As somebody who limits how often I eat out, let me tell you there's nothing worse than wasting it on a mediocre meal. But in a wave of fried chicken offerings in the City Beautiful, Chi-Kin stands on another level. The Korean inspired flavors go perfectly with everything. My go-to is the Chicken Sammie with Gochujang sauce mixed in ($6), the kimchi fried rice ($4) and the bulgogi beef waffle fries ($6.50). All this goes for under $20 and is plenty to share between 2 people. Parking is a little tricky but that's true of anything on Mills. When I've gone I usually score a street spot in front or on a side street. It's counter service usually turns it out quick but for a quick order ahead online. Now they open directly into a Matcha ice cream shop next door. If you're like me, after some spicy goodness you're feeling something sweet, this is a perfect pairing, thank me later. read more

I really wanted to like Chi-kin especially since it's highly loved on the reviews. Unfortunately I wasn't too impressed with the chicken. I ended up visiting during the lunch special hours so I tried out the lunch special for their fried chicken. The chicken tasted pretty average, especially the batter wasn't really the same style as what I'm used to for Korean fried chicken. The sauce was alright and didn't seem like the classic Korean fried chicken flavours. I will say the service was pretty quick and staff was friendly. I came here during lunch for the first time. I ordered the gochujang bone in wings with the kimchi fries. I'm dying to go back! The wings were outstanding as were the kimchi fries. My least favorite part is the parking because I hate parallel parking, especially on busy roads, but it's definitely worth the trip. Growing up in california, I am a huge fan of Korean fried chicken. I have been looking for a place in Florida & this is it!! You order up at the counter & they bring the food to you. Then when you're finished, you just place the baskets in the designated spot. Also love how they have an open sink in the dining area to wash your hands after eating! We were exhausted. We were at that point of hunger where you don't have any idea what you want. We had been helping family all day. We were stupid hungry. We were driving South on Mills and going "no" "no" "not tonight" "no" "takes too long" "not feeling it" "no" as we were passing each option. My wife says "We've never tried that Chi-Kin place we keep saying we're going to try." I made a u-turn and slid miraculously (parking on Mills SUCKS) right in front of the place. We ordered a chicken sandwich, some wings, some waffle fries, and some pickled cucumbers. We got the wings buffalo garlic, but we got 2 more sides to try: the Thai chili and the spicy honey. The lesson learned? The chicken sandwich without sauce is super dry. Thankfully we had spare sauce and it was delicious. The chicken sandwich with sauce was great. The waffle fries were good, but not great. The wings were super tasty! My wife loved the pickled cucumbers and I didn't even get to try them. The ordering at the multiple kiosks up front was great. We sat down (we were taking it home) and it was out in a jiffy! Finally made it to Chi-Kin in the Mills 50 district. I absolutely love Korean cuisine and Korean chicken wings to be exact, so I was pretty excited to finally have made it here to taste them. The chicken wings are super fresh and delicious, lots of great spice and they came out super hot! I will say I was kinda sad to see online this basket with a side but when we arrived the side was 7$ extra which was kinda a bust. We ordered the wings alone and got the side white rice for 3$ I would have liked to see the basket be a meal for one price then it be 14$ + 7$ for drink and side. I will say that the ambience did lack for me, you could tell that this wasn't a "new " restaurant and that it has been around for awhile with a creaky door when you entered, not to mention the poor lighting, (we sat near the window) so it wouldn't feel like we were eating in a dungeon lol, we also didn't really enjoy seeing a sink just in the middle of their dining room or their open storage room with piled high boxes. I definitely think that with the food being so delicious the restaurant it's self need some TLC. When you walked in they had most of the employees here working and cooking food, so I guess if your a introvert and don't like talking to people you'll enjoy their self order station, honestly i probably would have rather spoke to a employee to get a better feel for the vibe and service. I was in the mood for some hot chicken, and since the other hot chicken place was closed (it was Monday), I decided to try Chi-Kin on Mills. Parking was easy as it was like 11:30a on a Monday, and I arrived at the perfect time as a pretty large party showed up after I ordered. The sauces I had were flavorful, but I was disappointed with the freshness of the chicken tenders. Everything came out rather quickly and nothing was hot and fresh. It wasn't cold, but you could tell it wasn't made fresh. Maybe they get so busy they cook a bunch of food. The tenders were big so 3 was plenty, but it didn't have the crispy crunch that I've had at other chicken places. At 11:30am, I'm wondering how far in advance they cook their food. I wanted that crunch that's synonymous with Korean Fried Chicken! And that huge party that came after me, their food was being carried to their table very quickly after ordering. It's something you'd expect from McDonalds, but not a place that probably got big because of their crispy crunchy chicken. The Gochujang sauce was good but not spicy on it's own, but the Hot Gochujang was awesome and it delivered on heat and flavor. I'm glad I asked for a side of it as I may not have been able to eat all the chicken with that sauce. It was nice to dip and portion appropriately. There are a number of options and most people can probably find a sauce that suits them. The waffle fries suffered from the same level of freshness. I'm sure they'd be great right out of the fryer, but they were a bit stale on my visit. Bummer! Nothing like fresh, crispy fries. They DO have Vegan options, but nothing in the fried chicken category. I had a vegan "chicken" taco with kimchi and it was good. If they had some sort of vegan "chicken" tender with a choice of sauce, they'd be a clear winner for vegan options in Orlando (as long as it was freshly fried). Ate at Chi-Kin for an early dinner. We were seated right away and our server was really attentive. I wish she had explained a bit more about the menu, but overall we were very pleased with how quick everything came out. The beef bulgogi was our favorite dinner item, but the beef was honestly a bit tough. We liked the gochugang sauce on the wings a lot but really didn't like the lemon pepper dry rub. The Thai chili sauce was okay and we liked the ChiKin sauce well enough. The corn was definitely reheated, it was definitely not fresh. Next time I would try rice instead of corn. This used to be our go to place for fried chicken, but we were surprised to see on our most recent visit that instead of ordering on the kiosks they have now turned the same fast casual experience into a sit down order off a menu and wait to be served deal. It is exactly the same concept as before.. same menu, same styrofoam/paper plates, same self serve soda fountain, same throw away your own trash at the end but now you wait for a server to take your order and then wait for your bill. The atmosphere is not of a sit down restaurant but they are trying to pass as one. I loved so much the kiosk concept because it allowed me to take my time and read the description of the menu items/sauces and you paid before getting your food that way when you were done you could leave immediately. I feel that their new concept is a way to encourage tipping for exactly the same service as before but with the added inconvenience of waiting for the bill. The food however, was just as good as before and the server was kind and patient with us. For the future I will consider coming back as a to-go option only since I can't justify the added cost of leaving a 20% tip when it's clear the place is not a real sit down restaurant. read more

My family wanted me to take them to a local spot that I adore for lunch, so I picked Chi-Kin and it did not disappoint! They had an incredible combo of 4 tenders, 8 wings, and 2 sides. It was great sampler for everyone try what they had to offer. We added a side of their bulgogi beef fries along with 4 fountain drinks. Can you believe that came out to just of $35 dollars for all of that?! You cannot beat a deal like that when feeding a family of four adults for a meal out. I've been to Chi-Kin a couple of times and the fact that I've returned should indicate that this place is pretty darn tasty. For the records I do NOT like chicken BUT if it's really, really good I'll partake. Every time I've gone the chicken has been cooked consistently. I wish it were a little more tender but it isn't dry. I like the chicken tenders (I detest wings) but since my boyfriend likes wings we went for Combo 1 which came with 8 wings, 4 tenders and 2 sides of your choice. You can choose 2 each sauces for the wings and tenders. We decided on the sweet gojuchang (a Korean spicy red pepper sauce) and sweet chili sauce for the tenders and the Yuzu lemon pepper and sweet soy sauce for the wings. I didn't really eat the wings and stuck tk the tenders. Between the two sauces I chose I liked the sweet gojuchang sauce more. It was only mildly spicy to me but if you really don't like heat then I wouldn't get it. We decided on the bulgogi (Korean sweet marinated beef) fries and white rice as our sides (Asians need rice with their meat lolz). Both were good. Note that getting bulgogi on our fries equated to a 2 dollar up charge. My boyfriend thought the fries weren't anything special but the sauce and beef on it made them better and more interesting. The meal was just right for the two of us and we couldn't even finish all our food. Seating in this place is ample and good for larger parties of 4-6 people. I It was early afternoon when we went and there were plenty of seats available. This is a casual dining establishment. If you wanted to dress up you might look a little out of place but you could swing it if you're brave. Lots of other people have already endorsed this so it's already well established and would be a great place to try if you're a chicken/American Korean food lover! Order the bulgogi chicken bowl, buffalo chicken sandwich with a side of bulgogi beef fries. Also added sides of spicy mayo and the hot gochujang sauce. Normally I am not once for chicken sandwiches but theirs is pretty damn good and huge. The fries were different (in a good way) and fresh and crispy. I loved my bulgogi chicken bowl. Chi-Kin is not playing around. And the ones I have tried (Sweet Soy, Spicy Honey, Yuzu Lemon Pepper, Buffalo Garlic) were all outstanding; full of flavors. I typically peel the chicken skin off when I eat my chicken wings, for health reasons and to prevent my hips from further expanding. Well, not at this place. I ate those wings like there was no tomorrow, as if I was ready to meet God that same day. I showed no mercy on them wangs. And oh, I love what they have done to their fries. We stopped in to have lunch here to celebrate my birthday. It was a Tuesday afternoon so it wasn't crowded and I was pleased to see there was plenty of room to social distance, staff and patrons wear masks, and everything was nice and clean (during COVID-19.) I chose to try the Chi-kin Sammie with waffle fries and my boyfriend got chicken tenders with spicy honey sauce. We also got a side of Mac and cheese and a side of cheese corn. The sandwich is big with two large chicken tenders, spicy aioli, and pickles. The chicken was crispy on the outside and nice and juicy on the inside. I loved the spicy aioli and would ask for extra next time since they went kind of light on it, but it gave me the opportunity to try the pure chicken which is delicious. I tried my boyfriend's tenders and enjoyed the spicy honey sauce on those. The waffle fries were hot and crispy and we also loved the cheese corn. The mac and cheese was more on the average side for me, but still pretty tasty. I'd likely opt for a different side next time. I ended up with leftovers to take home which I look forward to enjoying! What sets this Korean fried chicken (KFC, no not that KFC) restaurant apart is the selection of sauces. Most KFC places only have one, maybe two sauce flavors. Chi-Kin has six! We loved the Spicy Honey and Sweet Soy, and are excited to try the others. Keep in mind that these are NOT jumbo wings by any means, but the execution more than makes up for it! We came in around 2pm on a Sunday (Valentine's day) and it was moderately busy. Parking was easy and there were a fair amount of open tables. You start out by ordering at the counter, are given a number and food is brought out to you. There's also a hand washing station towards the back. We ordered the Buffalo garlic and sweet soy wing lunches, bulgogi fries and cheese corn. The cheese corn was good, but it's liquid cheese rather than melted real cheese... Just something to note. The sweet soy wings were delicious and rival bonchon, and my husband loved his Buffalo garlic wings. They both were perfectly saucy but still crunchy as you would expect from Korean fried chicken. The bulgogi fries were also good. A little on the salty side, so some added chopped kimchi would have been nice, but that's just my personal preference. I do want to note that you are able to upgrade your lunch fries to bulgogi fries. This was our fault for not realizing/reading the menu better, but we ended up with 3 orders of fries with our meal. You can also opt for rice instead of fries too. It would have been nice for the cashier to make the suggestion, but ultimately it's our fault because it is listed on the menu. I was hesitant to try this! I'm a big fan of domu chibi and their bowls and was hoping this would be similar enough to hit the spot since domu chibi is far from me. I'm blown away! It's definitely a bit different as this is Korean style vs Japanese style(?) but so so yummy! Everything was so flavorful but still fresh tasting and easy on the tummy (if that makes sense). My husband got the tenders to try and we were shocked by how many it came with. Definitely enough to be it's own meal. Actually the fries were enough to be their own meal too. I LOVED the beef fries. This style of chicken, Korean fried chicken, is super crispy and crunchy, there's a thin layer of batter that packs a huge flavor. The meat was juicy as well. I got wings, tenders, rice and kimchi. The sides were a little small, and the kimchi was a little bland but overall the meal was yummy. I will definitely stop back in when I am nearby. The chicken sandwich segment is a tough one to break in, so what makes Chi-Kin a different place than the one offering a combo (sandwich/side/drink) for less money? Well, I think that besides portion and better product, it comes down to add-ons, desserts and sides. Having the possibility to try different sauces is one thing that makes them different, as well as the option to have kimchi with your sandwich. Also, Chi-Kin offers desserts, maybe just as a filler on the menu, but a pretty tasty item on the menu. This is an unpretentious place that offers possibilities to their customers. And I like that. I came in and got a chicken sandwich, original, no sauce, a side of fries, a side of kimchi, and the fried dough with condensed milk. And I ate it all. I was really hungry, skipped lunch or something, just to be able to have the full experience. The sandwich is cooked perfectly, although I do not recommend a sauce-less/original sandwich because it is too dry. If you are not sure about a sauce, get it on the side. On the other hand, two chicken breasts pack this sandwich, so I would call this sandwich shareable. Fries are straightforward, kimchi is made in house and it is not deadly spicy as I was expecting or hoping, but it is still good (*there are other Korean restos with amazing kimchi). And the fried dough is really good, that alone brings me back. Thai Chili Korean Fried Chicken Wings Taste: (9/10) The Thai Chili is a wonderful sauce for these wings. The chicken wasn't dry, wasn't over seasoned, and was perfectly cooked. I popped in on a weekend for lunch with my husband. We both are on a chicken wing kick, so we're taking an opportunity to try out a place with wings on the menu. While they do have lunch specials, we decided to take advantage of one of their combo meals - if you're going with another person or a couple of people, you may want to consider doing this because you get a lot food and it doesn't end up being too expensive. In our combo we got eight wings (which we could choose two sauces), four tenders (also could choose two sauces), and two sides. For the wings we went with the sweet soy which was nice and the hot gochujang which was spicy, but not crazy. For the tenders, we went with the Buffalo Garlic which had a nice spice to it and the Yuzu Lemon Pepper dry rub. The wings and tenders had a nice crispy crunch to them when you bite in. For the sides, we went with the bulgogi beef waffle fries and the mac and cheese. The waffle fries were AH-mazing! I could seriously eat that on its own as a meal! I would highly recommend the fries! The mac and cheese was probably my least favorite part of the meal, but it had a lot of big hitters to contend with. I visited during COVID times and dined in. I felt very safe throughout my visit. The staff were wearing masks as were customers who weren't eating. I also really liked that there was a handwashing station in the dining room. I'm not sure if that was part of the original decor plan, but it was really nice to be able to wash my hands before my meal and then again afterward because of all of the saucy goodness from the wings. read more

I recently got Togo from my of my favorite chicken spots in Orlando! Chi-Kin is an Asian fusion blend with some of the BEST chicken sandwiches I have ever had for a reasonable price. Their waffle fries are also exceptional. Highly recommend to get the sweet soy sauce with the chicken if you aren't big into spice. The service is almost always quick and the restaurant has a nice ambiance, perfect for a laid back meal. Will definitely be back again soon! read more

I've heard of this place as it's been recommended by many people. We tried to do an online order, but their system was not working so we went in person to order. There was a lot of open spots outside and the inside is very big with lots of seating. It was reasonably priced for everything being around $30 with tip. We ordered and got our food is 5 minutes, very fast! For the food: The vegan option was not very good. They couldn't mix any sauce in it, so it was interesting. I was expecting vegan tenders or a vegan filet but it was like chopped meat, if you zoom into the photo you can kind of see where some fell out. It sort of looked like ground beef and had a interesting texture. The fries were really good, but I probably wouldn't return for the vegan options. My boyfriend enjoyed the non-vegan options a lot especially the beef fries! He said the chicken was a little over cooked and dry, but really enjoyed the fries.
