It's been a long time since I have had service this bad. We sat at their bar to have lunch, it was dirty, had to ask for it to be wiped down by the server "Isidro". Took 15 minutes for him to take our drink order. When I ran out of iced tea he just ignored the empty glass, when I asked for a refill he said he would and then never did. I had to ask twice. When my girlfriend's glass of sprite ran dry he refilled it with water. Really??? We wont be back. read more

Ok. 30 mins later I go ask and they say we're next, and when I ask what's something quick we could order (we had somewhere se to be) they said nothing, the kitchen was really slow. I really wanted to give a better rating....I feel like the only reason this place is in business is because other customers couldn't get into any place else. Our server started of really nice and friendly but, messed up the drink order, forgot sides and then didn't check on us (we were ready leave) for 45 minutes. The fried cheese was NOTHING but grease, chicken tenders had no flavor and we had to try and track down another server for basic needs like silverware and a to go box. Well that was deeeelish!! First off their fries were amazing.... I could have seriously just had a huge plate of fries and been happy. This was my first time at Cheddars and I will definitely be going again. The Smokehouse burger was amazing!! *see pic* and the prices weren't bad too. The burger it's self was less than $5 and the fries were another $2 but you can actually add any side. My friend got a top shelf margarita and it was huge and she said had a lot of alcohol and it was only $6!! I only came back to visit because cheddars manager personally invited me back to lunch and cheddars sent me a gift certificate because of the horrid first visit. It's a busy Sunday afternoon. Hostess Sat us at a booth. We began to look at the menu. Cody B. (waiter) came by and politely ask us for our drink orders. He was extremely wonderful! He came back our drinks and we ordered a triple treat. Nachos, potato skins and mot sticks. It was delish. It was enough for a family of 4 to share. I ordered a tilapia with mango salsa with edamame,& bake potato. Yum!! My children shared the grilled chicken Alfredo. They loved it. My daughter ordered the Caesar salad and it had a little too much dressing. The honey butter croissant was mouth heaven. My husband ordered a steak and tenders. He said the steak was ok. The tenders were pretty good. Overall it was not a bad place when you get better service. The food is actually good. Not a place to have a steak though. The bathrooms were clean. read more

Can't recommend this location... Been several times to cheddar's by the rim with good experiences... Total opposite for Selma location. 15-20 wait more like 30. Hostesses wandering with guests in tow trying to figure out where they were supposed to seat them. No server, then 2 show up, one right after the other. HAIRS IN FOOD!: After long wait for food, fried catfish arrived swimming in watery green bean juice (should have drained them better or better yet, served them in a bowl), then found a hair embedded in the top of tartar sauce, hostess started to take catfish back to switch out, and was going to leave hairy tartar sauce! Then found ANOTHER hair in my baked pototo! Not same type of hair either! YUCK! Asked for manager, took him 15 to arrive - may have been waitresses fault. He did comp our meal and offered replacement food, but we had lost our appetites! Manager also gave us his card for 2 free entrees next visit - but I don't think we'll be in a hurry to take him up on it. Almost 2 hours for lunch WE DIDN'T EAT! This time around, Cheddar's got it right! We were greeted upon entering and promptly taken to our table. The food was properly cooked (the buffalo chicken wrappers). We requested the buffalo sauce to be on the side, which they did. The fries weren't drenched in oil, wet, or mushy. The portion size was good enough to eat, get full, and have leftovers to take to go! The restroom was clean, the manager was friendly as well as the waiter. The manager gave us change and was really helpful. The waiter was super attentive even after we had already paid. We were told to have a great evening as we left. The interior is really cool! They are one of the only places that still has a Monte Christo sandwich on the menu and there's is good but they have changed the bread that they put on it and it's not nearly as traditional the raspberry dipping sauce is delicious and it's still good but it's not as good as it used to be all and although it's a great food for a very reasonable price read more

Cheddar Scratch Kitchen was recommended by one of our relatives on FB. Kinda leery since many of the customer reviews were castigating this restaurant chain for various reasons. Google reviews were at the 5 star level. As we entered we received a friendly reception and were led to a booth in the bar area. Not the best of locations but OK. Chris started & ended as our number one waiter. In between two others served us. Delivered the food and brought carryout boxes. My wife ordered their babyback rib special and I went for the Smokehouse Burger. One of the Appetizers on menu which we ordered was four Buttery Croissants for $2.99. There is none better anywhere. Food was plentiful & tasty. Side order of French Fries could be better displayed than spreading the fries over a large plate. Prices were reasonable. Our bill for rwo was under $26.00. read more

Management skills and organizational skills were lacking. Manager had us wait two hours for our table, which was fine, and once our two hours were up she added another hour then told us we could not be helped due to our party size and they were closing in an hour and a half. Wish she would have told us from the beginning instead of making us wait two hours for nothing. People were coming in and out and the ones that came after us were seated before us. I've been there five or six times now, so I thought it was time I wrote a review for them. As I've said in other reviews, I really want to like them, but there is just something keeping them from a four or five star review. Chicken fried steak, burgers, club sandwich and Monte Cristo sandwich were all excellent. The first of two downers I experienced was the fried chicken and waffles. The Belgian waffle was kinda dry and so were the chicken tenders it was served with. The second item that was a miss was the fish tacos. This was mainly because they were served on flour tortillas instead of corn. I'm normally not a fan of corn tortillas, but for some reason fish tacos requires corn instead of flour tortillas. The other item keeping them from four stars is their service. Sometimes the service is really good, but the majority of the time, it is very slow - for food as well as drink refills. It's not at the point where I wouldn't go back, but it is getting close. I've watched the wait staff and they are always busy, so I really find it hard to blame them - I think the bottom line is they need more wait staff. Staff was professional and polite, atmosphere and decor was beautiful and the food was amazing. I had the chicken pot pie and I have to say that it is the best one I have ever had. Recommended by a friend we decided to try it out today. We both ordered a cheeseburger. Neither of us could eat them. I'm pretty sure it wasn't even beef. The very sweet waitress wanted us to talk to a manager but we needed to go so we opted out. On the way home both of us felt sick to our stomachs. Not sure how they can say from scratch because they are not fresh or good. FrieS were good and the bread was yummy. We may try another time and stay away from the burgers. (Fingers get sticking from the honey butter). We asked for the silverware and napkins when our appetizer (spinach dip) arrived, but silverware and napkins did not arrive. (Originally ordered the cheese bites, but we were informed they were out of them) Our meals arrived: still no silverware or napkins. The jelly/jam was missing from the plate with the Monty-Christo sandwich. We had to ask again silverware and napkins and the missing jelly/jam. This place used to be great but for the past couple of months the cooks have gone from bad to worse! The wait time for our food was ridiculous and when it arrived we were beyond disappointed. The steak was half fat and missing the bourbon sauce they charged us extra for. The chicken fried steak was burned to a crisp. The manager brought us a new chicken fried steak in less than 5 minutes so it was unfortunately undercooked and inedible. We kept giving this place chances thinking they would eventually get good cooks again. Nope. The waiters have also been switched out too much meaning slow and forgetful service. One star each for: cleanliness, service, food/drinks and atmosphere. If it was a unique (not franchise) place, it would definitely get that extra star. I like that you can expect quality and consistency with the menu. My favorite adult beverage is their Painkiller. I have been to various Cheddars throughout the country and feel this one does have particularly nicer service than most. I have had most items on their menu, from soups/salads to burgers, fish, chicken and steak entrees. The croissant that comes with the salad is delish, and their caesar dressing does not taste canned. They have nailed the cook on my steaks every time, the burgers are constantly juicy and the chicken/fish have been cooked appropriately constantly as well. It is a go-to place for the family. It would be a bonus if they gave military discount ;). read more

I couldn't speak highly enough of this place. Right from the start, one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in a very long time. Granted, it was 7pm on a Thursday, so, it wasn't your typical weekend madhouse. Still, I've received far worse service in near empty restaurants, where the server had little else to focus on than me. First, my wife's and my server, Royce, was incredible. He was genuinely courteous and friendly. As a Customer Service agent myself, I know when courtesy is forced, and Royce's was not. I was admittedly undecided in my order, but, Royce asked me questions about my tastes and helped me come to a decision, rather than just giving me the standard, "I'll come back" line and walking away. Ultimately, I opted for the steak and ribs combo. My wife got her favorite dish on the planet, meatloaf and mashed potatoes. As a North Carolina native, I know barbecue. It's what we're known for. The ribs at Cheddar's were incredible. They literally fell off the bone. My steaks are, apparently, very hard to cook in restaurants. No one seems to understand the meaning of "rare". Normally, I accept what I get and choke them down. Cheddar's knocked it out of the park! My steak was outstanding. Back to Royce's service, while he was constantly on the move with multiple tables, he checked on us each time he passed. Any emptied dish was almost immediately removed from the table. Our glasses never got completely empty, as Royce would grab them on the move and refill them. All told, 5 stars does not do Cheddar's in Selma, TX justice. After a great birthday at Myron's, we decided to have some comfort food. We walked into a busy Sunday afternoon establishment. We were seated after a brief 30 minutes wait, and our waiter promptly took our order and delivered our drinks! My wife was very pleased with perfectly cooked chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes and sweetened green beans. My sons ribs were also tender and my daughters salmon was cooked and seasoned well.
