Came here for dinner with my husband. We had three course dinner (38 € dinner prefixes). I was excited to have our NYE dinner at Chez Michel. We got there few minutes before our reservation. There were a lot of tables open, but we got seated at the corner of the restaurant where it was darker and colder. For drinks we got beer and tap water. For starters, my husband and I each ordered chanterelle fricasses and country pate. For entree, we got flank steak and some beef/pork broth (I forgot the name and I also forgot to take pictures of our main entrees). For dessert, we ordered Paris Brest and Panna cotta. The starter and entree were mediocre at best. It didn't taste like what I expected, and I did not quite finish my meal. I could not finish half of my starter. However, the desserts were amazing. Both of them were fantastic and affirmed me that France is indeed the best country to get good pastry. I am giving 3 stars total despite our underwhelming experience with seating and food because the service was nice and desserts were amazing. The price came out to be around 100 € total, and I don't think the whole experience/food was worth it. Hopefully we will have better experience if we visit here again.

Me and my wife popped in here at the last minute on a day In September. The waitstaff was extremely attentive and accommodating to any request. The hostess was a younger girl who met us with a bright smile. We were seated in the basement next to the wine cellar. I highly suggest this area as there's less traffic and it has a "cave" feeling which adds a ton of ambiance and romance. The menu is sort of prefix except you get to pick one appetizer, one main and one dessert from a short list within each category. Me opted to each choose something different so we could sample a larger portion of the entire menu. Everything we ate was a 10* and we highly suggest this restaurant for traditional French romantic bistro

- They speak English + have an English menu - Great service, very friendly - You can make a reservation through Google if your French is terrible like mine and don't want to call them - The 3-course meal will make you VERY full - Interesting choice of Comic Sans as a font for their menu.... Came here for dinner while staying in Gare du Nord. I enjoyed everything I had here (minus the escargot they give you as an appetizer, just not an escargot fan). I got the 3-course prefix meal and I was about to burst at the end of the meal and actually couldn't finish my dessert. While I had no complaints about the taste of the food, I think it's better to order a la carte because the 3-course meal might be too much and it's around 39/39 Euros per person, which isn't exactly cheap. Very friendly staff and they have an English menu (although they used Comic Sans as the font, which was...interesting). I loved the bouillabaisse + the bone marrow!

Great food. English speaking friendly. The foie gras I had was amazing. It was served with a medley of wild mushrooms in a broth I could not dipping my bread into its earthy delight. The server surprised me when he brought the live lobster to my table first (I know it said live but I was hoping they were still going to cook it! Wasn't sure if this was a French thing). And the lobster...what can I say. Served in the tail shell with claw meat with fresh peas, zucchini, beets and beans. Just summer and sea freshness in a bowl!

Steak. Flank maybe?

Super cute restaurant with friendly staff. They gave us English menus 'cause they could just tell we weren't from there even though we knew French. We were presented with this 3 course menu which is way too many courses for me, I'm good with just a main dish but we went with it. Ordered the fish soup (salty) as an app, this steak (delicious), and I got the panna cotta for dessert while my sister ordered this choux pastry (she didn't like it). Accidentally ordered sparkling water which was €6 or something. Regrets. This was the most pricey meal we had in Paris but we enjoyed it

Stumbled upon this cute restaurant after arriving around the corner at Gare du Nord. The staff smiled and welcomed me in, storing my luggage out the way for me. Their recommendations were fantastic, each bite was divine. I had the foie gras with beetroot purée and mixed fruit (and a chilli to add complexity!), my main was a dish recommended from Brittany of tenderised meat and dessert that I can only describe as angelic! Atmosphere was warm and friendly perfect any occasion, including a meal for one :)

This is the best French restaurant in my trip of Paris. The picture tells everything.

Fish soup, roasted grouse chest, and rice pudding with strawberry jam.

I wanted one excellent meal while in Paris, and they delivered. Though I didn't make a reservation they were able to accommodate. The menu is prix fixe, and has three courses. I chose the fish soup, roasted grouse chest, and rice pudding for dessert. The soup had so many flavors, each bite became more delicious than the previous. Also, it could be an entrée on its own, which is great for someone with an appetite like mine. I adored the grouse chest, though anyone not comfortable with foie gras beware, it has a layer within the meat. It is very rich, and salty, so I would get a wine to contrast, as it could be overbearing to some. Lastly, the rice pudding... I thought I was going to cry. It made me feel like a child again. The flavors were simple, delicious, and made for the perfect end to a beautiful meal. The portion was enough for three or four people, so don't expect to finish it without a bear-like appetite :) Loved my experience!

A sample of snails is a great start to the meal

I started with the free-range eggs with mayo, and my wife started with the leeks with vinaigrette. The eggs were delicious, but the leeks may have been the best preparation I've ever had in my life. For our main courses, she had the egg muffin, and I had the sausage and mash. Our meal was superb. Whoever is in the kitchen has clearly learned the art of French cuisine well. Service was fantastic, the people-watching (we ate al fresco) was fantastic, and I simply couldn't think of a way to make this a better meal.

Luca was my server and he was very welcoming in hospitable to this weary traveler. I sat on the patio towards the end of the row so I could take in the atmosphere and people watch a bit. Luca Recommended a meal with a mashed potatoes and sausage with French bread and salad and it sounded tasty so I gave it a go! All the flavors went well together; mashed potatoes were well seasoned the sausage had a good flavor, and the salad with the vinaigrette added a crunch in an extra flavor as well. I drank a French hard cider while I gobbled up my meal, which also was new for me and tasted great after I was done my meal. Luke brought me a shot with rum and some other ingredients, including lemon that definitely hit the spot after a good meal.I recommend Brasserie Belanger for anyone near GDN Train Station that enjoys great food and patio dining. Cheers!

There were also tables outside but not many. The ambiance is good. The music is a bit loud for the amount of people that were dining in. The atmosphere is quite romantic with the dimmed lighting and the candles but the music does not set that tone whatsoever. Props to our server for bringing us extra plates when we mentioned we would be sharing the appetizer. Beef bourguignon with mashed potatoes (5/5): the portions were worth it for the price. They were quite sizable. When I was cutting, I could tell the beef was so tender. The meat was marinated very well and deep into it. Tap to pay is accepted. Overall, La Cave Gourmande is a small cute restaurant for some delicious french food. I highly recommend their beef bourguignon.

This place is a gem!…read more We were in Paris for two weeks and this place was so good, we had it twice. Located in Montmartre, this cozy 'cave' sits upon a busy street. As an American, you must get used to the slow pace that most restaurants run here. But, I've taken a sincere liking to slowing down and enjoying my food rather than eating 'on the go.' Order the beef bourguignon. It is amazing. Comes in a steaming pot with buttery mashed potatoes. Also tried the foie gras, escargots, and frog legs. Haven't had a dish that wasn't up to par. This place deserves more attention. A must visit if you're in the area.

Food: Of the things we ordered, I tried the: - Frog Legs - Puff pastry with snails - Duck breast - Ribeye steak - Chicken stuffed with foie gras - Creme brulee - Chocolate delight Everything was unbelievably good. The food was clearly homemade with care, and prepared with fresh ingredients. One thing I appreciated was that the food was not oily or greasy. I dream of the duck, frog legs, creme brulee, and chocolate delight - this was the best duck and creme brulee I have ever had. The duck and steak came with AMAZING potato wedges, which may be my favorite part of the meal. Service: this restaurant is a small family restaurant, owned by a father who cooks. His daughter managed the front of the restaurant when I dined here. She was incredibly friendly, spoke both French and English, and provided wonderful recommendations. The restaurant is decorated so that is feels inviting and warm, but not small.

We were so looking forward to the frog legs, onion soup and other delicacies pictured. We got there and the sign was just as it was with the same name -- Au Pied du Sacre Coeur. We should've noticed something was wrong when no one was inside. When the waiter (lone person working along with cook) gave us the menu, my wife and I stared at each other completely confused. The menu looked nothing like the ones on this website and featured Italian food items, like spaghetti, arroz con pollo or mozarella. I asked him about frog legs or the onion soup. He looked confused and just said no. Out of respect for him, we just ordered the charcuterie, which featured stale bread and a few slices of meat taken from my local grocery store in the U.S. Also -- they claimed to not accept any international credit cards. WHAT HAPPENED? Are all these reviews fake? Most likely, they underwent new ownership right when we visited. But new visitors -- please beware. Do not trust any of the reviews before mine. If I was mistaken, please post photos and just tell me that I was part of some elaborate joke to ruin a lunch for me and my wife.
