Great location in the Palo Alto area right off Middlefield across the street from Kirk's. Was looking for some FIFA gear and saw that Walgreens carry what I was looking for. Verified that they had it in stock was able to locate it immediately. They shave a small section near the front of the store. The aisle were very organized and very friendly people. It's been a while since I've shopped at Walgreens and didn't know to get the sale price I had to be a rewards member. The cashier upfront was able to help me get signed up so I can the promotional rate for the items I was purchasing. read more

Traumatic vaccine experience. September 2025. Came in to get my yearly flu shot. I was injected in the wrong place! The shot is supposed to go into the deltoid muscle, it was administered below it. I knew something was wrong bc the shot burned more than usual. And then the pharmacist put the bandaid on my shoulder/deltoid (where the shot was supposed to go). Two weeks later, I still have a scar which might be permanent and might need a second flu shot. This is total incompetence. read more

This review is for the Pharmacy. Often times I have to call just 15-30 mins before they close. What they always do is put you on hold for 15-30 mins. So when you wait long enough and call them back, they're close. At times, they would even hung up. Maybe they don't want to work. read more

This location has become pretty awful to shop in. Everything is locked up and you have to use a QR code to request employee assistance(???) The back of the store is dead zone for cellphones, so good luck if you need Advil. And heaven help you if you need Advil, Razors AND baby formula ( or whatever else needs a key). At that point I'm shopping online or elsewhere. And what is with the broomstick with the POOL NOODLES on the shopping carts? I get that it's to keep them inside, but it's soooo tacky. If I wanted to feel like I was shopping at Dollar Tree, I wouldn't be paying $20 for bandaids. Employees are mostly nice, but whoever is making the "loss prevention" decisions needs to be fired. read more

Going here late at night as a person of color was one of the most traumatic memories I've had since childhood. I went there to test a makeup product that I saw on social media, unbeknownst to their policy that states you aren't allowed to test the products. That's totally fine, rules are rules, I get it. I used a beauty product. However, one of their workers, a larger white woman with red hair came out suddenly, lurked behind me for a solid 30 seconds. After, she said, "That's considered petty theft by the way." I replied with, "Oh I didn't know because in most drugstores and beauty stores they let you test it, but I'm happy to purchase it if you consider it a theft." This woman then proceeded to say she was going to report me to the front desk for attempted robbery?!?!?!? I am not a criminal, nor do I have any criminal records. This woman tells the other worker that I stole a makeup product by using it. Thankfully, the other worker was pretty understanding, but because of racial injustices, I felt pressured to purchase this beauty product, which is totally fine I understand it's policy, since this store didn't have any testers and such. All in all, it is the mere fact that this woman saw a person of color in a hoodie using a product and automatically assumed I was attempting to rob the place. The behavior exhibited by this red haired woman was appalling and unacceptable. I've never felt so unwelcome and unsafe in my own neighborhood. Being accused of a serious crime such as attempted robbery is literally INSANE for a 14$ beauty product. Shame on you. read more

I had become fond of this store over the years. Yes, it is overpriced, but they sometimes have discounts. Yes, the pharmacy is very busy, but (other than one person) they are all trying like crazy to do the best job possible. So I would save up my shopping, and wander through, and fill up a cart with stuff that I could get elsewhere, and then pay for it and push my cart to my car. That is, I would shop. But I can't do that anymore. Many of their carts were getting stolen, so now you can't take your cart out of the store. At all. It is physically impossible to do so because of the new cart design; they've attached a long pole to each cart which is blocked by the ceiling of the entrance. This means that the store has become a Monkey Jar Trap. Like a monkey who sticks his hand in a jar to get a treat, but then can't pull his hand out because the treat is in his hand and so the jar opening is now too small, their shoppers now have no way to get their purchases out of the store and to their car, unless they are only getting a few small things. Yes, you can ask the cashier to carry your purchases, but I do not see cashiers as being my servants and so I will not do that. So I will need to do most of my shopping elsewhere. Maybe the expense of the cart theft is so high that they won't care that they are losing people who buy a lot. read more

We wanted to try Walgreens in Midtown as an alternative to CVS Town & Country to compare pharmacy prescription services. First day: (1) the person behind the counter could not find a medication we had confirmed was done in advance. In fact, he couldn't answer a darn question. Totally clueless. (2) The pharmacist is a rude, obnoxious woman who says "no" to everything you request. Unlike CVS, by the way, they do not deliver to home unless your insurance pays for it - and she is not willing to check with insurance directly. That's on us. Who the heck gets their medication from this place? They should go out of business. CVS Town & Country is a busy place, difficult to park, long queues, slightly farther distance from our home. But they are so much more professional and competent. Running back to CVS! read more

This pharmacy doesn't even answer their phones so I couldn't even start on square one. When I called, I had to go through several prompts. Then my call went to a phone service that routed to pharmacy techs off-site. The tech told me that they can handle the bulk of the calls. For me it was just more wait time for me because I needed to know if a certain vaccine was in stock. Then after wasting my time, the tech routed me to the pharmacy. The phone rang about 40 times and then it disconnected me. There was no attempt to pick up the phone. There was no attempt to ask me to hold. I will not be getting any prescriptions at any Walgreens. This Walgreens has admitted to be unwilling to follow COVID-19 compliance standards. A complaint has already been filed with the county health department, which pertains to their refusal to uphold and enforce the state mask mandate among other violations. One of their regular employees (a bald man) informed me during checkout today (12/2/2020) that he feels stores like Safeway that feature employees at the entry way enforcing mask compliance are being excessive in their practices, and that this Walgreens location does not enforce the mask mandate. He then discussed regulars who do not wear masks in the store, despite the state mandate and numerous other options the store offers for people who cannot wear masks within the store, like curbside pickup. He continued to also inform me that this business does not maintain disinfection of high contact areas, including the shopping baskets and carts. Instead, they offer a DIY station with wipes that are more often than not completely dry and therefore no longer able to disinfect. As a pharmacy that may very well have patrons with higher risk factors, including immunocompromised people, this is unacceptable and in violation of the current state and county requirements. When I reminded the employee of these facts, he repeatedly told me to, "Just listen". As someone who is higher risk and who has worked in teaching infection control and safety measures in the past, I don't need to "just listen" to someone make excuses for putting the community at risk while also violating these regulations. There are many other places to patronize that offer the same products and services, and unless this business complies with the safety regulations businesses in this county are required to practice, I would strongly encourage people to find somewhere else to spend their money. read more

Visa Gift Card Issues I purchased a 300.00 Visa gift card on Saturday and when I called the number at the back to activate the card, I was informed the card wasn't activated properly at the store. So mad. Went back to Walgreens and spoke with Louie, the store manager. He called the # on the back of the Visa gift card a few times. He was frustrated at my situation and contacted his manager to let her know the problem. Overall, I got my money back. Louie was very understanding. I left feeling thankful for his help and understanding. I've dealt with Louie before as I'm a regular customer for a few years and he's always been very agreeable and pleasant. read more

This is a solid Walgreens in my opinion. It has its own parking lot which is especially great when you want to avoid the congestion of downtown Palo Alto at the other WAGS location. It is also well lit, well stocked, and the staff are more than helpful and willing to stop what they are doing to accommodate a customer (me). I came looking for a particular make-up brush that was carried at a few select Walgreens. I noticed there was a price discrepancy between online pricing and in store pricing and the older lady who rung me up was willing to honor the online price so she adjusted it for me. Score! I've only shopped at this location once but so far I've had a positive experience and will most likely be a return customer. It has a much better selection and layout than the DTPA store. read more

Expectations when walking into a Walgreens store a generally low, even lower if you live in San Francisco. Coming into this Palo Alto store on Middlefield Rd feels - compared to the ones I'm used to - like walking into a clean and bright oasis. This store is surprisingly well organized, clutter-free (as much as you can say that about a Walgreens), and somewhat spacious. Sure, the employee vs customer ratio (2:20) "could be improved", but thanks to the layout of the store you'll find everything you need probably without asking for help. read more

I'm glad I let this review sit in my draft box for 6 months. Although, that is embarrassing to admit. My original review was 4 stars of pure praise. "Speedy!" "Fantastic!" I shouted with glee as I wrote the original. If only that remained true to this day. Over the months, Walgreens has hit rock bottom. For a drugstore, that means throwing pharmacist terminology, in a verbally abusive way, at me over the phone. I just wanted to know if they had the generic version! Pleasantly asking for clarification, like all polite girls do, was not well-received on that particular sunny day. A new day came, I went in to pick up a prescription because I received a wonderful automated telephone message informing me it was ready. It wasn't. Returned the next day and it was ready! This review is just for the photo center. I had to get some head shots of me for my visa application (going to China later this year, whee!), and so I had a couple of digital pictures developed here. I recommend ordering online at Snapfish.com and then picking up at the Walgreen's for 19c each. If you develop in store, it's 29c each unless you develop over 30 pics. Plus, it is convenient to send them online, and then pick up at your convenience. Pluses: Very fast. I remember ordering some photos and about 10 minutes later I got the e-mail saying my order was available for pickup. Granted, this was an hour or so before closing (10pm), but they are still very very fast. Customer service. I found their customer service to be great. My first digital print turned out a bit too pixelated, so I came back asking for a reprint. I could hear myself getting frustrated/insistent unfortunately, yet the people working there were kind and showed the utmost professionalism. They reprinted the picture for me (which was still pixelated, wtf?) free of charge and offered me suggestions on how to get a better picture. So, despite having to make 3 trips here over the weekend, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of service. Definitely come here to get photographs developed. Also, parking is plentiful in their lot. read more

I came here last Saturday (July 31st) with a prescription label on a medication bottle. Unfortunately, since I get my prescriptions through a mail-order service, Walgreens couldn't fill it without transferring the prescription. The pharmacy tech was helpful in that she copied down all my information, including insurance, and said the pharmacy would call the mail-order service on Monday (the 2nd) and I could come by afterwards to pick it up. Turns out my mom had tried to fill my prescription through the mail-order a few days after I went to Walgreens, and she said the prescription had been transferred over. I was busy for most of this week, so this afternoon was the first chance I got. I arrived, inquired about my prescription -- and was told that it didn't exist. It took about twenty minutes to find the mistake. Apparently the pharmacy had indeed called the mail-order service and transferred the prescription -- BUT HADN'T FILLED IT. The prescription was never input into the Walgreens database. Well, could they just fill it right now? The pharmacy tech called . . . well, I'm not sure who she called, since the mail-order service was closed today. She got off the phone another ten minutes later and told me that they could fill the prescription, but only with the regular dosage of the medications, even though I have special usage notations that the mail-order services have approved for the past three years or so. This was unacceptable to me, so I finally just asked if they could transfer the prescription back to the mail-order service from the limbo it was currently stuck in, and she said they would do it first thing Monday morning. I'll be calling back on Monday afternoon to check. On the plus side, I did manage to score a couple of cardboard boxes from the stock room for moving purposes. With permission, of course. read more

On Saturdays and Sundays, this pharmacy takes a lunch break from 2:00-3:00 PM--this is 30 minutes longer than other Walgreens locations in the area. Not only that, they also refuse to fill prescriptions after 1:30 PM--even when there are no other customers in line, and when other branches have been able to fill it within 20 minutes (during peak hours). Even when desperately informed that I needed the medication, and that wouldn't be able to come back over an hour and a half later, they still refused to fill it (30 before their lunch break). I cannot understand why they wouldn't have another pharmacist on-hand, but I will never trust this location in the future. I wish I could transfer this particular medication to PillPack so that I would never shop at a Walgreens again! read more

It's always hard to write reviews for chain places!!! They have the same cr*p as every other Walgreens. So I am just going to based this on location, and service. Most people love the One Hour Photo place in this location, but honestly are we in the Space Age rather than the Stone Age? Couldn't most people do that at home, it's not rocket science, people! The place is the same with the same collection of unpopular DVD's and CD's. I bet you a million dollars, you will find 'Hope Floats' there. What a horrible movie! Do look before asking them. They kinda don't know what they sell or where it might be. They are not really trained well. The hours are 7 am to 10 pm My Cashier happen to be Michael for the Pharmacy. I got two Healthy for 9.99. Not a good deal, but whatever. They do accept all major insurance plans including CVS Caremark, Blue Cross Blue Shield. If you can't find it in the store, look at walgreens.com Don't join the Prescription Saving Club unless you're serious about it, or you go here a lot. I can't speak to the rest of the store, but the Wphoto service was surprisingly excellent. The website (photo.walgreens.com) was easy to use to upload photos. They give you the choice to pay when you pick up or pay by credit card. The turn-around time was less than an hour. They sent me an email when the photos were ready. When I showed up to get them, the line was short, the prices were fair, the photos looked good, and I was on my way in about 4 minutes. It's midtown location is also convenient, given the other stores, restaurants, and cafe's nearby. read more

I mostly go Walgreens for my meds. They recently offer me a couple days worth of my meds because I didn't have a refill, so I could straighten it out with my doctor. They also called my doctor for the refill which was awesome. They do put prescriptions back after a week, which is totally responsible, and will refill you on the spot. Most of all, you can't for nicer people at there. Quick shout out for the Pharmacy department for always working very hard. read more

This review is specifically about the pharmacy. Some of the issues are related to this store and some to Walgreens back end systems. 1) The layout has zero discretion when the clerk asks you to spell your name and address aloud repeatedly. I'm sure everyone in line knows my name and home address now 2) They also know that I have "a lot of prescriptions" because the clerk was kind enough to call that out, loudly, several times as her colleague was looking for the bags of Rx 3) Each Rx is in its own disposable bottle, in its own disposable bag, with its own, multi-page description sheet. Huge waste. All were ordered together, why not fill them together. 4) Each of these stapled bags may be in one of three shelf locations (repeated alphabetically 3 times) or refrigerated storage in the back of the pharmacy. So it takes forever to find each of the "a lot of prescriptions" 5) Despite being submitted as batches, the automated notifications come out one at a time. "Your prescription is ready" "Your prescription is delayed" "Your prescription is ready" and so on. Why not wait until the whole batch is ready? This is annoying with one or two and a royal pain with more. 6) The doctor puts in an order for 90 days, but they only fill 30. No notification, no explanation. When I call back, they tell me the insurance won't allow 90 days. Well, this might be true. But they have a duty to tell me they are shorting an order. What if I was traveling? 7) In the batch, two aren't filled. Insurance has rejected. I'm 2 and 3 days too early. This is stupid insurance rules. But the pharmacist should tell me that they are not filling the order. Instead I walk out and don't find them when I inventory in private at home. read more

Horrible pharmacy service. PAMF changed its pharmacy to Walgreens in 2017 for cheap bid. I am sent to this walgreens in midtown because the medicine is out of stock at PAMF. The assistant finished bagging of medicine and threw the bag onto the consultation desk where I was waiting. Her coworker and her boss, the pharmacist, all saw this but said nothing so that it must be normal to them. Does anyone behind the counter know your customers are patients?! Where is the professional manner? Then a young man with first name only on name tag to ask me what I need consulting. I asked "are you certified to do consultation?" He says no, he is an assistant only. I requested to talk to the pharmacist at the end. Be aware: an assistant in pharmacy could have only high school diploma with one year or less training to match name of medicine to prescription and count pills. They are not qualified to do consultation because only pharmacists understand drug interactions. To the young man offered help (Kevin): understand your job role, not to misleading any patients to harm anyone 's health. To the pharmacist: get your two assistants better training before disaster happens. Zero star, go to cvs next door. read more

This review is about our unpleasant experience in the following walgreen location because of a very mean store assistant. My wife and I were trying to return 2 bottles of fish oil because we do not want to deal with the rebates which we did not realized when purchased a few days ago. Since we could not find the receipt, we were just requesting for the store credit. One female store assistant who named herself "Jimmy Martini" (she was not wearing a name tag) came over to the counter and tried to handle this return. Then began the unpleasant story. This "Jimmy" seemed to not be in a good mood at the beginning, she insisted on getting the rebate forms back. Well, this is ok. We went back home and brought the 2 rebate forms. However, Jimmy continued to make the return process complicated which we have never encountered in any other stores. Upon seeing the rebate forms, Jimmy remained in her arrogant attitude and tried to refuse the return because we could not provide the original receipts. In order to backup her denial for the return, she read out the store policy "loudly" until she found that the policy stated a return can be in the form of a store credit without a receipt. Well, it seemed this Jimmy can never be wrong. In the end, she told us "Walgreen reserve the right to refuse a refund" and thought we could not return free-after-rebate stuff. I just could not understand how-come returning products becomes so complicated with this store assistant. Another remarkable thing is this "Jimmy" prejudicially thought my wife has returned products back to Walgreen through her before (which she has never done that). Jimmy was also very confident by saying she would "see us again next month". In the end, the return is finally done after this Jimmy left us in the counter for minutes to ask her store manager. I usually do not complaint too much about these kinds of issues. But it is the very bad altitude and the prejudice against customers of this Walgreen shop assistant that make me spend so much time to write this review. Overall, this is a good store with good products and clean layout. However, it is the one particular mean store assistant that makes shopping here so unpleasant. read more
