I had never been to a Cheddar's. I still wouldn't have been to a Cheddar's except that I went into the wrong restaurant. I thought I had pulled into the B.J.'s Restaurant parking lot (they are next to each other). The parking lot was full at lunch time, obviously a popular place. I walked in looking for the bar to the right. However, the bar was to the left and it was showing a replay of the Kansas-West Virginia game on TV. I went into the bar, even though I didn't have a clue where I was at. I got a beer and the menu. I was surprised how low the prices were overall, except on the beer and wine. I ordered the glazed bourbon salmon with rice. I was surprised how good the salmon and rice was. I split on my two sides. The mac and cheese wasn't bad, better than most, definitely homemade. The southern-style green beans were, well, there weren't normal green beans. They tasted like canned beans, I couldn't finish them, even had difficulty eating them. But, the price and the quality of everything else on my one visit prompts me to give Cheddars four stars. read more

We came in and asked for a table for 7. the very rude hostess told us it would be about 20 to 30 minutes wait. we asked for the patio she replied with "we dont have anyone outside at this moment." fine we waited 25 min. then we asked again about the patio and she gave us the same answer. but she did tell us that they will sit us on a booth that seat 6 people and they will put a chair at the end of the table to fit our party. i asked if we would be too crowded we didnt want that booth and she said "the point here is that we will put you in a booth with a chair at the end." wow little miss attitude. ok fine!! 10 min later we asked if our table was almost ready she made it look like our table was right around the corner and said that the people from that table were almost done and ready to pay. ok fine!! 10 min later after that we asked her if it was ready and she said "no but can i suggest the patio?" Great food! Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen is very affordable and delicious! There was a wait when we arrived on a Sunday late afternoon but the excellent service, quick drinks, and hot food made up for it. Andy was an A+++ server. He was attentive, personable, and made sure we always had full drinks. The ribeye was excellent and spinach dip was warm and tasty ! We will definitely be coming back. Located in the las palmas shopping center and easily the cheapest eatery, pricewise. Wide Range of inexpensive entrees and decent service. Only rated it 3 stars due to the appearance inside. Appears rundown considering the neighboring restraunts. Has a stale odor throughout the entire place and is worse near the restrooms. On my most recent visit, we sat near the bar (located NeXT to restrooms) and it smelled like a sewer. The food is average but that goes with the saying "you get what you pay for". I would however recommend this place if your funds aré low at the time and you aré in the área. I wouldnt travel across town however just to eat here. Another part of the decision was influenced by a coupon for an appetizer AND a desert. The former (spinach cheese & tostadas) didn't last too long, the former (triple chocolate pie ala mode, whipped cream) couldn't be finished. The previous evening, I had most successfully completed a platelet donation and, feeling very good, was hungering for a "surf & turf" meal, which, in this case, was a well-done top sirloin and several golden grilled shrimp, along with steamed broccoli. Of the two times I've been here I've had bad experiences ! The first one I order a pasta when it came it had a tums on it, yeah the ones you eat for your upset stomach, the manager told us that an employee was sick and accidentally drop one in my plate so I had to wait to get another pasta. Second time we went me and my friends I ordered a steak with shrimp and first of all it was very cold, we had to tell the waiter to turn off the air, and we weren't the only table, they didn't turn it off until the later after the food arrive, to top It off the food came to the table cold! OK, let me be brutally honest. This place needs to be power washed inside. I am far from a clean freak but I have to say that this place is filthy! The salt shakers have a film of oil on them the stuff left on the tables (ketchup, sugar etc) all had the same film on them...and the floors and walls all had it. I know why it happens, the place is open everyday for really long hours and it is hard to avoid it in a place that has and uses fryers in the kitchen. But all the other restaurants manage to avoid this problem...so that's all I got to say about this place. We like to eat at Cheddar's but unless you get a waitress or waiter that knows their job it has been a nightmare. Went there Friday evening and ordered our drinks than dinner. We placed our order stating with a salad. Our dinner was delivered before our salad came. Our waiter came with our salad about 5 minutes into our dinner. Told him to take the salad back. The monte cristo was raw! The croissants also didn't taste as good and raw also. The spinach dip was good and the kids fries come with parsley on them I believe. I had heard so much about Cheddars so the wife and I decided to try it. My friend kept raving how good the burgers are their and how reasonable their prices were so I was looking forward to trying them as I am a big aficionado of burger. It started out a little rough as it was pretty crowded when we got there and were told about 15 minutes to get a seat but 30 minutes later, we were still waiting for a table. It was a Wednesday night so I didn't expect to wait that long Once we finally got our table our server was friendly and and we got our drinks and food relatively quickly. The burger definitely smelled good and although I have definitely had better, it was actually good for a chain restaurant like this (much better than other chains). The price was also very good so nothing to complain about here either. One other issue that did bother me was the table next to us had some out of control kids. I know this isn't a fancy place and is for families but that is no excuse to let kids scream and run around and I was somewhat disappointed that the staff there did nothing to stop this as it did ruin the atmosphere hence the 3 stars. read more

Great atmosphere. Everyone has a smile on their face. I had the bourbon glazed porkchop. It was soooooo juicy and tender. It was a very thick porkchop. Hubby had the chicken fried steak. I've been here numerous times and have always had a fantastic food experience and great staff. Obviously, it's crowded because people know the food is great. My favorite dish, among many, is Dijon Chicken and if I thought I could get away with it, I would sneak into the kitchen and cajole the cook to give me their recipe. Their broccoli and cheese casserole is always great and I love the crescent rolls dripping with honey butter. Yummm. My friend and I like to go there for the great food and excellent service.
