so sweet. She was great at listening to what I liked and didn't like after the trial appointment and made adjustments. I really liked the hairstyle she gave me, and the half up style she did held up until the last couple hours of the night. The whole team was efficient and friendly, and the salon environment is beautiful (and Momo the dog is perfect!). The only complaint I have was the curls, and to be fair I have pretty smooth, Asian hair that already doesn't want to hold a curl. But I did have a bridesmaid whose hair usually holds a curl, and we both had to redo them at the venue with a wand instead of an iron, so that they held better. Also, while I think the hairstyle looked great from the front, it did look a little bit odd from the side because of the volume of the half up look. It was straight by the end of the night, but with the dancing that may have happened anyway. The one bridesmaid who requested an updo instead of a half up look had the best time--it held all night and was absolutely gorgeous.

I pretty much gave her free rein on the makeup and the end result was great - not too much and not too little. Naho is very sweet. She asks you a lot of questions and I feel like she genuinely cares about you. She also brings her cute dog, Momo, to the salon. I decided to get a haircut and re-highlight my hair a few weeks before my wedding and I booked it on Easter Sunday since that was the only day before the wedding that Naho was available. Once again, my hair turned out great. Just a subtle change but a much needed one since I hadn't gotten a haircut in more than 6 months. My wedding morning was a little crazy and I got to the salon 15 mins late for my appointment, but they were very nice about it. Naho took her time with my hair and makeup and it shows. I never felt so beautiful! The other stylists worked on the members of the bridal party and they looked beautiful as well. The treatment was completely ineffective and the appointment felt rushed, unlike past visits where she was more thorough. When I followed up, Lynsey offered to redo the service and booked me for another appointment. She mentioned that working around my extensions might have affected the result -- which, honestly, any experienced stylist should be able to handle. Then, two months after the original service, she let me know she'd only be redoing half my hair -- unless I wanted to pay full price again. It felt like a bait and switch: unprofessional, disappointing, and deeply frustrating. Her response was a non-apology followed by an oddly cheerful sendoff. I've never had a stylist throw away a long-standing relationship over something like this -- especially when it stemmed from their own mistake. This experience made it clear that Lynsey doesn't stand by her work and doesn't value her clients. I expected better.

Just two blocks away. The salon is very tiny but didn't seem cramped. I got there 10 minutes early, but I didn't have to wait more than that before Ashley brought me to her chair. She's so nice, sweet, and welcoming. Got right down to the consultation. I told her I wanted a good chunk of length gone, and she immediately cut a few inches. Went into the color after that and then the cut and beautiful styling. The dye process took no more than 30 minutes. I picked a violet color, and it came out so beautiful. Throughout the whole process, she kept the conversation flowing without any awkward long silences. Offered water, coffee, and tea. It was just a chill experience overall. Let's face it. Getting your hair cut and styled anywhere in NYC is not cheap! Although this salon does have prices on the cheaper side, even though it costs almost twice as much as I usually spend. I'm okay with it, though, because when something is good, I'm willing to shell out the bucks for it. I had a all over color for $145, and the cut was $75. If you use a card, they charge you a 3% processing fee, so bring cash if you don't want any added expenses. Something I really like about this salon is that they don't try to sell you on products. They also don't try and bilk you with tons of services or more appointments than needed. I appreciate that. I definitely will be back!
