The ambiance is nice and there is a good amount of seating. However the food quality has significantly decreased since the last time I visited about a year ago. The octopus was overcooked and very chewy and stringy. The rest of the food was good but nothing impressive. The saving grace was the bread and the risotto.

At first look, we weren't inspired by the A La carte menu, but much more by the degustation offer. In the end, we had to choose a different offer starting with fried calamari. It fitted well its role of an appetizer, just tasty enough even if it might have better with more spices. The rizzoto with oyster mushrooms as main dish was extremely copious and quite delicious. The beef and French fries was fine but no more than that. I would like to stress out the special offer that our waitress made. Acknowledging the slow service that evening, she asked us to choose some alcohol that would be free of charge. We have all heard of a lack of staff in the hospitality industry but very few restaurants take the extra step of ensuring that the customers are fully satisfied. A small gesture like the one we experienced was a winner for us. The restaurant has on its first floor a lot of spaces here and there plus the large table. This would definitely our best option when we go back as the mezzanine can become very noisy.

Got the tasting menu. Overall the food is a bit on greasy side, the duck breast is tender, but honestly for a 100 dollar per person meal, there's nothing to write home about. Sorry. 3 star is already generous, I was bored.

Coming in to Easter weekend, I was dreading trying to figure out how to come up with a nice dinner for the family in the midst of the pandemic... I hoped against hope that some clever restaurant would hear my cry for gastronomic help. Lo and behold, Chez Victoire to the rescue! Seeing they were offering a beautiful Easter dinner set menu for a very reasonable $25/person, I called several days ahead to reserve for four people. They were super nice on the phone and in person when I went to pick things up. Very efficient, prepaid and given a specific time for pick up, I was the only customer in the store. I waited and they placed the order on a table and then I could pick it up. Very smooth. The instructions on how to reheat and serve the meal were very clear and easy to follow. The dinner was a real feast, and great value for the money. There was a butternut squash soup with duck confit and Brussel sprout garnish which we actually saved for lunch the next day because it looked like so much food. For the main course, there was leeks with vinaigrette, cauliflower gratin with béchamel sauce, baked beans with maple syrup and braised lamb, and maple syrup ham with carrots, peas and puréed potatoes. We finished off with a delicious maple syrup tart with pecans. I'd say my only minor issue was that I would have liked just a slightly larger piece of ham, otherwise the meal was perfection! Better than anything I could have come up with even under the best of circumstances. I am secretly hoping they keep doing this even after the pandemic for next Easter. Props to Chez Victoire for finding creative ways to stay open during these crazy times. Can't wait to come here in person when life gets back to normal... and I hope they do the Easter take out menu next year so I can pass it off to my in laws as my own cooking. ;)

Decent French bistro. Came to this restaurant with my husband and baby for our last day dinner in Montreal. Ordered two formula that came with 4 dishes for 49 dollars (per formula) - tomato salad&beef tartar, foie gras & ratatouille, octopus&duck and dessert. All the dishes were beautifully presented and served in the right moments. We liked beef tartare, octopus and duck. Dessert was only one kind which was a bit disappointing.

Wow super disappointed about chez Victoire last night! Did not even bother staying! We stormed off after 15 minutes! We did not even order as they had nothing on their menu! Service was kindove lame.. everyone running around like chickens with their heads cut off everywhere. The ambiance was real loud and uncomfortable. Theyre regular menu was not available as there was some kind of festival going on called: "MTL à table" and they only had a set menu to chose .. very little selection.. I was so disappointed how can it be on a Saturday night the most busiest of all nights you remove your menu!!!? I came specifically to " déguster " lol the french term to enjoy their roasted cauliflower my favourite item on their menu was not available. So we decided ok lets order up oysters get 18 oysters. They come back after 10 minutes telling us they sold out all their oysters and only have 6 left.. we decided enough is enough.. we came here to enjoy good food and we wont settle and give them our money for food we dont even like ! Really disappointed.. never believed their service and food would go downhill.. they use to be one of the top places ..for many things.

We hesitated visiting this spot because we were trying to avoid pricey dinners during our Montreal trip. We walked by this spot several times (a block from our rented apartment), and finally caved. The best meal we had in Montreal! -Went on Sunday night around 8pm; 4 course meal for $30 on Sundays!! - both ordered same courses: mozzarella/tomato/edamame appetizer (mozzarella melts in your mouth!), second course was salmon tartare (salmon and fennel /radish relish was great, bread a bit soggy); 3rd course was wild mushroom risotto (really rich but so freakin' good!); 4th course was dessert , chocolate lava cake (great quality chocolate) Service was impeccable; accidentally brought out 1 of our courses too quickly, so gave us glass of wine in the house! No service like this at home in Miami. Worth it!

    Tuna tataki :)

Three #YelpClubdesVins events and I feel fully eligible to write a happy review for Chez Victoire. Definitely five stars wine list. Not your standard one, as an example you can actually try few orange wines if you'd like something different. The wonderful and knowledgeable staff will gladly recommend a wine pairing for your dish. Inventive food menu, small dishes full of surprizes. I'm still dreaming about the tuna tataki I had during the first wine event. The menu changes often and that dream hasn't come true again. The price of the plates may be considered as a little bit high for the small portions, but as high is the quality. My last experiment with the menu, Pomme de terre Gabrielle, paired very well with the red from Domaine St-Jacques, local Quebec wine maker. At first glance the dish may look like potatoes covered with egg white, but in reality it is a nice blend of flavours, including black pudding and roasted chipollini. The room of the bistro is beatiful, the long bar and tall tables arranged in the middle look like a gorgeous place to be from the private area of the second floor. And did I mention how courteous is the service! Five stars out of six!

The only thing I really enjoyed here was their special cauliflower dish. The rest was ok. Portions are small and price is steep. I went twice for the cauliflower and wouldn't go back now

It was around 3pm and of course we were the only people there, but generally didn't find the service to be that friendly or accommodating - it was more courteous and efficient as opposed to being very welcoming, which is totally fine. Overall, like many wine bars in Montreal, the BTG and bottle list skews very heavily toward natural or minimal intervention wines from all over the world (except the United States due to tariff boycotts). Although Quebec is a burgeoning wine producing region (often overshadowed by BC wines from Okanagan and ON ice wines), I found many lists did not offer much from the region, which is really disappointing. vinvinvin definitely had the most options available (perhaps 5-6 total of 40-50+ labels) and many BTG, which is great if you're looking to try some local wines. They do offer food, but the kitchen doesn't open until 4pm so we didn't try anything. Overall, I like the decor of the place and it seems like it'd be a really fun place to hang out with friends. But given that we were the only clients there at the time, I wish the service was a bit friendlier.

Prices were okay, and wine selection is not too bad. We got a couple of vermouths, which were nice to drink. We ordered olives to nibble on and I thought those were good. Decor looks unpretentious at least, but a bit too crowded for my taste. It's an okay place to visit if you want some pre-dinner beverages.
