So my favorite gluten free bakery in the city, Cake Rack, closed in April! Since then, Cherbourg has moved in just across the street and again a bakery has changed my life. I'm gluten free, although the bakery features all nut free items as well, it is an amazing feeling to walk in to a store, and be able to eat all the delicious goodies inside! Joel and I Walked to Findlay Market from home on a cold Sunday morning. 4 miles deserved a good breakfast. Stopped at Cherbourg to have a hearty breakfast and coffee. It was so delicious. All of the usual sweets are available here, including the s'mores bars, lemon bars, blueberry muffins and donuts. Quiches, strada and the delicious shakshuka with tomato and peppers topped with a scrambled egg, cheese and eggs (served in a scalding hot skillet) are great breakfast options. This place is perfect for stopping in before or after your Findlay Market shopping. The coffee is great and whether you eat in or take it to go, it is tasty and can be made just how you like it. All the baked goods are delicious and the brownie was my favorite, although my mother couldn't stop eating their doughnut holes. Whether you are gluten-free or not, there is something for everyone. Oh my gosh. Everything I sampled here was amazing!! A person eating gluten wouldn't even know that everything is gluten free! There aren't a lot of gluten free options around this area so very happy to have found this little gem. Wow. This was soooo good! We had the smore bar, the apple pie bar, and lemon square. All 3 were so good. The lemon square was so good! Perfect strong flavor, melt in your mouth. Parking can be a pain if you go on the weekend, which is when I have typically gone. Most of the reviews seem to be raving because they are able to finally eat anything on the menu but seeing Cincinnati has minimal choices for gluten free bakeries I feel the reviews are skewed. The baked goods are hit and miss, some better than others but it seems to vary day to day. I have found a lot of items to be dry and fall apart very easily. Taste wise most the time it is okay, it satisfies your craving but doesn't leave you wanting more. I have had many gluten free bakeries but this one is mediocre over all but seeing the lack gluten free choices in Cincinnati, beggars can't be choosers. read more

This place is gluten-free heaven! We could pick any of the pastries and they are all gluten-free! And they taste better than regular gluten versions. We loved everything we tried, but my favorite is the lemon bar, and the chocolate and cinnamon donuts are awesome, too! The owner was super nice, too. Seeing that my daughter was so surprised everything was gluten free, she explained what every pastry was so my daughter could pick. Lovely food and lovely service! We stumbled into Cherbourg Bakery during their soft opening. Lucky for us, they had trays of samples so I got to taste practically everything in the store. I would have never guessed it was gluten free. The pastries were light and flavorful and pretty, even the donuts! We had an apple strudel pastry, lemon bar, muffins - it was all good! They serve nice size portions at reasonable prices. The dining room is light and airy and inviting. Findlay Market needed a nice bakery that you can sit down and have a cup of coffee. Once I found this place online I was so excited to check this out. I have Celiac disease and recently moved from a large city so have been nervous about how limited my options would be in Cincinnati. Cherbourg is amazing for any gluten free person. Hardest thing was choosing what to try. I tried the cinnamon sugar donut, lemon square, and cheesecake muffin (not all at once). Cinnamon sugar donut is baked, not fried, but is still really delicious and light. If you ever get a chance to find a donut shop that has a dedicated fryer (they exist!), it's a different kind of indulgence that I wished they did. Lemon square was my favorite. Refreshing and delicious. Cheesecake muffin was also really good. I can't wait to go back and try other things. It's also in a great spot right across from Findlay Market so walkable from OTR and downtown. read more

To preface, Cherbourg has some amazing options all of which are a good choice, but only two or three items are savory while the rest are doughnuts, lemon squares, etc. My main complaint about Cherbourg is their inability to time the baking of their products and inconsistent supply vs. demand. Every time I have been in the bakery it always has an excess of doughnuts, however, they are never able to produce enough of their savory options(quiche, strata, etc.). A particular sticking point was when we arrived and there was no quiche available(it's popular that's understandable), upon asking if they would have any ready they stated in 15 minutes which was perfect considering we wanted to shop at Findlay market. Returning 20 mins later, they stated it would be another 10 minutes, so we decided to wait. After about 20 minutes of waiting, another woman asked if they had any quiche prepared to which the employee stated it would be another 25 minutes to which we decided to leave. I think a reevaluation of demand for their products may be in order and they would perfect! read more

My wife and I were in town for a concert and so happy to find this bakery the next morning. I went to pickup doughnuts and coffee for everyone and the food was absolutely delicious. If you're searching for gluten free, then your options are typically pretty limited, but it's liberating to walk into a place and have the ability to order anything you see. Leslie helped walk me through the various baked goods and pastries, and she was so welcoming and accommodating. This shop is passionate about what they do and very educated on every ingredient that goes into their creations. I would highly recommend a visit if you are in need of some high-quality treats. The drip coffee was also very tasty. They have quiche and some other savory bites if you want something that's not sweet (but you need to eat as many of the chocolate doughnuts as you can... for real).
