    Cassolette de 12 escargots , beurre à l'ail

Cute little BYOB on prince Arthur between st Laurent and st Denis. Hearty French food, classic menu, portion size is just right to enjoy all three courses of the table d'hôte. We shared : Escargots served in a buttery garlic sauce. About 8-10medium sized escargots, really yummy and tasty. 4/5 (could've had a little more garlic/parsley/salt!) Foie gras with tomatoes confit. 3/5. Nothing too crazy Filet mignon with "sauce au poivre". *WINNER OF THE NIGHT* 5/5. Meat was cooked to perfection, juicy and soft, and the sauce was soooo delicious! Would come back just for this. Magret de canard (duck breast) with grilled vegetables and dark sauce. 4/5. It was good, but not that memorable. Amaretto crème brûlée -5/5. The perfect balance of creamy, crunchy top and a kick of amaretto. Moelleux au chocolat -5/5. The French know how to do this. Overall, adding this place to my list of favourite BYOBs based on the quality of the food! The setting is not as trendy as other popular BYOBS, but Would definitely recommend for a simple, hedinner.

This meal was so flavorful! You have to bring your own alcohol but it doesn't take away from the amazing meal!

We came here with 3 children ages 3, 3 and 6. We got a nice spot outside next to the fountain which was perfect. Because our children didn't want anything on the menu, the chef graciously accommodated us by making a special grilled chicken meal with salad and fries- the chicken was delicious! I ordered the grilled chicken salad which was so good I could not stop eating it. We all ordered dessert and I highly recommend the chocolate cake with ice cream. Overall we had a wonderful experience for our last meal in Montreal. Perfect ending to a fabulous trip! Also worth noting that this place is BYOB with a beer store conveniently located across the road!

We went for the mtl a table event. I enjoyed the main meal a combination of tartar and the entree of cheeses were delicious but the desert was not good at all. I would not go back. It is a BYOB

Good ambiance, good french food! Our french waiter was fast and polite. Good servings. Get their Table d'hôte (set menu), it's worth your money. Enjoy! :)

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. I would absolutely love to come back!!

Service was excellent. It was very busy when we arrived, but we were told it would only be a 10 minute wait. We sat outside on a bench, and waited to be called. I admired the ambiance as we were shown to our table. It was full, and noisy, but so much that we couldn't talk to each other. Bonus points for whoever designed the sound system that played 80s music during our visit. Enough speakers to fill the room with sound, and the system didn't need to played loud to be enjoyed. Coffee was superb. Just the right strength, with lovely notes of chocolate. I had the chicken melt, which was incredible. Real chicken pieces, sauce with a touch of heat, and toppings with just the right amount of savoury. Her panini was equally good. The star of the meal was the french roast. Heated all the way through, with the right balance of fruit, cheese, and syrop.

I stayed there recently, and on the morning of my check-out I received a phone call with devastating news about a life-threatening medical emergency in my immediate family. I was on the phone trying to resolve the problem with Emergency Room doctors and lost track of the time. When I received a call from the hotel management to inform me that I had overstayed my time in the room, I raced at lightening speed to clear out of the room. Minutes later, I cleared out of the room, which I left immaculate and ready to be sold to another guest. I departed the room well before the 4pm check-in time for new guests; I checked out just 2 hours late (literally it was 2 hours). They nonetheless slapped me with a $60 fine for this very small, very human error. It was one of the worst days of my life, I was in tears and begged them not to charge me. I am also disabled and they not only refused to remove the $60 fine, they also did not help me with my bags when my taxi came, they let me limp and drag my own luggage to the curb. I am beyond shocked at this cruelty and greed, at this utter lack of compassion and inability to relate to a fellow human being as anything other than a cash cow. I will never forget being treated this way when I was in distress. Also the breakfast is terrible and overpriced; the coffee was cold, the fruit was flavorless and dried out, there were few fresh and healthy choices, mostly ultra processed yoghurt and cereals, commercialized white bread. All for $25, way too much in a city with such incredible food. I do not enjoy giving negative reviews, and I tried to resolve this both in person and on the phone subsequently and was met with cold indifference at every turn.

The bar is first come, first served, so if you forget to book ahead, it's definitely worth trying your luck. You can still order anything from the full menu. The modern, upscale interior sets the tone for a fancy brunch experience that feels both elegant and welcoming. Foie gras for breakfast? Absolutely yes. They also have a full bar for anyone who wants something pretty to sip on while enjoying their meal. The servers were bilingual in French and English, and they were kind, attentive, and made the whole experience smooth from start to finish. My goal was to eat as much foe grais as I can on this trip so I ordered the Foie Gras Poached Eggs. OMG starting off with the bread that was on the bottom, it was so soft and fluffy. Literally melted in my mouth. The foie gras had a beautiful sear and was rich and silky, with a texture that honestly reminded me of ice cream. There was also a touch of sweetness in the sauce that cut through the richness in the best way. Every bite was perfectly balanced. I was super impressed and will absolutely try to visit again the next time I'm in Montreal.
