I have eaten at Cheddars Restaurants all over Texas since the late 80s. It's always been a good place to eat, but not necessarily over the top. However, this location on Eastman Road is without a doubt one of the best family restaurants in all of Longview. I was there tonight with my daughter on a little date night, and our waiter, Patrick, was uttterly superb! I never once had to ask for anything, be it refills, napkins, etc. The food is absolutely awesome, and I will give my recommendations to date. The Chicken Pot Pie and the Lemon Pepper Chicken are very tasty and wonderful. If you get a salad, it comes with a buttered croissant, and they are so light, flaky, and very tasty. If you want an appetizer, I strongly recommend the spinach dip with chips and salsa. The salsa is spicy, but not overbearingly so. Back to the service, quite simply, there are very few places in this town that have wait staff, and a manager that are this good. When I see a manager helping to deliver food and or clear tables, that is a place where they take pride in their work. The climate is very comfortable too, as it's not cold or hot, but just right. I decided to write a review for this place after waking up this morning with a major craving for Cheddar's. Too bad we're about 1,500 miles away. We ate here with my in laws back in November and the service was fast, and friendly. The place was really clean, and like I said, we had fast service even though it was pretty crowded (Friday around happy hour). The menu selection is large and varied. We ordered chips & queso, baked potato soup, a burger, baked spasagna, chicken strips, and fried shrimp. Everybody enjoyed their food, and we had enough left to take leftovers. i have eaten at Cheddars about 4 times, each time worse than the last. (my family forced me to go, again and again.) But no more. the service is the worst in history. and the food is hideous. the baked potatoes are almost rotten, with half a dozen black spots. the waitstaff is inadequate and terrible. the hostess people are ignorant. and the cooks mess up every other plate. the bartenders are always on break, and their drinks are horrible. Also, my mother was sickened with food poisoning twice from this very place. (don't ask me why they continue to give this restaurant a "second chance". i think it is just convenient. i will never ever go here again. Whataburger is far superior. read more

My younger son and I visited Cheddar's in Longview, Texas last night on Saturday, March 20, 2016. I was so upset with our visit that I waited until today to submit this concern. I generally do not complain but last night's visit was so bad, I felt these concerns needed to be voiced to the corporate office. I did not select one of the specified concerns available in the contact us section because almost everything was a concern. Initially we were given a wait time of 5-10 minutes for a party of two. More than twenty minutes later we were seated. It was more than ten minutes after we were seated before a server approached our table. He was kind but it was clear he was responsible for more tables than he could reasonably handle effectively. We waited a very long time for our food. When the food did arrive, it was no longer hot indicating it was sitting in the kitchen longer than it should have before it was finally delivered. We requested drink refills for our first refill three times. It was at least 20 minutes before our first and only drink refill arrived. I had stopped eating my meal because my drink was completely empty. To ask for a drink refill for the third time and then see you server go to another table to take their order before accomodating the drink refill request is unacceptable. We had ordered queso as an appetizer. We were unable to finish what we paid for because we waited more than 30 minutes for additional chips that we requested 3 different times. By the time the additional chips did arrive, the queso was cold and thick. Additionally, I ordered a side order of extra croissants that were never delivered to our table. I decided not to ask again about them. The table across from me had their meal delivered and then had to wait more than five minutes before their silverware was delivered so they could eat the food that had been sitting in front of them for more than five minutes. They had the same server. The managers never directly approached our table to ask if everything was all right. Multiple managers and other servers walked by looking at our table but never asked if we would like a drink refill. My family really likes the food at Cheddar's and we were excited when they located in our town. I listed our visits as annual visits because the situations described above are what we experience every single time we visit the restaurant - whether it is a busy time or a slow time. We eat out a lot - at least 3-4 times each week. We stopped including Cheddar's in our list of favorites because the service continues to be unacceptable. It isn't "our town" because we have acceptable service at the other places we dine at each week. I am questioning if perhaps the issue is more with management? It was very evident last night that there were not enough servers to manage the customers. Each server should be responsible for a fewer number of tables and the tables should be more closely located so the servers are not running all over the restaurant to service their tables. In the one room we were in, I counted at least four servers taking care of 1-2 tables each and then I would also see them in another area trying to service tables in that area as well. Again I repeat, this type of experience is the norm for my family at the Longview Cheddars. A few months ago, I took my oldest son around 2:30 in the afternoon when the location was not busy at all. We did not receive attentive service. No drink refills and no chip refills for appetizer. Perhaps, you should invest in larger glasses and provide more chips initially when the appetizer was delivered. These are problems we experience literally every single time we visit. read more

It's always great service when the appetizer takes 20 minutes and STILL gets to the table before the drinks (2 waters, no lemon). I ordered the grilled chicken Caesar pasta salad, extra dressing on the side. I also asked for my chicken on the side with it thrown in the microwave (like I always do since my raw chicken fiascos). My friend ordered the chicken pecan salad. We asked for the croissants that you have to ask for even though they're free with the salads. They bring out two salads, both wrong. One dry Caesar salad with a small cup of dressing on the side. One dry random chicken salad, small dressing on the side. No croissants. I just asked for the manager at that point, told her everything wrong. They bring me my correct pasta salad, and my friend's salad... with raw chicken on it. Sliced, pink, shiny raw chicken. How do you serve RAW SLICED CHICKEN? Called manager back over, and she gets yet another salad that she personally made sure had cooked chicken. They wound up charging us for just my salad. Whatever. Quite disappointed. The portions are huge, but the food is just meh. Triple appetizer platter was plenty to split with two people and more left over. We also ordered ribs, shrimp, and chicken to take home for dinner but once home found it was also quite mediocre food. Chedders advertises "from scratch" but it is far from. My husband wanted to order the monte crisco, but when he asked to alter to sandwich (no cheese) he was told no. The monte crisco COMES PRE-MADE & FROZEN. So he orders their house sandwich, and when he is handed his food it is clearly deli meat. We all felt disgusted, and cheated. My chicken strips were more breading than meat with cold fries, and our childs penne pasta was OVER LOADED with sauce. When we asked for to go boxes the waiter threw them ON TOP OF OUR FOOD. How do you destroy a chicken fajita quesadilla? Go to Cheddars! I didn't even finish one! I immediately asked for a to-go box. Mom wanted me to order something else. No way! No telling what extras would be in the next order. So, when I got back to Dallas, I thought I could resurrect them. I opened them up and added cheese. Didn't even look like there was cheese on them! I've been to Chedders scratch kitchen many times and the food is always good. They have a wife variety of foods so you won't get board eating there. The Pain killer drink is yummy too. I love that even when it's crowded you don't feel like your Cramer into a small space. My daughter loves going up look at the fish in the aquariums in the front. It is always clean. read more

I had the chicken pot pie. It may have been the best one I have ever eaten. It was large for only 690 calories. I will eat this again. My friend had the BBQ chicken. I told him his chicken looked good. He said it "looked good" after he took a bite. He said it was very dry and overdone. It was like chicken jerky. He said he suspected it was yesterday's chicken. I enjoyed my pot pie. My friend did not eat the chicken jerky. He enjoyed the sweet potato and side salad though. He did not like the chicken at all. Overall my meal was great but his sucked. We have loved Cheddar's for years, but just haven't been back to Longview to eat in a while. We were very disappointed in the quality of our food today. My husband said his Chicken Alfredo was not near as good as usual. His chicken was fine, but the pasta was chewy and the sauce bland. My cole slaw tasted like something off a grocery store shelf. Just moved here and the wife and I wanted a drink and something to eat after a hard day of moving. Cheddar's was close, and seemed like a "safe bet." We sat at a booth in the bar. Pretty bad service. Wife ordered the four-veggie plate. They got two out of four right and she ended up with six sides. Broccoli was cold and rubbery. Food was not really good. Atmosphere was pretty rough. Then we ordered cheese fries with ranch. Had to order ranch 3 more times and I had to get up and chase the waitress down for it and still had to wait. We came here with a party of six for Father's Day to celebrate both my husband and my dad. The wait time, 35-40 minutes, wasn't terrible considering the time and day we came. The croissants were amazing as usual. The appetizers came out in a fair amount of time. But then there was the rest of the experience. Not one order was prepared correctly, aside from the side of mashed potatoes and carrots for the baby. Two of the steaks were incorrectly cooked, a third steak was sent to the wrong table and left my dad with no plate, and the salmon was incorrectly cooked as well and missing sides. 15-20 minutes into eating and there was still no meal for my dad and no sides that had been missing. Drinks went unfilled, we didn't receive cutlery until the food arrived, even though we had requested it many times, and not once did anyone offer a remedy for any of the above mentioned issues that occurred. I understand that restaurants get busy, but this whole experience felt like more than just that. I'm beyond aggravated and disturbed by the managers actions during our dinner tonight, I've been a customer of Cheddars for several years, tonight as we (party of 8) ate dinner our WONDERFUL waitress was fired on the spot for taking a smoke break. While I understand most people wouldn't be alright with it, we verified with her that we were her only table (manager also verified) and told her to go take a break that we were totally fine, we had drinks, food, etc. and wouldn't need her service for at least 10 or 15 minutes. A short time later Kayla (server) returned to us with tears in her eyes telling us that her manager told her that she Was fired and that she needed to come notify the table that she was terminated and that they would be passing us off to someone else. NO ONE should ever have to do that, the manager should've got off his ass and come and notified us of the staff change with out belittling and embarrassing this young lady. We wished her well as she walked away crying, only to have another server come out grab plates (full of food off the table and tell us that they were printing our check inside and would have it to us ASAP. Not only did the staff upset the young girl they upset a party of 8 who had a tab well over $100 and made us feel as if we weren't wanted or needed in their business. We spoke with the manager who seemed to be apologetic but didn't seem sincere, he admitted that he may have handled the situation in the wrong way and offered us two free queso coupons should we wish to return. We will NOT be back. Obviously we weren't wanted or needed in the first place. If KANA was still managing the place it wouldn't be in the situation it was. read more

If I could give this place less than zero stars I would. I have given this place chance after chance and it has never been good. Staff is friendly but that's about it. They got shut down about a year and a half ago for having food violations. Every time we have been to Cheddar's which is about 20 times something has annoyed us with the service. The straw that broke the camels back was when we went in one evening we were seated in the bar area the server asked the hostess who was going to serve us. We sat there for 20 Min's and 4 servers sat at the bar and looked at us like we were a big inconvenience. Most of the time they are out of something that you order or the server does not ever come for the ticket or something like that. I don't really have a favorite food from here everything is just OK.
