We don't go here as often as we should. It was a wonderful dining experience and the people could not have been nicer. We walked it without a reservation and were able to be seated almost immediately. We will know better next time to make a reservation. The food was delicious! Thank you for coming by the table to chat Leonard. read more

Huge thank you to Cherrystones catering!!! Westlight celebrated Easter and our 20th Anniversary yesterday with the Kalbi and Island Fried Chicken along with the basics! Their kalbi is so tender and tasty! The chicken was sooo delicious and crunchy. We loved all the sides! The kimchi and mac salad were the favs!!! The pickup was easy and the staff are so nice!!! Will definitely cater from them again! read more

Leonard and company are great. From a catering aspect, food is great and package well. They do things like chicken teriyaki, Korean short ribs and Kalua pig. Their chili is absolutely delicious. We've done parties onsite and the staff isn't huge but they are friendly and attentive. Great party spot for groups of 40-60. I recommend both catering and private parties. read more

So...I have been coming and eating at this restaurant for years, but truly only actually went inside once...lol I happen to play cards at the Hustler and then once I am done and drive by..chicken and ribs are being BBQ'd outside...wow!! But that isn't what truly caught me and made me want to continue to come back every week. The story goes - I did the usual thing and played card then after that I was driving by thought I should be dinner home for the family, right?? So I stop and notice that there are 2 booths so I order my chicken and ribs and walk over to the other booth. The couple that are selling their chili are just so nice and welcoming that I thought I would try their chili....WOW was I in for a surprise. I have not had better....please do yourself a favor and try it. Like I said, I am back every week...but it isn't for the chili (although OMG it is awesome) and it isn't for the prime rib dip...again same OMG flavor, but I go back as the people that work and run this place made me feel like I was welcome...like I had just arrived at my aunt's home and was welcome to come in a eat. Leonard and crew are the best!! I will be back for the food and keep coming back for the welcoming company....each week!! read more

Great food and wonderful service. They make you feel like family. Best chili in the South Bay.

The chile is amazing it's the best chile I've ever had. Staff are also very kind and helpful.

Omg their prime ribs were soooo delicious! Better than most of steak houses. Comes with great sides too! Garlic Noodles was perfectly garlicky and savory. Been looking for Garlic Noodles and it was just on point! And boy the chilli... so meaty and juicy!! I was not big of fan for chilli but this changed my mind. Definitely an Award Winning Taste! read more

Earlier this week, my family hosted a large post-funeral service lunch at Cherrystone's. Many of the guests raved about the great food and service. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to request a "vegan" meal for one of my cousins. Today, I wrote to apologize to her and she replied, "No need to apologize. They completely understood my needs and whipped up a great salad, mixed vegetables, baked potato and some of the items of the buffet were suitable. In fact, more than I needed. I enjoyed it very much." Kudos to the entire Cherrystone's staff who went over and above to make our meal with family and friends a special one!!! read more

Wow! Let me tell you. I went in here for the first time today. I was looking for a place that allows for private parties and discovered a lot more. The staff was incredibly welcoming and warm. I had mentioned that I was interested in renting the space but also wanted to place an order. Audrey explained the menu and rates with me, and I was provided a tour of the establishment. Audrey made several recommendations as to what the most popular dishes are when they host an event. She I closed a sample of their award winning chili with my order(which was fanatic). Above and beyond! The chili is award winning for a reason and the food I got(teriyaki beef and bacon fried rice) were great. They give you THREE different salads with your plate. You wont leave hungry. I am looking forward to having my father's bday here, and also becoming a regular. Thank you read more

Mother's Day Prime Rib Dinner! Juicy 12 oz Prime Rib came with all the sides: somen salad, a huge baked potato (w/ sour cream&chives and butter in their individual containers) hearty cream corn soup, au jus & horse radish and also a pleasant surprise, homemade bread pudding dessert as well! (They will ask you how you want your Prime Rib done, Rare or Med-Rare, etc) Jamie was very pleasant when taking the phone order and when picking up, Audrey was warm & appreciative for our order. Might I also add that the attention to detail with packaging the food for Take Out was Spot On, not one drop spilled on the drive home! Thank You Cherrystones for a beautiful Mother's Day Meal! How did I not know about this hidden gem?! I am a local and always pass by,but finally stopped one Sunday and tried their famous chili, chili tamale and chili hot dog and rice. It was all amazing and since then I have tried their chicken and Hawaiian salad. Their Hawaiian salad is now my favorite salad and is so refreshing. So if you haven't been to Cherrystone's, go try it out! It won't disappoint. It's not just the food that's great, the customer service is on point! Friendly owners and workers. read more

So many things to love about about Cherrystones (the prime rib nights, the creamed corn, the somen salad, the bread pudding, the homey decor, the friendly owners, etc.) but for the sake of this review I'm going to zero on one item in particular: the AWARD-WINNING CHILI. It's just so damn good, and I'm not even a "big chili guy." First off, there's no beans, just high quality beef. Fantastic. The spice level and viscosity is perfect. Eat it with short grain white rice and shredded sharp cheddar and diced white onion and you will be transported to the promised land. I've converted many skeptics who shrugged their shoulders when I started raving about chili. The fact that they operate a dedicated CHILI TENT in their parking lot on Sundays should tell you all you need to know. Keep crushing those chili competitions gang! Gardena Fire Department should stick to their day jobs lol read more

Several years ago, I arranged to have my wife's birthday party at Cherrystones. We had the entire restaurant to ourselves and easily accommodated our 50 guests. The food and service was top notch! It was such a memorable night. Last month, we needed to have an event catered. Leonard, his wife, and his team are the best. They helped us decide what would be best to order, delivered and set up the food, provided all the utensils, plates, napkins, take home boxes, etc. As always, the food was so ono and everyone loved it! Their catering prices are extremely fair. Leonard exemplifies what the Aloha Spirit is meant to be. He treats everyone as Ohana and that is something you don't find often on the mainland. I love their prime rib and chilli. I mainly come here for that. But everything I've the menu is pretty good.

All foods was excellent . Hawaiian somen noodles salad, Chinese chicken salad is delicious . Teriyaki beef is good and pulled pork looks good. Didn't like the potatoes and macaroni salad combinations. I need to return to the restaurant at another time and try something else, reading the menu on table that's was smart. read more

We came by for dine-in and were pleasantly surprised by our lunch at Cherrystones. We tried the 8-hour spaghetti with meatballs and thought it was pretty fantastic. I also tried the chicken katsu, which was nice and crispy, made of breast meat and not too oily. The chicken came with a corn chowder side dish that was creamy and unexpectedly good. We also enjoyed the somen noodle salad and its sweet and savory dressing. Service was outstanding and they have free parking and take credit cards. We'll be back! read more

Hi Hi I had there phenomenal prime rib dinner, and it was out of this world to my taste buds. Everyone has their own favorites, but this one was really great and my estimation. This is a really good restaurant. My bad luck was to get food poisoning yesterday. Please tell me that this was an exception.

Junk your Hours! How you gonna have almost famous award winning chili , if you almost never open! I give the business 3 stars and your almost famous award winning chili 5 stars. The chili is Ono and I'm just grumpy cause I drove all the way from the OC to eat the chili again, and your closed! That's what happens when you get da craving, your willing to drive far to taste the chili again! So yah Junk your hours! I really don't know why your hours are the way they are but I now know the hours now. I'll be in soon to have a Onolicious bowl of chili than change the stars to 5 stars. You only get 3 stars cause of the drive time/traffic = grumpy! Aloha for now. read more

For my 100th South Bay review, I wanted to share a decent place that I would return to. I've dropped by here a few times for drinks, but I finally tried the food. Cherrystones serves Hawaiian kine food, and specializes in its Award winning chili. In addition, it has unique items like a meatloaf loco moco. Cherrystone is located on Vermont near Redondo Beach Blvd in Gardena. I ordered the salmon teriyaki bento ($12.75 includes rice, potato mac salad, broccoli and somen salad). First of all, everything in the bento was average. The salmon was good, but the portion was just adequate. Secondarily, the potato mac salad could have used more pepper, and didn't taste like it was made with Hellmans. Lastly, the somen salad did not have that much somen, and had too many fried won tons: 3 Stars. Regarding the ambiance, its old skool in here and the clientele are indicative of that. There is a small bar to your left and some booths with beige colored vinyl to your right: 3 Stars. On the other hand, the service is super nice. The ladies are very friendly and attentive: 4 Stars. I think Cherrystones is better for family get togethers, or for their chili. There is better Hawaiian food in the area (inc more options), at Bob's, Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop, Down Home in La Haina, and Island Eats. I'll come back when I am not so health conscious and try some real food. read more

Yelp Challenge 365 # 185/365 Talk about home away from home! I am visiting the city of Torrance and looking for a place to eat I head to Cherrystones. They had a private party..... oh oh! But! They welcomed me with open arms and offered to let me join them. Food at its best, fellowship at its best. And, I didn't feel like a party crasher. I learned something about Cherrystone's and its owner and that is every year (for the past 23 years) they sponsor a golf tournament for a group known as Pioneers of Gardena (I think that's what they were named). In any case, it's a charity for senior citizens where the proceeds are used to take the seniors by the bus loads to Lawry's Steak and Prime Rib. All paid for by the Pioneer Foundation. And thanks to Cherrystones, the Pioneers are able to raise the money to provide a social out for the seniors of their community. For myself, I've grown fond of this restaurant which started with 1) good food, 2) good fellowship (you feel like a member of the Cherrystone family), 3) and, its priced to accommodate all budgets! They are open for lunch and for dinner. I think everyday? Oh, parking is plentiful there! and that my friends to those who know me understand that easy and ample parking is a plus for me. Oh, they cater too! read more

I've been a long time patron of Cherrystones, but after my most recent visit, I don't think I'll be returning. There is absolutely no excuse for the service we received. During my most recent visit, half of the restaurant was dedicated to a private party and it looked like they had only two, maybe three, wait staff for the entire restaurant. 1. Two people in our party ordered the braised ribs dinner. A second waitress approached our table apologizing that they had sold out the night before. 10 minutes later we look over at the neighboring table and notice a person in their party eating the braised ribs (They seemed to be friends of the owner)!! 2. Since two people had to make new dinner choices, one decided on the prime rib because our waitress specifically recommended it. She raved about how great it was. He ordered it medium rare and it came out bloody, luke warm and full of connective tissue. 3. We were in the middle of our meal when our waitress came over with a plate full of Kogi tacos. As she was placing them on the table, she said, "These are from Leonard (the owner)." Everyone at the table was in mid-sentence saying how nice it was when Leonard shouted over to our waitress and said, "Not that table, the other one," meaning the table NEXT to us (the same party with braised ribs). She picks up the plate, apologizes, and turns to the table next to us. What the heck just happened??? 4. About 10 minutes after the first two incidents, our waitress returns with a bowl of japchae (Korean noodles). Uh, is this a complimentary pity dish? No thanks! Of course everyone at the table was VERY turned off and didn't bother to eat it. After eating an appetizer of chili fries and garlic bread, everyone was just about finished with their main dish when our waitress comes out with a plate of Kogi tacos. Seriously?? It's a little late to be backpedaling. 5. All the restaurant help was busy with the private party and we just wanted to get out of there. We were sitting next to the cashier and tried to hand over a credit card to our waitress when she finally showed up. In a very rude tone, she barks at us asking where the check was. No one ever brought us the check!!! She finds the bill to show us, and it didn't even have a total! UGH!!! We paid the bill and will never return. read more

I really like the food and the people that work here BUT it could work better for phone orders. I called today (on Friday) and was told they had a big party in the restaurant and if I could call back in 45 minutes. I patiently waited and called back, when I called back I was told that they can't help this evening. They had a large party of guest in the restaurant that had not ordered yet. I am very disappointed that the management cant manage the kitchen better, I guess I'll put this restaurant on the bottom of my list. So sad- cause it had potential. read more

I don't like the food here. Everything is very greasy and sloppy, and overall gives off a low quality vibe. I've had catering and party buffet on a number of occasion, so I know my collective experience is not based on a single unlucky exception. Let's start with the chili. Their award winning chili. Or at least it says so on the sign out front. Really salty with a suspiciously creamy consistency that doesn't sit too well in my stomach. I made the mistake of taking some leftovers and it had solidified to the point that I couldn't get it out of the container the next morning. Before I forget, just want to point out that the staff are super friendly people. This is a review of the restaurant, not of the employees. Their BBQ beef ribs are all fat. It was like BBQ flavored rubber. I would have been happier with microwaved beef jerky. They serve some really strange pasta which was basically plain spaghetti noodles with salt on top. ?????? Fried chicken was chewy and tough. I didn't know "kimchi" was a common Hawaiian food, but they serve it with every single catering package I've ever seen. Kimchi is in quotes because it was pretty bad, almost to the point of being insulting to actual kimchi. Tastes like the kind you can buy in a large bucket, but then somebody rinsed it off a bit in salt water. The parking lot is small, but there's plenty of street parking. It doesn't matter though because I never want to go back. read more

Hawaiian food at it's best! A combo of Japanese and Korean with a mix of Hawaiian fusion. This is a local hangout for the South bay locals. The owner Lenard makes some great food and does excellent catering too. I been coming here ever since they opened. Cherry stones is located behind the Hustler Casino on 155th next to the Moose Lodge. Awesome award winning Chili! Noting beats their chili over rice. I haven't ordered anything I didn't love. Try the Prime Rib, steak sandwich, bento boxes or salmon garlic noodles. Also they have the Kogi Tacos ( Korean beef with kimchee). The parking is a bit tight so you may have to park on the street. Once inside it feels like a place where every body knows your name. The local businessman, mom and dad, to the Police Chief all show up to eat great food. The regulars always want to sit in their particular seat and they will wait at the bar til their seat is open up. read more

Knowing the owner sort of makes my review a bit biased, but I will try and be fair and honest. To begin with the staff at Cherrystones are really nice and accommodating. The atmosphere is comfortable and not fancy. The afternoon crowd is much more different than the evening crowd. Karaoke is the big deal in the evening, and since I can't sing I only go during lunch time. When Leonard caters to different events, mostly funerals, the food is plentiful and very tasty and enjoyable. However, the sit down and in the restaurant, the food is much different. For one, a number of menu items are not on his funeral menu, and I would prefer the reception food much more. I did enjoy the bento box because it was different and filling. Fortunately, the people I know enjoy going to Cherrystones, therefore I will undoubtedly go again. read more

Cherrystone has some delicious food! There's 2 things though that wow me every time! You have to try the sea bass and also their chili! Both are amazing!!! Cherrystones is also a great place to throw a family party. My family has celebrated graduations, birthdays and anniversaries here. All you have to do is schedule the date with them. They close the whole restaurant so you can have your party. They also have a full bar which is always nice. If you're in the area, definitely try it out. They also cater many events so if you need a caterer, they deliver throughout the LA area. read more

A great restaurant with lots of parking. Well, the parking lot is small, but there's lots of street parking. My husband and I wanted to try a new place this evening. I've had there food before, (they cater lots of weddings and funerals I've been to). Never been at the actual restaurant before. We ordered their award winning chili with rice, meatloaf loco moco, poke and French fries appetizer. The chili rice is meaty. No beans in it. Very flavorful and not spicy at all. The meatloaf loco moco (meat loaf over a bed of rice, topped with 2 fried eggs and covered in gravy, was good and hearty. The shoyu poke was fresh and had a little kick to it and the fries were nice and crunchy and tasted really good with the chili. When visiting, I recommend the chili. You won't be disappointed. BTW, Cherrystones is known for their catering. Really inexpensive good food for a reasonable price. read more

Finally nabbed one of their famous prime rib meals during COVID. They've been offering meal sets throughout the year, but I always seem to miss it or they run out! So you know it's gotta be THAT GOOD. And it sure was! I started to follow them on social media to get up to date notifications on their meal sets. Their New Year's Day special included 10oz prime rib and au jus, cup of famous chili, baked potato w toppings, cream corn, and bread pudding. Everything was neatly separated into cups and containers then bagged. I love when restaurants separate meals into individual bags because I deliver food to my grandparents so I don't have to touch all of the containers or worry that I forgot to give them all of their sides. Everything at Cherrystones is so easy! You can preorder by phone and pay in advance or at the door. This was well worth the wait and I can't wait to order from them again. read more
