My family loves Cheddar's and we have been to many locations for dine in and take out. Typically our experiences are excellent, but our visit to this location last week was absurd. We arrived at the Cheddar's and were immediately seated. We spent 20 minutes trying to flag down someone to wait on us. We did have a server come by and tell us that our server would be right over...that girl and the person we believe was our assigned server continued to walk past our table and not even consider stopping. While still sitting in our booth being ignored, I placed our order for to-go on the app and we walked to the bar and waited for our food there. We told the hostess what happened and she did not seem to care...We were allowed to eat our food in the bar area (as opposed to our car in the parking lot), but basically had to beg to do so... Why am I giving 3 stars? Although the first few employees we encountered were awful, the girl manning the to-go section was VERY kind and accommodating! She brought us out some beverages while we waited and also brought our order out to us in the bar once it was ready. This was my second visit to Cheddar's. Unfortunately, this visit will probably be a deal-breaker for me ever returning. My criticism has nothing at all to do with the food or the wait staff. The food we had was good, and the server, Kelsey T, was great. My criticism has everything to do with poor management and their total disregard for the experience of "all" of their guests. After about a fifteen-minute wait, we were seated at a booth right next to a table of five; a family consisting of the two parent's three pre-teen kids. Typically that wouldn't be a problem but this time, the youngest of the kids (approximately 4 to 5 year old girl) continually screamed and screeched at the top of her lungs while the parents just sat there completely ignoring it, and sometimes laughing and encouraging it as if the behavior was something funny. When the server came back to take our order, I asked if we could be moved, motioning to the screaming child a few feet away. She acknowledged the screaming child and moved us to a booth on the other side of the room. For nearly the rest of our visit, this particular unruly child continued to scream and screech while the "parents" continued to ignore their out-of-control child; but at least now it wasn't mere feet from my ear. Shortly after our order arrived, another party, three adults and a small boy were seated at the booth directly behind us. Again, this typically wouldn't be a problem; however, within moments of them being seated, this child also began to scream and screech. His screams were so loud that it was actually painful in my ears. With each scream and screech, people from other tables were turning to look at the source of the noise. I decided to do my best to ignore both of the screaming kids and just eat my meal as quickly as possible just so I could get the hell out of there. Several minutes later the server came to the table to check on us. I told her other than the two screaming kids, everything was fine. She commented, "Yes, those two are really bad" and then went on to say, "My parents would NEVER put up with that from me when I was a kid." I agreed, telling her that if I or any of my siblings had ever done that, my father would have yanked us outside so fast it would make your head spin. She laughed and agreed that the same would've happened to her. By now the table with the screaming little girl was leaving, THANK GOD! Moments later, another server came by to see if everything was ok. I told him no, everything was not okay, that the screaming kids were making my experience a very bad experience, and that I just want to finish my meal and get out of there as quickly as possible. He agreed with my complaint and said he was going to get the manager and have him come over. A few minutes later the manager came to the table and asked if everything was alright. I told him no, everything was not alright, and then explained that the screaming kid in the next booth (who was actively screaming in front of the manager) was making enjoying the meal impossible. I told him, "Look around, I'm not the only one that has a problem with it!" I then said, "Can you please talk to the parents and ask the parents to control their kid?!" His reply was, "This is a family restaurant, and we're not allowed to do that." I replied by asking him, "Well what about my family and all of the other families?" To that, he simply said "I'm sorry" and then walked away. Well Mr. Manager, you're a sorry example of a manager. Part of being a manager is sometimes having to address problems including disruptive guests so that ALL of your guests (ALL families at your "family restaurant") can have an enjoyable experience! I'm sure if someone had a little too much to drink and was being as disruptive, you'd have no problem saying something to them and nipping that in the bud. Well Mr. Manager, screaming kids are just as disruptive to others as drunken adults are! And to whoever owns Cheddar's; if your policy is to prohibit managers from addressing disruptive situations involving children because "you're a family restaurant," then shame on you! Fortunately, there's no shortage of restaurants in the Melbourne area and along New Haven Avenue for me to spend my money at, so it's exceedingly unlikely it'll ever be at Cheddar's in the future since Cheddar's doesn't seem to be at all interested in providing a good experience to all of their guests. And to parents that can't control your kids... how dare you just tune your disruptive kids out so you can enjoy your meal! What about EVERYBODY around you that's also trying to enjoy their meal? Your job as a parent doesn't end at conception... it's just beginning! Your job as a parent after the fun part is done is TO PARENT, which includes controlling your kids and teaching them what's acceptable behavior and what's not! If you're cool with your kids being disruptive to everybody around them, then KEEP THEM THE HELL HOME WHERE THEY BELONG! read more

A party of 25 of us came here for a rehearsal dinner for my Best Friends wedding. We didn't mind waiting until they could sit us all, but didn't expect to sit at different booths not being able to converse with each other. the snooty waitress (not waiting on us)wouldn't allow any of our party to sit directly across from each othe because they have a "set up" for the number of party members we had. It would be different if the booths were occupied, but they were EMPTY!! My wife spoke to a manager who insisted that he could not move us. I too spoke with a manager and he still wouldn't allow us to sit at the empty booth across from our party. The family and I had an enjoyable dinner here at Cheddar's. I didn't really want to go to a Cheddar's for dinner. I've never liked cheddar cheese. All I knew about this place was that it was a chain restaurant with locations in Florida, Texas, and a couple other states. She gave us plenty of time to look at the menu. We ordered a Blackened Salmon with bourbon sauce for my wife, a child's mac n cheese, a sirloin steak and rib combo with mashed potatoes for myself. The waitress also suggested that we order their croissants, which we did. Their croissants were large and were basted with honey and butter. They are not the small Pillsbury ones that you get from the supermarket. They were jumbo, and were nice and soft. Honey buttered croissants were delicious! The wife's salmon was flavorful and moist. The bourbon sauce made the salmon taste great. The salmon also came with a side of rice and broccoli. My wife almost didn't want to share with me. My sirloin steak and rib combo came with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The barbecue ribs were okay. The steak was perfectly cooked for me. I should have ordered the steak with out the rib. The daughter loved their mac n cheese and finished everything. The prices at Cheddar's was very good and inexpensive. Everything that we ordered was under $15. What a nice little chain restaurant! On 11/13 we bypassed Sonny's barbecue which was walking distance from our hotel to travel 20 minutes only to be disappointed. On the surface our ribs look good but oh my once we bit into them they very dry and hardly able to chew. My husband ordered a chocolate cake that came with ice cream and when he saw it he was like "where is the rest of the ice cream" it's like somebody didn't want to fix it! I ordered the burger and specifically asked to have it cooked medium. It came out chewy like a twizzler and was super greasy. My friends' soup came out cold and my other friends' lemon pepper chicken had also dried out just waiting to be served in the kitchen. We gVe the desert shooters a try. First of all, the dessert shooters taste like of the fridge that they came out of. The smell like the freezer. The strawberry cheesecake dessert shooter does not have cream cheese in it, but rather tastes of a weird mix of ricotta. Very displeasing. The key lime dessert shooter was more on the bitter end, and there was more graham cracker than curd itself. Did I mention that our waitress THREW the dessert on the table? Like, if you can't carry a plate, you should not be a waitress. This was my second time dining here, and I'm definitely not returning. Cheddar's actually isn't bad, but I'd say it's more of a 3.5 star because it doesn't have that "special something" for me. Also, a lot of dishes are hit or miss, and/or excessively salty like I've read in other reviews. Some of my favorite dishes: * Chicken Tender Basket - The chicken is always so tender, and the breading has a good crunch on it. It tastes the best with buffalo sauce. * Chicken Tortilla Soup - Surprisingly really good. I never thought I could like a soup so much. * Honey butter croissants - The honey butter is everything. The croissants are nice and flaky and light. Easy to inhale. * Fish Tacos - The best I've had. Get it fried, of course. * Any Salad - They're really big and filling, and all the toppings add a good flavor. The serving sizes are generous, especially for the cost. Just be aware of the hit-or-miss factor though. This particular Cheddar's has a nicer interior compared to other locations I've been to. Service is typically good. After having a horrible time at my first cheddars, I left a bad review. Needless to say I got a call from Cheddars and a apology!!!! So I decided to give them one more chance! I got the bourbon salmon with rice, fries, and green beans for lunch. I ate 90% of it and was pretty full. The strawberry lemonade was to realllllllllly good!!!! Then the 3 mini desserts were soooo good! I got the chocolate trifle, and 2 strawberry cheesecakes. They were very good, but the strawberry cheesecakes were way better!!! I've been here several times, never really impressed or upset. This time (on Wednesday evening) I came with my kids ages 3 and 5. We waited almost 10 minutes to place drink orders, and ended up ordering the food at the same time. Over 30 min later it came out, kids happy because their chicken fingers were room temperature and therefore easy to eat. My burger was also the same temp, but I was tired of waiting. It also slid apart on the plate so I was putting it back together and noticed this depressing, wilted, lonely piece of lettuce. It made me laugh. The food was ok tasting and the waitress was polite despite the slow service. Maybe give your staff fewer tables? I met a relative here because it is the halfway point from where they live. I've been to other locations before and had a great experience. This one was crowded but we got right in. Food was excellent and came out pretty fast considering it was busy. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars? Will because I like to indulge in my cocktails and there is a two maximum limit on certain specialty drinks on the menu. How is that fair if you were not driving? While I was driving, so I guess it's better but I think that is still up to the customer to judge. Our server was excellent and very attentive.
