I really like walking here in the summer time when there's beautiful weather and sometimes they have the open markets in the middle. You can easily grab a bite to eat and browse. I mostly come to window shop and get some fresh air and a few steps in. It's always kept so clean and organized, and I think they do a great job with hosting those market events. Clear signage etc. I will say, I'm not a fan of their parking structure. People litter a lot of random stuff and I think maybe they can just put a few garbage cans near there. read more

The layout here is very similar to shopping centres in the southern US. It's got all the accoutrements, i.e. benches to sit on and relax while enjoying your designer coffee. They had artists displaying their wares for sale under white canopies. Personally speaking, I find this place a tad overhyped. read more

This place is more like a plaza with all the stores outside. I'm not that familiar with this place so sometimes trying to find a bathroom is a journey. That's what I don't like about the shops here. Also, being outdoors you're exposed to the elements. When I came here it was a super hot, humid day. A friend took me out for lunch. It would've been much nicer to be inside a nice, air conditioned mall than this place. Also, although the stores are supposed to be high end, some of them aren't very clean. I USED TO like Joey's. The food was great, the service was fast, and the atmosphere was cool. I liked it so much, I used to host staff meetings there. But after my latest trip there last night, I'm not so sure I'll be frequenting Joey's much more. The prices are the same, but the serving sizes have really shrunk. I order the same thing every time - steak and ravioli. Up until yesterday, that was enough to fill me up. But yesterday, it no longer filled me up, because the serving sizes have really shrunk (but prices stayed the same). I only got 8 ravioli. The steak also seemed smaller than usual. After I left Joey's I was still hungry. And I'm not a big person (5'4 and 145 lbs.), so it doesn't take much to fill me up. The steak and ravioli were delicious - there just wasn't much of them. On top of that, the tipping options were somewhat audacious. The minimum tip is 18%, which seems entitled to me. I'm strongly against tipping culture, but I tip anyway. However, when I see an 18% minimum, it makes me want to select a custom tip option, which I did. With other great options out there, like Cactus Club Cafe and Earl's, I think this might have been my last trip to Joey's, at least for a very long time. read more

Great place to just relax outdoors and sit in an open space and soak in the sun. In terms of shopping, somewhat lacking I find. They have a good range of mid-end shops but honestly not much to really browse around. Would be cute with little boutiques but seem to have lost its glam. Does have good restaurants around, can use more though in my opinion. Watch a movie if you like as well there. Theres also a Metro and a McEwans. The Starbucks is also a SB Reserve so they serve nitro cold brew and such, beautiful location. Personally I usually go for Structube when I'm here. Other than that, a nice stroll along the lanes and then after half hour I generally go lol So if you're looking for a place to just casually stroll and have no intention to buy anything, this place is for you! I love to browse around at Shops at Don Mills! And I think my dog would love the idea too!! So neat that you can bring your little doggie inside the stores and shop with you as long as the stores does not sell any food products! I know for non dog lovers it does not sound really appealing but what the heck... as long as the dogs are well behaved! The shops here are more upscale and it is a wonderful experience to browse and do some window shopping when the weather is nice and sunny. At least Shops at Don Mills is an unique experience compares to all those suburban malls that feature the same stores and selling the same goods! This is a breath of fresh air! After 10 minutes of waiting, the waitress came to our table and without greeting or introducing herself , while she was busy talking with others, she threw the menu in front of us and left. It was a nice Monday and although the weather report said it would rain, we were pleasantly surprised with the sunny warm skies. So we decided to go for a little trip to Don Mills. It was my first time here and it kind of reminded me of a fancy outdoor outlet, except it's not outlet stores. They have shops like Banana Republic, Anthropologie, Lindt, and Guess. They have some boutiques too that I don't remember the name of. Clothes are generally pretty expensive here. We just went to look. Parking is crazy. For some reason it was really packed for a Monday afternoon. We had to park on the second floor of the parkade. McEwans was the most fun place to go. They have so much food and fancy stuff to look at. Everything looks so yummy (and expensive)! It reminds me of a Whole Foods. The highlight of my trip was seeing this homeless lady slowly making her way through the mall area. She's known to frequent buses, hospitals, Tim Hortons, and Loblaws. This was a nice place to spend 2 hours or so browsing and looking at food. I would not go if the weather was cold or wet, though. I wonder how businesses do then? read more

This outdoor mall has a limited selection of shops, although they include some nice ones like anthropology and L L Bean. There are also decent sitting areas. However , I am not a fan of Outdoor malls and find them completely unsuitable to our climate in Toronto. Why build a mall where it will be unpleasant to shop during our long winters, spring, and whenever it rains, snows, hails or on hot, humid days? Even when the weather is pleasant, this mall has too limited a selection of shops to make it worth my while to go there. I much prefer Yorkdale or the Eaton Centre or Sherway or any of the nicer malls with a good selection of stores and protection from the weather. Shops at Don Mills has great shopping but I don't think an outdoor mall is a good idea in a city like Toronto due to its climate. It may be nice during the warmer months of the year but in January you may not like the Shops at Don Mills too much. It has great restaurants including Jackastors, Chipotle, Joeys and Paramount. It has a VIP cineplex and the shops at this mall are mostly higher end shops. Overall its a great mall in North York and makes for a great day of summer shopping. read more

CF shops (called Shops at Don Mills before Cadillac Fairview bought it) is an outdoor type market, perfect for the summer time. I'm not sure how I feel about this place in the winter, I know they have a few events that run, but the few times I tried to come to these events, I still thought it was too cold and not worth my time. CF has branded this mall though, and included the iconic deer during Christmas time this past year as a part of the branding. The shops here are all on the higher end, and gives you a bit of the American vybe (but the States definitely has much better weather than us). To give credit to this mall, these shops are fairly unique to this mall, and there's a lovely parking lot in the back with adequate parking. During the summer, I think this mall is lovely and I definitely come once a year to enjoy the middle open space and grab an ice cream to shop around. read more

I don't come to this mall too often but I visit every once in a while and always have a good time. This mall has amazing stores, which all provide excellent customer service. They also have lots of nice restaurants, which you can dine at for breakfast lunch and dinner. The mall is set up so you to have the perfect day. You can shop during the day, dine at any of their wonderful restaurants and then catch a movie at the VIP Theatre. The VIP theatre has a lounge for drinks and snacks and wonderful big leather chairs with servers servicing the theatre before the show. This is the perfect theatre for you to get comfortable before the show so you can relax and unwind at the end of the day. In the Summer, The Shops at Don Mills provides the community with free cycling and yoga clubs for the community to join, while in the winter you can stop by for ice skating. This is truly a great mall where you can catch some sunshine between stores so you can get all the benefits of the good for you vitamin D. I love it here! read more

From Banana Republic to Aldo to Anthropologie to Michael Kors there is something for everyone here. Want to get some wine and get your car washed...well stop by here. And while you are waiting head to Aroma and get yourself a coffee. There is a big green space in the middle where kids can run around - lots of events are there as well - yoga; jazz bands; fashion shows etc. There is also a train for kids that goes around the area. Plenty of parking as there is a 4 tier covered parking garage in the back. Pick up some groceries or just look cool pretending to at Mcewan's. Joeys, Jack Astors, Bier Market, Glow are just some of the restaurants you will find here. Love to come here during the weekend for a stroll or to study. It's a nice outdoor plaza, with an open green space in the middle which is transformed into a skating rink during the winter season. Its very dog friendly as many people come here to walk their dogs. For drinks there is Teavana, Starbucks, Aroma and Ice N Cake. These places tends to get crowded during the weekend, but usually wait to order is no longer than 10 minutes. Some stores here which I enjoy are Oak + Fort, Anthropologie, Frank and Oak, and Artizia. However, I do notice that the prices here tend to be marked up higher compared to your conventional malls like Eatons or Fairview. McEwan supermarket here is also great to check out. They carry specialty foods and brands that you won't see elsewhere, along with neat trinkets, stationary, and soaps. read more

Looking for outdoor shopping in Toronto? Well look no further it's right here at Shops at Don Mills! This place used to be ghetto when I was a kid. I mean you wouldn't leave your car window open at night ghetto. Well they cleaned it up and now this is a new upbeat place to be in Toronto. I'd like to mention I like the concept as it is similar to shopping in LA or California in general. The only difference is we get a serious winter. This place is pretty dead in the winter, except for the little ice rink they make in the middle and other small events. The spring and summer here is gorgeous and you'll see everything from dogs and kids running around to live music and even some days super cars just show up everywhere. It's a nice place to be and super free! The shopping here is more clothing and high end boutiques more than anything else. I find they need a bit more variation in stores to get more people interested. I mean would it hurt to get some kind of sporting good store or toy store around here? Food wise there is plenty to choose from. Joey's, Beir Markt, PF Changs, you name it. Generic big chains of course, but what else could sustain business here? Parking is a nightmare on weekends and Fridays when the weather is nice. Be prepared to walk from the grocery parking lot to your desired destination. Not a big deal, but annoying if you're just grabbing a bite to eat quickly. Overall though Toronto needs more of these around the city! read more

The open concept design is nice for a leisurely stroll during the warmer times. With the buildings scattered throughout, there are at times a little hike to get from point a to point b, especially in bad weather and the cooler months. Parking is also a chaos, yes there is a central parking structure but with all the double parked cars littering the roadways and pedestrians darting across the street any which way, it gets annoying very fast. UGH. Not a good concept for Ontario to begin with... then add the fact that it was poorly designed/executed and it's a pretty big flop. Oops. My number one point is WHY WOULD YOU BUILD AN OUTDOOR MALL IN ONTARIO??? We're lucky if we want to be outside from May-October at best... that's 50% a terrible idea already. LOST STAR #1: There is NEVER ANY PARKING in front of the shops. It's stupid to even have spaces there. Take them out and either widen the sidewalks or add a lane. LOST STAR #2: The parking lots suck too. The dimensions or angles or SOMETHING is off here. Bumper cars. Ridiculous when there is more than one car in one area. LOST STAR #3: Hard to navigate. Whether in a car or on foot, the way the stores/mall has been laid out is not efficient or logical. What is the suggested path to follow? During the summer I guess the restaurants are good choices because of the patios and the fact that there are interesting choices here... meh. Still eating at the mall, IMHO. Shops at Don Mills is on my way home from work, but I never, ever stop here even though I usually hit a grocery store and an LCBO on my commute... Yes there are some climate issues to contend with -- this is Toronto it comes with the territory. It's revitalizing this area that been dormant for the past 10 years and people are coming. Highlights for me; McEwans Grocery - gourmet you should see the olive oil aisle $500 bottles, Linda's Thai restaurant - nice red interior, Joey's - funny drink menu, Bier Markt - woot uptown location, Murale Shoppers Drugmart's Cosmetic - ok not a highlight for me but for her lol, highest margin dept goes stand alone. I usually come here on a sunny afternoon, grab a drink and sit on the outdoor tables by the patch of grass and catch up on work. Later on, I would stop by at Anthropologie, glance around the pretty clothes I wish I could afford, smell a few of their candles (ohmygosh they smell divine) and quietly leave. Next stop is McEwans, which is a high end grocery store, selling things you wouldn't typically find in your local Loblaws. A sample of avocado ice cream and spiced hummus later, I find myself drifting to the register with expensive brands of it. If I'm feeling adventurous, I'll stop by at the more high end stores and make small chat with the pretty sales ladies about the most recent fashion happenings and their new product line. Well, this is one of the few malls I enjoy. I have an absolute hatred for indoor malls. I find they are too concrete, cold and blase. However, Shops at Don Mills is totally different. It is a high end mall with Banana Republic, Michael Kors, Eddie Bauer and a high end version of Salad King with a few high end cafes. While this mall is quite expensive, I like it for the following reasons: a) It is outdoors b) Ample parking c) Small rink What I don't like is that the parking is limited next to the stores and to find parking, you have to use their parking complex, so if you're there for a quick in an out, it's not that quick. Also, I wouldn't mind more food options besides Salad King, Jack Astors and P.F. Chang's. I think this is a good "hangout/date" mall, but not a good "looking for deals" mall. A-OK though. read more

Yesterday I discovered Toronto's brand-new outdoor shopping experience - and I'm thrilled to report that it seems as though it will be a great addition to the city! This beautifully landscaped, 30-acre, outdoor mall (reminiscent of what you'd find in California) features walking paths, water fountains, loads of parking, and retail heaven!!!! Not all of the 100 stores are open yet but I've already discovered a few gems. Anyone whose been to or lived in the US is sure to be familiar with Anthropologie -- a stunning clothing/decor shop (similar to Urban Outfitters) with amazing women's fashion, jewelry, furniture, accessories and more. The new outdoor mall also boasts Ontario's first McNally Robinson Booksellers, a Winnipeg-based business (with a location, now called McNally Jackson Books, in NYC). This beautiful, two-story book shop will certainly rival Indigo. They have a fantastic selection of fiction and non-fiction titles & they call themselves "Canada's Most Eventful Bookstore" offering one event/author-reading/book-talk per day! {note: for the first 6 months that they're open, they're giving away free membership cards which entitle you to 10% off all book purchases and usually cost $25} Finally, it looks as though cookbook author, Rose Reisman & the Pickle Barrel have teamed up to develop GLOW Fresh Grill & Wine Bar... a 6,500 sq-ft restaurant opening soon. (looks good!) While the weather is nice, I'm certainly going to take advantage of Toronto's first outdoor lifestyle centre! I've got pretty mixed feelings about this place; mostly because it is an outdoor mall - and outdoor strolling in the winter isn't exactly the greatest when I have dislike of super cold weather with the windchill happening. However in the summer, this place is a real treat - but that's only for a quarter of the year. I guess I could say it is the equivalent of Bayview Village only Outdoors - meaning there are plenty of upscale restaurants with a mix of mid-range to upscale boutiques for your browsing pleasure. And Shops @ Don Mills has the pleasure of being the only location (for now) that has Anthropologie. The best place to find parking is being the McEwans Grocery Store - there is there is a multi-level garage. They've got some events happening such as live music and in the winter the main common piazza (?) is a skating track. read more

This concept seems a bit too hopeful for the Canadian climate. Sure, it's nice on the odd day where the weather works in your favor, but in the winter this place is not inviting at all. Having to go outside from shop to shop isn't very pleasant, and even if you do have a car you can't park in a central location. The lots are both on the outside of the shopping area. I guess I have to give the mall administration props for trying to bring business to a very out-of-the-way spot for TTC users, but if I really wanted to shop swanky, I'd rather go to Bayview Village. It's located right beside a subway stop and, well...about 3 minutes walking distance from home. So I'm definitely biased. On the plus side, this is a nice pedestrian experience and when the days are sunny and warm, it's a great little jaunt. I too also thought that the concept of an outdoor mall in Toronto during the colder months would not work, but I find that the restaurants in this place make you want to come here anyways, pre or post eating. Without a doubt, this place in the summer becomes its own enclave, which brings the area to life. You will note the less-than-stellar buildings on the outskirt of Shops at Don Mills, but with all the new condo's being built, new life is awaiting. I have totally bought into the concept of this 'own little village' that I bought the Reflections Condo as an investment piece (1 out of 7-8 condo's being built here). The plan is, of course, to develop this land and make it self sustainable with a recreation centre and LRT (future, future). I cannot wait to see how this area will turn in the next 15 years, but for now, there are many stores to cater to different tastes: Anthropologie, Eddie Bauer, BCBG to Murale Cosmetics opened by Shoppers, Browns and Bath and Body. 3.5-4* This is a really pretty use of space with a centre square for live performances, movies, or just public congregating. It's sorta like a mini-Celebration Square, flocked with stores/restos! (Too bad the Mississauga-version doesn't have any stores. :( ) Anyway, there are quite a few cafés/restaurants/eateries mixed with a variety of stores with a high-end feel. It actually reminds me of a smaller version of outdoor shopping malls in L.A. Only criticisms I can think of: - only good during warmer months since it's a pedestrian, open air concept - no real stores that I'd drive all the way for - I really didn't like that there was parking in front of stores. Brief Intro: Shops at Don Mills located at Lawrence ave. and Don Mills rd. is an outdoor Shopping facility in an old neighbourhood of rental apartments and a few office buildings. It has ROADS and lanes within the area itself that allow a limited few cars to parallel park while others will have to settle for the parking areas on the outer edges or the Four level Parkade on the NW end. Multiple Guest Services and Washrooms throughout what they name MEWS. Two grocery shops battle it out as McEwan to the North and Metro to the South. Two banks face-off as RBC to the NE corner, while TD near the SW corner. The ideas and designs are carefully thought-out from the names of the streets to the artwork and structures each have their own heritage story to tell. Restaurants OUTNUMBER the fastfood joints here as the 2nd Quick Eats of South St. Burger is still in construction while Pizza Pizza has tons of 8x11 B&W printouts covering their windows to show you the deals. Some Restaurants are the upscale versions of known franchise businesses such as Glow(Pickle Barrel), Jack Astor's, Linda Modern Thai. Joey Don Mills looks the most awesome with a 2nd floor patio. Seating Comfort Level:(**---) What do you expect from OUTDOOR seating? Grab a bench seat in front of some random shop overlooking the fake street like you're waiting for the bus to come. If that's not your cup of tea, then grab a umbrella covered patio seat at the Town Square. Of course no shop is complete without Canada's first robotic Water Feature otherwise know to us normal folks as Water Fountain. Don't mistake it though because it is energy efficient and entertaining, for you to discover. Safety Zone:(*----) Tough call as you can see other Yelpers loving this place. It's not a large place so SUCK it up and enjoy shopping at the 1 Official Men's Apparel shop of Barbuti Fine Men's Clothing. Although I had half a foot inside Aldo and Browns footwear myself. On a perfect weather evening, its great to enjoy a brief walkthrough of shops such as Ko's Gift Shop, Anthropologie{which I almost walked in following a couple ladies}, Salomon, Guess, Mexx, then end the night at one of the patios of any Restaurant. Exit Strategy:(***--) I believe if you came here in the first place, EXIT strategy is already too late for you unless the idea was only to come here for a meal. There's a Town Square open area that leads everywhere but there's no point because the shops are actually reasonable/affordable considering that the design of this place can initially intimidate someone and lead to think that it is more upscale than other malls. I mean the only Jeweller is Symphony Diamonds while theres a good variety of Services, Medical, Personal Car & Health Services. Entertainment Level:(****-) I quite like the entertainment factor here and I'm not talking about that Water Feature. The feature I speak of is the People Watching slash Automobile Watching factor. It is an outdoor space so you're always on a street or seating in a patio that overlooks the passing people or stationary but either one is cool while you sit on the bench. I miss the Don Mills Centre mall that was here, as a kid I used to visit this cool video game store and stocked up on Nintendo64 games. That was ages ago, hence the Nintendo64 reference. Cadillac Fairview, or CF as they call themselves now purchased this land and in their words "revitalized" it. Oh please, opening up high end stores like Panera Bread selling $10 macaroni & cheese bowls, $200-$300 purses from Michael Kors is not the revitalization of anything honestly. Only reason I come here in the winter is for the skating rink, which this year was not put up until the 3rd week of January... Yup! I've lived in the Overlea/Don Mills area for about 11 years and still live close to Shops at Don Mills. Majority of the folks here are low incomers, aside from the Metro grocery store, a majority of the foot traffic in this outdoor mall is not even from the area. Across the mall are old, broken apartment buildings that make you wonder just what in the world were they thinking opening up something like this. Well they make money regardless so I doubt corporations care for the "little man." Not a fan of outdoor malls, especially in Ontario. Reason this is the trend is because they're much cheaper to build than an indoor mall. Hey guys, we don't have to build a roof! If it's -20C with the wind chill, let everyone freeze to death buying our $200-$300 purses. Maybe they'll fork out $10 for macaroni just to get warm. Was downtown and the kids wanted to go skating. Thought that this was a better place because the family can skate and I can enjoy the indoors while they skated. They finally have a skate rental, which was awesome. Now I don't need to remember to bring skates. It was $5 for kids and $10 for adults. They have some really nice shops & the place is always clean, service is normally polite from most stores but don't come if you're a bargain hunter. The shops put on special events which is really rad. Yoga some mornings, jazz fest & a lot of other events. I think that's really cool. I really like this mall, and happy that it survived the Winter. An upscale, but not pretenious with affordable goods, and stores we've never seen before in Toronto. In the summer it's wonderful, with outdoor musicians and performances. The whole mall is outdoor, so walking around it's nice. In the Winter, I only came here to go to a specific store, and that's it. I think the valet parking is useful esp if you are clear across on the other side, and don't feel the need to brave the cold and walk back. read more

You can come and relax here during summer time. My favourite spots are the Aroma Espresso bar patio, where you can get tanned and enjoy the beautiful view and Joey's patio. There's plenty of indoor parking spots available. This mall is full of good looking people who dress up and enjoy warm weather in style and shop for even more stylish clothes at the MK, BCBG, Aritzia, Anthropology and Banana Republic. There's definitely a good vibe here. You also get to sample David's tea's refreshing cold fruity beverages when it's hot out there. read more

I LOVED this strip mall. I thought it had a great personality! and what a LOVELY place in the summertime. There were mini parkettes, with lots of children and families - so fun on a gorgeous summer evening. One family had brought their boom box and were dancing to their favoruite tunes - it was so fun to watch! having said that it makes me wonder though what this place will look like for the rest of the year considering the winter weather conditions in the city?!! Would a strip mall suffice?? I tokk a brief walk through so i'm not certain what retail stores they have there but from what i could see they seemed to have everything and more - really great sized retail stores and tons of restaurant options - which was fantastic! I need to return here to keep exploring - however before the winter kicks in, thats for sure. It was only a 20 min drive from Bloor - not bad at all! read more
