Fires
Andrew M.

Price: $; $7 to $20 Portion Size: Seems small, but it will fill you up Service: The service was fast and reminded me of New York - Overall review, The atmosphere of Texas Fried Chicken was at first a little weird, but you get used to it the longer you stay. The area is in the lower class area of Orlando, but the people in the restaurant are friendly and the police station was right across the street so it is in a safe area. - Meal: The Monster Burger At first glance, the Monster Burger looks like any old burger, but oh was I wrong. Double patty, lamb, and what I think is halal bacon but I'm not too sure. All I know is that there were 3 different types of meat. The three different types of meat were sandwiched between lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, ketchup, onions, and two sesame seed buns. The burger looks small, but it is really filling. You can taste the different types of meats with each bite, but that's all you can taste. I tried my best to see if I could taste other flavors; the lettuce, tomatoes, onions, or the condiments; but it was a no go. The taste of the meats was overpowering, but the quality of the meats was good. The lamb was tender and melts as you bite into the burger. Altogether, the burger tasted like a gyro but in burger form. If you don't know what a gyro taste like... try one, it's worth your money, and it tastes like a pork, chicken, or a fast food version of lamb wrapped in flatbread. (Let's get this BREAD!) Although it might sound bad for you (which it probably is), it tastes pretty good. - Meal 2: Fries The fires are addicting. I was full after eating the burger and I still couldn't stop eating the fries. The look of the fires made it seem like they are hand fried from potatoes and not from a bag.

We like to find new places to eat when we travel, and this came up in our search a few times, so we…read moredecided to check it out. It was 30 minutes from our hotel, so I was hopeful that it wouldn't disappoint! We got there relatively early (20 minutes after they opened for the day), and nobody else was there, so that was kind of awkward, as was being told to order from a kiosk (or use the QR code at the table), rather than give my order to a human. But the kiosk allowed us to kind of 'shop' before making our decision, so that was good. Since we were the only customers, everything came out fast and fresh (in fact, his came out a few minutes before mine, so I had to steal his fries until mine came out, lol) Hubs got the Ultimate Smash Burger and Fries, which was delicious. Soft bun, big burger, delicious fries. I got the Chicken Dippers, and y'all - they were HUGE! And you got SIX of them! Well-seasoned and well-fried, with a flavor that I know I've had before (spice-wise), but I couldn't put my finger on. I ended up only eating two of the tenders, and brought the other 4 home for leftovers. The staff were all super-friendly and attentive. They gave me a box/bag for my leftovers, and bussed our trays when we were done. Seating is ALL tables, so if you're a "Booth Person" you might be bummed. But the seats were comfy, even on a bigger tushie like mine. Paper towels, salt & pepper, and ketchup were on the tables. The only 'con' for me was the hush puppies... it had pieces of corn in it. This is a personal preference, of course, but I like my HPs without pieces of corn or onions, so I didn't ding them for that! Great job to everyone here, everything was delicious. It's on my "Must Go Back" list for next time I'm in the area.

Parking available on a Saturday night. Flavor was so good! I miss it already. So much meat in the…read moresnow crab.

Feels somewhat like a small-town diner. The menu has awesome choices, but there's a ton of stuff that is $30+ (several $50+) and I really didn't want to spend that much on lunch. I picked a snapper sandwich with a side caesar & my friend got a shrimp quesadilla. They came out about 10-15 mins later. price seemed a bit high, but i know costs have skyrocketed lately, so them's the breaks. The fish on my sandwich was flavorful - but very dry. Would have been better cooked with some kind of fat. The bread was fluffy & nice, but fell apart right away. The veggies in the sandwich were fresh & bright. The caesar side was amazing. they gave me tartar & ketchup, so i asked for cocktail sauce because ketchup is weird for this. No problem. I didn't even finish half because it was so big! My friend's quesadilla was very tasty, but for some reason, it's an absolute oil slick. So the opposite end of the spectrum lol. She enjoyed it but couldn't finish because it was too greasy. There was a thick layer of oil on the plate and on the quesadilla. The ladies working there are really nice & helpful. They checked on us several times. I paid really fast & they got us out the door in less than 45 minutes! I would love to get some of the fancier stuff sometime, but would probably want to eat it elsewhere, because the diner feel doesn't match how fancy the food is. But overall, great experience with the asterisk being the cooking styles & plain appearance. I thought i got pics but can't find them now, but the presentation was great.

Walking in, I was greeted by a friendly young gentleman. I had placed a to-go order and within minutes, my food was handed to me. I had ordered the grouper with fried rice and vegetable medley and the calamari appetizer. I have to say that both the grouper and calamari were excellent. The fried rice and vegetable medley were also pretty amazing. The prices here are very good. The grouper plate was about twenty-two dollars and the calamari was about eighteen dollars. The quality of the food could definitely rival more expensive restaurants. I will definitely have to return here and I will give it five stars for an incredible meal.

The entire experience was excellent from start to finish. The bartenders and staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the menu had so many great options. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller and raw oysters -- all from New Orleans -- and they were absolutely delicious. Next time, I would definitely try the fried oysters as well. I had the crab cake, which was huge and packed with crab meat with very little filler, exactly how a great crab cake should be. My husband ordered the fish tacos, and they were equally delicious. Overall, we had a great experience and would absolutely return for dinner again if we are ever back in the area!

Menu can be a bit overwhelming which is not necessarily a bad thing. We decided to do the Bite 30 menu. For one of the meals we got the crab cake as course 1, and the lobster tail as course 2. For the other meal we got the peel and eat shrimp and the grouper. We also added a 1/2 dozen order of oysters. Sides included corn on the cob, okra, mashed potatoes, and fries. Food was decent, value was mid. For the quality of the food, prices could stand to be slightly lower. Bloody Marys were the best value at $5 each on happy hour, but the taste was not great.

I'm not a fan of rum, but the drink I had (at the recommendation of our server) was actually very good. I can't remember the name unfortunately, but it was one of the "tide" drinks - not the velvet - but it's not on the online menu. For food my friend and I shared the cheesy arepas, which were good but not like usual arepas. She had the empanadas and liked them, I had the la canoa, which is a take on a Puerto Rican dish, it was really good, but different than I expected. For dessert we tried the banana bread pudding. It was huge and tasty, but way too much for two people. I will say, I always get confused and read this dish as bread pudding with bananas, but no it is made with banana bread. So if you don't like that, I'd try something else. Also, shoutout to our great server Freddie. He was very patient and knowledgeable.

Never Made It Inside - Poor Wait Time Management…read more We were really looking forward to trying this place for the first time, but unfortunately never got to eat here. We arrived at 6pm on a Sunday and were told the wait would be 45 minutes to 1 hour. We understood it was busy and put our name down. After waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes, we checked back in, only to be told they had no idea when we'd be seated. We gave it another 10 minutes, but still no timeline or update. I completely understand that restaurants get slammed and wait times can be unpredictable. What was frustrating wasn't the wait itself - it was the lack of honest communication. If it was going to be a 1.5-2 hour wait, just tell us upfront so we can make an informed decision about our evening. Honestly, the host seemed to have forgotten about us as she seemed surprised and scrolled way down the list to find our name even though we were "top of the list". After waiting over 1.5 hours with no end in sight and getting increasingly hungry, we had to leave and grab food elsewhere. With three hosts working, I would have expected better expectation management than what we experienced tonight. I hope this was just an off night, but we left disappointed and hungry.
