Aiko I.

Started working around the University X Dundas area, I learned that it is a bit challenging to find quality & quick take-out place during busy work hours. Also, it should be walking distance, as finding a parking is not easy. Even if there is a well reputed take-out place nearby, I should expect a long lineup. So, when I found this Chefs Hall option, I was excited. It is 12 mins walk, and I can pre-order for pick up. This place had variety of food options, and I found "Osteria Scossa" - a place that serves fresh pasta dishes. Pasta is easy to take out, easy to eat. Perfect for me! Pre-ordered "Spaghetti Pomodoro"and it was ready exactly when I arrived by walk. The spaghetti was thicker in diameter than regular Spaghetti. I enjoyed the interaction of the spaghetti and the tomato sauce. If the noodle were thinner, I could have gotten lost about what I was enjoying - as the sauce was very distinctly rich/flavourful, it could easily overpower the thinner spaghetti. BUt with this thicker noodle, I was able to enjoy the characters of the both. Cheese was good quality but not overwhelming, just right amount to highlight the main characters (pasta and sauce) behind the scene. So was the fresh basil leaves. It came with a small piece of sourdough bread. Thank you. I wiped the sauce with it and ate at the end of the meal. I do not care about the manner! The sauce was too good not to do this. After eating, I hoped, may be next time I want to eat-in so I can eat their pasta more "hot & fresh". I want to explore Chefs Hall itself more for a short lunch break luxury. Yey!

We got lucky and stumbled on this gem near Eaton center... one source (google? Yelp?) said it was closed but as we walked by people were going in so we joined them. Cool funky vibe inside- a bit Chelsea Market- AMAZING food choices!! We will definitely go back next time we are I. TO!

Chefs Hall is a nicer food court of sorts with 14 different restaurant options for lunch or dinner.,You walk around and decide what you want and they have tables to eat at plus a bar, big screen TVs and they play good (loud) music. I tried the Indian, Greek and Mexican and plan to go back for the Italian before I leave town. They also have sushi, fried chicken, pizza, and a few other options! Much better prices than the pricey hotels in the area. I'm staying at the Sheraton right across the street so it has been super convenient! Only subtracted one star because the dessert options are very limited with only one place with sweets and the coffee bar closes too early!! Otherwise, I'm a fan. It's a great place to meet up and everyone can get what they want but you can all eat together.

The Charcoal Biryani gets a five - the chicken shawarma parotta was spectacular and it comes with fries and a drink. The samosas were delicious too / crisp and flavorful. I got the black garlic ramen and it was good but not five stars, hence I give the overall experience a slight downgrade. BUT we loved the ambience and selection and will most definitely return if we find ourselves in Toronto again!!!

Food 3.5/5 Service 4/5 Ambiance 3/5 I think I've been spoiled for other food halls since going to The Well's food hall. I wasn't wowed by this place. For someone who is claustrophobic like me the space felt cramped. Ceilings were low & the dark woods for decor made it feel dark & enclosed as well. It only opens up a bit when you get towards the back where there are windows & doors to the outdoor patio. Food: Pokito: I ordered the 420 bowl without edamame. It was okay, pretty ordinary for the price which was over $20. The guy assembling the food was nice & friendly. He made my order pretty quickly considering there were several orders before mine to prepare. The Red Eye: I ordered the banquet burger with fries. The fries tasted good when they were hot. There's some sort of seasoning on it that's different than other burger & fries places. But once the fries got cold they were hard & didn't taste as great. The burger was okay. Again pretty ordinary according to my tastebuds. I've had better burgers & fries elsewhere. Oswald's Pizza: Hubby got pepperoni pizza with a salad. He said it was really good & he enjoyed it. He didn't end up eating the salad as he got too full. He said their service was great. Grandma loves you: Hubby got a hot dog. He asked for only a little mustard but they put a lot on it. He said the hot dog was okay. They were busy but their service was good too. Mary's Brigadeiros: Dessert was 4 different flavours of their cookies: Pistachio, Caramel, chocolate chip & double chocolate. All the flavours were good. We especially liked the pistachio because the flavour combo was unexpected. Pistachio & the filling inside (I can't identify it) was so delicious. The caramel was so smooth & if my tastebuds aren't mistaken there was condensed milk in it. The double chocolate had some white bits in it that I think were marshmallow. Their service was great. Washrooms were okay. They were clean-ish. Not immaculate as there was pieces of toilet paper on the floor. But it also wasn't dirty. There were 2 out of order stalls in the ladies washroom. I confess to not counting how many stalls there were. I think there was 8 stalls. Hubby says the men's washroom was clean but that the stalls are small. There were 5 urinals according to hubby & 5 stalls. It was an okay visit to come to chef's hall. Food-wise nothing really blew my mind. We don't live or work nearby so it was a trek for us to come here. So far, I prefer The Well's food hall. The next food hall we're going to visit is Waterworks. If their videos are any indication, it looks like a nice open space. We shall see what we think of their food offerings!

They are self serve. I ordered the tempura shrimp. It is really good! Highly recommend. My friend ordered Garlic Ramen and also said it is good! And the price is also nice. Will definitely revisit and recommended!

I'd describe Chefs Hall as a high end food court in downtown Toronto. I met up with a friend here for an early lunch and it was quite empty. There were plenty of food options, ranging from ramen to Italian to burgers, etc. I went to Tecolote, a Mexican spot and ordered a chicken enchilada. I found the portion of the meal a little bit small and a little bit pricey for what it was, but it wasn't bad. I believe the main draw of Chefs Hall is the ambiance. I could see how it would be a place that would be packed during regular lunch hours. There's a patio on one side of it as well, which would be perfect on a hot summer day.

I have been to multiple events at Chef's Hall and have enjoyed all of them. It offers great variety of food stations from drinks, coffee, Indian Cuisine, Chineses Cuisine, Mexican Cuisine, Pizza, Bubble Tea, Fried Chicken, Poke, Grandma Loves You Sandwiches, etc. There's plenty of space between the food stations and on the patio to sit down and enjoy your food or have events that even include dancing. Finding parking is a bit tricky though. Well, isn't that the case in Downtown? Lol If you're lucky, you can find street parking, if not, you need to use underground parking which is expensive. Best option is taking TTC there if you can.

Chefs Hall used to be called Assembly Chef's Hall. I had heard great things about coming to this hall with lots of food stalls to choose food and drinks from. I dig Upper East Food Club and The Annex. Give me quality eateries where I can get a drink from one and a sandwich from another, and I am a happy camper. * start of aside * What confuses me here is the name change. You still see welcome mats in this hall that say Assembly. Yet, the word, Assembly, has formally disappeared in the name, along with the apostrophe. My confusion is the change from having the apostrophe removed from the name. Why? Perhaps it was misleading that it was a hall that belonged to a specific chef? It's kind of the same debate with farmers' market versus farmers market. With the former, multiple farmers run each market, so a plural possessive noun makes sense. Chefs' hall. Do multiple chefs run each hall? I don't know. With the latter, farmers market implies that markets may be supplied by multiple farmers, but they are not necessarily owned by those farmers. Chefs Hall. Chefs may not own the hall. Do they? I don't know, either. Conclusion: The name of this hall needs help. I'd call it Hall of Yumminess. * end of aside * I live under a rock. For years, when I am attending a concert or some event at Scotiabank Arena, or I'm in the vicinity as a tourist, I park at Richmond Adelaide Centre. I didn't realize that I was always a three-minute walk away from Chefs Hall. It's probably because I'm never hungry going to Scotiabank Arena. After the event is over, I want to walk back to fetch my car and head home. It was straightforward walking over to Chefs Hall from this parking lot. There were signs that guided me over. Chefs Hall is divided into three halls: - Beer Hall (it's closest to Adelaide, with a bar and a stage) - Vendor Hall (it's where all the food stalls are) - Main Hall (there's a larger bar and a patio area) I liked how I felt walking through the Beer Hall. It was cozy with plants everywhere. There were lots of places to sit down, have a drink, and eat either with a group or by yourself. I needed the woman's washroom when I got here. I found it almost immediately when I walked up the stairs to the Vendor Hall. I was thrilled. It was clean and nicely maintained. There are steps up to all food stalls. As far as accessibility goes, there are a couple of accessibility lifts in the Beer Hall and Main Hall. They look like cubes. I have been here for an event in the Main Hall. If you have an event, you can rent a hall. It gets blocked off, so others will know that they can't crash your event. This hall was roomy and fabulous. I have also dropped by Oswald's Pizza to grab some Detroit-style pizza. I loved my food. When I was there, I got a glimpse of these food vendors: - Oswald's Pizza - Grandma Loves You - Charcoal Biriyani - Hawaiian Poke Bar - The Red Eye Should I be downtown for a concert and haven't eaten, I'd come here to grab a bite beforehand. Chefs Hall is open Mondays and Tuesdays from 11 am till 9 pm. Wednesdays through Saturdays, hours are from 11 am till 10 pm. It's closed on Sundays. There is free wifi. What was weird was that it prompted for my e-mail address and birthdate, including year of birth. No free wifi needs that personal information to connect, so I declined using it. I look forward to returning to try other food stalls. It's a cool place and concept. (163)

The ramen spot was great

This place is pretty rad. I found it on Yelp after looking for coffee shops in the area to work from with a few coworkers. Lost Coffee was what popped up and when I realized it was attached to this hall, I was overjoyed. I'm a sucker for a good market or food hall and love to explore them when I travel, so this was perfect. After working inside Lost Coffee for a few hours, my small group needed lunch. We strolled around and at the time they had everything from sushi, ramen, and tacos to burgers, pasta, and baked goods. All three of us went with ramen (another thing I like to try while traveling). We found seats outside on their giant patio. This place is honestly huge. I'll definitely be back the next time I find myself in Toronto!

Italian Night at Osteria scossa in Chefs Hall, a fancy food court with multiple food vendors in downtown. We went on Thursday night and there was a difference between day and night. There was live music, creating a vibrant atmosphere, perfect for relaxing after work. We loved the Rigatoni Ragu and Gnocchi. Nothing can beat freshly made pasta. It was soft and chewy. Both of them tasted so good and complemented perfectly by the sauce. The Italian Salumi board with three types of salumi was also a perfect starter.

Gyu Tendon, 2 prawn and veg tempura & beef

Prawn tempura & zucchini, eggplant, lotus root, tempura were lightly battered & marinated beef was nicely seasoned over rice. Miso soup was nice a balance. $21 was reasonable for lunch

We occupied the ninth floor. I loved the location. I'd take the GO train from Markham down to Union Station, and take the PATH briefly to Brookfield Place. There are a bunch of elevators that don't all go up to the same floors. You need to find the floor interval that suits where you want to go. If you are a visitor, Brookfield Place is beautiful. I remember taking a couple of Swedish colleagues to a Toronto Maple Leafs game and we passed by my old workplace. The Hockey Hall of Fame is located in Brookfield Place. I suggested that they go, as they were huge hockey fans like I am. They went the following day and absolutely loved it. My love for Starbucks is due to working at Brookfield Place. I'd drop downstairs to get a drink and take a breather. It's convenient to do a bit of shopping or grab a bite to eat. There's a food court where there are many fast food eateries. I'm sure they have changed since I was last there. There is also a Longo's Market. I'd often get cubed fruit, such as watermelon and cantaloupe, that was easy to eat at my desk to keep me content throughout the afternoon. There used to be a Marche, where you can choose from sandwiches and hot meals. I don't think it's there anymore, but it was awesome. The top floor is where you get to see the high glass ceiling and gorgeous architecture. I didn't appreciate it when I worked here because it was a fairly crazy time in my life working full-time and doing a master's degree part-time. However, when I have returned as a visitor, be it during Nuit Blanche or when I'm heading to Scotiabank Arena, I appreciate how beautiful the crystal cathedral of commerce is. My favourite memory will always be lining up with a few colleagues to get a free heart rate monitor on the first floor of Brookfield Place. We enjoyed missing a bit of work, chatting with one other, and getting a health gift in return. I gave mine to my parents and they still use it to this day. I miss Brookfield Place and the various giveaways that take place. I don't miss the job that I had or the stress that I had experienced. Luckily, I do get to drop by whenever I'm attending a concert. You can enter and exit this eatery to get to the mall. I used to take Cantonese classes as a teen a block away. Afterwards, I had the option of hanging around this mall and then heading home by streetcars, or I'd go nuts and walk all the way down to Eaton Centre, hang around, and then go home. I loved malls back then. I can't say that I feel the same way these days. This mall is a shadow of itself, which is a shame. It used to be cool seeing vendors in the lobby. I got a sterling silver ring here when I was in grade 11. I still have it. Excellent quality. It still fits, too! Back then, bubble tea wasn't as popular as it is now. I did love getting iced pineapple drinks from a vendor in the basement. Sadly, it's gone, along with most of the food court down there. I saw two eateries in the basement that were left standing. The eateries are scattered on the ground, second, and fourth floors. Frankly, I don't know why the designers skipped naming the fourth floor the third floor. Chinese culture doesn't like the number four because it sounds like death when you say it out loud. Weird. The ground floor is the most interesting because it has the most stores. Sun Wah Bookstore has been kicking around for decades. It was nice seeing it again. Tung Tung Dan Quen King has bubble waffles and more. Sugar Marmalade is next to Juicy Dumpling, so you can stuff yourself with carbs and then go on a dessert high next door. There were a couple of Chinese herb stores, a pharmacy, a gift store, an optical store and more on the ground floor. It's such an eclectic, odd mix of stores. The second floor had six or seven businesses that were open. It was sad seeing half this floor vacant. There's a claw machine place called PaliPali Claw. I suck at claw games, so I didn't go in. Owl of Minerva, Clay Pot Rice, and Canteen are you eateries. I've never been to the fourth floor, There was a sign saying that Sky Dragon Chinese Restaurant is there. It's interesting that it's the only business up there. I hope that there's a rooftop patio or something up there, too. Forget hitting the washrooms here. They are gross. You're better off hitting the washrooms at Chinatown Centre where they are passable. It was nice to return, but the Dragon City that I loved as a teen is long gone. Instead, I embrace ice cream, bubble waffles, and dumplings. Here's to new memories! (341)
