I don't usually stop here because it's always crowded. But the other day it wasn't busy, so I stopped to gas up. The landscapers were there with their leaf blowers kicking up dust. Reg UL was posted at $4.69/gal. My Shell gas card gave me a 35 ct discount, so I paid $4.34/ gal. Oh well, that's not bad for a Shell station in Palo Alto that's next to a shopping plaza and freeway. There's no food mart. There have a small cashier booth with drink coolers lined up outside. If you want food/ drink/ coffee, go to the shopping plaza next door. If you want to go back to Hwy 101, it can be hard to make a left against all the traffic. It's probably easier to go around the block......R on Wildwood, R on Channing, then R on St Francis, and drive up to the traffic light to make a LEFT back to the freeway. FYI: The speed limit on Embarcadero West is 25 mph.

I got a call that I also needed transmission fluid. I picked up the car later in the day. Today, again, I picked up my car after it's required oil change (yes, I don't put a lot of miles on the car.) I had asked that they give the car a "once-over," which, I was told is procedural. My invoice showed a "25-item Checklist" at no charge and my oil change. Additionally, a week ago I drove in with a flat tire. They pulled the tire, pulled a screw, plugged the tire, put it back on the car, and replaced the spare in the trunk. The Charge? $35. The owner and staff are so helpful and wonderful people with whom to work. We are fortunate to have this service in our back yard.

If you are going to get gas here, however, do not get it when children are getting out school. There were several cars parked in the way of the gas pumps because they were waiting for their children to come there. I would assume that these people do not want to get stuck in the traffic of the school lines picking up children from the front the school, so they wait for their children to walk to this gas station where they are waiting. I am surprised that the gas attendants allow this to happen because it makes for a lot of traffic in a small space. One lady waited in her white SUV on her phone, and kept having to reverse and drive to make room for people wanting to buy gas. When her kid finally got there, she reversed against traffic to get back onto the road during the busiest time of the day. Not only was this dangerous to other drivers, it was dangerous to the other children that were walking here for that same reason. What's concerning is the fact that there were several cars parked at the gas station for the same reason, and all of them drove wrecklessly! This gas station should really look into this because it makes is a dangerous place and although the gas in either direction is more expensive, they could gather more customers because of this unsafe space of parked cars waiting on children, driving recklessly, and then holding up the space for people who want to buy gas.

An odd observation was that it smelled really clean, almost like someone had wiped down the pumps with cleaning liquid or something. I found that the prices at this gas station were exactly the same as other nearby stations like Shell.
