Worth going 3 miles off the highway for! Shrimp was off tha chain. A little pricey for the location and being that it is a "shack" but everything was fresh and made to order. Very poor service. The owners are very rude and this rubs off on the wait staff. The food is not terrible but not great. The service is not worth the time. There are several great seafood places in Monroe/West Monroe area that respect the customers. This is just not it. read more

Located off exit 108 it's a diner that's a little ways out of town. It's an older building with a parking lot that could use some work. Food is just average and the prices are a bit high for what you get in my opinion. We eat here occasionally just because it's close to our home and it's better than fast food. You always find the best food by accident... Took a wrong turn going out of West Monroe trying to get away from the chain resturants and chicken... Food was great, had the blackened cat with the blackened shrimp,(hot and spicy cajun) I loved it, Also had the fried crawl fish tails, I only got a couple (kids devoured them) but the few I did get were great, I thought the prices were ok, of course we did just come from visiting the south gulf of Florida, (if you have seen their prices). Seems like some of the negative reviews on here were from other locals.. locals reviews on here are always worthless and seem to have a personal vendetta against the resturant/owner/staff... While I couldn't tell you if the owners were there, the wait staff were good, courteous, and professional... Quick to be seated, quick to get our drinks, and everyone's food came out nice and hot, (they also cook the kids food first because it came out just right, didn't have to wait for it to cool down to eat...(I've noticed lots of places seem to cook the kids meals last, bring them out burning hot while the adults meals have started to get cold.. ) All in all, this is a great place, and will be saved on my very short list of resturants that I will visit again. Excellent locally owned business that feels like home. Robin and Terry are some of the finest people you will meet. This is a local place that will give you great food and great customer service. They won't be your punching bag if you are looking for a place to show your behind and I respect that. Gumbo, Shrimp and Crawfish are awesome. Deserts are excellent! Louisiana seafood used NOT Chinese. These people also give back to the community but never announce, brag or seek recognition for it. They do it because that is who they are. I've eaten here several times over the years, as it is right by my house. Otherwise I would probably never go there. The place never seems completely clean and their food is subpar on a good day - very "packaged" Louisiana fare, not really authentic. But the worst part is their customer service. I could stomach eating there once in a while if the owners weren't so rude. They treat their staff horribly and it is embarrassing for everyone to see them yell at and berate the servers in front of the guests. They don't care about the customers either, though - they are rude to them as well. Do not come here expecting southern hospitality. read more

Just bad.. the Owner just needs to give it up. She wasn't rude but definately acted as if she was just plain tired of it all. The waitress was clueless. She in fact acted like she was ill. My wife is a nurse and debunked my laziness theory for perhaps sickness. We actually felt sorry for her. We came in on a Saturday at about 2. The sign outside says "Oyster Bar" so I asked if they were fresh.. She said "I think so" so I asked her to check. She came back and said "yes" so I ordered a dozen raw. They arrived with three crackers and a small paper thing of cocktail sauce. I asked her if they had horseradish and she had to go ask. The oysters were not fresh and tasted as if they had been soaking in brine for weeks. I was only able to eat two before I gave up. I ordered the "New Shrimp Burger" and it tasted like a salmon patty that you would make out of a can. OK if you like canned salmon patties made with canned salmon.My wife ordered a chef salad and it was what its spose to be I guess. read more

We took a chance and stopped here while on a road trip out West. Ordered the seafood platter...fried shrimp, oysters, catfish and crab. Hush puppies too. All fresh and cooked perfectly. it's official, no one north of I-10 knows how to properly boil crawfish... pro tip- you add the seasoning to the WATER you don't Sprinkle it on top AFTER its boiled!!! yes your profit margin will be less but goddam! at least the crawfish will be seasoned properly... bought 5 lbs and not one dam tail managed to slide out of the shell, this means it was under cooked. it's so easy, dump all the seasoning in the water, bring to a rapid boil, put the crawfish in, bring it back to a boil, wait three minutes, shut off the gas, let it sit for 3 minutes, results??? PERFECTLY BOILED crawfish! read more

Stopped in on drive west on I-20 at an off time in mid afternoon. We were welcomed and first ordered a local beer, fried banana pickles and soft shell crab appetizer. All were delicious. For main course ordered an oyster PO boy and oyster platter. They give you a choice of meal/flour or meal only preparation as well as whether you want them soft or crispy. Absolutely delicious and a lot of food. Well prepared and fresh, fresh! Amazing find off the beaten track of I-20 in West Monroe, LA. Their cakes and pies looked delicious but way too full to try them. read more

Service slow-waited 1 1/2 hours, steak tasted like my fish entree.

I have loved cheniere shack for years, until recently. My husband and I have done our date nights here to have their steaks. The last four times we went, steaks are not as good as they once where. They are using cheaper cut meats but cost is the same. Also, they used to have 3 or 4 awesome waiters and waitress. Not anymore. I have heard that owners are mean to their staff. That is probably why they can't keep good help. We will not be eating there anymore. read more

Being a local whose eaten at Cheniere Shack many times, we have had both good and bad experiences there and the food is usually good. Our latest experience there will likely be our last one. After being seated in an area where there was so much noise, you could not even hear the waitress after she leaned over the table and raised her voice, we politely asked to be reseated in an area that would be a little less noisy. The waitress tried to accommodate but management advised that other areas would be taken shortly and there was no other place to seat us. read more

Went there this weekend for an enjoyable evening out. The parking lot was so full, we had to park behind the building. After entering the building, it was a surprise to see how many empty tables there were. Not sure what was going on but the noise in the area we were seated was intolerable. When we asked to be reseated, we were informed that the other side was reserved and unavailable so we left to find another place to enjoy the rest of our evening.
