    Mushroom soup

Okay, it's difficult for me to review this place, because while the food was amazing - five stars for me, really - at the verrrry end of our meal, when the restaurant was closing up and we were the last patrons, we saw a mouse. Yikes. If you're still interested in the awesome food - hence my overall four star rating - here's what I ate: +brie +mushroom soup (comes with entree) +side salad (comes with entree) +steak frites +lamb lollipops +creme brûlée My mom and I wanted to split the lamb, and they were able to divide the entree and salad in the kitchen on separate plate, which was appreciated. It was a huge portion and tasted fantastic. I also devoured the Brie almost singlehandedly and had a few bites of the beef - incredible. The creme brûlée was perfect. If you're still reading, here's where things took a turn. We were waiting for our check when we saw The Mouse. Not a rat, mind you, though we made plenty of Ratatouille jokes, and I would go as far as to say it was even cute. But still. In a subway: fine. In a resultant: uh-uh. We thought we were going to have to tell the waitstaff and hope they didn't think we were lying, but that little guy stuck around, so there was no shortage of evidence. Here's the thing. I took issue not with the fact that we saw a mouse - though that was creepy - but because the staff didn't do anything. We received a brief apology and some explanation about having the doors open on NYE, but come on, not even a dessert or glass of wine comped? Sorry if that makes me sound entitled, but in my experience, when three patrons (including a local) are freaked out, you do a little something to make them happy.

This resto is very cute and affordable and the waiters are very nice. I had the MTL a table menu. I started with the salmon gravlax with squid ink sour cream and pickles. The salmon was cut up into thick triangular pieces cut in triangles. It was so good! It was def my favorite thing of the night. It didn't come with bread...it came with these circular mini pancake. The second dish was supposed to be rabbit saddle stuffed with Saint-Benoît-du-Lac blue cheese, apple and sparkling cider sauce but they replaced the rabbit with pork. The blue cheese was not very strong n the pork was quite tasty. That being said I preferred my date's duck confit off of the regular menu. The skin was so crispy and I liked that it came with a soup or salad. It's definitely worth it for the price. Lastly, we shared the creme brulée and the tarte tatin. Based on the reviews I read on yelp people seem to be loving the creme brulee but it was just ok. I've had better. Also I did not like the tarte tatin. The dough was very acidic. :(

Love this restaurant! The food was top notch and it paired up well with the wine. The atmosphere is relaxed and easy going, it's a perfect place for large groups. At the same time, it's a good place to go out for a date, it is mostly an "older" 30+ crowd and I love it. Definitely recommend it if you're in town.

Sweet garlic, had nothing I could say I feel the garlic in at all. Flavorless. Five pepercorn with cognac non existent ! The only time i taste the peppercorn was if I BIT the actual peppercorn. The dessert ? I ate 2 bites and left the entire thing. The "crust" was nowhere to be found it was watered down carton... and the lime layer felt like I was biting into fake jelly. Plus it didn't have capers which imo overwhelms tartares. Duck with carrot: as a Chinese person I've had my share of duck but this might be the best duck I've ever had in my life. The texture and cook on it was awesome! First it came with three pieces of breast. It was the perfect cook, not over like most of the places I've had duck. Then the leg had the perfect crispy fatty skin to meat ratio. Yum yum this is a can't miss dish here Burger: husband got this. I took a bite. It had a nice smoke to it and was perfectly medium rare. BEST "BYOB" FRENCH BISTRO DURING RECENT TRIP…read more This is the best dining experience in our recent Montreal trip. I'm glad we made reservation since the place was quite packed when we arrived. To be honest, our first impression wasn't too great. We were seated in their main indoor dining area which was a bit too warm. We asked if we can be moved to their fully covered / heated patio area, but unfortunately the restaurant was full. Fast forward 15 minutes, we have placed our order and were enjoying our bottle of wine and a basket of bread. Our server came over and offered to move us to the patio area since a table had opened up. We were pleasantly surprised because (1) we didn't ask again and (2) most restaurants wouldn't change tables once customers started eating/drinking. The restaurant setting is unpretentious with a casual and cozy vibes. The staff are so friendly that we feel like having a family dinner! They offer a pre-fixe menu in which we thoroughly enjoyed! For appetizers, the escargot dish gave us a pleasant surprise. They wrapped the escargots and blue cheese sauce in a thin crispy crust! It's hard to describe, but it's sort of like having an escargot "crepe"! The few main courses we chose were excellent, and the rack of lamb was probably our favorite - tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. As for dessert, their creme brulee was one of the best I've had - creamy custard topped with a perfect, crisp caramel top. I'd highly recommend this place, and will certainly visit again when I'm in town next time!

I do recommend making a reservation on open table prior to coming. Here is what I think of the food: Seasoning is generally saltier but not too overly. Escargot or the snails is yummy. Cheese & Charcuterie board is as what you imagined. It can't go wrong. Rack of Lamb was good. I do recommend highly. It comes with our 4-5 bones worth of protein with potatoes & veggies. Lost track of how many bones because it was eaten so fast. Duck confit was average. Let me explain, duck was average but the amount of spinach I gotten and how potatoes on the plate was good. Sides out shine the protein here. Side of Foie Gras was perfect because I was worried about having too much food. It did come on a small plate because it's a side dish and it was fatty and salty. Intermission was the best cocktail of the night. Fruity with a star anise on top so you smell it while drinking it because it was so close to your nose. Jazz District was okay. Overall, I do think this restaurant site fairly between 4&5 stars. Do try it. I would come back for special occasions and it's not an every night meal.
