12 oz Prime Rib Dinner
Lawrence H.

Got a bowl of Clam Chowder ($11.95) and the 12 oz Prime Rib Dinner ($52.95). Everything was delicious. The soup was a medium to thick consistency with plenty of clams. The Prime Rib was tender and seasoned well. The complementary bread was warm and fluffy. Service was very friendly and attentive. No issues with parking. The dinner comes with a salad, which contains rice noodles. It was easier to eat this salad with chopsticks because of the noodles. Also, the cream corn was really good.

Great food and Great people! I wish I took more photos, but the food was awesome! I got the chili tamale, and it was VERY YUMMY. Comfort food to the max! I'll probably order one next time I come. Mother got the salmon bento, she ate ALL the salmon. She never finishes her meals, so this says a lot! The service was the best. All smiles and good times! Ambiance was cozy, welcoming, and nostalgic to restaurants I've been to in Hawaii! Love the vibes. I'll be back soon, thanks Cherrystones!

I've been coming here for many years and the whole team here is very welcoming and treat all that come in very nice. They play nice relaxing music (oldies) but best of all is their Hawaiian food. I will attach a menu but everything I've had is great but their chili is a must have which is award winning!

Great atmosphere Nice for large parties too Been enjoying an occasional chili buffet night on Fridays Great deal and variety

Meatloaf bento. Very good with somen salad, macaroni salad, broccoli salad, and Takuwan.

Food is delicious at this place. There is such a variety at lunch that a regular entree can be turned into a Bento on most items. I had the Shrimp with lobster sauce bento and it was so delicious. Everything is good you will not regret. Service is fast and the restaurant is nice. Employees are so pleasant. I recommend this place but hours are limited.

I really enjoy this family restaurant, which makes me feel like I'm in Hawaii! This was Prime Rib Friday, so the menu was already great and appetizing. Becausxe this is fish Friday, I enjoyed the fish and chips with all the fixings, including malt vinegar. Probably the most enjoyable is the conversation with the owners, who shared their favorite dining spots in Maui, Oahu and other islands. Diners around us heard our conversation, and added more of their adventures as well!

As close as it is to home, I never got the chance to come through since they're closed on the weekends and they're closed by the time I get out of work. But when WFH finally caught up at my line of employment, and with the ability to flex my time, I thought of stopping by and picking up lunch here one day! Showed Hubbers the menu and told me his choice. Came through about 45 minutes past opening hour and was told they were having a private event. (NOOOOOOOOOO!!!) "... but we are taking takeout orders." Ah, cool then! Put in three orders and waited patiently. Since they were having a private event, I expected the wait to be a bit long, but my goodies were surprisingly ready quicker than I expected. (This on top of previously called in orders, too!) So I was on my way home sooner than I expected. CHILI CHEESE TATER TOTS: Boy, were they generous with this! It's pretty much a meal in itself good enough for two, maybe three people! Loved the crisp on the tots and the amount of chili was commensurate with cheese. This was delish! LOCO MOCO: I was a little disappointed with this. Came with two eggs, I asked them cooked over easy. They were cooked over done. Only came with one patty- I guess I'm used to two from everywhere else I've had this at - and last, it came plain. No sides, just eggs, one patty doused with gravy, and rice. They were generous with the rice, though, I'll give 'em that. The patty was cooked and seasoned well. Just got too honed in about it coming solo... might order an extra next time. CHILI CHEESE BURGER + FRIES: Hubbers liked this set a lot a LOT that his plate was clean by the time he was done! FOOD: 3.5. SERVICE: 4.. Host was very nice and friendly! VALUE: 4. PARKING: Private lot and street. OVERALL: 3.75. It's a really small place - prolly won't fit more than 50 people, so if you have a big party, plan ahead. I was told they serve prime rib on Fridays starting at opening hour (11am) vs. 3pm to 7pm. It's also a fine-in option now (vs. take out only.) Hubbers and I will be checking that out soon! Good first run - will return probably sooner than later.

Food was amazing. Been here before. Family friendly and very clean. Staff was amazing and tended to every thing we needed. Service couldn't be better and the food was superb. Recommended for a prime rib.

Every Friday my friend and I do D&D (dinner and dessert) and we choose restaurants in Gardena cuz we want to support local. After being a lifetime residents of the city we FINALLY came to Cherrystones and we're made we didn't make it sooner. It's a smallish place filled with locals (the servers knew people by name). The Dodger came was on and it felt like we were hanging out at someone's house. Laid-back with attentive service. Their chili is AMAZING no wonder it's award winning. We can't wait to go back!

Mac-potato salad, Hawaiian BBQ chicken, kalbi, fried won tons, and cold noodles salad underneath won tons. 3/1/24
Lilah J.

*This review is based on catered food as a guest of several events.* Cherrystones food is delicious! I recently had a plate of kalbi beef, Hawaiian BBQ chicken, cold noodles salad, Chinese chicken salad, fried won tons, and mac salad. (Yes, I piled all that onto my plate!) The star dish was the kalbi--so flavorful and delicious. My friend and I were amazed at how tasty the mac potato salad was. Perhaps it was the type of mayo used because at other competing Hawaiian places, mac/potato salads kinda have this standard, okay flavor. Cherrystones is set apart from others in some dishes including the kalbi. They have catered large scale events at my church and friends that I have sat with have raved about their food. Later on there were to-go boxes at the buffet table and I was able to pack a box for my hubby. I hear that they have some outstanding award winning chili. Will have to pay a visit to their restaurant at some point and try it. For now 4 stars and may need to update this after an in person visit at their restaurant in Gardena.

The moment you walk in, you're hit with a warm comforting atmosphere. It feels like stepping into a traditional welcoming home. To top off the hospitality, they start you off with a complimentary scoop of mashed potatoes. We ordered gyoza to start, which was perfectly pan-seared with a great crisp on the bottom and a juicy, savory filling. We also got chicken karaage which was golden, light, and incredibly crunchy (do not skip the fresh lemon squeeze! It cuts through the richness beautifully and highlights the seasoning). For entrees, we ordered the Bento box set. It is a massive, visually stunning assortment with tuna sashimi, chicken karaage, grilled mackerel, crisp tempura, earthy root veggies, and rice. It comes paired with a side bowl of their udon. You literally get a little bit of everything We also got the Pork Curry Katsu set: the katsu retains its crunch even under a rich blanket of deeply flavorful curry. It's incredibly filling and comes accompanied by refreshing pickled veggies to cleanse the palette and another hearty side of udon. Between the fast service, generous portions, and flawless execution across both raw and hot dishes, Kotohira is an absolute staple.

*** Credit cards accepted ***…read more Kotohira Restaurant is one of several old school Japanese restaurants in Gardena and the restaurant specializes in Okinawan food (Okinawa soba) and Sanuki udon. The restaurant is located in a fairly busy strip mall with other popular restaurants and drink shops located within the same mall. Renowned food critic Jonathan Gold from the Los Angeles Times wrote an article about this restaurant back in 1992 ( https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1992-07-09-fo-2127-story.html ). [Parking]: The strip mall has a big enough lot and our party had no issue finding an available spot during weekday dinner hours. [Interior]: Old school Japanese mom-and-pop dining vibe. [Menu]: The restaurant offers various combo sets with tempura, bento, udon, and seafood (unagi, salmon, grilled mackerel, etc). Their specialty dishes are Shoyu Udon and Tanuki Udon. *** Tendon Combo (assortment of fried tempura with a semi sweet sauce poured on top of rice $15.95): The fried tempura pieces were not as good as the tempura from Tendon Tempura Carlos Jr. as the combo lacked variety. The miso that came with this combo was really good. *** Overall a mediocre experience with the tempura combo that I ordered, but I sampled the udon and liked it a lot better than the tempura so I would definitely recommend getting their specialty like udon for a better experience.

Appetizers rolled in one by one, not a problem, but one of our main entrees weren't put in. We were told by one server it would take a few minutes, sure again no problem, but after 15 minutes we had to tell another server we were still waiting on another udon dish. Other tables at this point were getting their food, so it's frustrating. Every worker walked by us without checking in, without clearing dirty dishes off our table, without providing any service. And the craziest part? I've already written a bad review about this restaurant's service a year ago and it's now removed. Shame on you Masaaki M. the business owner. The food was good, but not good enough to tolerate such horrible serving staff. 0/10, would NOT recommend to anybody.

Why has no one told me about this gem??…read more As soon as you enter the restaurant, it feels like your grandparents home. I mean that as a compliment, follow my train of thought now. There is so much love, so much heart that is put into the food. Additionally, the amount of food is coma sending. I finished the food and was so ready to take a nap in the warm weather. It's literally like eating grandma's food when youre a young child. The spicy tuna came out first and we were shocked at how delicious the fish was. There wasn't a lot of rice which I appreciated and that fish had a bit of a kick. Pair that with some wasabi shoyu and you're tasting some real goodness. The spam musubi was solid with the furikake. My only gripe was that it had a bit too much rice which could have been better balanced with a thicker slice of spam. Regardless, it was solid. Now the star was the chicken combo. Boy oh boy, that Ladybug Fried Chicken was amazing. The batter had so much flavor and added to the juicy chicken. Pair that with you salad and mac salad.. oh my.. youre tasting a slice of Heaven! Fair warning, there is some grinded celery in the mac salad, so if youre allergic then let them know. Otherwise, that aroma of celery added so much depth to the mac. I can't emphasize enough, there is so much love in the food and the servers take gooooood care of you. It was also amazing to see how much attention to detail the owners put in the restaurant. There is ladybug decor all throughout the place and hand drawn papers from customers. It was really neat to see how much love they receive from their customers.

Since "Hambaga" is very popular in Japan, I was excited to try Akane's version. Unfortunately, I've had better. There was a LOT of filler in the meat which made it taste less like real meat. I know they do this to make the consistency of hamburger meat "soft", but IMO, this really lacked flavor, which could easily be avoided with additional seasonings. The pasta I got in the Combo B was the Clam/Mushroom with Cream Sauce, which also, IMO lacked flavor. Very bland. I saw the "Pasta Carbonara" in the Yelp photos, but unfortunately, they did not have it on the menu any longer. NOTE: There are still plenty of pasta choices to pick from. Also note that any pasta you choose besides the choices noted with the combo meals will have an extra charge according to the pasta you choose. Although the price for a Combo meal is around $40 OTD including tax & tip, it's a bit pricey IMO for hamburger, pasta, salad & a cup of soup. They do, however, give you plenty of food which is more than the normal person can eat in one sitting. We all had a "to go" box with leftovers.
