Assembly Chef's Hall is a massive food hall located in the same building as Google's Toronto Office in the Financial District. It's a food court but a bit fancier than a regular one. It's filled with the best chefs and gourmet restaurants so their prices are on the higher side. You might call it as a high end Food Hall. It has been open since 2017 (if I'm not wrong). I've been here several times. However, they had to closed down the dine-in service during the pandemic. But now, their patio is open! Have you been to their patio yet? I went there a week ago with my husband and a friend for their patio. The patio is spacious and pretty. They are as concerned about customers' safety as they claimed. You can see that all staff wear face masks at all times and all tables are 6 feet apart. Their washrooms are cleaned regularly and you can find sanitizer station at all the entrances. When you come in, you need to check in through a QR code for contact-tracing purpose. You can check their menu via QR code as well (here https://qrcodes.pro/YGpprG ) We ordered some sandwiches from MIRA MIRA. They were Jerk Chicken Banh mi and Haddock Sandwich. Chef's Hall is a really cool concept with a number of different restaurants that you can order from all at once. The restaurants within may not be open on every given day so there's some variety with that. The different restaurants may also have their own specials so that's another layer on top of that. I definitely took advantage of the ability to order from multiple restaurants. What's not to love about a ramen and taco combo?! When you enter they do seat you. This place is almost made for gatherings as there are a lot of picnic type benches and high tops with lots of stools. There is more intimate seating with a few double tables as well. At each table there is a QR code that brings you to the website. The site lists which restaurants are open and the menus for each. It is full service at Chef's Hall. If the restaurants have any features, that gets explained. The service can be a little slow sometimes. I think it's just the logistics of ordering from a few different places. This is a review of Grateful Chicken from Chef's Hall. I got the 5 piece Fried Chicken Bucket through Ubereats. The coating on the chicken was too thick, hard, and not particularly flavorful. The dill they use on the coating didn't particularly complement the flavor at all. The chicken meat inside tasted good. My dining companion and I had the privilege of trying the $14 "42 Ingredient Salad" from Hibiscus and the $30 truffle mushroom gnocchi from Boemo. The salad was really good, for a salad. It was filling and bursting with different colours, textures, and tastes. But it couldn't hold a candle to the gnocchi, which was decadent, marvelous, and had me shamelessly trying to scoop up tiny bits of sauce from my companion's plate to savour that flavour. Seating was prompt, as we had a reservation. The patio is well decorated and has a welcoming atmosphere. We all started with some drinks. I ordered the Fresh Ginger Ale (~$5) and it was great, but I can't say the same for the food. The waiter had to come back to the table at least 3 or 4 times (from what I remember) to apologize and ask my friends and I to choose something else from the menu because the kitchen didn't have what we originally ordered. With only two restaurants operating, it didn't leave many options and it was disappointing. I would have to say that the waiter handled these issues the best that they could and did their best to help our group find other food options. I ended up ordering the Chicken Karaage Don rice bowl in the Regular size (~$8). It ended up being served to me in a pint-size plastic takeout tub and we were all given single-use plastic utensils to eat with. The chicken was pretty dry and the flavour in the dish completely banked itself on the spicy mayo that was drizzled on top. As a result, I would have to say that I found the presentation and food quality for the price paid to be disappointing. The kitchen also got one of my friend's orders wrong, on top of not having what they ordered the first time around. This definitely made the Chef's Hall service rating lower in my books. Overall, until more restaurants return to the food court and the establishment re-gains its footing, I would recommend that you come for the drinks and the patio vibe - but skip the food! read more

Love Assembly Chef's Hall Concept of having some of the best restaurants in TO to open up a stall in a "food court" like setting. The offerings are quite versatile and with a good selection of dish that represent the individual business. Great for groups and even individuals. We tried the Spicy Sopressata Pizza from The Good Son ($18), Bara Chirashi from Shari ($19.50) and Pad Gra Prao from Little Khao ($17). They were all really tasty and really similar to what one would get in the perspective restaurants. One might argue that they are more pricier from regular food court. But moving forward the price might be adjusted based on the market situation since they just opened for business last week. Music was pretty loud at the Bulldog/Cherry BBQ area. Assembly Chef's Hall is a not a food court, but a Centralized location offers great food from Toronto's great chefs. You don't need to have long wait or pay a lot in their regular restaurants and allow you to have some of the best dishes on their menu. The best way to experience ACH is to call a group of friends and share the dishes together. Most of the seatings are communion style and able to fit big groups. My Yelp friends shared a few dishes together: Bara Chirashi from Shari - sushi rice is prepared perfectly and the seafood is very fresh. pad gra prao from Little Khao - the meat is flavourful and love the spices they used. I could drink this all day! The ramen was also fantastic. Great noodle texture and nice broth, but just slightly too salty. Saving best for last, we got the Pigs Finders Frites which are truffle parmesan fries. Witty name and delicious! We got their famous creamy mushroom truffle gnocchi. If you're there, you gotta try it!! Delicious!!!! Gnocchi were very nicely made. Very light. Not as fluffy as I've tried at other Italian places but definitely amazing anyway! This place is like a foodie heaven. As you enter, it can get a little overwhelming trying to decide what to eat. But the best part is, you can walk right up to the bar and ask "Hi, can you please recommend what white or bubbly will go well with my black sesame tan tan ramen? Then after you place you glass on a table, you can decide if you want lobster, fried chicken, truffle fried rice from Dailo. It's just a great evening even coming here by myself! The tables are first come first serve. So coming alone, I used my Mackage jacket and scarf to save a two seater as the seats are taken quickly. From ramen Isshin, I asked the staff which one is most popular and she recommended the black sesame tan tan, so I ordered that. Broth was tasty. Noodles were chewy, just a little smaller portion for $16 compared to the other ramen places that I normally go to. I've also ordered a CHIRASHIZUSHI (small) $18.50 from Shari, chef is the same owner as Shoushin. It was okay. The tobiko was fresh, I find the sushi rice a little sour, maybe too much vinegar? I've been here a few times but actually dined in only twice. The first time was about a month or two after it opened two years ago and the second time was last weekend. The main thing that sticks out in my mind is how packed it was on that weekend the first time I went (I remember that we had to wait for seats) compared to how there was barely anyone there during the lunch hour last Saturday. My husband told me that it still gets busy during lunch on weekdays though, which I can imagine since it's like a one stop food shop. That's probably the best part about this place - that there are many different places to choose from all in one large space. It's like an elevated version of a food court without any fast food chains. Many of these places are already established restaurants on their own so it's a bonus that there are several of them under one roof. I like how there are different types of food to choose from - Italian, Mexican, Thai, Japanese, coffee bar, desserts etc. There's something for everyone. On this particular visit, I had truffle gnocchi from Resto Boemo and ramen from Ramen Isshin - both dishes were delicious. The ramen was slightly smaller than expected but the broth was flavorful and it satisfied my ramen craving for the price of about $13. The gnocchi was so creamy and rich - a pretty good portion for about $18. On a previous visit, we ordered takoyaki from Ramen Isshin and the chorizo gnocchi from Resto Boeme, which were also good choices. Aesthetically, you can tell a good amount of money was put into creating this food hall. It has a modern but eclectic vibe to it. I like how there are fun photo ops throughout as well. There are plenty of seats to enjoy the atmosphere - some near the main entrance but majority of these areas are near the back of the assembly hall. The only con that I can think of is that the prices are higher at some of the vendors considering the smaller portions and less offerings at each individual vendor compared to dining at the stand alone restaurants. That being said, that's understandable considering these are smaller stands. Overall, there's still a good amount of food from different vendors to choose from - kind of like doing a food crawl of sorts, where you can try a dish from a bunch of different places all in one space. Built like an indoor fine-dining night market, Assembly Chef's Hall has a variety of food stalls featuring mouthwatering finger foods, meals, and desserts. I was here at the U of T Alumni Shaker (800 guests) so there was a lot of waiting involved. Hopefully its not that busy on a regular visit.. At 25$, each of us got one drink ticket and 9 food tickets. There are 14 food stalls so we had to choose wisely. Since the pricing is different from the usual, I'll only post my reviews of the food and atmosphere~ (but i heard its $$$) A map is handed out at the door which highlighted details of all 14 food vendors. Instead of following the trail, I started with the shortest line and moved on from there. Boemo Resto: Truffle fries and Mac n' Cheese "The Boho Truffle Gnoc" The fries are freshly made and has a nice crunch on the outside, with a generous splash of truffle oil. Smelled so good too! Normally I don't like Mac n' Cheese but Boemo added something special :) Short & Sweet Bake shop: cupcakes and cookies I had a vanilla icing cupcake with a caramel drizzle. The icing isn't too sweet and the size was just right to pair with the fluffy cake without having leftovers. When you take a bite, there is a secret caramel filling inside! The Good Son: Mushroom Parmagiano pizza the crust was very thin - too thin. The fatty oils combined with the mushroom umami-ness was an overkill and I desperately needed something light and tart to cut down its richness. 42 Ingredient Salad "Quinoa, sweet potato, broccoli, lentils, tofu, kale, carrot, beet, kelp + 33 other wholesome, organically grown and delicious ingredients." I think it also had sunflower seeds and beans. I think that the phrase everything in moderation really applies here because the abundance of ingredients allowed for little flavour and I didn't know what I was eating. I understand it is a healthy meal, but food has gotta taste good too. Less is more, maybe? There is also a sushi stand where you have Omakase meals (chef's table) while standing, and the place only holds under 10 people. The line was way too long though. Overall, wasn't too wowed, maybe because I had higher expectations from all the hype about this place. Would get the truffle fries again, but other than that...i dont really see a point in revisiting. I think food courts are meant for quick, cheap, and tasty sitmedowns, and things here are certainly neither quick nor cheap. It may be cool to visit with friends, but then again, that'd be a lot of money to put down. Maybe its the fact that there are too many options... For me, I prefer one style of food with a pitcher of beer - that kind of night out, whereas Assembly's Chef's Hall might be a good instagram foodie exploration night instead. read more

Toronto finally gets this highly anticipated upscale food court located in the Google building across from the Sheraton. Even though it's not completely open yet, what is currently there is very intriguing and is setting a high bar for expectations. This place will be in the millennial's yelp bookmark for sure. It's got ample space, quality food, and some booze to boot. But be prepared to make in rain with some $20s like you're going to your BFF's bachelor or bachelorette party. Lots of potential here. You're getting restaurant quality food at restaurant prices for a self serve/quick serve environment. I think Assembly Hall fills a gap needed in Toronto while we wait with great expectations of Eataly coming to the city. But we're going to have to see if they can overcome the food price sensitivity of the locals here. Hopefully Google employees will bring their wallets. The restaurateurs are shelling out the same for rent here as owning an entire restaurant, so it's going to take regular traffic to keep this place here. Gourmet food court is one way to describe Assembly Chef's Hall but it's more than that. Several of Toronto's popular restaurants (and chefs) are represented here, with smaller versions of their main locations. These include Reyna (Bar Reyna), DaiLo, Ramen Isshin, The Good Son, Little Khao (Khao San Road), Cherry Street Bar-B-Que, and more. There are enough food choices to satisfy any palette, whether it's a healthy salad, pizza, Asian, BBQ, seafood, dessert, coffee, alcohol, or so much more. In fact, it took about 20 minutes for my companions and me to decide what we wanted to try. We ended up with a warm lobster roll from Bluenose Lobster, ribs and brisket from Cherry Street Bar-B-Que, and parm fries and gnocchi from Resto Boemo. The food was pretty good (see individual reviews) but, depending on what time you arrive, seating could be an issue, despite the whole place being quite spacious. I understand there will also be outdoor seating over the summer. We arrived shortly after 6:00pm, in the middle of the after-office crowd and it was very busy. It took a bit of walking around and waiting to find a table (that we shared). The ambiance was kinda trendy warehouse-chic, with dimmer lighting in the seating and bar areas. There's a live DJ playing music that gave the place a little bit of a club vibe. I like this place. Even with friends willing to share, there were too many choices for just one visit. I'll be back. I came here twice now for lunch. It's a food hall with many vendors and gets extremely busy during the noon-hour rush. At 1pm, it isn't as busy and finding a table was simple. Good luck trying to get a table at noon. There is a DJ playing music at noon, so it gets loud on both sides of the hall. My friends and I tried the Bara Chirashi from Shari, which was beautifully presented in a wooden box. The fish was fresh and rice was perfect. I don't know where it comes from, but there was a bit of sweetness in the dish. We also tried the Pad Gra Prao from Little Khao. It was just as good as the Pad Gra Prao from Khao San Road and Pai. There was plenty of savory pork and I found the egg undercooked. We tried the Spicy Sopressata Pizza from Good Son. I'm not a fan of olives, but the olives on this pizza wasn't bad. You can choose from sushi, Italian food, smoked bbq, fried chicken, street Thai style entrees, lobster, tacos, charcuterie, matcha coffee plenty more. Love Chix had some great fried chicken. You get about 6 large wing pieces smothered in a sweet Thai like sauce. Lightly breaded and dipped in their house made sauce was delicious. I didn't have to wait in line to order or get my food, lots of seating to choose from and quiet enough to hear my date. Although there are many choices, it's expensive for what you get. I absolutely adore this concept! Funnily enough, I had a similar vision a while back with a bit of a social enterprise spin... So this place is particularly near and dear to my heart! Assembly Chef's Hall has amazing vibes - every time I've been, it has been filled with people who are chatting, laughing, and just overall having a great time! Only downfall is that there are limited seats and oftentimes it's difficult finding an area to sit. So far, I've been to Bulldog for their amazing lattes and rainbow lattes, Shari for chirashisushi, and Tachi for stand up omakase! Generally, it looks like a food court, but more uppity. Ambience is casual and I like the natural lighting from the giant glass wall looking over the street. If it were raining, it'd be a Lo-Fi music video. I had the pizza from The Good Son, and my dude had a kale salad because he wasn't hungry like the wolf. I can't really comment on the salad but... I mean, a salad's a salad. My cappriciosa pizza was 8" diameter and it was beautiful. The ingredients tasted very fresh and it came out steaming hot. I don't even remember what toppings I had but I'm assuming it's mushrooms because I fell in love with them. Juicy and fresh, it was the best complement to the marinara. The crust was a little too wide in my opinion. I would've liked more pizza and less crust. Also, the bottom was quite burnt. :( Too carcinogenic for me! Amazing new food court very similar to the upscale, modern food courts of NY, like Chelsea Market, Gotham Street Market, etc. I always love the concept of food courts and especially the designs of the stalls and overall space and this one is on point. There's an ample amount of seating, a nice bar to grab drinks and chill and 15+ different stalls inside the "food court". It's a little more on the pricey side for the portions given, but the food is still pretty high quality though it's a food court and there are stall versions of popular restaurants like Khao San Road and Isshin Ramen. It's just more fun to try out some different foods with a group of friends in one place and all share things of a different cuisine. Me and my friends ended up trying Ramen Isshin, Khao San Road, and Mira Mira's. They were all pretty different dishes, so it was fun to try them all, but I think the Chicken with Kale Cesar at Mira Mira was the best of the three. This is not the first time I've been to this place but I always come back for the gnocchi and the ramen! Ramen Isshin has one of the best broth I've had for ramen and the portions were quite fair! The gnocchi as well at assembly hall are my favorite ! It's extremely creamy and super filling and yummy. I would highly recommend coming for it ! I've also been to Tachi before at assembly hall and they have pretty inexpensive omakase there! You get pretty moderate to good pieces for the price. Highly recommend coming with friends and large group and even for socials as they have a great bar area there too ! We went to the Assembly Chef's Hall and went to Colibrí. We ordered the baja and steak tacos. They were both delicious and were quite a handful. They have a number of salsas on the side that you can choose from and fill up the little cups provided. The salsas were all so tasty and some are very spicy so be careful! Assembly Chef's Hall is located inside of 111 Richmond W on the ground floor which is on the south side of Richmond between York and Sheppard in the heart of the financial district. Food. Drink. Hustle. Bustle. Choice. If I were limited to only 5 words to describe Assembly Chef's Hall I'd probably go with those. Thankfully there's no such limitation. I can't imagine going to ACH and not being able to find something to consume. It would be kind of hard to do considering the variety and range of cuisine available here. Essentially ACH is like a mall food court except that there's no Tim Horton's, McDonald's or Manchu Wok. Consider that everything in here is different and practically an equivalent of an indoor food truck convergence except it's inside a brick and mortar with seating and a bar. There are 2 distinct seating areas in Assembly Chef's Hall. One is at the atrium style opening of the side where Isshin is that is much more open and has more light and there's the bar side by Cherry Street BBQ at ground level and has bench style seating by the windows for larger parties. The layout of the place is essentially a big "L" shape with seating at each end. All businesses with few exceptions like the coffee bar are basically side by side. The hallways can get quite busy since individuals are lining up at each business, ordering and waiting. Because I can't possibly remember all the businesses inside I had to look them up and list them here: - Chef's Table (as per the site, new in 2019) serving vegan, vegetarian, etc - Tokyo Smoke, Bull Dog Coffee serving coffee - Short & Sweet serving high quality ingredient desserts - Love Chix serving fried chicken - Little Khao serving Thai (Khao San Road affiliated) - Ramen Isshin serving ramen bowls - The Good Son serving pizza - Reyna serving charcuterie and other share plates - Dailo serving Chinese, French inspired cuisine - Tachi serving sushi - Cherry Street Bar-B-Que serving you guessed it, BBQ - Colibri serving Mexican/South American style tortilla plates - Resto Boemo serving contemporary Canadian - Nutbar serving superfood snacks - Mira Mira serving healthy comfort food - Hibiscus serving organic, vegan, vegetarian and gluten free fare All this and a bar. The bar while they have some specials, pints on the regular priced menu to me seem priced higher (9 bucks or so) but if you can hit them up when it's happy hour they do have some decent deals. Overall this place has a lot of different things to try at each place and even if you went to a different place each day it would take you over half a month to hit up each business in the Hall. That's a lot of choices condensed into a rather small space but it makes it for convenient choices in a small area. I've found that after work hours Assembly Chef's Hall is a great place for a get together with a group if you can secure one of the larger bench style tables in the bar area since there's a little something for everybody or if you're just going to meet for drinks. read more

Food hall with lots of different vendors and restaurants inside. Looks like a great space to try a lot of different types of cuisines. We came to try Tochi this time with the standing omakase. I believe the hall has been open for 5 years now but several of the places had to close down due to the struggles of covid. Recently they've been slowly picking up again and I think more stalls are opening up again and/or changing to new vendors. Reminds me of Urban Spaces in NYC and the like. If you're visiting, definitely check them out on the weekend. They have a great beer hall at the end for drinks and what not too. Summary: Great place to come with some friends or family and try a lot of different kinds of cuisines out. Also, just a great place to catch a drink or cocktail at. Food halls are becoming popular in many major cities and I think it's a great concept. I think this food hall is a little pricy but with all the options and location it makes sense. I have been here a handful of times and have enjoyed the wide variety of food offered. I visited Ramen Isshin's booth and ordered the roasted garlic shoyu for $14 and it was delicious The noodles were perfectly cooked and had a good chew. The broth was not too salty and had the perfect amount of garlic. The pork, however, was a little dry but still delicious Thw soft boiled egg was cooked to perfection and went beautifully with the rest of the ramen. Service: The line up was about 20 minutes long at 12:15 pm on a Tuesday due to the lunch rush they typically have at Assembly Chef's Hall. The lady who took my order was very polite and patient with everyone in line. High end food court here! There were various counters serving food, from burgers to ramen to tacos. I liked that I could go with any sized group and there's likely something to suit individual taste buds. I got the Roasted Garlic Shoyu from Ramen Isshin. My partner got the Chicken Khao Soi from Little Khao. Both of us got our food in surprisingly very little time (less than 10 mins). My ramen ($14+tax) was creamy and rich, and tasted very comparable to ramen at done-in restaurants. My partner also loved his Khao Soi. There was plenty of seating around. This spot has some amazing restaurants and rad service! I think the cafeteria-style set up that this place offered is the way to go for quick, diverse food service. We can all be a little finicky, so why not have a bunch of restaurants in one place? Makes sense to me! I came in with a larger group of people during lunch, and we were luckily able to get a table for all of us. Our table was filled with tacos, fries, burgers, ramen, and so much more. From vegan to meat-eater, everyone could find something here. The decor is also stellar. A super cool bar is available for your lunch-time cocktail needs (if you can make that fly). Being the basic boy that I am, I went with their award winning Double B Burger and added a side of Pig Finder Frites (parm-truffle). What followed was an explosion of near orgasmic flavour. I'm all for this food hall trend thats sweeping through North America right now. If only this trend would make it's way over to Vancouver, then I'd be an even happier camper. Assembly Chef's Hall is perfect for large groups who can't decide on what they want. They have everything you could possibly want to eat in one building. Fish tacos, large bowls of ramen, spicy curry, truffle parmesan fries, gnocchi, salads, and Toronto's best burger of 2018. I walked around for almost 10 minutes eyeing up each menu and watching the chefs behind the counter stir up feasts for the hungry lunch crowd. I decided to split an order of the truffle fries with one of my pals and then we both decided to get an order of fish and pollo tacos. The fish tacos were bomb and I really wish I had an extra one. The parmesan fries were also a big winner at the table, so much that when my coworkers ordered some I picked at their fry bowl too. Charcuterie boards, cocktails, Asian fusion, sushi and pizza, are just a few other delicacies that you can find at this awesome spot. This place is fantastic! So many options of dining pleasure in one spot! A perfect place to come with a group who has different wants and needs! I saw a bunch of my co workers eat Ramen the night before so I had to go with lunch from Ramen Isshen, I was happy with my choice! The food was fantastic and the chef even came out to the table to check on my dietary needs when I said I wanted it vegan! I must admit I was a little distracted the whole time I was here cause I was trying to buy Spiritulized concert tickets as they went on pre-sale.. After a bunch of technological warfare with my phone and ticketmaster I was able to secure a 3rd row ticket and calm down and finally taste my Ramen.. Great place to go to if you aren't sure on what to eat as they do have a ton of options that vary from one another. I wasn't hungry at that time but I did stop by Short & Sweet Bake Shop to get one of their birthday bars. Service was really quick and nice as there were no customers at that time.
