    Salmon?

Oh my. I'm at a loss for words. I went last night with 3 friends, all of whom had been before and I see why. It's a cozy little place in a strip mall on Route 9 with plenty of parking. The web site said no parties over 4 but there was a table set up for 7 so maybe there are exceptions. It *is* a smallish place, a few tables and a bar in the front, some tables further back. But charming, with a cozy friendly ambience. Chef Dave came through as we were getting settled and gave a friendly greeting as he came by. The wait staff was helpful, pleasant and efficient. The bartender is a magician if the French Kiss I enjoyed is any indication. My dining partners had sauvignon blanc which they enjoyed (okay, I had a glass too after I finished my French Kiss). We had many many questions about the menu and the specials and our waiter--wish I had gotten her name--answered patiently and came back multiple times before we were ready to order. We shared a Burrata salad which was delish. I had the Prime Filet with mashed potatoes and haricot vert with a demi glacé. Cooked to perfection! My mouth is watering just remembering. My companions had the pan seared halibut, another similar seafood dish I don't recall--salmon maybe?--and the lemon roasted half chicken. Raves all around. Okay I won't lie, the steaks and a couple of the seafood dishes were expensive so I'll have to pace myself regarding a return, much as I'd love to eat here regularly. But I truly can't wait to return. I envy those whose proximity and budget allow them to be the regulars warmly greeted as we sat there enjoying our meal. Kudos to Chef Dave and the staff!

Excellent. Highly recommend the French Kiss, crab cakes and lamb chops (which were generously sized). Location was a bit unusual (in the same complex as Star Market) but parking is plentiful so not complaining! Small dining room, call ahead as it can be hard to get tables for that reason. Service was great, our server was personable and attentive even though wait staff was lean. The vibe was refined but not suffocatingly formal. We even met the chef who seemed really down to earth ! Great place for a nice night out with a small group of friends.

Our go to in Newton! We live close and are somewhat regulars here. Staff is amazing and chef Dave is the best! Such a warm classy vibe in there - very cozy. We love the ribs and the veal chop along with everything on the menu! Bar: Antonio always makes the dirty martini of my dreams! Also a great wine selection! So happy we have this gem here!

Restaurant with terrific food and vibe. The crab cakes are the best I've ever had. I also recommend the Manhattan.

I've been going to Sycamore since I first discovered it in 2014. Back then, it was on my way home…read morefrom work, and I'd stop in a couple times a month--sometimes more. Post-COVID, life looks a little different. I've changed jobs and moved to another town, so it's no longer the easy drop-in it once was. Still, I make a point to come back at least every few months. What hasn't changed is the consistency. This remains one of the most reliably excellent restaurants in the Boston area, and still one of my all-time top five--while others that once held that spot haven't quite held up. One thing has changed, though: the Ghost of Mary. Scotty, the former bar manager, created what's still my favorite cocktail of all time. When he left, the drink left with him (by mutual agreement), and while he generously shared the recipe with me, I've never quite managed to recreate it at home. It was clearly meant to be made by the expert. That said, Sycamore hasn't missed a beat. The space is still as comfortable and quirky as ever, the food remains consistently excellent, and the current bar program is in very capable hands. The cocktails are thoughtful and well-executed--just maybe don't remind me about the one I'm missing

Sycamore is SPECTACULAR!!!…read more Newton centre is probably one of my favorite cities for date night and afternoon shopping. They have some great places to shop and dine and Sycamore is one of them. We have been here multiple times and everytime is better than the last. From the Managers greeting to the service, and atomosphere, Sycamore sure knows how to make customers feel seen and heard and their bellies happy :) We came here after attending a wine tasting not far from here and were able to grab some bar seats. They have a great cocktail and wine list; I always have a hard time choosing just one. I went with a vodka drink called Nothing Rhymes Orange and my husband had a beer. Since we were not that hungry he ordered the Chorizo Croquettas and I had my favorite salad in the world (not kidding) their Kale Salad. Let me just tell you 1. if you don't like kale, you will love this salad. Just the way they make it and the flavors/crunch will make your mouth water 2. you will eat the whole thing. 3. trust me. If there is one app that you need to order its the chorizo croquettas, OMG. They are like little small drops of heaven and there are only 3 so if you plan to share I would recommend ordering more than just one. For dessert, we ordered an Espresso Martini. The only thing that was missing is the coffee beans but still good. Thanks Sycamore for another fabulous dinner and evening. Thanks Kale Salad for being the best ever. I know I will be back for another one sometime soon. Cheers~

I came here for the first time in years this past Friday with friends and had such a lovely time…read more While waiting for our movie to start next door, I decided to quickly reserve a table for us to have a late dinner afterward. I had made the reservation for 9:15. The movie ended early (by 9) and I turned on my phone to find 4 missed calls from them...oops! They were so nice, calling to make sure I knew the kitchen would close at 9:30. How nice of them to want us to know it would be a tight window. The restaurants decor is gorgeous. Lots of greenery, fun patterns, and artwork. The waitress was so kind and got our drink and food in asap. My friend and I split the vodka pie with a side of ranch to dip the crust (greatest menu item EVER by the way). It was the perfect amount for two. The pizza crust was textbook. Soooo good and even better dipped in ranch. I was skeptical of the red peppers and onions on it but it was such a delicious combination. I will be back for more!

**1 Star - An Unacceptable Experience from Start to Finish**…read more We chose Bianca's Woodfire & Grill to host our engagement lunch because we wanted our families to enjoy a special celebration together. Instead, it became one of the most stressful parts of our engagement. Before signing our contract, communication was prompt albeit short/abrupt. The moment they received our deposit, communication became even worse. Getting in touch with anyone became incredibly frustrating. We sent multiple emails, used their online communication portal, and made repeated phone calls simply to confirm our final guest count and discuss an extremely important food allergy. My niece has a documented **anaphylactic sesame allergy**. We repeatedly communicated this to the restaurant, and our contract explicitly states: *"Allergies: please ensure that no tree nuts or sesame are used in any of the dishes, sauces, or ingredients. Culinary team to ensure no cc cross contamination is involved during preparations."* After multiple emails and phone calls--and after being passed among 3 different Bianca event coordinators -- we were finally able to speak with someone who assured us the allergy information had been noted. On the day of our event, no manager greeted us or checked in with us at any point. We were assigned a server who told us she had never handled a party of our size before. During service, drinks were spilled on our guests. The most alarming failure, however, was the food itself. Both the salad and the karaage were served with **visible sesame seeds**, despite our repeated conversations and the written allergy accommodation in our contract. We personally saw the sesame seeds on the food and took photographs documenting them. This was not a misunderstanding or a hidden ingredient--it was plainly visible on dishes served to our party. When you're dealing with an anaphylactic allergy, this is not a minor oversight. It is a potentially life-threatening mistake. After the event, we contacted Bianca's to make them aware of this serious error and to express how disappointed we were. Once again, we received no response. No apology. No acknowledgment. No explanation. Nothing. Then, nearly a month later, the first communication we received from them was a **$400 bill**. For anyone wondering whether this account is accurate, we have retained documentation of everything: photographs showing the sesame seeds on the dishes that were served, our signed contract containing the allergy accommodation quoted above, and multiple email correspondences requesting confirmation before and after the event that went unanswered. The lack of professionalism, communication, accountability, and attention to a documented life-threatening allergy is deeply disappointing. Special events require trust. We trusted Bianca's with our engagement celebration and with the safety of our guests. They failed on both counts. I sincerely hope no other family has to experience what we did. Do not trust them to handle any special events.
