They now have zones called neighbourhoods. The newest neighbourhood is called Union Market, which opened 2023-05-09. This neighbourhood is made up of many stalls with many different vendors. Every stall is very modern. There are a few permanent vendors and 2 pop-ups on opening day. A few other vendors will open soon. There are a few lounging stalls with tables and chairs. There is even a sub-neighbourhood called Union Fresh Market! Union Market is not easy to find because it is tucked away when coming from the Union Station Subway Station. I had to ask some other vendors to point the way for me. There is "The PATH" that runs through the middle. The current stalls are south of The PATH. The stalls north of The PATH will open Sep 2023. It seems obvious to me I haven't explored Union Station since at least 2018 since I didn't know they extended The PATH into Union Station! The current vendors are: - The Alley - Patties Express - Chocollata Gourmet Brigadeiros - My Olive - Lena's Floral Design - Manotas Organics (not open yet) - Gemlet (pop-up) - Virtue Vintage (pop-up) I spoke to the staff/owners at each stall except for The Alley because they were constantly busy while I was there 16:15 to 19:30. I'm excited for Union Station. They made a modern Union Food Court many years ago, then they opened the Union Foodie Aisle in 2022, and now Union Market in.2023. The place is wheelchair accessible. Throw in a mix bag of designer stores for clothing, furniture etc. and you got yourself a place that was visited by the moi once in a while. Fast forward a few years the name has changed and now you have what I think a much brighter space, a decent food hall, a high end gym and an event and pop up space. Living in this area I enjoy my visits here to get last min stuff and now a post office in the Rexall. The designer stores are more of the same IMO (I think there are mostly owned by the same company) as alas the Jacadi location has closed. I luv the pop up spots (laduree' at the time of this review) and the event space up front complete with Jacked up coffee van. The Whole Foods is still here and now I feel somewhat more reasonable what they sell. I think this is decent spots to visit to run your errands or stores that are found here.

This is a very old-style shopping mall. All other vendors are small. On top of the mall is the Huntley Apartments. The main entrances are off Bloor St E and Selby St. The mall hallways seem clean enough, but you can see unsavory people around. There is a paid parking garage, but it doesn't appear safe in there. I discovered that I could take the path from the lower level of my hotel all the way, without ever going outside. There are numerous shops, banks and restaurants/food courts. The downside is the hours vary (Starbucks and Tim Horton's are good choices for coffee but aren't open super early or very late) and it is kind of a maze if you're not sure where you're going. Yet it's very convenient for the businesses that are above it, and I imagine commuters love it when the weather is bad.

The PATH. It can be rather polarizing. Either you love and embrace it, or you despise or find it…read moreintimidating. In a nutshell, the PATH is an underground walkway in downtown Toronto that has stores, restaurants, and more. It is handy if you live or work downtown, and the weather isn't stellar outside. This network of walkways seems rather vast. It's best to consult a map to get you from place to place, especially if you are new to it or the city. My experience using the PATH came when I worked downtown. I used to work for a bank and some of my meetings required moving between Brookfield Place and Commerce Court. You could walk outdoors on Bay Street when it was warm and nice outside. However, during the winter months, I preferred walking between the two building through the PATH. I loved looking at all the stores and eyed where I'd go shopping on my next lunch break while trying warm. When I was fairly new to my job, I didn't take vacation between Christmas and New Year's Day. I enjoyed being at work in a fairly quiet office. I also spent quality time gaining my PATH experience by traversing to a new place to shop every day during my lunch hour. Of note, my lunch hour ended up getting extended, but who would know when I was the only person in the office, right? Bonus! My first enjoyable walk was from Brookfield Place to the Winners at Yonge and King. I got a decent walk to and from this store. I also scored a purple Eddie Bauer puffy jacket for a ridiculous $40 that I loved so much. I became more daring as I became more comfortable with the PATH. I remember setting up an appointment at the Apple Store at the Eaton Centre. My iPod wasn't working properly. So, I walked from work over to the store after work. My iPod was analyzed and was determined that it was faulty under warranty. I got a new one, which I still have today and love, despite the device itself being discontinued. Ah, memories! Whenever I'm downtown and I'm taking in a concert or event at Scotiabank Arena, I tend to walk through the PATH. It is open 24 hours a day. Many of the store are closed, but you can still safely meander the underground walkways. I've done it many times between 11:30 pm and 12:30 am. For concerts, I tend to park at Richmond Adelaide Centre and walk down to Scotiabank Arena. Parking is cheaper. I can also drive out of the downtown core without much congestion compared to being a block or two away from the venue. The PATH is perfect. I often leave my coat in my car and walk underground. Less bulk is nice. The PATH is cool is my books. If you're a tourist, give it a try because it's different and it's one of the better ones in major cities. If you walk around downtown often and it's horrible outside, walking underground is a nice alternative. (168)
