Great breakfast/brunch place to eat in Montreal! We came here before heading back home and were surprised to see the retaurant quite busy on a Tuesday. Luckily there were 2 seats left at what one might call a "communal table." I ordered an Americano and eventually a glass of sparkling wine. I wanted a Mimosa but they mix it with apple juice instead of orange so I declined. They have an excellent wine selection, mostly natural wines which are my favorite. For entrees, I had toast with eggs and side of bacon. I also ordered this butternut squash dish for an appetizer which was excellent. My husband also ordered toast, with eggs and fries. Before we ate the server came over and told us there were 2 bar seats avail. so we were very pleased to move. I loved it here! The staff was great, the food was excellent and the decor was definitely very hip. I think the area had an artsy vibe to it, and they had some cute shops around too. Check them out for sure while visiting Montreal!

Let me start this off by saying these are the best scrambled eggs I've ever had. They were buttery and soft and seasoned just right. I heard the guy a-crossed the bar talking about how they were the best scrambled eggs ever and he wasn't wrong. The mushrooms and the jam and toast were also very good. Definitely get the jam on the side, the toast needs it. The service was great, sitting at the bar was nice, and we didn't have to wait long at all to get a table or our food. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area.

In so many ways, Larry's is just what a restaurant should be. I came solo and sat myself at the bar, which is comfy and nicely lit with the little neon "Larry's" sign across from me making me feel right at home. The staff was super friendly and just the right amount of attentive. The dinner menu is relatively short if you're not in the mood for a sandwich, but there's a good looking option for whatever veg/meat/fish you're going for. I had the mackerel spaghetti. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the sauce was a rich, spicy tomato-fish masterclass, and all topped off with some breadcrumb for texture. Simple and very delicious. Try before you commit as I had a really expressive natural skin contact wine that might not be for everyone but was definitely for me. For another patron's espresso martini, I watched the bartender arrange a few coffee beans for garnish with the kind of great care that the place seems to put into everything they're doing. My only regret is only having one stomach to fill - highly suggest coming with a little group that likes to share. All in all, I left Larry's very satisfied and with a little more joy than I'd come in with. For me, it's what food is all about.

Loved this little spot in the Mile End! Staff is great, service is exceptional. No tips either, the workers get paid a higher wage. The server found me a great wine that I really enjoyed. The delicata squash was amazing, I love the caramelization on the squash, the pesto sauce and feta were a perfect combo. Already thinking of whether I can recreate this because I don't live in Montreal! My burger was such a classic, cooked perfectly medium rare and meat was tender and juicy. Generously topped with juicy tomatoes and lettuce. Bun was poppyseed and you can tell it was a freshly made bun. I went for dinner but have read this place is great for brunch as well!

Everything I tasted was amazing, but portions are ridiculously small. Need about 3 plates for a full meal. Bon appetit!!

Great service! Great food! Chill vibes... great tunes! We came early like 5 minutes before they opened on a Saturday and sat at the bar. The wine menu is great and if we had all the time in the world I would've stayed all day and drank to my hearts desire but... as tourists we had a bit of an itinerary... I ordered the breakfast sandwich and my bf got the pikelets. Both were DELISH! But the pikelets really stood out, if I remember correctly they use their own sourdough starter for them. The food isn't fancy or complicated it's just really GOOD. Would def go back and try aaallllll the things on the menu.

I absolutely adore this all day eatery in Montreal! Earlier this year, my husband was on a business trip in Montreal and I came along. While he was working I leisurely explored the city. On one of the days I came here for a late lunch and it was delightful! Fantastic food, amazing wine selection, homey vibes and friendly staff. Looking at this picture makes me crave some steak tartare!

Great ambiance here. Nicely cooked steaks, fresh lobster, great service. We had a lovely time. Go for the terrace if you can.

You walk in and there's a clothing store on one side and black curtains straight ahead. I just stood there confused for a second until someone suddenly appeared and escorted me through the curtains, down a long dark hallway, and into this intimate, dimly lit bar. Turns out, I had accidentally stumbled into a speakeasy. The space is tiny--maybe 6-8 seats at the bar and a long banquet along the wall for 10-12 more people. No menus either. They ask what you like and don't like, then craft a cocktail specifically for you. The pours are generous and the bar is stocked with top-shelf liquor. About a drink and a half in, I realized I needed actual food immediately and had to leave. The staff was friendly, personable, and chatty, and because the space is so intimate, you naturally end up talking with the people around you. Definitely more of a solo or date-night spot than a group hang. Such a cool, unexpected experience.

I'm a fan of cocktail bars, and after reading up on this spot I made it my intention to check it out. It just so happened that it was a short walk from my hotel, so we decided to check it out one night before heading to dinner. The Cloakroom is a speakeasy, nestled behind a hidden door in a men's clothing shop. In the line of being a speakeasy, the space is small - there are only 24 seats but since we got there right at opening we were seated right away. The space is dark and intimate, with the bottles of liquor lit up behind the bar providing an attractive focal point. One of the more unique features of the bar is that there's no menu; we told our server the types of liquors we wanted along with the flavor notes and they crafted a cocktail based on our tastes. We ultimately had two rounds; my first drink was vodka-based and fruity, while I went with something gin-based and dryer. Both were very good - there's little fanfare with presentation; the bartenders let the drinks speak for themselves. Service was great; due to the setup, each patron is given extra attention which really highlighted the experience. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at The Cloakroom Bar. This was definitely a unique experience with excellent curated drinks. I would definitely return the next time I'm in Montreal.

Tucked away with a beautiful terrasse in the back, it's the kind of place you'd almost miss--but absolutely shouldn't. Everything we tried was delicious and thoughtfully prepared, with portions that are just right. The beef and mushroom tartare was a standout--rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced--and the braised lamb cavatelli was simply outstanding. The lemon tiramisu for dessert was the best ive ever had. Overall, a fantastic experience. Can't wait to come back!
