Eggs Benny were awesome - homemade sauce the best. Kids loved the pancakes and portion sizes.

Had The Usual breakfast. The portion was large and the price very reasonable. Service was decent so no complains. Food was average but we're talking about eggs hashbrowns and ham so hard to mess that up. I would return to eat there again. read more

Was looking for a breakfast place on our way home from whistler and found this little gem! Had a window seat where you could see the mountains. Beautiful! Breakfast was delicious! Had the normal 2 eggs but ordered a banana coconut pancake. Sooooo good! I didn't love the breakfast potatoes but my bfs fries were amazing! His beef dip melt was also very good. Loved the toast! I think the bread is homemade. I would go back here in a heartbeat! read more

I've lived in Squamish 15 years and keep trying to give these guys a chance. Worst attitude along with terrible service. With all tables taken or dirty I sat my bad back at cleanest table. After being ignored for 10 min because I was at a "dirty" table I brought the 2 plastic cups and tea pot to the bar. Apologized for seating myself and asked if I could still be served. With the roll of the servers eyes she told me I'd have to wait for a clean table and didn't appreciate the dirty dishes on her clean counter. I went I Fergies, look it up! Very rude servers and ignored us most of the time the way they work is not right and the way they treat people is awful

I asked if the Hollandaise Sauce was scratch made before I ordered Eggs Benny . The waitress said it was . Then when I got it I knew it wasn't scratch made . It tasted disgusting . The owner lied and also said it was home made . They buy it in a bag and drop the bag in boiling water to heat up. I talked to a cook in the kitchen who told me the truth . read more

All the good food reviews drew us to this place but when we walked in and saw the "seat yourself" sign but only tables for 2 (there were 4 of us) we didn't want to be rude and pull 2 tables together without asking first. I tried to make eye contact with 2 women who blatantly turned their back on me and then when I said "excuse me" and made eye contact with one woman behind the counter, she looked at me and then turned away again! She definitely heard me. It wasn't loud or terribly crowded. I finally got the attention of someone and asked if it would be ok to pull 2 tables together and she said please wait and we will figure it out. Then after standing in the doorway for 5 minutes and seeing that the waitress I spoke with (short lady with piercings and green hair) was casually hanging out chatting with the other waitress but still avoiding our eye contact, we decided they were definitely ignoring us and not going to help seat us together so we left. Very disappointing as every other Canadian we encountered on our trip was overly nice and welcoming. Not this place. We ended up at this cute cafe just down the way called Zephyr and it was lovely. read more

Went here today with some alright people. Pretty hungover and just wanted some real good food for the soul. Went here for the eggs, left with eating the best strawberries I've ever tasted. Tip : If you're a little hungry while waiting for your food, don't hesitate to try the little samples of peanut butter and jam. I tell you what.. Delicious. read more

The service here has gone way down hill. Being told by a waitress that your food will "come as it comes" is completely unacceptable. I went in for breakfast this morning and was wowed. I asked a few locals which placed they recommended for breakfast and they insisted that I went to Chef Big D's. I am glad I did. They had fantastic gluten free toast and honestly the best omelette I have ever had. I will be in Squamish on business again this week and will definitely go there for breakfast as part of my trip. read more

Went in for Sunday Breakfast. Staff were uninspired. While there was seating vacant to accommodate 10 and a line up at the door, more time was spent lining up the tables than trying to bus them and get the customers seated. Finally sat down at a partially cleaned table - which sat un-bussed for over 5 minutes. Server came over with a "I'm not that interested in serving you attitude." Dropped menu's and disappeared. Waited and waited to be asked about drinks and to have the table wiped down. Staff gadding about near the til and moving at glacial speed. Got up and walked out. Went to Mountain Man up the street. Maybe not as hip as Big D's but food was reasonable and best of all people behind the counter and in the kitchen were pleased to see us and serve us. Won't be going back to Big D's unless someone can convince me that the place has improved its service. read more

Gave this place two tries before posting to see if the first bad experience was an anomaly. Nope! They are still the same unfriendly joint. Aside from the poor customer service, the wait for food is terribly long. The food is undoubtedly great but waiting 30 minutes during down time is ridiculous. read more

Awesome. A great reward for getting off the highway. The food is really good, and can be either pretty fresh, or simply diner fare if you wish it. I had the mountain man breakfast and had to take some home. Made for a great snack . The staff make it the place that it is. read more

Squamish's Chef Big D's was an excellent culinary experience. A group of five, we walked in just prior to the kitchen closing at 3PM but we were warmly welcomed. The menu seemed a bit pricey compared to the humble decor, but the first bites immediately proved that this was worth the bill. Fresh, homemade, handcut fries, homemade burger patties, bakery fresh buns and breads... this is good ol' home cooking. When we're next in Squamish we will certainly drop in again. I recommend you do the same! read more

Still bothered about what happened there...We were waiting long for a table, so I grabbed some menus so we can know what to order. The waitress snatched it out of my hands and yelled, "'Scuse me, but wait your turn for a clean table!" In a nasty way. She could have just said, " oh, would you like to see the menu?" She turned out to be our server and I tipped her 10%. This has guaranteed me never to go back there and recommend all my friends in Squamish to never eat there. read more

Walked into Lilith Fair, er I mean Big D's and can only reiterate the other reviews. Went in prepared to have a large brunch with my wife. Waited 10 minutes at a dirty table when begrudgingly the server passed by and we asked for a menu. She told us to find a clean table. We explained that when we walked in there were no clean tables. She pointed to a table literally in the center of the restaurant floor. We said we would prefer the table we were at because it was along the wall. She said somebody would be along when they were free to clean our table. My wifes face said it all. I asked her what she thought and she said "what a rude way to treat us". I then stood up and said lets get out of here. We ended up down the street at the White Spot which was much busier. We were seated and served within minutes, and more importantly, we were treated with respect and dignity. I sure am glad our $50 dollar brunch bill went to a place that actually made the attempt to treat us well(and was cooked perfectly). I can safely say, I won't be going to Big D's anytime I pass through Squamish. read more

Don't go with more than 2 people. The place is seat yourself "when you find a clean table". We came with 5 and stood there for 20 mins with no one acknowledging us. I finally asked if they could help find us a place to sit. They were pretty annoyed with the question and told me "not really." The staff was really unhelpful and looked unhappy to be working their. We waited for a very long time in the line up this morning. The restaurant is self seating, however, there is a sign indicating you must wait for a table to be cleaned. Once the server starting cleaning a table for 3, we moved to sit down in order to relieve congestion at the front door - people were waiting outside. There were 3 mugs and a dish cloth left on the table - all other plates had been removed. The moment we sat down, the server did not return and began cleaning other tables. There was zero communication. After another long wait, I approached the server to apologize if we had interrupted her cleaning process. she let me know that we had not, however, indicated she would not be serving us until we returned to the line up at the door and waited for another empty table! She was not prepared "clean around us - wiping the table and removing the 3 mugs" She had not, however, planned to communicate this either so was just going to let us sit there. I don' t think i have ever been treated more rudely and will obviously never return. read more

The clubhouse sandwich is simply the best ever. If you talk to the chef, he will take real pride in telling you about how he sources his ingredients; free range hormone free turkeys, etc. The fries are real potatoes. One of the fun things of being there is to watch the plates go by and say to your self: I will have that next time. Every thing wife and I have eaten there is great. read more

We went to Chef Big D's twice for breakfast this past weekend. The place was super packed as it was Squamish Fest, but despite the long wait time the staff and food were still fantastic. Staff were particularly accommodating of out-of-towners who aren't familiar with the sit-wherever-it's-clean rule and were super polite and friendly despite the festival chaos. Get a loaf of the house-made sourdough bread to go. Beyond delicious. read more

Chef Big D's has only gotten better over the years. Every time I go there I get my favorite server, Irene! She is so attentive and always friendly. Not only do you get quality breakfast/ lunch but you get quantity! So if you plan on going to this place, bring an appetite! read more

Went to Squamish today, thought we'd try Big D's as we have friends who run tours to Whistler and ask us to check out this restaurant. We walked in... Waited over 10 minutes and saw there was a dirty table by the door with a sign that said they'd "get to it as soon as they could", we thought we would try to help by cleaning it up so all it had to do was be wiped down. We sat there as there were three couples behind us waiting. The other people were seated and got coffee and menus. When the blue haired waitress came by my wife asked if we could get the table cleaned and some menus please. The waitress pointed to the sign and said "we'll get to it when we can... Then proceeded to take care of other tables and both her and the tall waitress in the orange shirt and ignore us... We waited 5 more minutes and walked out... To another Restaraunt down the street who said they'd be more than happy to have the business on a regular basis year around. Needless to say Big D's is now on the no go zone for the tours... read more
