In all honesty it wasn't good at all..had dinner there last night with my fiancé we were celebrating the closing of our first house.. I had the ribs fries and cole slaw .. ribs were very fatty and didn't have any kind of char on them ..the honey bbq sauce didn't have much flavor either ..the only good part of my meal was the salad and roll..the fiancé had steak and shrimp..she only ate a few bites of the steak because just like the ribs it lacked any char and even tho it was medium it was a little tough..but we have decided that we won't be going back to cheaddars again after this time..wasn't worth the price for the quality of food read more

Ate at Cheddars two nights ago and was very surprised to find a new, beautiful facility. The menu was varied. I had the shrimp and it was wonderful. My spouse had the honey barbecue ribs and said they were great. Service was great and the prices were very surprisingly affordable. Will return before leaving Lafayette. I came here with my girlfriend and my grandparent's for dinner, the place is pretty, seats are comfy, kind of reminds me of a fancier looking Outback Steakhouse. The restaurant claims to make their food from scratch... I'm sure some of the food is made from scratch, but there is no possible way. Only high-end, small menu restaurants really pull this off. The fact that the menu was MASSIVE just proves my point. Anyways, we sat down at a table, after nearly 10 minutes our server Stephanie walked past and said she would be with us soon. She came back with menus and left again, saying she would come back with silverware... She brought silverware and just walked away.... no drink order, no water. no introduction... She comes back another 5 minutes later asking if we want drinks... I ordered 2 beers for my girlfriend and I.. which actually took 15 minutes to come to the table. The restaurant was not even busy. I ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was flavorless, no seasonings at all, just a creamy texture. The rest of the meal was just okay. I left with my stomach hurting. Stephanie asked all the tables around us if they wanted more drinks, she didn't ask us. I flagged her down, asked for some more beer. She comes back 10 minutes later asking if I want it in a bottle or a draft. I tell her bottle. Now, she gets takeout containers, asks if we want dessert or coffee, brings us the check, runs the check, and THEN gives us the beers... By this time, we were all finished and just wanted to leave. I wouldn't recommend. If you are going to serve mediocre food, at least hire a smiling server who can make the experience better. Maybe training the staff on the steps of service may turn some frowns upside down. read more

Food is great. I love the Mango-Tilapia. The last time we ate there, the service was terrible. We were more than half finished with our entrée when our salads finally arrived. My husband finished his tea before any food was served and he was never offered more. Tonight we had nice service but could not talk because the music was WAY TOO loud. The portions are well-sized and everything is cooked perfectly. You won't need to add too much spice to anything; it has enough flavor to make your mouth want more. Wow...staying in a hotel near Cheddar's and after reading reviews, thought this would be out go-to restaurant while we were here. Went to the bar to have a drink and it began with pouring a Pinot Gris rather than a Pinot Noir. Okay, easy mistake, but the bartender had multiple excuses rather than saying, oops! Then the food order- the food may have been good, but I didn't notice...since the third person in our group had not received any of her food yet. We waited...our food got cold...no server was around...finally, when one appeared, we explained we were still waiting for the third meal. Excuses about losing the ticket, excuses that the kitchen staff sucked. No apology, no we'll comp the meal...nothing. Long story short, two of us completed our cooled-off meals before hers even arrived...still with no apologies. When we asked for a to- go box for her meal, they were rude and inconsiderate. Beware, avoid this place if you have a desire to receive your meals together and prefer good service. This place used to be amazing. Probably management drove it into the ground. I understand they do not do reservations but when you are having a party of 10 people coming in you would probably want to be aware. I called in two days early to give a heads up told they did not do reservations and to call in the morning of by an employee on Tuesday morning. So fast forward to Thursday I call in as soon as they open and talked to the manager Melissa and she said to call 30 min before for the wait list and it wouldn't be a problem for a party of 10 to come in. So I did as the manager said called in 30 min before we were to arrive then im informed that both party tables are in use and that it will be a wait. So I get here talk to Melissa about the issue and she said this is rare and a surprise not normal. And did nothing for the inconvenience it caused our party and I did my part multiple times to give them a heads up this is far by the worst experience in a party setting I've been in I will not be back again. Not to mention we had multiple steaks asked for different temperature being cooked they mixed them up and the baked potatoes were not fully cooked I asked for loaded mashed potatoes was brought normal potatoes. The pay machine that sits on the table shut off mid transaction and then we had to ask for the waiter multiple times to take the money or take our dishes to remove them we had all our dishes on the table when they were empty never was taken off the table read more

One of the newer restaurants in town, Cheddar's adds more flavor to the Highway 26 corridor in Lafayette. The ambiance and menu are similar to the other locations in the Cheddar's chain. They offer a mix of food options with something to suit everyone; from soup and salad to grilled salmon and sandwiches. The prices are reasonable for the quantity provided. The only downside is that this place is always busy. No matter what time I have been here or have driven by, the lot is always full. However, they have plenty of seating and the wait times are reasonable. If you're in the area and haven't been to this chain, I would recommend giving this place a try. read more

This is only my second visit to this franchise. I visited one in Florida and had a positive experience. I went to lunch with a group and someone else picked the restaurant, so off I go. Cheddar's unique decor feature is a huge aquarium. You can't see it from every seat, but it's worth a look. The kids love it, apparently. Our waiter seemed be a bit - inexperienced. I'll give him a good review because he was a nice kid and seemed to be trying real hard, but it was obvious that he is not an experienced waiter. He did make a mistake on one of my companions order, bringing a loaded baked potato instead of the ordered loaded potato soup. I'm sure he'll improve. I ordered a pretty basic lunch - chicken tortilla soup and half of the Cheddar Club. If you name a dish after your restaurant, you might expect something special about it. It does come on potato bread but it's just a normal club sandwich, although it was tasty and held a large portion of meat. The tortilla soup had a good kick to it, but I was a bit disappointed as it was heavy on the broth and not so much on the chicken or tortillas. But again, tasty. Although I'm lukewarm on my meal, others in my dining party who were familiar with Cheddar's did a better job ordering. Apparently you have know what to order. Don't be fooled by the term "house salad," It's more like a chef's salad, to be honest. I wish I had ordered one. The chicken pot pie looked delicious too. The Phllly beef sandwich held a good portion of meat and was smothered in melted cheese. If I return here, I'm definitely ordering something besides the ordinary club sandwich. Based on my experience, the menu may be a bit hit or miss. Oh and I should mention that one of their signatures is the bread brought to your table. Flaky croissants drizzled with honey butter. That was nice. I would rate Cheddars as a wannabe O'Charleys or Applebees. But it's very close. I wouldn't complain if someone wanted to take me here again. So this is my second time here, my 1st time I rated it 2 stars but see below for the 1st experience. This time I came on a lunch "date" with my 5 year old. We arrived at 11 and were greeted promptly by our waitress, ordered a water and a milkshake for my son. 15 minutes later, we get the drinks. We order and because of the slowness from my 1st experience and with how long it took to get drinks, I ordered soup and salad and a side of fries for the boy. Got the salad in a reasonable amount of time...took another 20 minutes for fries....still no soup. Took another 5-6 minute for waitress to check on us (we really needed a plate for the fries and ketchup). She appeared surprised that I didn't have my soup and said she would get it right away. She then went to the booth behind us and took their order. Eventually (about 10 min later) got the soup, but it was luke warm which very slowly melted the cheese into a blob. Really gross. Salad was average. Definitely will not be back after the 2nd visit. We arrived around 1130 on a Saturday and sat in the bar. It took 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. We ordered drinks and an app and my drink was clearly made incorrectly. We received our chips and queso at 1210 (40 min after we arrived), but they were really good. The food was mediocre for all four of our lunches. We finally left at 1:30...two hours after we arrived (and we weren't looking to have a long winded lunch). The restaurant has been open for awhile now, but the slowness wasn't attributed to the newness.....it just appeared the staff didn't care to be there. Likely won't be back. read more

They are good about staying on top of drink refills which is a plus.Our most recent visit they forgot our appetizer and the main entrees came out cold, like they had been sitting out for a while. And so we went we were a party of 5 & was easily seated , the atmosphere was friendly , spacious and family friendly .But there's a couple of things I wish they'll work on .First , I wish they have some kind of bread to offer the customers while waiting just like the other family restaurants ... Sorry one star is all you get. So the wife and myself decide to try the place out while we are in town. We found a seat in the bar and was greeted quickly. Ordered a specialty drink, water and Coke. Specialty drink and Coke came out. Notified the waiter 3 times no water yet. Then ordered a appetizer and entrée's with salad. Appetizer came out at a decent rate, taste was good. 7 minutes later, while eating the appetizer our entree arrived. Yes someone messed up. Then after notifying our server which was non existent he said I'll get your salads. At no time did he ever apologize for the mess up. I have been to this restaurant several times. The food is always great. But last night, the service was terrible. After being sat down at our table, I'm pretty sure our server forgot about us. Someone finally showed up to take our drink order but said he couldn't put in our food order. We set for over 45 minutes waiting for our food to arrive at our table. While I understand that this is not a fast food restaurant, I also didn't expect to spend my whole evening here. There were tables around us that sat down after we arrived that were almost finished eating before we even got our food. I hope the next time I go back, the service is better. Their actual gluten free menu is terrible!! There were only 4 items, and each one had something that still needed to be left off the plate. BUT, I asked for a manager knowledgeable about gluten free and he agreed that the gluten free menu was terrible and not accurate as to what all we can eat. He said most things can be made gluten free as long as the order went through him so he could properly let the chef know. I had the chicken and shrimp with rice and it was amazing!!! Slow to get served or orders taken, lots of used dishes on the table from appetizers and waiting for the entrees so when the entrees were served, there was little room for them. Had to ask for the extra dishes to be removed. Drinks needed refreshed prior to entrees and an extra long wait for a beer from the bar. My below McDonalds beef quality ribeye was doggie bag food. If you serve steak (and that's questionable from my last 3 experiences, you should not have an up charge for a baked potato. Overall low quality food, mediocre service, loud music and poor layout contribute to congestion and an unpleasant experience. We have eaten at Cheddar's many times. After the first visit, it became our favorite! We have tried many menu choices and the only thing I can say that I wasn't impressed with, was the corn. I believe everything is made from scratch except that. I never order chicken strips anywhere because they are all the same - taste like frozen out of a bag, but after trying theirs - WOW, I don't know how they make them so good! I don't understand how their average star rating is only 3. We always arrive between 4:30-4:45pm for dinner because after that, the place fills up so maybe we have just been lucky each time and got great food because they didn't have to rush and could pay more attention to it? I highly recommend the BQ ribs, New Orleans pasta, Monte Cristo and Bourbon-glazed salmon is the best, but so are all of the side dishes except the corn! The marina is THE BEST we have ever had!
