I was hoping for spare ribs, Kansa City style ribs or beef ribs but they don't do those anymore. The beans were good and worth eating, the brisket was moist and not too smoky. We generally liked everything. One thing for oaths with sensitive hearing, because there are few decorations and hard walls and floors the room is kind of loud and echoey. I hope they make some effort to soften the sound, hang some soft decorations or do something to make the sound more appealing instead of the sound of an empty warehouse.

Southern Harvest Soul Food - 3 out of 5 stars…read more I hate to be the guy who leaves bad reviews, especially after giving a place multiple chances, but this was unfortunately the last straw for me. I drove nearly an hour to get to this restaurant, excited to try the oxtails. Upon arrival, I was told they were no longer being served because they were out. This marks the third time I've driven there specifically for oxtails and was unable to get them due to being out of stock. This wasn't late in the afternoon either--I arrived right at lunch opening. I know what some of you are thinking: why not call ahead? You're absolutely right. That mistake is on me, and I've definitely learned that lesson. On a previous visit, I tried the shrimp and grits, and I'll give credit where it's due--they were actually phenomenal and easily the best thing I've had there. Unfortunately, my other experiences haven't matched that quality. The last time I visited, I settled for the brisket burrito. While sweet and savory can work together, this one was overwhelmingly sweet and just didn't hit the mark. I also asked for a Diet Coke and was told they only had Sprite, regular Coke, and water, which was surprising. My wife ordered the biscuits and gravy, which had almost no flavor. For a southern soul food restaurant, that was pretty disappointing. I don't plan on coming back. I'm not mad--just disappointed. I hope this review helps others avoid making a long drive expecting a specific dish only to find out it's unavailable.

Normally this resturant is fine but tonight for some reason when I ordered the same thing I order about once a week it was a joke. I ordered two chicken legs with hush puppies and a sweet tea. Order was more expensive then normal so when I got to the window the manager was took the order so I clarified the order and he rang up a dozen hush puppies I simply said ok not a dozen just the ones that come with the order he was snappy said that'll be like 4 ok I said whatever normally comes with it which in our experience is normally 6 or more open the box and there were 3 now I'm sure that's not a big deal to some but when a kid notices it's not what they normally get I took it as him making a point I corrected him so he'd act like this anyway really disappointed that a manager would act like this! read more

Been 14 years since I have been in the Camp Lejeune area and one of my favorite BBQ places was always Smithfield's. I was amazed at the new restaurant built right next to the old location. The building is gorgeous inside and out. They have a sink NEXT to the counter so you don't have to go into a restroom to wash up. The service was wonderful and friendly, especially Elesiah, who was very patient with my family who can be challenging when ordering. The food was everything I remembered that made me smile.
