Came in with a group of four on a Friday night about 6:30 and it was...okay. Pros - The speed of food delivery once we ordered was great - Place was clean and had a fun atmosphere - Food had good flavor Cons - Our server was very unattentive (asked for refills multiple times and took a few times before she'd bring them) - Very small menu (overall) and prices were a bit high (almost $10 for a side of queso?!) - Waitress brought our bill with our meal and kept coming to see if we had put our money/card in the bill while we were eating... Overall an okay experience, but there are definitely better spots. read more

Sadly this location is declining. I have issues often here, although never do at other locations. Today I was told the food I wanted was still being assembled (chicken flautas) and it would be 20 more minutes. I agreed, not a big deal. 25 minutes later the server said it was going to be 15 more minutes. At this point the restaurant has been open 2 hours so I'm not sure why food prep wasn't done before they opened. But I declined to wait any longer. The server was fine, they picked up the tab as they should have, but somewhere there is a breakdown in management. I'm not coming back for a while. It's too bad because the restaurant has decent food but people can't buy what you don't prepare to sell. read more

Stopped in for dinner and I have to say it was pretty good. We got tacos ,rice,and the Elvis platter and queso. Then for dessert we got the churros and oh my goodness were they great. We will definitely be back and a little suggestion put the queso on the rice it is life changing. read more

I went to lunch with a friend and were seated very quickly. I liked how they have a limited menu, only two sides. Our waitress dropped off some nacho chips and two small bowls with salsa. She took our drink order, came back with them, and then took our food order. She was back very quickly with our food. The food was hot and was plentiful, we both took boxes home. It was very tasty. Our only issue was the price, they are more expensive than some other places like it. We probably won't be returning because of the price, my meal plus tip was $20 and I had a water. read more

Meh. The place was clean. Nice decor, but a lot of the tables were so close together my hubby and I both were touching chairs with the person behind us. Very uncomfortable trying to relax and eat in that situation. The server was very nice. He didn't seem 100% on smaller details from the menu based on what we ordered and questions we asked, but he did help us to modify our order for next time. All of our dips and sauces were way over seasoned. The salsa was SUPER SALTY. The queso was ok, but definitely had that velveeta vibe. Also it was $9 for that small of a dish. Wow. I can get better queso elsewhere for almost half that. I had a beef burrito with boom boom "sauce." It was basically just the queso with more stuff in it so I wasn't impressed. The rice was very plain. Barely seasoned. The tortilla was very thick like pita. It didn't taste bad, just not my preference. The beef was very good. Seasoned well and not too much. I stole my husband's refried beans. They were very good too. You can tell those were homemade. My husband enjoyed the steak inside his burrito very much. He didn't like the big pieces of peppers/chillis in the sauce though. I want to give it another go. I might do carry out though purely based on how cramped it is read more

As a native Texan who lived a few blocks from one of the first Chuy's outside of Austin, I was overjoyed to hear we would be getting one here. We went on opening night and were not disappointed. Attentive service, fantastic food, the same decor and vibe that Chuy's fans are familiar with. Anxiously awaiting waitlist to become active, but if you need to wait it is worth it. A note about it 'not being a good Mexican restaurant' comments: it's not a Mexican restaurant. It is distinctively TexMex, which is not the same as Mexican food, and Chuy's is a classic example of great TexMex. Expecting authentic Mexican food from a Tex Mex joint is like being mad you didn't get good Belgian food from a French Restaurant. read more

A tales of two visits about 3 weeks apart. First visit was flavorful (Steak burrito), great service and worth another visit. Second visit was pretty bad. Service was slow and forgetful, food took forever to get to the table. When it did arrive, it was simply just ok. Fajitas - the chicken and steak were both scrumptious, but laid on a bed of dry onions and peppers - they need some sort of sauce or liquid. Spoiled guacamole is so easy to spot and should never have been on the plate. Queso dip was thin and flavorless. New restaurants are under such pressure to give clients a good experience or it's a long slow slide toward the inevitable. Might try again, maybe. read more

This was such a wonderful experience. The food most of All was so delicious. It was brought to our table rather quickly. The chips we received was the best chips ever. Thin and crispy. We got the salsa, but also asked for the jalapeno ranch dip too. Loved it so much I put all over my shrimp taco . We were seated right away, with no wait. We will be back again and again. If you want a place to meet friends, have a drink, and eat this is the place. Welcome to Lafayette Chuy's, we are glad you are here. Keeping in mind this franchise location only opened a day prior to our visit, the service had some room for improvement, but the food was incredible and tasted as if my family and I were back in Texas. The restaurant was full of life and exhibited all of the amazing unique ("weird") characteristics of what is the Chuys we all know and love. The only reason I didn't rate this location 5 stars is due to the fact that it only caters to individuals and couples as parties of 3 or more had elongated wait times. Despite this, the general and regional manager made it a point to ensure my family received our military and Purdue student discounts for our meal, gave us a free queso coupon for our wait, and offered to donate chips and dips to any military affiliated organization who requests catering. Also, their Purdue special Chuys shirts are incredible! Highly recommend showing up early and, when the online waitlist is back online, using the waitlist to get in when you are planning to. read more

Guacamole: excellent! A+ Chips: soooo good. Light and crispy. Salsa: hit or miss? Tonight's was too spicy and I like spicy. Crispy Ground Beef tacos: too bland. Luckily I just added some salsa. Chicken Fajita: expensive for what you get. Value: Overall, I think it was expensive. The fajita was $3 more than Dos Amigos. Still, the chips and guacamole ($8) were so good, I'm willing to pay. I just won't get anything else next time. Service was fantastic. When we asked if there was a less spicy salsa, the manager let us try the jalapeño ranch. It was a nice effort but the ranch didn't hit either. Manager said the salsa spice level varies depending on the peppers used that day. I suppose they'll figure it out once enough people complain. Fun, crowded, loud atmosphere. People with sensory issues, you've been warned. They had an extensive drink menu which we didn't get to try. Next time! I'm glad that so many people like Chuy's. To me it was just ok. Ive been to lots of Mexican restaurants and Chuy's was not the best for me. The beans were not moist and they didn't have much flavor. I ordered one of their signature dishes. The service was good and the decor was nice. I'm glad that my husband and I split a dinner because we spent half as much as it would have cost if we had ordered 2 dinners. read more

I lived in Austin years back and Chuy's was a staple for good food ! So, you can understand that when I saw one being built in Lafayette I was cautiously optimistic! Is it gonna be a corporate takeover like Chili's and the food is gonna be highly processed? I've been throughout numerous states with chuy's. All were good but not this one. First off food doesn't taste like the others. I've always been able to go and order off the kids menu. (I can only eat a certain amount.) so the bar manager told me that we are not allowed to order off the kids menu anymore unless it's 12 & under. I stated it does not say anything like that on their menu and I've always been able to eat off of the 12 and under including this location until now. They stated they were under new ownership and they are not allowed to do that anymore. On top of that the bar manager was making rude comments to customers (which I found out was family of the kitchen manager) & the kitchen manager was the one that told me he was in charge and we were not allowed to eat off the children's menu. We decide to move to a booth to get away from the rude bar manager, and that's when we saw constant employees taking shots of sangria to the bag and drinking it.. which I got video of.. then we noticed the bar manager eating and prepping food with the same gloves and not washing hands.
