Draeger's Market is the ultimate local grocery store in the San Francisco Bay Area. Luckily, Mom lives just minutes away from the Menlo Park location, so we easily hop on over whenever we are in search of hard-to-find ingredients or produce. Draeger's in Menlo Park offers free parking in their private lot. Mom and I have never had trouble finding a spot whenever we visit. As you enter the store, patrons are greeted by the beautiful flower section to the left and the delicatessen to the right. The venue is always very clean and tidy. A high-end supermarket known for its meat, produce, cheese, baked goods, plus global & gourmet items, we have always been able to count on Draeger's to find rarities and exotic food items. My family loves their wide variety of cheeses and we also have enjoyed their ready-to-heat, then eat enchiladas. I have also been excited to find boxes of my favourite Divine Delights petits fours from their bakery. Service here is also top notch. Gustavo is awesome and has the best disposition, demonstrating that he enjoys his job and customer care. One night, in December, 2024, he helped us identify and find broccoli rabe...after first kiddingly pointing us to pasilla peppers. We had a great laugh. Since then we continue to giggle with him over the fond memory. Draeger's is definitely one of the best if not THE BEST markets around.

Came here after buying spices from Penzeys on Santa Cruz Ave. it's just a few minutes away. Didn't shop for groceries as I had a sweet tooth that morning, i enjoyed the blueberry danish ($3.95) and a pumpkin cheesecake tart ($7,50) Both were fresh and crave-able. Blueberries in the danish was real :) It was a bit pricey for grab and go bakery sweets, but then again that's expected at Draegers.

Cute, tiny specialty store on the perimeter of this new Menlo Park foodie complex. Fun to browse…read morethe cheese and snacks, and good looking options for fresh pasta, foccacia sandwiches, and antipasto for a quick dinner. Generally expensive, as expected for a specialty import store in this area. However, the gelato and foccacia are both exceptionally good and priced on par with what you'd pay for less delicious versions elsewhere. Foccacia is among the best I've had - pillow light, springy, and well developed flavor. Gelato had a perfect texture - smooth, dense, and creamy - more flavorful than standard ice cream (just as good gelato should be). I got a single cup of half pistachio and half cookies & cream - both flavors were on point. Portion felt generous for $5.99 (compared to other gelatos in the area) and as with the foccacia, the quality here stood out. Given how flavorful gelato is, I found a single to be perfectly satisfying. Foccacia sandwiches looked divine - earmarking to come back and try those when I'm not avoiding deli meat (due to pregnancy). I think there are less expensive places to buy imported cheese, although I did grab a round of tartufo from the cheese case because it was calling to me. The folks working here are helpful and friendly. In short, a tasty place to grab a chic snack or low lift dinner.

The market is closed, but the gelato window is open Fri-Sun noon-6…read more - 4.5: Gianduja gelato: It's too sweet and salty, but great flavor. It's milk chocolate and hazelnut. - 4.3: Pistashio gelato: It's too sweet, and the salt level is very high. But great flavor. They do not skimp on the pistachio. - 4.2: Mint chocolate chip. They use a mint extract, not real mint. But it's good. The chocolate chips are thin shards that melt quickly. - 3.0: Strawberry milk-based gelato: The flavor is weak and somewhat artificial, and the gelato is too sweet. Great smooth texture. It has some tang to it, from either lemon juice or a cultured dairy product. - 3.0: Chocolate gelato: It has a stale, burned, artificial flavor.

I'm not sure why I feel strange writing this review but I wanted to give a shoutout to the Safeway…read moreemployees and also the brand representatives (? I'm not sure of the right title, but the people who don't work for Safeway but work for Lay's and stock the chips, or work for Hershey's and stock the candy, etc, etc). I come in here almost every week in the morning and I've never been warmly greeted by so many people, EVERY SINGLE TIME. I'm sure I'm mostly getting in their way since I am usually shopping while they are refilling the shelves, but they all truly couldn't be any nicer. I'd assume this is a representation of Safeway since they all seem to be so friendly, but also wanted to give a shoutout to all of the different brands since their employees are displaying such awesome customer service.

What you can judge is the quality of service, and that's where this Safeway stood out. The in-store Starbucks, however, was a different story. They managed to mess up multiple coffee orders, which is literally their one job. It shouldn't be that difficult, but somehow it was. What really made the visit worthwhile was the Safeway staff. The employees were great, friendly, helpful, and actually seemed to care. One employee (customer service) in particular went above and beyond, taking the time to help without being asked and making the whole experience much better. The Safeway team deserves credit. This review is really for the employee who stepped up and made a difference.
