Although this is a large cookie-cutter theme restaurant chain this was my first time here. I would not have been my first choice but we were invited to join a family who we had attended church with and it was their choice. I try hard to see the difference between the increasingly long list of theme restaurants with cute names that are on every other block of virtually every city in America. I try but they all have the same formula of the feed bag mentality ... bland, overly-processed uninspired food usually served in embarrassingly huge portions to make their customers' eyes pop. There is nothing at this Cheddars location that would ever cause me to return, especially when I can choose from so many locally-owned and unique Tulsa restaurants where I can get real food. Although we visited mid-afternoon the after-church crowds were still knee deep. But the line moved fast and we were seated in less than a half-hour. Our server was stretched way too thin and the best word to describe his service is there wasn't much. We rarely saw him. That was most evident by one of our party ordering lasagne which didn't come with the garlic bread. She stopped employees repeatedly asking for her bread and kept being told it was still cooking. Still cooking?!?!? For almost an HOUR? When her cold piece of toast was finally thrown on her plate while we we paying the bill the excuse was that they couldn't find any garlic bread. My order was for country chicken fried chicken. I know what chicken fried chicken is but the waiter's description of it being served as either one piece or two pieces sounded more like traditional fried chicken pieces. I suggest to the restaurant that they use a more descriptive word like chicken "patties" or chicken "steak" to avoid disappointment from those guests expecting pieces of chicken. The positive is for ten bucks it is a lot of food. On the other hand the patties tasted like they were 90% water, they were extremely bland. To cap off the weird service, another server plopped down fresh full glasses of iced tea as we were paying the bill. Nice gesture but not only didn't we order them, it would have been nice to have them with our meal. Overall, Cheddars is as average as any other big corporate chain restaurant. My mom and I were so excited to go here. We used to have one in the last town we lived in and loved it. I got the half rack of ribs and chicken tenders combo and she got the vegetable plate. The ribs and chicken tenders were the only things that tasted okay. Everything else tasted old. The fries, corn, mushy green beans, and coleslaw were all pretty gross. We were honest with our server and said that it all tasted old. And she said that everything is made fresh each day. Today, the food was not quite right, but the manager, Mike, corrected the problem immediately. I know they just got a bad cut of meat because I order the same thing every time, but he insisted on compensating me. It tasted fresh and clean(as in no wilted lettuce pieces). I had a baked potato soup and he had the tortilla soup. Nothing bland or unsightly for either salads. The croissant if you decide not to get one then you would be missing out big time. The water with lemon the waitress had squeezed the lemon in the water. The price for food was great. No they don't drug test because they are trying to find people who can cope with people like you and actually try and be nice to them and serve them. So while this waitress was busting her butt actually having a job and working below minimum wage relying solely on tips you were in the corner digging through a paper judging her on her past. Kudos. Please from now on any restaurant that you walk into ask to talk to the manager first and make SURE they drug test. If not, please walk out. Have fun actually cooking your own meals. Incredible food at affordable prices. Not our first time to Cheddar's but this experience reminded me why we love this place so much. Each plate has large portion sizes, and the prices make it worth it. My husband loves the queso appetizer because you can choose to add meat in it. They also have a "lighter portion" on their menu with selections under 575 calories. Not to mention their bar selection is great! They have large margaritas for $3.00. I've been to Cheddar's quite a few times over the years and it's pretty good. They have a good menu and nice portion sizes at reasonable prices. Our waiter, named Ian, was one of the most pleasant waiters Ive ever had. He spoke kindly and check on us often, got us refills very quickly, and made my boyfriend and I laugh. Was a good dining experience. We will be back! Son had New Orleans pasta, hubby had steakhouse burger, and I had the monte cristo. Monte cristo was flavorful but a slight bit greasy on bottom. Sons blackened pasta was full flavored and delicious. Hubby's only complaint about burger was there were no onion rings unless you ordered an appetizer. Overall, with margarita, chip and queso appetizer, and those three meals, plus the onion rings as an appetizer were just 42.00, for everything. I have been going to Cheddar's since before I can remember because my mom loves their food and drinks, and I can't say I blame her. Although the atmosphere is nothing special, the food itself is definitely worth checking out, especially considering the price. I have tried just about everything on the menu, and I have never been disappointed. Some of my favorites include the Spinach Dip to start, Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad, the Monte Cristo sandwich, or the Chicken Tenders as an entree, and the Cookie Monster for dessert. This is always a favorite when we want something kind of like a Chili's / Applebee's / TGI Friday's type of meal but at a more reasonable cost. The food is always delicious and super plentiful so that I always have leftovers. He usually does, too, and that is a man who can eat. It's your typical American fast-food grill type of place (along the lines of Chili's, Applebee's, etc) but they do it better than anyone else in town. A rude hostess Victoria said there was not any seating open because their crew cleaned most of the tables & they were not seating anyone. No one came to serve us or even greeted us. We decided to leave & on the way out we noticed that she seated 2 other couples who came in after us in the area that was "supposedly" not available. Love coming here for the chicken tender dinner. The sides are really tasty too! This place serves what I consider comfort food so when I'm not feeling great or have had a bad day, this is where I want to go for lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is really nice; there is a large ceiling fan that I have always been fascinated with (like since I was a little kid). The only reason that Cheddar's only gets 3 starts (even though it's a place I go pretty often) is because the service is pretty hit or miss. Sometimes the service is at like an OK level (not even really good or great), but sometimes the service is downright terrible. Was so looking forward to trying this restaurant as I had heard their claim to fame was comfort food made from scratch. NOT....., all of the food tasted like poor frozen processed food. My son ordered the buffalo wrap with a side of Mac and cheese. To say my son had less than six bites of his food would be an understatement. Even my son was shocked that our server never asked how our food was nor did it seem a surprise to her we barely ate anything as the food was horrible. They said it was going to be up to a 45 minute wait, so we said okay and they took down my number to send me a text when our table was ready. 30 minutes in, we are noticing all these people that came and were waiting way after us, were going in ahead of us. Another 15 goes by and I ask why we haven't been sat yet. They wrote down my number wrong and didn't bother to come get us and tell us. All they said was "yeah we texted the wrong number and the number texted back saying it was a wrong number" then why didn't they come physically get us then? Ended up waiting another 15 minutes, TOTAL of one hour for a table. Took an additional 10 minutes to get our drinks. We ordered ONE ENTREE for my sister and I to split. Just a wrap and fries, that's it. We sat there for an additional 30 minutes without our food, we had to get up and leave. Told the management and all they said was "uh sorry". Let me start this off by saying I LOVE Cheddar's. Unfortunately, this location was a let down. The wait time wasn't too bad considering it was graduation night, and they were one of the few restaurants still open after 10 p.m. That's where the good experience stopped. We had two servers for 10 people, which became confusing for the servers. We told them in the beginning how to split the checks, and it was still incorrect. The servers were slow, considering they weren't working on as many tables as other servers. We had several dishes that were chipped, including a bowl for spinach dip.
