I kept hearing a coworker hype up That Wing Spot, so I finally gave it a try and it absolutely lived up to it -- so good! We went in to order since I had a few questions, and the staff couldn't have been nicer, even with how busy it was. There's no indoor seating, but there are a few tables outside if you want to hang out while you wait or eat there. (We ordered then walked over to Runabout Brewing for a beer while we waited) We went all in with the family deal: 50 wings, 2 fries, and 4 drinks. The wings were big, crispy, and cooked just right. We tried a mix of flavors: KB's Secret Rub (dry rub), That Honey Garlic, That Lemon Pepper, KB's Sweet Heat, and That Fiery Garlic Parm. The standout favorite for our group was That Honey Garlic, while the Lemon Pepper didn't quite hit the same for our group. The other three flavors were also very delicious! The fries were just as tasty.. crinkle cut and crispy. We got both the plain and the "secret rub" fries, and honestly, no complaints on either (the secret rub has a slightly sweet, BBQ-style flavor). The homemade dipping sauces were a nice bonus too. The ranch leans heavy on dill (in a good way) and the blue cheese has the perfect tang. Overall, I'm a big fan. I didn't catch her name, but there was a very nice, welcoming employee that explained everything perfectly to my family and me. I thought the combos were a decent deal. The wings themselves were a little large for my liking, and I wish they were fried a bit crispier. I got the lemon pepper hot flavor, but lemon pepper was a little muted. And while it had some spice, I wouldn't say it was hot like many other hot flavors I get. The wings were loaded with sauce though. The secret fries were good, but again also not crispy like I expected them to be. The secret seasoning tastes just like a smoky bbq seasoning my family uses. The last 5 or 6 people on earth who like eating flavored breading instead of meat, please lock the door and turn the lights out on those places. This place does modern wings correctly. Everything was well cooked. The sauces we had were reasonably good. I think they could use a bit more oomph. If you're talking about them being hot, they should pack some heat. They were well sauced though. The less great things were minor... the fries were limp (we did have a 10 minute trip home... but still) and generic. The homemade blue cheese was extra nondescript. There is no seating inside but there are a few tables and chairs outside . We ordered : that Smokey rub, that garlic Parmesan and that hot lemon pepper and a plain for the little. The wings sauce was both sweet and tangy and packed with so much flavor. I liked the wings were covered in the sauce. The blue cheese was great and paired well with the wings and also made in house. I like the set up. Overall you order at the kiosk and then your wings are ready in a couple of minutes. The servers are really nice and I think the owner came up to me and asked me for assistance. I got the 'that secret dry rub' and it's a mix of seasonings that gave sweet, smoky, a little tangy, and maybe even some garlic/lemon pepper but it's a secret so I'm going off of taste lol. Everything we had tasted fresh. I got the garlic parm wings and my husband got the honey bbq. The wings were pretty good and juicy. We also got the special seasoned fries. The best way I can describe them is eating a bag of lays bbq chips but in crinkle fry form. We really liked those! Very small carryout wing spot next to several other popular restaurants in the Fort Gatlin Plaza. You do have to use Uber or postmates to order online. Garlic Parm Wings- wing sauce was not great, I would much prefer all shredded parm as opposed to the heavy powder that was in this mix. The wings themselves varied in size from small to medium. They weren't great, very wet, and soggy from the way they package it. Lemon Pepper Wings- This lemon pepper sauce was fantastic! The flavors were on point, and there was plenty of it. These wings were also a mix of small to medium and were really soggy. Seasoned Fries- The seasoned fries had great flavor, almost like bbq dry rubbed? Idk the flavor was fantastic. These suffered the same fate as the wings, soggy. This entire visit was a miss for me. They were bagging my food when I walked in, and it took me 11 minutes to get home with the food. Imagine how bad this would be when your postmates or Uber order takes 45?! I feel like if your main thing is going to be carryout and delivery food, you have to nail the packaging. This failed on all levels for me. Hopefully, they can rework the packaging and solve that issue. I'll give them another try in a bit to find out.
