And the chicken sandwich, and chicken fingers are great! We were too full for a birthday dessert. Had our first experience here and it definitely wont be the last time we come to this restaurant. Great tasting food. Little hesitant when I saw a two drink minimum on the beverage I ordered. Once it arrived to the table I realized why. Texas Tea was amazing. Order the spinach dip which came with unlimited refills on chips and salsa. Less than 10.00 for an appetizer is awesome. We visited this location while we were on vacation, my wife and I ordered our steaks medium well and both of them came out well done. Mine was still juicy but her steak was dry and tough. The waitress offered 3 croissants rolls and 2 cookies for the overcooked steaks. Really??? We finally spoke to the manager on duty and she ended up comping 1 meal and 1 of our appetizers off of the final bill. Took my wife here to get some nice food as she is on a strict diet because she breastfeeds, and she wanted some good food for once. Service was great, my food was alright but they brought out my wife's steak (she ordered it cooked medium) and it wasn't even cooked to rare the center was still cold. No big deal, she asked if they could take it back and cook it more to get to medium which is more than I would've done because at that point the steak is ruined you can't really cut it open and cook it again.... Regardless they come back with the steak a few minutes later and request for her to cut open the steak in front of them so they can ensure it was cooked properly, she cuts into one half of the already cut steak and it is still raw and cold inside .... Sends it back to be cooked again because at this point she is just super hungry and wants some food and doesn't want to start over, server comes back after taking it to the kitchen and apologizes (also mentioned the manager asked what's wrong with the steak which is kind of hilarious at this point). Bring the steak back now for the third time , my wife cuts into the other half of the cut steak and it's still raw. At this point it is almost laughable , the server was super apologetic and we tried to be nice and professional to her as we know she has nothing to do with the food. Ordered take out yesterday for dinner. My husband got there to pick it up, the bartender was helping someone but then she skipped over him and helped 2 other customers that walked in after him. She finally helped my husband... He paid with 2 $25 gift cards for something that cost just under $30 dollars and she broke both gift cards and threw them away. When she came back to give him the food and receipt he told her that she didn't give him what was left on the gift card. She told him there wasn't anything left. He argued with her that he gave her $50 in gift cards, she said she gave the gift cards back. Once she realized what she did she offered him $20 cash. By the time she helped the other customers, argued with my husband about the payment, and reimbursed my husband for the gift card she threw away my husband arrived home with 2 monte cristos that weren't only burnt but the crust of the monte cristos were also soggy and mushy on the inside and the French fries were chewy like they had been reheated in the microwave before they put them in the box. Maybe they don't do well being transported home (we only live 5 min from there) but he was there for at least 20 min waiting on the bartender to get our food, and pay the bill. Our daughter's BBQ Chicken also came without BBQ sauce, I'm not a chef but I'm pretty sure that BBQ Chicken needs BBQ sauce. ‍ We were very disappointed because we typically love the monte cristos! read more

I went for dinner with my husband and a friend. We all ordered steak cooked differently and different sides. All 3 steaks were cooked to perfection just like each one of us had ordered. All the sides were pretty good, specially the baked sweet potato, the mac and cheese and the broccoli and cheese casserole. Our server, Mariah, was very attentive and checked on us several times. One of the drinks we order came incorrectly and they were very prompt to correct the mistake. First time we came here and we will for sure be coming back! We used to visit this Cheddar's very frequently. We were huge fans and recommended this restaurant to everyone. Due to outside circumstances, it has been 6 months to a year since we've been here. We went yesterday. Sadly, it will take a lot to convince us to go back anytime soon. We were seated quickly and pleasantly surprised the restaurant wasn't freezing cold as it usually is. Both benches in the booth had extremely large gaping holes on the seats, one side was repaired with duct tape that was peeling back causing our clothes to stick to it, the other was a huge hole of exposed foam rubber. Our server came within a decent amount of time and brought the honey-butter croissants. Problem is, she didn't bring, nor offer, bread plates, utensils, or proper napkins. She left a chunk of paper towels that looked like they came from the bathroom. Our meals came, lacking some specific requests we made. The server who brought the food ran off without noticing that we had no utensils or napkins. (kind of hard to eat pasta without them!) We sat staring at our food until our server stopped by. After we asked for utensils she returned with what we thought were sets of utensils wrapped in napkins. Turns out it was only a fork wrapped in a napkin - no knife. How do you cut a whole chicken breast without a knife?? She brought us some knives and we reminded her of the missing items, which she ultimately brought to us. She also left another chunk of bathroom paper towels, no extra proper napkins. The food was good as it usually is, they've raised the prices since we were last there. Maybe they can use some of the profits to buy real napkins and repair their upholstery. Let's create and environment that justifies the increase. read more

I went here about a week ago with a friend and our kids. We did have about a 30 min wait ,but since it had just opened and we were not in a hurry we didn't really care. The energy of the restaurant was of chaos and disorganization, there are people standing around everywhere. Either for a table, for the restroom, cause they have like 20 hostesses, it's a mess. When we were finally seated the waitress stuck us in the back part of the restaurant where all of the other parents with kids were. So it was LOUD as hell. My child is still very young and is extremely well behaved in public, as is my friends, but you put them in a room with other screaming, ill behaved, brats and they too will get antsy and whiny. So this made having a nice lunch kinda difficult. The waitress was helpful, but two tables down from us were other employees who were eating food and, I guess, on a break, and they were complaining about customers. Unprofessional, Cheddar's. I ordered the salad and sandwich lunch combo and my salad came out first, which was fine, and then I got this large place with a puny half sandwich on it that fell apart as soon as I took the toothpicks out. That was not impressive. The waitress did kinda rush my friend's kids with their food towards the end and then brought out the checks rather quickly. Whatever, we were ready to leave. I feel like Cheddar's just rushed to open, and has a staff that isn't ready to deal with the masses of people that want to come in here to try it out. Let me give you all a little story of how our night went. Arrive at cheddars at 6:00pm for a friends birthday dinner. Get told its a 15 minute wait and handed one of those little black boxes that buzz and light up when its your turn to be seat. 30 minutes later one of our party asks when we will be sat. The hostess tells him she already called our party up and we must of not heard her. (we were literally sitting at the bench DIRECTLY in front of the hostess stand, and i was holding the little buzz box the entire time it never went off). Sit down at our table at about 6:30PM. 10 minutes goes by and the hostess comes and asked what we all want to drink. Tried to order a few drinks and got told if we wanted alcohol we would have to wait for our waitress. Not a big deal, we all get water and chocolate milk for the child. In come waitress number 1, takes out drink orders and appetizer order and we asked her for a booster seat because the hostess never brought us the one we asked for. 20 minutes go by and one of out party actually had to walk over to the bar and grab our drinks from the bartender because they were just sitting on the bar for about 10 minutes at this point. In come waitress number 2, repeats the same thing every waitress one says and asks for our meal orders. We give her our orders and asked for chocolate milk again for the child. In come waitress number 3 about 15 minutes later with one of our appetizers and the chocolate milk. Immediately after this waitress 4 arrives and ensures us our food is on the way and the other appetizer will be out shortly. 45 minutes go by with no show of any other appetizer, our actual meal orders or out waitress at all in general. One of our party walks almost into the kitchen before he finds any employees and asks for the manger. He explains to the manager its almost been an hour and they still have not brought either the second appetizer (how long does it take to make three croissants) or our actual meals. She ensures us they were being made fresh and will be out in a minute. Another 30 minutes goes by with no show of ANY food or the waitress in general. At this point everyone is pretty much over it and getting ready to just pay for the drinks and leave. So one of our party had to go track down the bartender and ask for a bill. We are greeted by the manager with two orders of croissants and a promise our meals will be out in a minute. After another 20 minutes we decide we are leaving and once again get the bartender and ask for our bills. The waitress comes to our table about 15 minutes later with the manager and asked if we wanted our food because it was almost ready. At this point we have been at the restaurant for about 2 hours and insisted on getting our bills and leaving. The manager gives us our bills and says "dont worry i didn't charge you guys for the food, just the drinks" (all im thinking is what food? we never got any) She asks if we wanted some 10$ gift cards and we ensured her we would never return to the restaurant. At this point the birthday girl(who is prego) is starving and upset so we leave and head DIRECTLY across the street to mission BBQ, got our food and ate in about 15 minutes. I have never in my life received such terrible service at a restaurant. Even O'charleys had better service and they were so bad they got shut down. Not only will none of us ever return but i will also tell this story to everyone who will listen, this restaurant, its staff, and the manager should all be embarrassed. read more

The struggle was real last night. It took about 10-15 minutes for our waiter to come get our drink orders. Two of us ordered side salads which we didn't receive until after we received our meals. Also, one of the salads (Caesar) had a lot of tortilla chips in it for some reason. My sister ordered chicken fried chicken but received chicken fried steak. My friend got fries but didn't order them. My steak was totally over cooked (and under seasoned) and tough. I ordered it medium. I ordered broccoli and received broccoli casserole instead. It was a pretty bad experience altogether. I'm in no hurry to return. read more

This was my first time at Cheddars. My husband and I came in on a Thursday evening. There was no wait and we were seated right away. The menu is a little all over the place from chips and queso (which is super good btw) to chicken fried steak. There is definitely a little something for everyone. The chips and queso app came out super fast and was pretty good. We ordered the chicken pot pie and key west chicken and shrimp. We both enjoyed our meals. The shining star was literally the croissants that came out with my salad...it was SO good! It was like a cross between a fresh Krispy Kreme doughnut and croissant. Super delicious. The side salad I ordered was crispy and fresh. Everything is very reasonably priced. We got outta there with two meals and a beer with an appetizer for just under $30. Win. read more

My family has been going to Cheddars since it has opened in Jax, NC. About a year and a half ago they really started to become horrible with their customer service but we still decided to give them the benefit of the doubt! Well today was the LAST STRAW! 5 of us were sat down pretty quickly and that was the best part of the experience. Our waitress came and took our drink orders. 3 of us ordered water with no ice and the other 2 order hot tea with lemon. Our waitress brought out our drinks fairly quick and low and behold the tea/coffee mugs had old coffee stains in the cup!!!!! it looked gross from a customer point of view and when they told the waitress about the stains, she acted like it was normal. The waitress blamed it on the dish washer machines :/ She offered foamed cups to compensate for the mugs. When the 2 told the manger about the dirty stained mugs, she just shrugged it off and acted like it was normal to let customers drink out of dirty mugs. Moving on, we ordered onion rings for an appetizer and low and behold they were delivered cold AND our appetizer plates had crud on it!!! WHAT THE HECK!!! Cheddar's loves their customers eating off of dirty plates!! YUCK!!! Ok moving on, our food came YAH!!! Well....yah!? They gave me about two tablespoons worth of corn!! That's okay the waitress brought me another bowl BUT WAIT!, my moms food was luke warm and she had to send it back! What's makes this all worse is that my sister's New Orleans pasta had one single piece of freakin' sausage!!! It was disaster after disaster! What I did like was that Jennifer (a different manager) took care of our needs better than the floor manager and our waitress! She made sure the food was hot second time around AND that my sister's pasta received more sausage :) however, that will be the LAST TIME Cheddar's sees us. Dined at Cheddar's, on 19 July 2012, and there were several things that needed attention at the restaurant. My silverware, was dirty, and could not understand that occurring due to the fact that an employee had to wrap the silverware in a napkin. I ordered the salmon and the rice was cold that was under the salmon. Never was asked if I wanted a refill on my ice tea. I realize that this restaurant opened on 16 July, 2012 and perhaps all the kinks have not been worked out yet. The music is deafeningly loud; it's trying to compete with everyone else's chatter. Appetizer & drinks (chips & quezo, fruit tea) arrived exactly 30 mins later. However, they forgot our long island ice tea which came in 15 mins later. Fortunately, appetizer was good ( or maybe we were just too hungry). We had the braised beef over mashed potatoes and portabella ciabatta sandwich. Both are ok (not really extraordinary). Took waiter additional 15 minutes to check us out with our bill. Good thing is, everything's cheap. Note: made a remark about the temperature with the waiter. Guess what he said? "Thank you for the feedback, sir, I'll inform the management about that and maybe we can adjust it in the future." Not really. He said:"Oh, I like it!" Bottom line: Food is so-so. A few of my friends recommended this place to me. A few months ago, a long time friend and I went and had dinner. The food was not bad but the service was terrible. We didn't say much and have the expected tip. Last weekend, my cousin and I returned with a bunch of his friends. The service was much worse than my first experience. I was the DD, so after multiple incorrect meals, very lengthy periods between empty alcoholic beverages for others, and overall poor service I spoke to the manager. She was very nice, and took items off the check-after the server attempted to rush is out when we weren't finished with our meals. It then took over an hour to get the check situation figured out. The food is good, and the serving sizes are really great. I recommend the chicken tenders with either their ranch or honey mustard. We've never had an issue with our orders. The staff is hit or miss. The hostesses are usually kind, but the waiters are where it's eh. Some are phenomenal even when they are overwhelmed with patrons, but there's been a few times where we've had a miserable experience with the waiter mostly from being ignored or not following up to get our food out before it gets cold. read more

I've been here twice with my husband, the first time I had the Monte Crisco sandwich. It was good, I also had a Chedders Pain Killer, with the coconut rim. It was delicious! Our second visit (which was last night) we got the cheese bites, which I'm a sucker for anything with a good marinara dip. I ordered the ceaser salad and the chicken fried chicken lunch portion. My husband got the ribs with chicken tenders. Everything was super yummy! I got a crossiant with my salad which was amazing. The chicken was moist and the gravy complemented and didn't over power anything. The green beans were good but not my favorite. My daughter ate all my husbands Mac and cheese. We got the Blackened Chicken Alfredo and the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. Talk about overly aggressively seasoning! The chicken was inedible because of heavy handed pepper and the cheesesteak tasted like someone spilled a salt shaker on it. Inedible. Don't they taste the food before they send it out? The staff is unfriendly from the minute you walk in until the moment you leave. (Let's not talk about what a complaint will bring you...but let's just say that if you send something back you'd be better off not reordering.) Never again. And not because I wouldn't give the food another chance--I just think one would be better off to stay at home and save oneself the aggravation of staffers who don't appreciate paying customers. Food was decent overall; ranch and potato soup were watery and it seems to be a theme for them not to put much ice in drinks as I had to ask for a extra cup of it and did the table next to us with a different server. I ordered chicken tenders which were huge, and my lunch date got chicken fried steak that he said was cooked well and not rubbery. The food was cheaper than I expected, however it chaps my hide to be charged $4.85 for two sweet teas that were never refilled. However, the other couple with us was not pleased. So I guess it isn't for everyone but I will definitely got back. The painkiller is also great. Drinks you can feel that also taste delicious paired with fresh hot food and great service from the doors being opened as you walk in, yes I was impressed. This review comes only after my second visit in a week. I am comparing this to similar fast casual dining chains like say Applebee's, Chilis, or Ruby Tuesday's not trendy organic tapas bars. Prices are phenomenal, premium drinks, apps, and burgers under $7 on the regular menu! The burgers don't come with a side but the chicken tender app does. Most items are even made from scratch like the pyramid of onion rings, tenders, or red beans and rice. For typical chains from freezer to fryer the value for quality and portions is usually disappointing, but here I kept being pleasantly surprised by deliciousness and was happy to pay the bill half as cheap if I had gone to a competitor. read more

I had the misfortune of eating at your restaurant on Monday June 28th. I was taking my secretary (who was retiring) out for a nice lunch and she wanted to eat at Cheddars. When ordering, I chose the Monte Cristo, which looked very appealing on the menu. The menu stated it was fried golden and served with raspberry preserves. After waiting 25 minutes for our sandwiches, when they arrived, the Monte Cristo crust was fried so long it was burned black on over half of it. I bit into the sandwich and could not eat it as all I could taste was the grease it had been fried in. I believe either the grease was not as hot as it should have been to fry properly or it was left in the fryer too long. When the server returned to our table 15 minutes later ( I had asked another server to send her to our table but she did not come) she asked me if I wanted a box for the sandwich since I had not eaten it. I told her I did not want a box and explained to her about the sandwich and her response to me was "Yeh, people complain that it's way to greasy all the time but the raspberry preserves help it taste better!" She did not ask me if I wanted something else or offer to take the sandwich off my bill since I was unable to eat it. As I had a guest with me, I said nothing and simply paid the approx. $34.00 bill and left both hungry and disgusted with the quality of your restaurant and the service we received. I will be sure to share my experience at Chedders with others and strongly discourage anyone from eating there in the future. read more

My wife and I went to this restaurant with a friend and her children last weekend. We were promptly seated in the rear of the establishment and then ignored by several servers who simply walked right by us not even asking if we had been helped yet. After about 15 minutes of no service, I asked one of the servers who had been in the section we were in but decided to talk to a couple instead of seeing about us, to see a manager. When the manager came out she asked if everything was alright and I told her what the issue was but we were so disappointed with the lack of service that we decided to spend our money in another establishment. Upon walking out, we noticed 6 or 7 servers huddled around a station talking and having a good time. This was literally the worst service or non service I have ever experienced. This was a pleasant surprise! The atmosphere is very comfortable and spacious, with a large fish tank and live plants in a large sunroof area. Server was pleasant and on top of things. Our appetizer come out quick, and each of the 3 dips of the trio were delicious. I had the grilled chicken Alfredo, and it did not disappoint! The chicken was actually grilled unlike so many places around here that microwave it. It fell apart with my fork, and was nicely seasoned. You can tell they make the Alfredo fresh, and there's broccoli and carrots in the dish, which was a nice touch. Husband had the Monte Cristo which was done beautifully. My kid gobbled up his broccoli cheese casserole as well. We even got a dessert, the cookie with ice cream on it- and it was also delicious. Our meal totaled less than $50- no joke! That's hard to come by these days. I'm not sure why so many ppl say negative things abt the place. This is only our 3rd time here, but we've enjoyed each time. read more

Came here a few weeks ago with a group to try it out - we had a reservation so we didn't need to wait at all for our table. The food was pretty good, not like Jacksonville needed another chain restaurant but I figured when in Rome! The service is the reason I give this place 2 stars. I don't know if it's because the place just opened and maybe they forget to train their staff but it was pretty bad. Our waitress was nice enough, but we must have waited at least an hour to get our food. She said it was the kitchens fault (she will soon find out that she should never blame the kitchen!), but then she also told us that we were her only table since we were a large group. If we were all she had to deal with service should have been much better, not waiting forever for drinks and condiments, the things that were in her control. I will probably go back to this place to give it one more chance since we went about a week after it had just opened, hopefully the service will have improved. read more

We went yesterday on July 27th 2012.....I gotta say the service is HORRIBLE. We had a wait of half and hour which we expected seeing as it just opened, that was no big deal. After our buzzer went off we where seated........in the back! Turns out if you have children or at least small children with you they sit you in the back with all the other families with small children. So we were a bit offended. This is a military town so there our lots of young families in the area Cheddar's needs to realize that. Anyways after about 10 mins our server came and took our drink orders....that took 45 mins...really!!?? She tried to blame it on the bar but two of the drinks were water so that's not an excuse, the other was a raspberry lemonade...which btw I didn't get, she brought out strawberry, after I told her I wanted a raspberry she took it, and 15 mins later brought out the wrong drink again...I'm 32 weeks pregnant so I just gave up on getting the right drink and drank what she had brought. We decided to get chips and salsa or whatever it's called there as an appetizer, that took an hr to come. While waiting for that she took our orders, we all got sandwhichs, and my son had was basically is a corn dog. Over an hr after getting our appetizer we got our food, and they forgot the adults sides! We asked 3 times for our sides and never got them!!!! We were not the only people complaining, we saw lots of tables making complaints. They need to get rid of all the servers and hire new ones...or idk actually train the staff they have.....such a horrible experience we will not be going again for a long time, if ever. read more
