If you're human and life sometimes throws you curves....RUN DON'T WALK from this salon. I was a regular client, NEVER late, to the contrary, always early waiting for my stylist. My husband made an appointment for me on a Friday evening to see Ray the next afternoon at 4:20 pm. Late Friday night an urgent personal situation came up and I had to go out of town. I called the salon at 10 am on Saturday morning at 10 am as soon as they opened and shared my situation for needing to cancel. At the end of the day Saturday I receive a text that says we were unable to fill your appointment time and will therefore be charging you for your missed appointment. WHAT? I have never missed an appointment and called to cancel. I was told that was their policy. I shared that not only would I not be returning, but neither would my husband. Two regular clients lost. They could have cared less. So much for customer service and helping out a regular client. Sad. read more

I was a regular customer at the Park Slope location since they opened. I got some very good haircuts from Matthew! That's why I kept coming back. On the other hand, Benoit once cut my ear so that I ruined my shirt because of all the blood. (No apology, no discount, nothing...) And I got one of the worst haircuts in my life by some dude who was speedily -- and rightfully! -- let go by my next visit. I kept coming back because it was convenient and because Matthew was skilful. But then I -- a loyal customer, as demonstrated by the fact maintained my loyalty in the face of wounding and indignities -- had to cancel an appointment 9 hours before it was it was set to begin. I was shown no flexibility, no reciprocal loyalty, not a hint of understanding. And so I must share my true feelings about LET Park Slope: Matthew is good, Benoit is a butcher, they hire randos, and they have a radically inflexible cancellation policy. read more

Worth ever penny. Great staff! Masako is masterful with clippers. She took care of transforming what was two years unkempt madness to wedding ready without compromising my personal style and character. But it's her precision and focus that sets her apart from barbers I've had in the past. For gents facing sticker shock, only you know how much you can afford. I remember times I've spent 20 bucks on a tight fade, but if you have an import event, date, interview and really want to make people think you have your shit together - please give Masako a chance and I bet soon enough you'll be in a position this price point won't give you sticker shock or like me, see the value in how a haircut can make you feel. I've been here twice now and had my hair cut by the owner, Benoit. Vibe is small barber shop but execution is like a high end salon, so relative to what you get for the price it's very reasonable for NYC. To put a finer point on it, - After my hair was cut, Benoit gave me a shampoo - After drying, a bunch of minor adjustments were made - After styling, some super fine adjustments were made The day of both cuts I got compliments from several of my roommates (was living in 2 different shared houses, respectively). Really great job. I'm pretty picky about my hair, usually when getting a new stylist I go through 3-5 before settling on someone I'm happy with. As long as I'm in the NY area I'll be going here for the for-seeable future. read more

Booked a next day appointment. I was hesitant because the cut side of the place is modeled after a barbershop and feels less feminine focused, but Ray did an absolutely perfect job. I showed him a picture and he was easily able to create the look I wanted, but also adjust it a bit to fit me. Dana, Is wonderful and has don't my color in the past and as always, she did not disappoint! She did an amazing job on my balayage. It looks sun-kissed and natural. I was so excited to finally get a haircut after quarantine. I booked with Matthew and the whole process was efficient and sanitary. They have sanitizer at the counter when you come in. The hairstylists wear masks, face shields and gloves. When I left, Matthew even insisted on getting the door for me so I wouldn't have to touch anything. I do not recommend it, especially for long, straight hair - where mistakes are easily visible. The line of my hair is not even, and each side bends at a different angle. I need to book a second appointment in a different place to have it fixed. I didn't ask to have it fixed on the spot cause I was afraid it will look even worse. Great library of books to read while you wait, which is rare; they are pretty on-time. Only booking works well. They are skilled and offer great style advice too. Old-school vibe while feeling like a fully modern experience at the same time. Popped in there on a sunny Sunday afternoon in late-October (thanks global warming) with my two active 5-year-old twin boys. Luckily came in during a lull, as they were able to take all three of us in succession (though I'll schedule appointments on their website in the future, as recommended by their proprietor Matthew). Not sure I've ever had a haircut that was anything but a means to an end. This was an experience: great funk/disco tunes, cool retro chairs and equipment, great artwork on the walls. And the haircuts were great. Definitely expect to spend more than the spiral pole barber down the street (their prices are clearly posted on the entry-way), but you're paying for the experience, the haircut (which far exceeds that of the spiral pole comp in my opinion), and the opportunity to support a true local business-owner. Benoit cut my 4.5 year old daughter's long hair into the cutest bob today -- he was fun and patient, and she was delighted by him. The cut was with a pair of electric clippers, so it was quick and easy, and ended up as a perfect, straight line, which seems like some kind of miracle considering she won't stay still for a single hair brushing at home. I have had generally awful experiences at hair salons and stylists - because they either complete ignore my thoughts, go rogue on my tresses, or just don't shut up. I also learned that paying more doesn't necessarily mean a better cut or experience. SO, I was very pleasantly surprised to hear this spot opened up in my old Boerum Hill hood since I visit often and am always on the prowl for a fresh cut. This spot is legit - professional, clean, comfortable, they offer drinks AND they were playing 80s and new wave (duran Duran, prince, george michael - yes!) which is a great change of pace. I can actually enjoy the hour that is my haircut instead of 1. listen to shit music or 2. engage is tedious superficial chit chat. The owners Matt and Benoit were both working and doing their thing cutting hair, which I liked seeing. I'm a serial entrepreneur having owned a biz years ago in the hood and authentic engagement in your biz and clientele warms my heart. My stylist, Alexandra was attentive, edgy (no mom cuts here!), kind, polished and gave me exactly what I asked for while managing my expectations. I wanted a shape up on my usual angled lob with lots of crazy layers. I'm in the pool and beach a lot so my ends are burnt and bleached from the sun. Alexandra convinced me I should let go of another inch and get my hair healthy. Happy I did. Fresh cut, check. And it's even full of life again. Oh - and the convo/atmosphere was fun, lively, interesting and I will definitely be back to get my hair did next time. Easily one of the best stylists I've gone to in NYC. read more

The space was cozy and chill, the guy behind the desk from Maine was super friendly and fun, my stylist Valeriia was genuinely cool and interesting to talk with and she gave me exactly what I was hoping for in my cut. I got the worst haircut in my life from Benoit. I told him I usually wear my hair up, or in a high ponytail and that I hate layers. He told me if I wanted something fresh, he recommended it shorter with some layers. I agreed to this but what I got was SO short, ALL layers, and a matronly haircut that makes me look ten years older, and looks stupid in a pony tail. I'm all for giving latitude but I look terrible. I called the salon to speak with him directly as I didn't want to leave a negative review, and he all but laughed at me. A horrible experience that I would not wish on anyone. I've had a great haircut with Matt before so it's unfortunate that Benoit has left a sour taste in my mouth for the salon. read more
