Brisket with collards, potato salad, corn bread & a huge selection of sauces!
    Surelyne L.

Note to self....don't get the ends of the brisket. If you like lean cuts, it's fine but it is a bit drier and not as tender as the fattier cuts. That said, it was still very tasty especially with the huge selection of sauces! Collards were good as was the potato salad. Service was very friendly and accommodating. If you have a craving for bbq, this is a good option in Jacksonville.

Always great food. One thing though, that is always sticker shock, is the price for a plate. It is good, but expensive.

2nd time go here!! Amazing food, always clean, the service always nice, i tried the homemade brownies for the first time soooo delicious ‍ I was able to shared with my husband and son. Definitely my favorite bbq place to go and enjoy a nice warm meal

Quick service. Besides the pulled pork and Texas sauce, the corn bread is my favorite !

Love the brisket. Not the BEST in NC but it sure is close. Love the sauce choices. Super nice people and delicious food.

Simple menu with plenty of options for everyone. The food is cooked to order and doesn't take long even when it's really busy. Plenty of seating and a large parking lot. They also put coleslaw on them, but I had to go with my boyhood passion, so no coleslaw for me. A friend told me that he had never had a dog with coleslaw before, but he thoroughly enjoyed it. A great perk for this place is free street parking right in front. The front entrance is in an old strip mall. The inside is well done. Plenty of seating throughout. There's a nice lounging area, outdoor seating, high top tables, large standard tables and a bar area. They have a fairly simple menu, but plenty of variety. They do offer alcohol, THC beverages, sodas, smoothies, and of course coffee. After a few minutes of looking over the menu we ordered a coupe of the artisan sandwiches, a couple coffees, and a slice of coconut cream cake! You order at the kiosk and they bring your food & beverages to you. After a nice wait (not too fast or long), our americano, latte, waters, The Rad sandwich, The Chrissy sandwich, with our sides of pasta and potato salad. The sandwiches were honestly the perfect size for us. Both sandwiches were great and the coffee was good. Initially I requested a red eye, but they were out of drip coffee. Not a big deal, the americano was good. The coconut cream cake was huge and delicious! Not sure, but I tasted a hint of amaretto, vanilla, and coconut. Delicious! Went well with the coffee! Although the cost was a little high, the quality of service, food and atmosphere compensated. We will definitely eat here again. Recommend giving Bistro 1940 a try.

This has the vibe of little bistro coffee shops we find in many large cities with a limited menu and lots of coffee options. They had both a soda fountain and bottled/caned soft drinks. However, neither the fountain nor the cans and bottle had any ZERO products. I ordered a Mikey, an Italian style heated sandwich on an Italian style roll. The bread was good and everything on it was tasty. It was a good sandwich. But for the price I could have had a much larger sandwich at Jersey Mike's wing more meats and veggies. It always seems that places trying to be cool skimp on odd things. Like lettuce is cheap but there was very little on the sandwich. My wife had a turkey sandwich on ciabata bread. She liked her sandwich too. We both got potato salad which was good but bit heavy on the pins for my wife. It was fine for me but I wanted pepper and I could not see any easily accessible and didn't feel like asking for it (that's on me). Our bill with a modest tip for two sandwiches, potato salad sides that were included a fountain drink and a mango slurp (they called it a smoothie but it wasn't) was $45.00. That's just too much for a simple lunch, at least for us.

You can choose a bowl, a wrap, or a pita. They do offer sandwiches and other items as well. I decided on a bowl. I chose yellow rice instead of quinoa. I also had lamb, chicken, garbanzo beans, spinach, three different hummus (feta, traditional, roasted eggplant), lettuce, tomato, feta, cucumbers, naan, and tzatziki over the top. I also decided to have a lemonade. They have several different lemonades to choose from and it's bottomless if you're dining in. I added so many items to the bowl the price was fairly high, but worth it. There's plenty of seating inside and it's a nice dining room. Very simple, but comfortable. I got a pretty full bowl. I noted that the kale they had out had a number of dubious leaves in it, but the person picked around them to get me some nice green kale (if I were them I'd just dump the wilted ones). Vegetarian options were ample at all levels of the ordering process and indeed the only non-vegan component i ended up with was some feta. It was a salty and tasty bowl; oddly the salad greens were the only thing I got less of than expected. I also said what the heck and got what they call a signature tahini shake, which was absurdly filling to the point that I pretty much skipped a meal. Okay if that's what you want. Overall, not perfect but a quality place with options for most diets.
