How does this place not have a better rating on Yelp? We had an awesome experience. The place was cozy and friendly, almost a fine dining feel without an insane price. We ate for $45 for two and were very pleased. The fish stew was flavorful and not that fishy. The complimentary cinnamon rolls and Hushpuppies were delicious! The seafood platter was plentiful and filet tender and juicy. We loved the slightly cheaper early bird menu. Plenty of parking. Clean and good for families and large groups. My wife and I recommend this place to anyone visiting the Myrtle Beach area. read more

This restaurant is a must for our family each year we travel to the area. It is perfect in every way. Our kids are getting older but look forward to seeing the alligators and turtles in the pond that is overlooked by the huge dining areas. The food never disappoints and has always been perfectly prepared; from the fried oysters to the pesto salmon we love it all. The hushpuppies and cinnamon rolls that come prior to the meal are to write home about, and I look forward to the fish stew that comes prior the entree as well. We've been coming to Chesapeake House for a few years. It's always good food,consistent service and being able to get a reservation is a huge plus. Last night's experience was top notch. Janie was our server and she did not disappoint. Personable, attentive. She hustled but always stopped long enough to chat with us each time she came by our table. Then as we left the hostess and some others at the front started talking to us. She wanted us to buy some homemade mints the office manager makes. We bought 3 boxes of mints, not because we had to have them (they are good). We bought them because of the interaction with the staff. We went out the door talking about what a great evening we had. This restaurant is very different from others as you get to see three alligators. It doesn't matter your age you'll love seeing the 9-10 foot alligator and you'll get fantastic service! If you go early enough you'll be able to order off the early-bird menu which has smaller portions. The early-bird menu has plenty of food and you definitely won't leave hungry!
