I'll give this a 3.5 more than a 4. Had better cheesesteaks but it was bad for the price.

Disgusting!!!! I went to the deli. The cook made my sandwich on the grill without gloves. The place was dirty and was patched up with packing tape. Deli feels filthy and unkept. I wouldn't be surprised if it is rat infested. I am surprised that the health department has not shut them down. read more

Mikes' has, well.... a great cheese steak! I like mine with cheese whiz and provolone, which they gladly fulfilled, and then I grab a can of soda from the fridge and have a great lunch/dinner/afternoon snack. The menu has a number of sandwiches, appetizers, and pizzas that I haven't tried yet, and pretty decent fries with a light crisp and a dash of seasoning. I recently went to Philadelphia and tried the 'original' cheesesteak places and, let me tell 'ya, I much prefer Cheesesteak Mikes. But apparently any Philadelphian will tell you where to get a really good cheesesteak other than the touristy places. Meanwhile, I'll go to Mike's. I hope to try their other sandwiches soon, and just a hint; get the Super Cheese Steak for an extra dose of goodness. read more

Ordered 4 Cheesesteak subs. I am giving them 2 stars beating they didn't mess up the order. The fries and onion rings were good. The subs were the smallest subs I've ever seen. The roll was the size of the rolls you buy in the bread section of a grocery store. When I buy a sub I am expecting a full size 12" sub. I won't be buying any more subs from here. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Unhygienic. Not acceptable. Sub sandwich was un edible. The fries weee awful. Place was was not clean.

Hands down the best cheesesteak I've had. I got a steak with cheese wiz and it was incredible! Great bread to meat to onion to cheese ratios, and the flavors were outstanding! Can't wait to order from them again! read more

Nice local place with a limited, yet delicious menu. The homemade potato chips are NOT to be missed. Carryout is good, but the real gem is the small dining area and bar in the rear. read more

This spot is really an hidden gem where you normally would see and pass by without knowing that it serves such amazing and delicious food. I saw this place from TikTok and I was curious to see how it was like since the creator of the video said that it was very excellent and that he would come again. So I gave the place a try and ordered the bulgogi and LA galbi lunchboxes along with the half and half Korean Fried Chicken and the boardwalk fries. I did not regret it all and it's very very tasty together with the crazy cheap values. Now this place is definitely somewhere I would come back to eat their delicious food. 100% recommend this spot those who are craving Korean food or a good old-fashioned cheesesteak sub. read more

The food was amazing!! The cheesesteak was fresh! I also had salad and fries! Boardwalk fries amazing!! Salad pretty good too! read more

So surprised. Only went because of the great reviews. I drive past it pretty regularly and it's pretty crappy looking from the outside. My husband and I called in a pick up order. It took a few minutes longer than they said, but it was well worth it. My husband said his cheesesteak was excellent. My Korean fried chicken was very good. The young man and woman who were at the counter were extremely nice. A deaf woman came in while we were waiting and the woman at the counter took extra care in making sure she got the order right. Will definitely go again. read more

If you are passing through or you live locally you need to stop in and taste the deluxe cheesesteak you will not be disappointed. I have never had the pleasure of visiting this location. I live in NC and my brother in law works not too far from Mikes and we were talking about the crappy cheesesteak I ate here in NC. He was hungry for one so I yelped this place for him and after reading the reviews I told him he had to bring one back for me. He's a great brother in law and he did just that. Now I had to eat my cheesesteak a little less than a day later and it was delicious. I can only imagine what it would taste like if I ate it fresh. This is the way a cheesesteak should taste. When we pass through we will definitely make a point to stop in and have it fresh. If you are local you need to stop in and have an amazing cheese steak. read more

Our family was wondering if Cheesesteak Mike's had survived the pandemic. We were delighted to see on their website that they have their old sandwiches, but are also offering Korean food and we tried it for lunch yesterday. We loved it! We ordered more than enough for three: Cheesesteak Bulgogi Chicken Katsu (especially liked the pickled cabbage and radish) Dak Gang Jeong (crispy with great sauce and rice cakes are truly unique--crispy and chewy at the same time, what I imagine my mother would have fed me when I was a sick child, if she had been Korean) Sweet Potato Fries We had it delivered, and everything was carefully packaged and arrived hot. As we unwrapped it, we realized the Dak Gang Jeong was missing. We called, and it was delivered (along with extra sweet potato fries) before we were halfway through our first courses. We like businesses that take care of their customers. We can't wait to order again! read more

This is my first time here. Decided to get the gyro platter for $8.95. Comes with rice and salad. Since this was my first check-in on Yelp here I also got free order of boardwalk fries for first time check-ins. Everything was seasoned well and tasted delicious. Noticed on their menu that they have cheese steaks with cheese whiz, which is the only way i like them. This is awesome because most places only give you either provolone or American cheese. Can't wait to come here again to try the cheese steaks. Not a lot of room inside, so you might want to take your order to go. The owner was very friendly and i love their prices. read more

I owe Craig my firstborn for opening my eyes to this place. It really does look extremely sketchy! But the Philly style cheesesteak is to die for. I want to keep this place's ratings at five stars, but it's just so run-down that it goes against my star-giving policy. I saw that it was wrapped first in a sheet of foil and then in paper - this keeps the sandwich from getting too moist, which I appreciated since I had to delay my pleasure for 20 minutes while I drove home. The bun is perfect - a little chewy, soft on the inside and a little firm on the outside. The steak itself is thin-sliced and tasty. The onions were sauteed to perfection, and the cheese...Well, I had to settle for American cheese because (...wait for it...) they don't have Whiz. [crickets chirp] I went with Craig's suggestion and tried the homemade chips, which were beautifully greasy. I thought they were a little over-seasoned, but the chips that didn't get too much seasoning were really delicious. I still highly recommend these chips. Other helpful tips: - There's a sign that says CASH ONLY, so I assume that they take cash only. - I paid around $8 for my cheesesteak and chips. - They sell "ice cold beer." - Mike's is located at the corner of a little strip right next to Exxon on New Hampshire near the 495 exit. - This is not a place to bring the kids - I got harassed for a quarter by a drunk at 4pm. Enjoy! read more

I got a Corvette for under $7 bucks. Har Har. Yes the sub is called the Corvette. And it is sleek and yummy. It's one of the more basic offerings at Cheesesteak Mikes. No frills - steak, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, and hot peppers. The steak arrived piping hot, and I actually grabbed one (of the two) tables in the dining area. The steak was good. It was greasy. The quality of the meat was different than other steak joints. And I mean that in a good way. There is apparently a bar in the back - although I don't know if it's open to patrons during the day. Last time I went, 1 of the 2 tables in front was occupied by a worker's friend's family or something. So, maybe you should plan on carry-out for this one. read more

Cheesesteak Mike's looks extremely shady and dingy. The front door is a take out only entrance and they don't have any fountain drinks (that I'm aware of). They have a bar/seating area/bathrooms through the back door of the restaurant. That being said, I still gave them five stars. The food here is fantastic. All you need to get is a cheesesteak (made the way you like it) and some homemade chips. The steak is cooked perfectly and the rolls are hard on the outside and soft in the middle. Delicious! The homemade chips are to die for. Spicy and thin, these suckers have some bite to them. Grab yourself a cheesesteak, some chips and a bottled soda/water and prepare to be floored. read more

I work like 2 minutes away and pass by at least twice a day. If it weren't for yelp, I would not have stopped because it looks very dodgy. I mean seriously, between two gas stations, in a strip mall-ette with a TV repair shop (do those still exist?) and a pawnbrokers. Bleh. But the sandwiches are really good! If you're hungry (like me), you probably want the double meat cheese steak. And you probably want it with lettuce-onion-tomato-no mustard-mayo and American cheese (no wiz here). They also have strange hours. All I remember is that they're open until 8:30pm on Th and Fri (but close earlier on M-W) and have really short hours on weekends. The guy who takes your money, I suspect his name is Mike because he acts like the owner. He's pretty nice. I'm dinging a star because it seems a bit pricey for the location and the location itself is kind of scary for a single female. read more

Meh. I'm originally an ill Philly resident. Cheesesteak Mike's is probably the best place in the area, but at the same time, it isn't good. If you don't get extra meat, expect your "cheesesteak" to be fairly lacking in substance. -1 star. They don't have cheese wiz. This is a glaring mistake for anyone who claims to serve cheesesteaks. -1 star. Go for South Street Steaks in Bethesda instead, if you can. read more

Best cheesesteak in the area! Omg! I love good food and this place is a hidden gem! My husband and I tried it on a whim because I didn't feel like cooking dinner, as we just returned from an away trip. I'm glad we tried this place. The Philly cheesesteak and fries were super delicious! We will definitely return! read more

3.5 I was conflicted on the rating Cheesesteak Mikes should get, but I think 3.5 will suffice for now. First thing I tried on the menu was the Cheesesteak. As a matter of fact, it was the Cheesesteak combo that came with Boardwalk Fries and a drink ($9.50). The cheesesteak was decent, but those fries were the highlight of the night. I was more intrigued in finishing those fries more than the cheesesteak itself. The second visit consisted of an order of Chicken Tenders with a side of those Boardwalk Fries again. Once again, the fries were on point. With that being said, the three huge tenders were seasoned abundantly and ended up being tremendous. So what am I trying to tell you throughout this review? Boardwalk Fries - get them. Good luck with parking in front of the restaurant: there are not too many parking spaces in front, and consider the fact that Cheesesteak Mikes shares parking with a couple of stores on the strip. read more

I've been craving a great steak and cheese and when I read the reviews for Cheesesteak Mikes, I had to give it a try. Located on New Hampshire Ave: Tip: make sure you slow down or you will miss the parking lot. I was surprised that its not a true restaurant, but more of an order and go place (Mom & Pop). The cheesesteak was average. I haven't had a craving to return. Decent quick food. read more

This restaurant deserve one start or zero. I call order some food, they told me half or 35 minutes. I call back one hour later to check what time my food was coming, the delivery guy say I was in the place, I WILL NEVER GOING TO ORDER FOOD FROM THIS PLACE. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO ANYONE, BECAUSE THEY ARE LIARS. read more

Ordered a cobb salad today. It comes with lettuce, tomato, egg, avocado, bacon, blue cheese, and either chicken or turkey. Sounds delicious right?! NOT! Such a disappointment. I received a to-go container full of wilted ice berg lettuce, two slices of BROWN avocado, what looked like half of a boiled egg sliced into three pieces, minimal bacon, minimal blue cheese, and rubber chicken. The only good thing was the container of salad dressing. #NeverAgain read more

Food was delicious. Service was good. I got the D.G.J - Dak Gang Jeong. My co-worker got the Bulgogi. But the portions were a bit small for what I paid for it but I guess that's inflation. The cheesesteak is roughly the same quality as "Jerry's" or a grill in a shopping mall food court. The onions are cooked from raw, and are not slowly caramelized. "Boardwalk" fries were oily and soggy. Carry out in front. Family style pub in back. Owner is a nice guy. He just confirmed he bought it in March 2009. (ie that's when the management change occurred) I will not eat there again. read more

From the outside, Cheesesteak Mikes looks like a shady establishment. However, once you step foot inside, you are welcomed by one of the hidden mom & pop establishments Silver Spring has to offer. I'll keep it short and simple, like their menu, get the cheesesteak. They are the best in the area. Truly comparable to a Philly cheese steak. The fries are delicious. The prices are fair. If you seek comfort food or are from the Philadelphia area and miss a truly, good cheesesteak, come to Mikes to get your fix. read more

I was very surprised that this restaurant is actually pretty good. The outside looks a little run down/ odd since they sell lottery tickets. It is a blend of many cuisines. I had the chicken gyro sandwich and it did not disappoint. I also had the boardwalk fries loved the seasoning salt it was very good. Awesome place for lunch but there isn't too much of a seating area better to get it to go. read more

Kudos to you! The food is well prepared and the service is outstanding! I occasionally stop in for a cheesesteak and have never been disappointed. Julie (server/bartender) is a gem. Such a great little place! Their delivery service is speedy and the food is still great, never soggy from waiting to be delivered. The chicken cheesesteak, the Mercedes, is delicious. Not a typical Chicken cheesesteak, more flavor to the chicken and not that cut up chicken steak that is usually found on a cheesesteak. They are like little chicken chunks that have been grilled. Their chicken kabob on a salad is delicious. There is so much flavor from the chicken and grilled veggies that its not even like eating a salad. The other option is getting the chicken kabob put on a pita kind of along the lines of a gyro minus the yogurt sauce. You can't go wrong with any of these. I have only ever gotten delivery, never actually been there. It's an odd location tucked into a small strip mall in a busy area of New Hampshire Ave. Either way, as long as they're delivering I will keep eating it. read more

A Hidden Gem: Yesterday was my first time there and I was thoroughly impressed. The place looks a little run down and it's not easy to access initially, but it is so worth it. The only thing gourmet at Cheese Stake Mikes are the people. If your local or in the era it's a nice local sandwich place with a very small hole in the wall pub in back. And the spicy pork bowl with Kimchee can't be beat read more

Walked in at 7 on a Thursday night down the side alley and through an unmarked door. There was only one lone patron playing pinball in the corner of the bar. Not a great first impression. Yet the staff was extremely friendly and got me a rolls royce philly cheesesteak (mushrooms included) and a beer in a hurry. The sub was quite delicious but not that plentiful in quantity (I'm spoiled by Philly area cheesesteak). The friendly service and great taste means I will be back for more, perhaps trying one of their food specials (I think I'm going to try the Bentley). read more

Our family has been enjoying this little place for years. Although they have some tables for service, we typically order takeouts. The cheesesteak has always been excellent, with onions perfectly cooked, but our favorites here are the chicken kabobs which were added to the menu a number of years ago after a change of ownership. The chicken is always moist and flavorful, rapped in rolled pita bread. Unfortunately, they recently stopped delivering though we are fortunate to be close enough for pick up. read more

The best thing here is the management change. The new owners have really cleaned it up and the food has become constantly good well priced.
