If I could I would give this particular location a negative 10 stars... first of all I typically go to this location often and have a good time. However this time I went it was the absolute worst experience I have ever had at this restaurant. The manager Ashby came in front of me while I was at the bar speaking loudly and said to me "hello I noticed you ordered a fourth drink so it is our policy to come and speak with the customer in regards to your fourth drink we just want to make sure that you are OK." I told Ashby I am OK. I asked him "is this a new policy?" he said "no this is a policy that has always been in place." This is my first time ever hearing about this policy. I felt so embarrassed because I had only had three drinks. He made me feel like I was intoxicated when in fact I wasn't. I could understand if I had shown signs of Intoxication. I went online to see if I could locate this policy of yours, I was unable to locate that policy. The bartenders apologized for the managers behavior. It is not the responsibility of the bartenders to apologize for the behavior of the manager. The bartenders also felt so embarrassed because they said this is a new policy. I told the bartenders that managers just stated that this was not a new policy. I let them know that I was taking this social media because people need to know about this new policy that you will feel embarrassed after you have your third drink going into your fourth drink. This situation made me so upset that I did not order my fourth drink because I did not want to spend another dime in this establishment. The bartenders let me know that the general manager was in the back and they will get the general manager for me to speak with him. I spoke with the general manager I let him know my frustration and my embarrassment I also let him know that I will be taking this to social media. The general manager said that this was a new policy and he also apologized for the behavior of the manager and how he addressed me. I was having a great time before Ashby came to speak to me about a fourth drink. This was highly unprofessional and unacceptable behavior. If you have a new policy in place that need to be communicated with the customers ahead of time or posted somewhere, because had I known that I was going to be embarrassed going into my fourth drink I would not have ever purchased the first drink. I come here often and I typically have a great time and my drinks have never been counted. I'm also a bartender and I have taken my TABC and typically you would follow a red light yellow light green light, meaning you would determine how your customer behaves in your presence. Following the red light yellow light green light it allows you to know who and who not to serve, not based on how many drinks I have had. This situation could have taken an even worse turn had I actually been intoxicated but because I wasn't I remained calm I closed at my tab and took my business elsewhere. So if you want to have a good time cheddar customers go somewhere else because you will be monitored from the time you walk in the door and spoken to loudly in front of other customers as if you were a drunk & they will embarrass you. We used to love Cheddars and usually come for the croissants. We've been to all the locations in Houston and 9 out of 10 times, there's a wait even when they have plenty of open tables- I can never understand this. Today, we arrived around 5:30pm and the restaurant had more staff members than customers. When they finally seated us after a 15 minute wait, we were the only table in that area- all the others were completely empty and clean. Our server came shortly after, took our order, brought us water and croissants and we didn't see him again. 45 minutes later, after we had finished our drinks, croissants and soups, he came by and said "ughh why isn't your food out yet?! It should've been out by now!" Yeahhh, you think?! It would've been nice to have gotten some drink refills or croissants or reassurance at some point in that 45-minute stretch. After he left to "see what's going on," it was still another 15 minutes before we got our food. Needless to say, I will not be visiting Cheddars again. When/if I ever crave the croissants again, I am ordering to-go for sure! read more

11 of us (plus a baby in a carrier) headed over to Cheddar's the other day for what we hoped would be a nice, relaxing meal. We were surprised that the hostess told us she could seat us in separate booths, but not together, and didn't seem interested in working out any seating arrangement that would let us all sit together. In the end we were able to push two tables together up against a booth to make a long table (not sure why we couldn't push three tables together, but ok). We waited a while for a server and then a kid came by to take our drink orders. He seemed a bit nervous and shaken, and it wasn't until later that I learned that he was new and the server assigned to our tables had walked out on the job right as we sat down. The food prices are great, the queso with ground beef is awesome, and the croissants with the butter on them are pretty tasty. The baked potato soup was decent, but the bacon in it was chewy. My sister-in-law liked the chicken strips, my husband liked the cornmeal catfish, and others liked the onion rings. From what I hear, they have a good happy hour, so I'll likely go here again for drinks and queso. However, I will not return to this location. read more

Okay, I had to ammened my last review of Cheddar's. My husband and I went 2 days ago and I have to commend them... Their service is great! Ya, the waiters and waitresses are young, but they all seem very professional and helpful. Always a smile and a "no problem" attitude. Management is great too. We had an issue with one of our meeals and she didn't even batt an eye and comp'ed my husband's meal. We weren't even looking or asking for a comp or freebie. The food - my husband had the Dijon Chicken which I must say is delicious! So full of flavor I was surprised compared to the last meal we had there (chicken fingers, nothing too great, pot pie, avoid too - kinda bland). I had the fish tacos. They were pretty good and crispy. The spinach dip, they serve "Houstons" style with sour cream and picante on the side. Of course the croissants are to-die-for. I've never had anything so fluffy and light. If you go for anything, go for the croissants and huge margaritas. What a combo! It's very crowded so drop your spouse at the door to check in while you find a parking spot. On top of that - the last 2 times we ate there, we spent a little over $20. That's with 1 appetizer, 2 meals and of course 2 waters. Not bad for a restaurant. Great service.. on a scale from 1-10, they rank 10. Food I would score a 7-8. Tonight was my 1st here ... And OMJ ! Soooo delicious ! Me and my girlfriend decided to get drinks/ apps after a long night of work .. We came in around 10 :30pm so we got seated pretty quickly. We ordered two skinny margaritas 3.95 each (cheap cheap and awesome!) Queso with chips appetizer 4.99 Two grilled chicken pecan salads 8.99 each Any ways the margaritas were totally delicious and at only 109 cal !!! We decide to grab a second round ... Friends ordered drinks and confirmed they're delicious! Food was great! For appetizers we had the nachos (which I strongly recommend), the quesadillas and the rolls. We also had the pasta Alfredo salad, these rolls with ham and sweet berry dipping sauce (sounds weird but delish!). The portion sizes are pretty big, both my husband and I took more than half of it home (perhaps the appetizers were at fault for that). We went on a busy weekend night and waited about 15 min to be seated. Once ordered the food came out pretty fast considering how full it was. Wow! What a horrible experience. Besides the cheap drinks everything else was awful. The waitress we had was new and not ready to be alone. The other staff at the bar stood around typing into their cell phones. We asked for a lemon drop martini and got something I am sure she just made up. It had salt in the rim instead of sugar. We finally instructed the bartender on what to put in it. The appetizers when ready were thrown into our table cold without plates or utensils. We witnessed a couple get so frustrated that they got up and left. My stool at the bar table had torn vinyl. Just seem like a very disorganized place. read more

Even though I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars, I will probably never eat in this restaurant again. The wait person my daughter and I had was distracted and, in our opinion, acted like she didn't want to be there. When our appetizers came, we still hadn't been given silverware or napkins, and also no plates. The one bright spot was the manager, Paula, was very sweet, and was at our table frequently, making sure our drinks were filled. While the food is still wonderful, the service here has deteriorated in the past year. Really a shame. And most of the staff appears to think we're blessed to be served by them. read more

Bug parts, hair, freezing cold! I went here for a birthday dinner with family. I ordered the chicken pot pie which comes with a salad. The salad had a bug wing in it and the chicken pot pie had a short, black, curly hair baked into the crust. The chicken in the pot pie was all the cartilage tips from chicken tenderloins (scrap meat). We didn't complain while there about the food because we weren't looking for a handout or to cause a scene. We also were sitting straight under a vent and we had to ask 4 times to get the AC vent turned down while our fingers were going numb and food was instantly cold. I was very skeptical when i first came here but I was presently surprised. My girlfriend kept asking me to go here so I finally caved in and decided to give it a try. I ordered the potpie with a side salad. The side salad was a great portion and could have easily filled me up but the smell of the potpie kept me going. The potpie was excellent, it was full of flavor and the pastry was baked perfectly! One of my favorite parts of this restaurant are the honey butter croissants you can order and I definitely recommend you do! If there were a negative rating for service... I'm glad I don't live near Katy, because I enjoy Cheddar's Restaurants. I like their food and have never had a problem enjoying my time there with friends. Long periods of food and conversations. The management at the Katy restaurant on Sat 2-28 was just not up to the job. We chose Cheddars as a meeting place since we were from out of town and wanted to catchup with some friends. Food was okay. Horrible service. Drink spilled under the table (before we sat down), waitress took order, never saw her again. Asked for the bill and the new waiter seemed surprised. If we hadn't been honest, we could have just left and no one would have been the wiser. But half our party left and we were joined by new friends. The waiter was fine with our friends joining...the host staff...not so much. Seven meals in total, two parties, and before we finished a host (with menus in one hand) came and shook hands with 4 out of 5 people in the booth. It was weird to say the least, but then he did nothing else. He didn't ask us for anything. Didn't ask if everything was okay. Of course, no one else had either. Because once the 2nd waiter took our order, we never saw him again until we flagged him down for the checks. But here's the part that makes me write this bad review. We realized that the "Hi I'm Tim" person had interrupted us trying to make us leave (again, this was before we'd even finished our food). As we left, that same "Hi, I'm Tim" hand-shaking host, said as one of our party walked by: "Awesome." As in glad you're leaving. And as I walked by he said, "It's about time." How dare you !! We were paying customers almost totally ignored by the staff and then harassed to leave. Well, you can bet that our friends who live in the Katy area are definitely repeating this story. I rarely dine out with my husband but when we do, It better be worth the price of service and food. Cheddar's was worth every dime. From entering the restaurant, the seaters were cheerful and looked happy to be there. After being sat, not even 30 seconds later our waiter Frank introduced himself with a warm welcome and got our drinks out quickly, the food came out in less than 10 minutes and I tell you his suggestion of the lemon pepper chicken was a great one. We always enjoyed the Cheddars in Webster so after moving to Katy we wanted to try this one. Not sure what's going on here but it just wasn't the same experience, sadly. The food was actually pretty good, tasty, served hot, we enjoyed it! It was the service and cleanliness that disappointed. Service was so slowwwwwwww. It took forever to get our waitress to do anything! Also, this was weird, the busboys circle the restaurant, I guess looking for tables to clean but it got kind of strange watching them. They were like hawks circling and circling, I swear I saw the same guy like 5 times! I finally told my family to pay attention to it and they just laughed! I don't love or hate Cheddar's, but we usually wind up here when one of us wants Italian and the other wants Mexican. It's pretty generic, like Chili's or TGIFridays. The biggest positive are the croissants. Buttery and flaky, just like they should be, and better than anything you'll get at the grocery store or even the local "french" restaurant chain. The negative is that they don't bring any type of bread to your table upon being seated and so if you are as hungry as we were, then you'll have to pay extra to get a plate of them. I've been here a few times and have gotten the generic chicken tenders or chicken salad or burger and it's always been hit or miss. This time I decided to try their fried catfish and I was pretty impressed. Smaller fillets than at most area places and so the fillets were tender throughout. I also got their red beans and rice as a side. Not the best, but I've had worse. There were nice chunks of sausage in it and the gravy wasn't too watery. So all was good, but in the end it's not a place we think much about when it comes time to pick a place to eat. The drinks we ordered when we first arrived came out after our entrees. They were out of the ingredients for my hubby's drink but they didn't bother telling us until the food was coming out? Nah. We will be back when there is another "cuisine" disagreement, but probably not before then. read more

I really do love the food here and it is such a great value, including the drinks from the bar. My favorite items include their chicken tenders, hamburgers, baby back ribs, salads, and buffalo chicken wrappers. Their top shelf margaritas are huge and are only $6.99. They also have regular sized margaritas for $3.99. I always have to finish the meal with the Monster Cookie Sundae, which is excellent. My only complaint is that the service tends to be a lot slower at this location compared to the College Station location. That's probably a sign of management. read more

This didn't happen, we waited for about 10 minutes or so before we were asked about beverages. Another 10 minutes or so before beverages arrived and probably another 10 more minutes for alcoholic beverages to arrive. Long story short, we eventually ordered food, food was poor compared to other locations, but I didn't expect much since kitchen staff clearly wanted to quickly whip out the food and failed on plating, temperature, and all of the above. Once our meal was over, we waited anxiously to get our check. Our waiter finally showed up after disappearing because he was probably doing his side jobs. Rudely reached across my face to clear out plates (we had 6 people at our party) INSTEAD of asking me or even handing me the check. You have to go to Cheddar's knowing what you're getting! No this is not somewhere I would chose to go on a regular basis, but it's not bad. They have your classic American favorite appetizers like Spinach and Artichoke Dip, Nachos, Onion Rings, etc. Their main dishes are pretty simple. Pick from steak cuts, ribs, fried chicken assortments, or a seafood dish and then 2 sides. They do have some salads, burgers, and sandwiches, but all pretty basic. I was surprised at the crowd when we walked in aroudn 9pm and still had a short wait. I would have thought it would have been fairly cleared out but there were people coming in even when we were leaving around 10:30pm. I ordered the Tilapia and Shrimp with Mango Salsa, with broccoli and french fries as my two sides. The broccoli was very good! Basic and steamed, but I enjoyed it. The french fries weren't anything special, but good like most french fries are. The Tilapia and Shrimp was huge! Definitely could split a plate between two people. My boyfriend ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes, and the cheese and broccoli casserole! I didn't even see the cheese and broccoli casserole so I'm assuming he devoured and loved it. For the amount of food we got plus 3 alocholic drinks, our total was SO CHEAP! I was surprised and pleased. Oh and our waitress service was phenomenal! This was my most recent visit and prior to the other visits weren't as great. The only thing wrong is the price has gone up since our last visit. Service was great, but food took a little bit longer to come out. We were taken care of and we enjoyed the food. Myself- Dijon chicken and mushrooms over rice with 2 Mac and cheese sides - 5/5 Delicious and heated throughly tons of mushrooms and hot (just made). $9.49 Hubby- Bacon cheeseburger and then ordered the full size of Texas cheese fries - 5/5 Great flavor and perfectly cooked. $6.49 fries- $7.99 I think. 2 kiddos- Chicken tender basket with fries - 4/5 The tenders had a slight fishy taste other than that it was perfect not over cooked or undercooked. $7.99 Waters for the 3 and one dr pepper at $2.49 It wasn't cheap, but this visit gave me hope for Cheddars. So today my family and I came to Chedder's and it was disappointing. We arrived and were seated by the hostess. We waited for 20 minutes and not once were we approached by a server or anyone for drinks or even to say that they will get to us when they can. The disappointing part of it all was that the restaurant wasn't even busy and it appeared that that either their servers were being inattentive or they are severally under staffed.... We walked out and this will probably be the last times we come to this Chedder's. This appears to be an ongoing issue with the waiting time. read more

Obviously we had a bad experience right? Don't you think the server would get the manager? Nope, instead she brought us our bill, so I asked for the manager. It took a few minutes for him to come by & we tell him about all of the above plus the other guests around us who had to flag down servers and who had long time greets. Then he squats down & does the whole "I do apologize" speech, blames the slow food on the kitchen manager, says the bad service was because he was trying to catch up on paper work in the office & then he offers to pay for our whole bill. Unsanitary!!! Went in on a Thursday at 4:10 P.M. I went to the bathroom before ordering and literally ALL the floor was wet. I slipped back and banged my forearm against a stall which preventing me from hitting the floor. An employee looked at me and said "what happened" I looked back at her and pointed to the floor and said "It's wet and I almost fell." She just turned around and continued fixing her hair. My husband went to the men's bathroom to wash his hands. He came back to the table and said "I just saw an employee use the bathroom, shook his stuff off and walked out the door WITHOUT washing his hands." Hubby and I went to Cheddar's tonight after dropping our son off at school for an event as it was only a few blocks away. After a short wait we were seated in the bar area and noticed that the a/c was blasting way beyond what was necessary. Hubs asked the server to turn down the air, but that never happened. We ordered queso and chips, which were just fine. For entrees, hubby ordered ribs and I ordered the ribeye, medium rare. My steak was delivered so rare that I could not eat it. The server agreed and took it back. When he brought it out again it was no better. He then said he would have his manager cook the steak and bring it out...that never happened. A busboy brought out a steak and I declined it as we had to go and pick up our son. I don't expect a great steak at Cheddar's, but I do expect it to be edible. The Expo that brought it, when told it was wrong just said, "I'll get your waiter" vs removing it. Mgmt threw a Server on the floor to have her 1st Nt on a Sat. Without Shadowing/Dbl Ckg her tables shows very poor judgement. 2nd Root beer for kid came out before drinks. Potato skins came out w/out requested Ranch. Soup served w/out a spoon. This would be our first visit to a Cheddar's in Houston and I just want to say how delighted I am. From the moment we walked in the door it took less than 15 minutes for us to get a table. We were then greeted by a friendly waitress who took our drink orders promptly. It did take a bit of a wait for our food because of the chicken fingers being made from scratch. But what I can say is that it was absolutely worth the wait, and the cheese steak sandwich I had was also fabulous.
